are you tired of waiting for a balloon full of birdmen to make their way over to the platform at a speed that can only be described like a dying snail moving against a treadmill did you just grind your molars flat thinking of one more zipline ride hi i'm garrett i'm here to talk to you about one of the most important things you can do as a warrior of light blue quests they may seem out of the way sure they might interrupt your speed run through the msq while you're not reading things but you know what else they do blue quests stop you from seeing zelfatol every time you queue for leveling roulette past level 60. do yourself your friends and most importantly me a favor do your blue quests unlock optional dungeons increase the chances that i i mean you stop seeing birdman boardwalks every time you just want to get a weekly done i want to do these weeklies i'd really appreciate it it's not that hard just do your blue quests i'm so sick of these lizardmen not even summoning garuda why do you hate me why are you on all of the effort the devs put into these awesome dungeons that don't have zip lines in them what is wrong with you [Music] we finished our first final fantasy 14 expansion quite some time ago and uh suffice to say heaven's ward more than lived up to the hype but dude even with all the videos we've made about heaven's ward something feels like it's missing [Applause] [Music] that's right it's time to bring back the wall of dungeons and today kyle you and i are going to do the impossible task actually it'll be quite possible by the power of photoshop we're going to rank all heaven's ward msq dungeons just the msq dungeons today by the way every time we do one of these people like you forgot this we'll get to it you might be thinking yourself why is it all on one wall well heavensward was a bit of a jump up if you will in quality of many things including the dungeons maybe in the future one day we'll compare all the trashers and the fx together but for now heaven's words shall stand alone as well as the upcoming stormblood stuff that we've been so hyped about anyways if you've missed our previous installments of the wall of dungeons well we've got a playlist for it also subscribe to the channel so you don't miss future ones let's get into it with the first msq dungeon of heaven's ward some all which i'll get it started kyle i had to go back and re-watch our run because i didn't remember this dungeon at all it's not particularly memorable the idea is really cool though that you are scaling the sacred mountaintop making your way to the home of the dragons you're not only invading their land you're exploring it it's it's like lore wise it's where the dragons go when they've sensed their death coming on right then we go there and kill dragons anyway so that that sort of that sort of theme of the entirety of the mountaintop gets a little lost in the end i mean i mean you can say that but i just we're we're final fantasy veterinarians you know they're on death's door and we're just there to help ease them on this dungeon would be memorable based on its music and its boss encounters and both are kind of middle of the road you don't really get a tour of the dragon types you've already seen all the dragons that exist in this particular dungeon the final dragon is very spiky and cool and very sleek and wormy with a name that's kind of like tiamat that was a neat one you fought his wings and whatnot which was a very cool kind of uh prelude to how you might interact with larger beasts but the very first boss is just some plant thing i i did like the again kind of the way the the biomes change as we just like we complete this ascent we go from the kind of plant area into the volcanic ash caves where the dinosaurs show up before you know completing our our dungeon by fighting dragons um but but beyond that none of it really sticks out to me honestly the t-rex boss the middle boss my ass is probably probably sticks with me more than teo man tioman there's just so many uh there's so many strong dungeons in heaven's warden i don't think somal is bad by any means but i don't think it stands out amongst the embarrassment of riches that i think heaven's ward is and the same goes for the music the music's fine heaven's ward is overflowing with top-tier orchestral arrangements and so what's this track called slumber eternal it it didn't really stick with me i even went back and listened to it and i was just like i don't think i'd be humming this afterwards i have left so many dungeons so many raids so many events in final fantasy humming the music looking at you king moogle song not gonna happen with slumber eternal the generic boss track though for heaven's word is one of my favorite right now i just i like trying to say it ominous prognistics it was it was fabulous like i the whole arc and the tune the main verse of the heavens word music and how it flowed into the other tracks really gave such an evolution and story as those songs became incorporated into things like the later vault battles with the heaven's word as well as getting into fighting giga pope i was watching my car and just like and then the choir comes in yeah they do the no no no no no like it just really builds they can play that thing as many damn times as they want and i always love it i hope it comes back in future expansions bring it on it also there's like four different renditions of it that i can think of off the top of my head but kyle we're not here to review simply ominous prognostics we're here to play some all somewhere on this wall this is where i think i'm gonna be a little savage if oh dragon design was a little cooler in final fantasy xiv this could have been a excellent tour of dragons to come like we think of our d d dragons or our even world of warcraft dragons they are representatives of their color or clan if we had gotten that feel from this dungeon then it would have been a window into future looks and feels but really there's like nidhogg tear and race fogger tear and then there's everyone else and that tier had to be hidden so that we would enjoy it later on yeah everything we're looking at in saw mall i felt like i had already seen and in the realm reborn patch content so in that way i want to keep it out of trash because it's purposefully lame because you don't want to give away the whole ghost you don't want to let the cat out of the bag you need somewhere to build on there's no way these dragons should have been as cool as our end game dragons but it could have been cooler i think right here our current starting poster child for could be cooler no one wants to come i i would i would slide that sucker to the left you'd go trash i i'd go maybe not the best like i'm let's see let's just say i'm just gonna let me let me just let me gaze into the future pure into the future yes [Music] i don't know what any of this i'm doing here yeah i would slide that sucker all the way all right all right hey you know let's do it maybe in the end maybe in the end you're inviting me on this by the way i don't know you don't have to agree with me no no i just i just think trash is gonna be a loaded places all right oh really yeah yeah okay i've gotta i've got opinions let's keep it motoring and uh send ourselves straight into the airy you talked about nidhogg tear kyle uh you're talking about the looks of dragons which you know me i love to debate the looks of dragons i like the eerie quite a bit i like the ruins the lead up the nidhogg where everything's crumbling and you gotta deal with the columns that are falling down and culminating in our first fight with nidhogg this is such a cool dungeon the whole crumbling castle flying ether storm thing worked really well and as you move through the boss's lair it continued to evolve into this temple in ruins and visually nidhogg with his fire his red fire his fire fire mixed with all the purpley smoke looked beautiful and you know the lead up bosses were alright you know we had we had like other evil worms and spiky lanky dragon boys but ultimately it was that false end of nidhogg that made this dungeon such an epic moment and kind of the story with it but for the wall of dungeons we remove ourselves from the story we're talking about like just running this thing and the joy of it and i do think the nidhogg fight in fact all the fights in this particular dungeon have some sort of mechanic i enjoyed whether it was the lightning pillar rod or dealing with the spiky dragon and all the knit hog mechanics with the ad phase that preluded the eventual fool knit hog battle one thing i love that final fantasy does so well is they tend to add a bit of sadness when you defeat something ancient when you're fighting maybe even a great evil but something that was natural part of this world like nidhogg it was a sad story he had been through a lot and that final track when you fight nidhogg does give that edge of sadness that i like yeah i think this um might be like my least favorite track in all of heaven's words oh my it sounds like uh i'm getting a roof installed it's just lumpy but it's not the victory moment you know it's it's a very different world when we kill nidhogg to the primo genesis it's not really the name primogenitor track then if we killed it to the bubble then we're like all right then the game's over let's go he doesn't need to be on his prognosis i'm not saying that it's just again it's i i took nothing away from this music where would you start to place this i mean i i i don't think you go lame it's got nidhogg nidhogg is not lame he is a no no no dog is it this is one of those dungeons that i think like i don't remember rangda i don't remember guy yaks guy gaius how the do you pronounce that dioscudus i don't know dragon names man yeah man i wish it was that simple i wish i could just say like dragon names what can you do their fantasy all the final fantasy has these names so you know what no passes no i disagree nidhogg the easiest to pronounce name in all of final fantasy it's true grace vulgar is mad made up but nidhogg is an easy name yeah but luckily race vlogger is mentioned so many times in voice acted cutscenes that you will learn how to pronounce this name by the end also you have something to point to when seven different people give you seven different pronunciations in the youtube comments but i digress um this is one of those dungeons that overall i i could take or leave but that final nidhogg fight nidhogg just charging up in the background yelling vengeance it was such a memorable moment for me in heaven's ward and also uh like this is one that you know because i just like rando went into it via via the duty finder uh i remember like right before nidhogg like someone in my party was like make sure you get in the bubble and i'm like what bubble what are you talking about why is it so important and like it's it was i i had a really good first experience in this dungeon most of it doesn't stick with me i remember crumbling ruins which i really liked but that's just kind of set dressing which i do like and to me set dressing and and the look of a dungeon the feel of a dungeon the whole visual theming is a big part for me personally that's what kind of gets me invested in the dungeon um but i also like good boss mechanics and i don't know we got a like a lanky dragon spikey boy and we got a lightning lizard i don't really remember them that much but nidhogg is seared in my memory just in the background there with charging up with all the fire and and just screaming at us it falls short of epic and i think would be could be cooler if it wasn't for the final boss fight this is one of those dungeons where the final boss fight really saves it for me so i i think this is a banger but i think it's a lower on the spectrum banger i agree i agree well that brings us to the vault which is just crazy how early the fault happens when you get into patch content and how many more dungeons there are this this is such a huge moment for the story of heaven's word yet there's so much more game to go i mean granted i guess we did just talk about false killing mid hog so maybe that's just sort of how the story of heaven's word played out okay listen i'm in the i'm in the middle of the beginning of stormblood right now the beginning of heaven's ward seems like the most exciting thing i've ever experienced by comparison i pined for it i pined for it this is one this is like a sleeper favorite of mine i don't think about it very often but when i sat down to like revisit it mentally for this video i really i really kind of like the vault man i think it's a little big it looks like a raid yeah i expected to return to it in patch content right there should be like 24 people just tumbling over each other in these massive halls and i get that like it is it's not quite a church but it's like a mega church and all the trash here is just plain aoe pools it's your first introduction to the heavens ward knights transforming into their you know power rangers forms and each one has an interesting fight i do enjoy that the various bosses you fight here the various sirs are all of different classes and types it keeps them from just bleeding together and makes all those various enemies that you'll eventually be facing very unique the wizard knight probably the most unique because it did like the marching chess piece wall type mechanic that we saw in a realm were born hard to me it started so strong it was so cool going in and seeing that the big massive hall immediately after being the first boss after beating uh edelfel and then doing that you know just moving on just moving up the staircase while this golden light shines through the the yellow and gold stained glass while this freaking track hallowed halls this just ominous organ music plays i was kind of sold from the from the get-go and then i also love the boss mechanics of the final boss uh sir cheribert with like the summons that you gotta dodge i love a summon dodge fight i always find it fun well and cherry bird is also where we hear the heavens ward soundtrack for the first time the kind of boss theme that gets evolved as we fight future bosses and that that really upped the ante of that moment music's a win boss design it served the story at that point do we take into account the lore ramifications of the dungeon no i think we have to remove those you know like nidhogg in the airy was placed there not because of the story moment but because it was a fun boss battle when you get done with the vault today in a roulette you're not going to see a whole chiffon that's not that's not going to happen it's time to get out of there before people can commend you why do you leave before i can commend you i have a i have a thing to commend you please stay for like five seconds give me give me two seconds or why are you all over hey hey game could you maybe keep them in the commendable tab give it like a a one minute count trying to give you a commend don't you want my commands well kyle i'm trying to commend the vault because i really liked it it sounds like you're not as convinced where would you start the vault i i think i think it goes below airy for me but i do prefer fighting dragons to people and bigger people in their people forms it's multi-layered you know because i i do think that the vault tonally with the hallowed halls hits stronger and i do think that scaling the cathedral type building is a very fun aesthetic particularly after we've explored ishgard for so long getting to scale ishgard further and feel like we're penetrating the forbidden areas for normal folk is enjoyable i think the vault is a better overall dungeon i think the arie has a clearly superior final boss fight okay under the airy i'll i'll get i'll give it to nidhogg all right too damn cool all right this hurts though it gets real close it is touching well yeah well we can make them touch there we go they're like they're they are they're merged they are one great google library you know just kyle just just go ahead and just just just move it just just just move it up where just move it up in epic you got it you got it my man enchanted wizard man it is so different you walk in there and immediately with the gun everyone's got their sunglasses on inside and getting jazzy like it is so bizarre it it adds an otherworldly quality to it but it is a giant library and man do i love libraries i love used bookstores i do not read a lot but i love being surrounded by books it's the possibilities one of what i might read instead of what i will read yeah and the bosses like they're all good uh you and i both love the demon wall we are like obsessed with the demon wall and this has a demon wall in book form uh we've got the freaking the final boss is like the book boss with numbers and just just keeps spawning out of it you got the the the middle boss where it's like the it was a demon beast that like came out of a book yeah and had like those invulnerable faces and the whole time we're just in a forbidden library with jazz music that could have been in like a calmer scene of cowboy bebop i love this dungeon so freaking much it's really good it is it's reserved like we we kind of get this feel again with the anti-tower which makes sense very you know uh idle shire or metoya adjacent dungeons and magic and charlayan but it really is such a unique tile set they could just do this over and over again for a while and i'd really enjoy it and there's a really neat evolution as we go through the library and reach these forbidden parts and the big chain walls that would do nothing to make you remove a book like you can totally i guess maybe there's magical barriers but you could reach past through those chains and grab a book if you wanted and i love the final boss like this that mechanic of running around and matching people to the circles is really fun and team building like you could be with completely random people and and you walk away with more camaraderie than a normal dungeon when this is over it's just great it's it's it's really great you know the the the boss fights i think are maybe more thematically cool than they are mechanically cool but at the end of the day a lot of this comes down to am i going to be annoyed when this comes up in the roulette and great google library absolutely not no hell no hell no let's go all right a thorough chemical research facility you want to fight hydra skyle you were you're a big hydrophobic hydras is a bro yes he was fine he was fine you know i i just started stormblood i'm i'm a little i'm a little into xenos now sorry sorry hydration this fair hydras is like a relic nowadays because now we also have upgraded nero as of 6.1 who's a little more mechanically interesting and you know certainly more mechanically interesting and all those sort of rob on adjacent kind of battles with the swords uh sloppy up on top and balazar's wall this is a very weird dungeon when you first get into it the track starts playing imagination and it is a riff on the track you've heard before but it has this like really kind of cool operatic sort of evolution to it particularly when it does the puppy kind of thing this is such a weird mix because you have that operatic heavensward track and you're fighting garland things like hydrus and some other technologies in here because they're all the facilities you got the aseans at the end but you have the elegant technology everywhere which is extremely visually messy however we've built a rapport with it we now know from crystal tower and coils bahamut that these are you know pods that are going to release things there are cool trash lifts that kind of dispense the trash towards you and give you this gauntlet mad scientist feel before you get to the straight up more resident evil style pods being opened and placed upon you the chimeras that you're battling and all that what a mash-up literally like all the factions coming together in a single dungeon yeah and yet i don't think any of the boss fights are all that cool the sphinx is neat and i think that this is harmachus is a really cool tour of like coils of bahamut turns you fought before so definitely slash visual influence for the algae and technologies and i mean you do fight blah blah an iggy or that that was neat particularly when they like the assy in prime and you have to like jump inside the portals to dodge the mega blast like visually there's just like so many explosions in the final two-part battle my favorite thing about this dungeon is the music and even then like i i think there's a part of the music that operatic part that's really good but i think it is kind of the weaker of the heavensward style tracks for the main the majority of that music also we did coils and to me this is just like a not as cool coils well what about what about like the zerg in the end like has that as the sort of flashes pulling out of all the pods when you fight la jabre and asean prime that is neat that that final fight is cool but there's a lot of cool final fights that's true currently banger is being propped up by final cool fights can you really like look in the face of the etherochemical research facility and say that it could be cooler like it it's almost too cool it takes all the cools and puts them all in one room together and by doing so you have to judge who's the coolest and in that way by putting cool people next to each other they become overall less cool because cool people are only as cool as the people there above it's like a a really good music festival where there's multiple stages that are too close to each other so you're hearing all the music at the same time yeah everyone is the same volume yeah or it's like when you know when you got you when you got your hamburger and like a fry stuck to it and the cheese is melting with ketchup and you're like you know what this all works this is fine but here you got like you got like sesame chicken touching your fettuccine and you're just like this isn't working all together at once i don't know really kyle i think it comes down to um hydrus is so much cooler than his fight i saw i saw i saw him standing there and i'm like oh hell yeah and then it's like i don't know like intercept some some turret lines yeah that was kind of lame yeah he didn't seem like the turret type either like i don't i don't see big sword and think you're going to have little robots accompanying you i thought it took them down a notch honestly i wouldn't be annoyed to see this in my roulette but i wouldn't be excited either i think it's kind of my my final my final thought on that oh are you going to go lame on this or bottom a banger i to me i think it could be cooler maybe straddling the line what's your what's your honest thought man let's throw your choice out there and let's see how they slam together oh man i love the physical pain you're in because you love the elegant stuff so much i i do i love the mad scientists space aliens and i love the merger of la habrea with iggyorm into the asean prime i think that is a really cool evolution i think it's a cool boss battle when you're battling one to half health as the other one kind of moves about and shoots lasers everywhere like this is such a overwhelming aoe battle but the other two boss and i i include regulus in this they're not great bosses but the vault had extremely boring trash just aoe pools the lifts here the the way the the trash approached was more excuse me hi hi i'm the tank here um i call that a good time just a week things just like ah relaxing that's fair you know you bring up a really good point as a as a dps or healer there's a really fun element of like we're surrounded they're coming from all sides adventure as a tank you're like this is just so stupid it's not just everybody get together group up let me see some numbers go up in the air i'll aoe him down and we'll all go home why are you making this so complicated we are we are kind of the uh like the elementary school teacher it's like if you could all just focus this we could get this done a lot quicker that's fair 100 fair but no man like i love to me like a a vibing afternoon is uh just getting some some aoe pull dungeons that have fun boss fights i'm here for the boss fights i'm not here for the trash okay all right so so on on the tier list for you as tank trash can only get so impactful all right i would say the final boss fight here is cooler than the final boss fight in the vault but i think the other two boss fights are actively not that great straight up disappointing i think idris is a straight-up disappointing boss fight it's a character that was built up and i was excited about i i would rather go here than the vault i'd rather go to the vault than here [Music] we're at our first major impasse i would um i'm you know i'm just gonna pull out a card here that says hey kyle remember a few minutes ago and i said you know what i'll give it to you you can put the vault under the airy i think we can do this i think we're just going to make a a big banger block big finger big banger block right there that conglomeration there were so splitting hairs for me like they're all although i don't know for me like i think i'm coming down on uh ethereal chemical is kind of my personal i have a personal axe to grind with that dungeon for some reason i think it's all all these are representing excellent final bosses and what comes before that is messy except for vault which is like buttered bread it's like plain that we need more toppings it's really solid toast yeah really sick sour bread all right anta tower what a fun dungeon like what what a what a wacky what a wacky thing what a serious note in the story which we're going to ignore but what a wacky way to get there every time latoya is involved with us going somewhere it's among my favorite things i've experienced in this game we fight like a giant music toad who turns us into toads and keeps trying to sing we fight a spriggan named ziggy who uses moves called star dust while he rides on a giant like crystal rock and summons other rocks that shoot lasers while we're in space stairs and then it all ends with the creepiest like merging doll the dolls emerge and they become naked doll it's just it's unnerving and all this while baroque ass off-putting harpsichord music just fills your ears the entire time yeah what is not to love no it's true and then you do like the upside down room part where like you're you're going past the chandeliers because you're now on the ceiling with that music playing it's hard not to love hi former wild player this gives me karazhan vibes and that's the highest compliment i can pay dungeons yeah man wizard castle kind of business it is you know i still don't know why there's a creepy doll and they play some really creepy music this wasn't homage to final fantasy 4 which i found out but it was just really creepy and then they turned you into dolls too it was really off-putting as is me trying to decide if this goes above or below the great google library because that's where i'm at mentally oh i i mean wizard towers are cool but i mean come on you got the demon books you got the book mechanic for the final if anything you're running on like rainbow road while you jump in the air between them and then you end at an upside down wizard tower where you have to walk around chandeliers that are going the wrong way gravitationally speaking it's true it's true there's a there's a lot i really like to it but i do think that the book theme was stronger for the bosses overall the disney ride of it had a stronger through line whereas music toad ziggy and crazy doll was not as thematic but the wizard tower worked i would argue that they're more they're more memorable even if they're not as thematic i mean very memorable that is true yeah and they all have like solid mechanics like like ziggy it could have been like all right you know it's a bowie reference cool but it's got that classic like hide behind the pillar mechanic as well so it's like it's memorable it's a good reference it's a kind of silly memorable design and it also brings in like a classic mmo boss mechanic but there was trash coming out of doorways like there was like portal doorways with the trash pouring out of it so it was knocking listen there were also frogs with wizard's hat wizard hats which is objectively the best trash i've ever seen in mmo so it sounds like you want to put it above the google library i just wanted to say my piece i really love the anti-tower but honestly dude um these two great google library and auntie tower are interchangeable for me i love them i think i love them both equally all right i'm gonna executive decision i'm gonna co-chair this just a little bit a little space there i just love books time for sorkai sorkai i think is like sleeper stellar i think it's a really good dungeon i forgot how much i liked sorakai and a lot of it a lot of it hinges on that final boss fight raceforger is amazing but also the music is so subtly perfectly appropriate like race fogar is this this fed this giant feathered dragon which when i first came to final fantasy i did not like how the dragons looked i'd like a more classical like meaty buff dragon i like dinosaurs with wings i love myself a warcraft dragon like i really do but race velgar really grew on me especially if you go and look up art like his in-game model is cool enough but you go look up like concept art of race full guard that the you know square artists put out oh that's so cool looking it's so unique it's really unlike anything i've looked at before or seen and so to have what's the track called apologies this it's very piano forward and it feels light and airy while still i don't know feeling important and like carrying a weight to it which like it's so to me it so perfectly encapsulates the character of graceful girl as does his fight when we when we go to fight him here we have to jump between these these platforms i loved it also the middle boss was cool like the dodging like hallway mechanic yeah the pegasus yeah it was it was a cool boss i mean also just fighting chieftain maglin who i thought we were killing at first but then i had to remember was part of the trial this is all like this is a neat dungeon thematically because you're fighting nothing but good guys because they're giving you a shot to see how noble you are and if you can actually face down nidhogg so in that way the apologies track which isn't my favorite has that tone of sadness to it and also the voice matches what we eventually hear in dragon song so i think like kind of the greatest compliment i could pay or what what moves music up for being makes me excited about a track and final fantasy is if i think it's humble if it's something that it's sticking my brain to the point where i'm humming it as i walk around the house right and i would say that track apologies is not humble but i would say of of the stuff that i can't really remember the melody of i think apologies is my favorite one of like the subtle music of the one that's more atmospheric it's one of my least favorite places to go though like just floating island kind of grecian kind of viney it eventually evolves into that more epcoty feel of the race vlogger fight where you're on the platforms and the platforms matter and he's like summoning giant like dragon heads and blowing up platforms and you're having to jump between them like this is this is against that is that banger territory where everything up to the boss not my favorite kind of messy but then the final boss really just has a really fun fighting mechanic i think i may just not really like the elegant aesthetic i think that i think the way you feel about like uh magic theros vibe is kind of how i feel about the overuse of gold metal sure in elegant structures yeah this is more clean elegant is extremely messy techno babble kind of look it's a lot of hyper-reflective surfaces yeah yeah yeah again it's like i would be excited to go to this dungeon again is this low banger i think this is low banger because there's nothing really you can make cooler about it because good guys aren't cool you know we're fighting we're fighting good guys right so it's it's a banger fighting bracelet is cool yeah that's true that's true i i don't think fighting pegasus isn't necessarily cool but i think the mechanics are cool and it's a fun fight which i always respect yeah i might personally make a fight for it going above eighth hero chemical but i don't think i'm gonna win that fight so i'm gonna i'm gonna save it for a strong opinion i have coming up all right time to talk about zelfatol this is your strong opinion i've got a stroke opinion here oh okay i've got a strong opinion about zelfatoul as well all right kyle zelfatol um please for the love of god do your blue quests i never want to see this dungeon again it's right at that 60 cusp so it's always coming up for us right now and it is lame i'm enough i'm gonna put it there i could even go lower the bird men who want to fly not cool i think it looks cool they're lost boys circa hook wooden buildings that are like in this case going up much higher than anything in that film but it had that vibe with this like ramshackle treehouse look i love it it looks really cool it feels adventurous it's got a little bit of a swashbuckling feel because of that i never want to pick up another one of those and wait for one of those stupid air jam stone things the stupid balloons if your team hasn't been there before they don't know to burn them down so they go back and they pick up more douche bags and they bring it back to the platform this dungeon is one of the most obnoxious things and it is the dungeon i have seen more than anything else it is the copper bell mines of heaven's ward the yeah the hot air balloon aesthetic it doesn't i grew up in new mexico we had yearly hot air balloons like after your first one they're just landing in your backyard they're they're a plague upon nature it gets old i'm not a fan of hot air balloons [Laughter] that's so specific you albuquerque boy you but it's like and then the the middle part is actually a little like blight towny like you enter sort of a evil scaffolding with traps kind of zone but it never really realizes into the theme the whole the whole birdman that can't fly should be cute but ultimately like pop in his air balloon get him low and are our bangers propped up by final bosses i didn't feel the beat here like we were okay uh all right excuse me i'm gonna go into msq a little bit here but lord doesn't matter kyle i didn't get to i didn't get to make lower matter for the vault okay okay that's fair so so some of the most important lore there is although i'm wit are you are you going with this are you where i am which is i thought we were going to see garuda again and you don't you see it for a hot damn she's reduced to like an ability on a boss i thought we were there to stop the summoning garuda she's like physically showing up but she's just the spell effect and it was really late and and the music here like this was a unique track of the ominous remix like revenge twofold is like trying to up it even further by making that heavensward music really punchy in the face and i love it but this final boss it's rocking but what i'm doing is beating up a bird man who's not really summoning garuda and i didn't really know why also there's like the middle boss who has like i'm not sure if it's a really big fan or a really big axe but it looks dumb i like the mechanic on that one though where you got to have your back to the fences because he does that big wind push back i've come to understand that now yes anything that lets me feel awesome when i use my jump back in ability as either a dark knight or a gunslinger which is the two tanks that i have played this the most as always makes me happy it's fun it lets me you know show my prowess that i remember that i have these movement abilities that's fun that's really honestly that and the look of the scaffolding i think those are the two big positives for me other than that i straight up groan when i see this dungeon and i see it a lot please please please please please do your blue quests unlock the optional heavensward dungeons as someone who can dash on sam right now i'm with you dashing is very very fun as low on maybe not the best as possible you want to go below some i'll just like straight up trash town yes i this is the first dungeon since copperbell mines i never want to see again let's do it let's make a bottom of the barrel here for heaven's ward by heaven's ward standards this does not meet them and it's also just annoying it's just annoying to get and then there was balsa's wall what a what a generic sounding dungeon but a good set piece um i didn't start in gridania but if you did that wall was just looming man yeah in the distance and i i really like the garlic and tile set i do too this i'm glad we agree on that because i'm not the biggest on the elegant but i like the garlands probably because it's not so hyper reflective i can actually see what the hell is going on and this had some fun what i like to call video game ass video game mechanics like like the when we're stuck on this the square when the conveyor belts are just ushering in trash like yeah it takes some time and it kind of slows things down but it feels so video gaming to me it makes me think of like playing turtles in time on the elevator level you know and i'm a kid again i i like i like the conveyor belts like that that was just it gave it that that factory feel that made that such a danger on the horizon and hey there were dogs like this is the first time we saw garlian war dogs yeah and you get to and i like match attack the the predators with their like duo slicy blades they're fun looking and this one i feel like i can't bring up lore cause it's literally part of a fight that we do the reveal of the griffin being ilbert it's right there it's you're gonna see it every single time you run balsar's wall like you fight ilbert and it's a really freaking cool fight he's beastly and he's got a great evolution of his abilities that you saw back in a realm reborns cut scene and the broken floor like when he summons his big rob on style blades into the ground which is a nice little like ala megan's rub on like if this is kind of like their style of fighting with the flamey swords and it breaks up the platform you're on is so visually pleasing yeah yeah yeah it's i think it can be difficult in an mmo to make a battle with a singular like humanoid person you know that's kind of on the same level as you the player feel satisfying right he looks von hydras right he's right there yes yes absolutely um but i think the griffin fight fighting ilbert is a a really solid example of how to do those character-driven fights and make them feel satisfying it it this is a very light version of it but again like it tapped into my positive wow nostalgia by giving me a little bit of a lich king vibe you're fighting a singular character heavy character on a circular platform it's solid mechanics that i want to go do that if i didn't know the character i'd just have fun doing the fight but when you know the character on top of it it makes it that much better so i really think the griffin fight is really sets this whole dungeon off for me like i like the the castrum tile side i like the garland stuff it's fine we've seen it before so it didn't feel super new but i still liked it i think it's a solid dungeon overall and the the final boss fight is a nice cherry on top of this solid banger honestly if i had to come up with a major negative it's the music it's like very marching soldier yeah it serves the purpose but it didn't evolve into anything special yeah it fits the dungeon very well but that doesn't mean i have to like it which i really don't well banger is our our place for anything that has a great final boss and i think this was very enjoyable i would say the boss is leading up to it the magitek predator and the armored weapon were all fun aoe heavy but fun bosses too which might even elevate it to the top of banger i feel weird about that because yeah we didn't head into this with the rule like if it has a great final boss it's going in banger but is this it's kind of how heaven's war dungeons have evolved like as we sit here and a trend has emerged and so with that in mind i'm now asking myself would i rather fight the do the griffin fight in belsar's wallet or i rather do the nidhogg fight in the airy and i think i'd rather do the griffin fight it's a really fun just solid ass mmo boss fight i think spectacle-wise knit hog's better i think mechanically the griffin is like low-key great it's a fun dance for sure yeah i think i think we take it and we put it uh right above the area i think that's a really solid home for it because of the overall functionality i can live with that unlike gilbert i can live with that that's there's a man i'll all i gotta say is belsar's wall is anything but sloppy whoa that was meaty i can't imagine us having to put copper bell mines even improved as it may be and compare it to these dungeons heaven's word was an improvement in dungeons i don't think copper belt mines was all that improved it got rid of the delay mechanics on the slime boss but ultimately like the the journey even through zelfatol is more interesting than many of our aromaborn dungeons if i if i had to put copper mines on this this wall you wouldn't see it i would just put it so low on maybe not the best that it wouldn't be visible heaven's ward is currently our inner planets and beyond that you're just like going deeper and deeper and deeper out into space and that's where reports galaxy simply the list would not have held up to making it a single transaction let
