it's harder here than in Athens Athens Greece I'm sure [Music] [Music] it's another baking hot weekend that Knicks garage and Sylvania is in the shop to pick up his 600 horsepower Dodge Charger [Music] [Music] [Music] this is 600 horsepower agent last year this is a star there he goes he's always right here you have it you guys 68 Dodge Charger in red 4-speed with a CSUN horsepower 440 that we build a couple of years ago you know just came in but hit the engine removed so I got off the engine bay painted and of course you brought it back and so I could get a started friend and now he's taking it back home and I don't want it ready to go that's silver for you guys now you know why you wanted taste on a horse bar on that full 40 see the way he drives that Dodge pickup yeah some of us call him the Batman but you know what he is what he is you got a charger he's got a few more parts and he beats them all or should I say puts them all to the pace and there he goes there are lots of good things in Nick's place this summer but today he and his brother Phil are in the dyno room helping out a customer and fellow bracket racer with his stroked out racing engine we've got an engineering lab dynamometer that they're brought to our customer mine which a is a full-time drag racer with a bracket car 1971 Dodge Dart and he's got a 360 here with a stroker kit up to 408 cubic inch it's a bracket ratio like my brother Phillip and he's been racing and a problem for many years and of course the the main thing is not great horsepower the thing is that the car consistent that he's been racing against us with us and of course every weekend we race together so now we yeah us we had a build of a new engine for is that car to run this year so we have finished assembled it and now we have it on the dynamometer and we'll do some testing so it goes the engine here running at the car for so many years he threw out a connecting rod so he had Eyebeam connector odds so in this case now we did an update with a new another huge block another crankshaft with h-beam connector was we put on the same heads same intake manifold a new cam of course and by the way he decided the edge of my brother Phillip and of course they got all the parts from mechanic auto parts every PC that there was installed on this motor the Pistons the Rings the crank rods the gaskets the cam to climate change oil pump the strainer the oil pan and whatever my customer hasn't said engine does they want to be on the video but it doesn't matter he just wants to see the engine run we have them here we're not going to show you him he just wants L the engine runs so here we are we're gonna get us started check the timing if your ratio and then of course we're gonna try to tune it with his car beaters but in the meantime we're gonna start with my 750 double pumper and see what it does it's a very hot day today very hot and humid so it doesn't matter I love the heat anyways and we're ready to get started let's see what goes on [Music] there we go full tank we running a petrol cattle 94 octane there it is actually it's aluminum heads with a 12-point 18 compression ratio but then again it's got a hydration cam so it's gonna beat off so hopefully it works for us so let's give it a try okay let's break it in let's go Nick's brother Phil designed the engine with Nick's customer even though they'll likely end up racing against each other on the track someday soon [Music] Nicke warms up the engine and dials in the timing at 32 degrees to begin [Music] and we have an oily I don't need to be mindful right here let me finish testing it and the only good I've got right here in the corner will be fixed later on okay the poem would be 180 with all the sparkle okay 32 degree timing with that's our car Vader 5,000 rpm that seemed to hit I have to adjust an absorber now hold on after one last adjustment Nick is ready to try a first pull okay I open it [Music] here we go one pool oh my god we got to go a lot more up here than that oh yeah look 5,000 rpm we're out 463 you may know okay we got to go a lot more advanced look at the door dial 529 tour by 29 what'a at 3900 p.m. you got about 500 watts yeah see we took it to 5,000 rpm now we're gonna take a five six five seven we finished at 5,000 rpm we pulled out a 463 horsepower and at 339 our p.m. when he pulls out of 529 tour we're gonna take it to 58 hundred rpms right now on this 360 story we're gonna start at 2500 rpm we're go to 58 RPM at 300 rpms per second [Music] here we go [Music] [Applause] oh there we go let's see what we got yes sir [Music] we gotta go higher yeah 5800 and we're up for 82 after taking the engine to 5,800 rpm they still haven't found maximum horsepower so Nick sets up another poll looking for the edge of the envelope you ready [Music] 3,000 to 6,000 rpm [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] here it is the 58 488 horsepower 40 that's one horse follows plus per cubic inch for eight versus forty eight got more torque to weigh this is gonna be a screamer now now do we go with your carburetors on is that 32 degrees and all that every all right it's going with more timing did you wretched let's see what you got [Music] my brother watch that match the timing by two degrees so we're gonna go from 32 to 34 since he designed the engine with my customer I let you do their fix and I'll just make the size do work Steve work [Music] we went from 32 degrees to 34 degrees and now we're making another test like the back okay here we go [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] she's almost the same yeah I was better at 32 I'm Cruz on the water we make another test back-to-back [Music] [Applause] [Music] we're gonna run our cooling temperature I just found out here 115 114 115 I've been testing and doing tests on 160 165 so I brought the temperatures more down to be running cooler at 150 around now so let's go down a similar test [Music] I got 157 right now okay let me see the stabilizer 150 you should go down or 156 right now [Music] [Applause] I think I better run it cooler all right yeah okay little bit more cool yet let's go [Music] water running cooler that's the thermostat I adjust the thermostat when you type it in the gold squirrel so I'm running a quarter so it 140 150 here we go [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] God the river was your name - 500 I'm gonna woman to 490 at 5800 rpm we're pretty good night I know and the torque is up there - yeah five thirty six point five but 4000 rpm my by 64 we're starting at 3000 we're good okay we're gonna run out of coolant temperature roughly 140 150 and we need the timing at 34 and we're gonna make it best right house all over again we've run a 6,400 rpm [Applause] [Music] you know you're in there so look 46 47 58 57 which is pretty good got 57 15 yeah that's what should be there Eddie you're wrong drastic Springs on it let me tell her nice to fly this is beautiful this is beautiful well you see this thing is going pretty good now we're gonna fill with different findings according to Philip and Robert what do you say you guys you want to make it back-to-back test okay Oliver you want shake it should we have any fuel left okay perfect I gotta put the time you backwards [Music] [Music] got a mess with the oil but don't worry we'll take care of it later we got 95 96 degrees Fahrenheit here today especially an instrument even hotter I forgot the 5.30 ventilation and we're gonna do the best what we've got here we go doing the best with what he's got has been the name of the game for Nick since he was a teenager building his friends street racers in the back alley nowadays the races take place on the track for the most part and lots of customer cards are on Nick's to-do list [Music] [Music] [Music] 4:54 big-block nova with a 12-volt rear end with the four-speed and right now we had to do some clutch work on it so we want to test that out on the block and show it goes and that's about it let's say just give me for a clutch job and it's ready to go I guess some of the customer want to try it on and that's it 4472 nova with the four-speed won't bolt rear end we had to clutch the slave cylinder in the master solar replace for the clutch and then at the end we couldn't get the car started means the end I hit a switch for a few pause so we spent a few hours on a tryna get the fuel pump to work by bypassing it and then a customer never told me at a hidden switch hello su we finally contacted him he told me where it was you put her on we got the car whining and there it is is all for joy Nick never knows what's going to roll into his shop next but he continues to greet every job with the same passion for power he's had since he was a kid it's that passion that keeps him going on days like today when it's over a hundred degrees in the dyno room and he's chasing down those last few horses before calling it quits [Music] in the end Laval stroker racing engine made more power than he'd hoped for and the kind of consistency that he meets for his bracket racer as is tradition among race car drivers the final numbers are a secret but here's the sweet sound of one more pull [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] thanks everyone for watching and subscribing the numbers are really starting to get interesting we appreciate every single one of you and a special thanks to our patreon team the folks who go that extra mile every month you pay for the cameras the sandwiches off the food truck and the gas in the dyno room [Music] and you guys if you look down below the video we have a bunch of merchandise that you guys can buy so whatever you like Wyatt lovely wear it and enjoy it and help spread the word of mix garage and if you have some time check out a picture in Paige we have extra content and you guys can watch it and take it from there and we'll see you next time [Music]
