let's see it well the demon get rid of the gremlins well let's find out [Music] [Applause] [Music] here we are in a provincial holiday here in Quebec I'm closed I just came to make a little video here and show some what's going on in the shop so now that I got some free time I'll run up a crowd here let's take a look at what's going on [Music] where we are a very busy week I'm just waiting to get on my car is delivered by this Friday I've got this Corvair 64 we did the oil inks that we had to do or a couple of things here and there that's all done I got Neal's Dodge Dart came back we need to install a new driver's side motor mount which has just received yesterday so it's gonna be proceeding on maybe the day tomorrow the day after not a small job I still have the glove box I'm waiting for for a pair for the 69 rule and who bought my keeper so I'm just ready to finish off the dash on this car so I can deliver this one also engine transmission Dana 60 steering column the - all done but I had a very unique car coming in this week which is very rare I got a 64 Dart six-cylinder and it's called a GT why is it here it came in for one little thing it came in because it would not idle so you know what it's a 64 the 6-cylinder mini-storage many times in and out they drive it very rare so we had to do some work for example let's do the tune-up we did the tune-up we started with the cash filter which nowadays we don't use this part the gas filters anymore we use the fin type which Christ always used we had that replaced then we did I found your work process which was leaking oil I also replaced the oil pressure switch and of course is everybody know what points are so we had the points replaced it's part of a tune-up tulip is spark plugs cap rotor condenser and wiring all that's been done and on top of that we are carbon that did not want to idle because was full of dirt inside the copier so what I had done is I took out the carburetor I took it off I added overhauled I bought a carburetor kit very simple one barrel car Vader I had it rebuilt and check this out here's the accelerator pump that was in there all joy it up and cracked you know when you press the gas pedal this plunges in and shoots a or it shoots fuel through the Jets to accelerate and this is what it is and at the same time you in there you change the needle and seat and you change the pace cascades the basic gaskets overhaul they cleaned a lot as much as I can and we have it done and we installed it after all that was done the tune-up and the carburetor we got a running and then wait another issue I used to warm up the engine and on idle the oil light would come on I made a pressure test and we had like a 2,000 rpm we only had 20 psi so that told me that you know what something's wrong with the pump or I'm not so sure so I went along with nulling I got a pump for nothing I replaced the well pump and this is the original piece from Chrysler as you guys can see it's painted red there's the quite sure local then in 64 what they had its original oil pump I'm sure the engine wasn't one out of anyways so I said myself it's gotta be the pump so we had the oil pump replaced but at the same time we did a lot of changes before that the oil was very thin for fuel and then I was wondering what was going on I noticed that when we took this out this was full of fuel on this side it's just shooting fuel inside the oil so same time I replaced a fuel pump I figured out its joy it's old I did everything so I got the oil pump replaced I got the fuel pump replaced carburetors done the tune-up and there you have it 664 dark convertible there was it was a pleasure because working on a six-cylinder is very rare in my shop is every one of them comes in here with a v8 by the way my first brand you call with my dad was a 73 duster and this is exactly what we had a 6-cylinder like 600 225 over there called the Leaning Tower which we will call the Virgin see Betty brings me back history that there when I used to drive this car with my dad with a six-cylinder and now that I drove it yesterday it was a pleasure driving it just brought me back memories let me tell you I remember when a duster came out in 1970 not a lot of dusters sold Kreitzer sure they were great mowers let me tell you the bodies were washed out but these engines were too hard there were workhorses there were there were an industrial corridor in trucks they're everywhere and what's good what I like about it is mechanical camshaft it's not a hard wall I left the camshaft in this is a mechanical cam with adjustable Walker's and when this engine runs you can hear business which is normal because that's the way they were built and there were workhorses stops little more is nice and look for a 64 six-cylinder car it's got a spa 180 miles per hour I don't know if that tells you anything but you know it is that it is a GT so it's got 180 miles per hour its prominent and what's unique back in the mid 60s early 60s this is the push-button automatic this is in part you put it up to put it to anywhere you wish reverse drive to one and then out of mic when you push it down to park and locks it neutral you're good to go game with all the gauges alternator temperature gasoline oil was not a gauge though so like then like so and you came mr. let me tell you now would you want to do 180 miles an hour with this car I don't know check out the tires check out the car and you let me know [Music] [Music] you can hear with mechanical mixers and lockers we can make it a lot quieter all that to do is remove the valve cover and readjust all the lockers which I'm thinking of doing very soon so I'm going to check with the client has to be fuel wants me to adjust those lockers but anyways besides that this is the size of a fixative I'm quite sure after warms up and wipe down you still here without mechanical combat it's a normal and it is real gentle it takes over twice to it if you look at the headlights in the front and sort of looks like the 64 turbine car like Chrysler Building back in 64 they made something like 51 or 52 units with around lights the turbine car was a beautiful car that they made to work with the turbine motor look at that brand-new runs like a child you cannot get more simple than this you guys check this out oil cap and breather at the same time is that's it for what one vacuum connector for the PCV valve and one bike you've connected for the distributor and that's all you need the good old days look at it and it's got so much room on it check out all this mouldings and that's it those are early 50s and 60s chrome was a favorite and you know still today I love the chrome on all these old cars very good idea me put a a different blue from inside the two moldings beautiful beautiful what a unique unique car very simple very clean and very nice and now I got this car ready for delivery another one done I've got a 68 Charger came in for a little basic tune-up oil change a couple of gasket brake job at the rear that's about it and this gentleman here has a few charges and he's looking to buy another one he's got a 68 69 and right now I was looking for a 1970 then I got Stevens Corvette here which I got many working on it trying to fix an electrical problem we had the alternate replacement for some reason the fusible link keeps burning out on the junction block we haven't figured it out yet so Manny's got the cymatics on it it's going through the car see what's going on so I got to deliver this one very soon this is the one we did the 44 last year that's all good except that it just doesn't want to charge we had the alternator replaced and we have a short circuit somewhere in the car and my knee here is trying to find out you're going to find that manually say there you go I know I don't want to come to let you go since I know my knees good with that saw my knee my faith in your knees let me tell you buddy thanks and if you guys want to see the 44 on the dyno checked on the link above I also received a tachometer for the GTX so now the only thing I'm missing is the chrome knob I'm gonna find that in another source but in the meantime I've got the tachometer in my office I've got the engine out and I was telling Andrew before I take it apart I had some comments from some viewers that asked me Nick what'd you dyno test it before you take it apart I said you know what that's a good idea so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna dyno test the way it is an original fight to rebuild so I'm we're looking forward to that so as we take it apart I want to take pictures of video of what the engine has and then after when we're done with it what we do are to watch the trick I should say or upgrade what we did by kawaski 440 I want to put it back in the diner will see the difference between two before and after then I got a 78 volary [Music] client came in with a three-team filari paulie's asked me is take up to three team this is the three team that was in there and we installed them a 340 engine and here it is we put it in and now we just want to get it going and I remember I never met this client before he bought this 340 and he told me Nick I got a 70 people area what you install it so I gave him a date a couple of weeks a doesn't show up and he's showing up and he parked in front of my shop and then he was ready to throw me the keys to take the car and then I said you know what lately I'm beginning a lot of cars but I don't want to touch they come in and you've got a lot of homemade stuff obstacles that things you don't want to touch wires hanging dead and wires homemade brackets things touching here cut here whatever now when I see these cars I don't want to touch them anymore so I told the I believe his name is Andre I had some open the hood I want to take a look what's going on so I said if it's a mess I do not want to accept a job so I looked at it it looked pretty decent so I told him give me the keys and we'll get it done so then he passed the test so I accepted the job and here it is in my shop it is a moot point after all it's a Ferrari 78 Valeri and I stayed here late last night to put this transmission together the client just brought me in the transmission asked me to overhaul it because it makes our wall-e noise with the main bearings in it because this gentleman talked for a long time with no oil in the transmission so I had a few gears replaced the main bearings replaced so I stayed here till at 9:30 last night to put it together I've assembled it and I just want to just paint it a give a little paint job get him a new bike and whites which replace this but here because it's really worn out and this is this probably pulled out of it so I'm gonna replace that gear I have one on order it's coming in and after that I'm just gonna give it a nice fresh paint job on the outside and ready to go I got this fox mustang dollar cut it's full of dust I know I wanted to cover it but I wanted to watch the car first he just brought in is that 16 rockers which is right here and this is a fuel-injected 302 5 liter but the instructor told 347 so I'm starting to put this together he got me the few rails the fuel injectors the walkers love both covers and now ready to put together except now though you brought me a few pieces that I do not have the hardware you brought me the intake manifold but the bolts that go through here are much longer than what comes from the factory only because he's added a spacer one inch or so spacer anyway that's not a problem he's gonna get me the hard way he said he'll get it on its own he'll bring it in and that is for the fort's body that we have outside in my shop so we just want to get it done put it in the car and get it over with because I need to say I need the space in my shop and I've got another one here stroked-out small-block Mopar with w-2 heads he's asked me to put together with new gaskets it's got 11.3 compression ratio so we're gonna need a recent fuel with this with cast iron heads and my client says Nick put on the vinyl and I want to know if I'm gonna put it in my car or not so I put it all together with all the same parts all new gaskets and put on the dyno he wants to see what's gonna happen so from there he's gonna decide if he's gonna sell the engine or put it in the car I also want to get worked out on the Hemi soon we're going to Franklin Massachusetts Frank I didn't forget about it I still have yourself the heads here and I know you don't have a car yet so I'm just trying to get rid of the jobs that people waiting for so I could get done waiting to put into vehicles so don't worry Frank we'll get it done soon this is the one we want to test it with that looming image versus cast Arnez and of course he blocked almost all dead I've talked about it before in the previous videos we need to test on the dyno and run it hot run it put it to the pace and see if it holds two tests we're gonna do in this test the world didn't work on the side of the block and aluminum versus cast on heads on the same engine and now let's go on to the dyno which I haven't finished with the three threes I've been working on that we copied out of hot rod come and see and I've got the 3d three here we finished off doing with the torque or intake manifold that we pulled out a 422 horsepower out of it [Applause] [Music] our goal is to hit 455 like hard water but they used an m1 intake manifold so I want to thank Doug from Ontario that got me this m1 intake just like hot rod use the same thing we got it this week we had it installed so now ready to do the testing like apples versus apples the only thing is I just want to make a test with my carburetor 750 on the m1 in take the exact same engine hard walk built and then at the end my customer also has an 850 demon and this is how hot rod finished off the engine with the 3 d3 setup they used an 850 demon and just what my client has and this is what we're gonna do we're gonna finish off for testing with the demon and see how it goes and see what kind of horse part we're gonna get the only difference overall of the whole engine everything was a copy except that hard rod had a 9.2 compression ratio I ended up with a nine point four it's because I use the thinner head gasket which was a twenty thousand thirty nine fel-pro gasket thirty-ninth our cascade and which doesn't matter 9 49 mph or not a very big difference but after all after I put the demon on this intake manifold we're gonna have the same engine hot why built [Music] you [Music] okay so now we're gonna just get it started and if all the testicle as well it's ready for delivery so John if you're watching here we are just about to get it started okay let's say let's make some noise let me see oh my details are in there we go 300 rpms per second we're taking it up to 6,000 rpm and we're gonna start it at 3500 here we go [Music] that's when you have no joke all we did was there replaced intake manifold now we have an issue let me see let me keep trying [Music] [Music] somebody's wrong something's wrong I don't know I gotta figure out what's going on here no backfires and check the firing order who knows and then again we did not touch the firing order whatsoever let me take a look let me take a look one eight four four three six six six five seven two two this is correct number one is this one one eight four three this is a three five there's number five okay that's good why is it not working we have a Viking week or anything no everything's there okay here we go let's try it again seems to be missing [Music] [Music] these guys back you gotta look into it [Music] I have a feeling that the gasket is leaking or something I'm not so sure but not just your wine like to make sure it is [Music] right out [Music] super-nice Nick knows that the engine won't perform properly if it's leaking vacuum so he begins the process of finding any possible loss he sprays where he suspects there might be a leak and listens for an increase in rpm and to make things all the more difficult the secondary screen inside the Dino room has chosen today to quit I knew it I have anything monopoly oh well we're gonna take it all apart here we go I knew I should install paper on this by putting paper you're raising you take more because when you when you take the block you mill the head the intake has to be as milled also or the intake side of the cylinder head I had the intake manifold milk but milled down but seems like it's still very tight so I'm gonna head up again I'm gonna empty gasket on it and hopefully I get still bolted back on here we go [Music] you know we had the intake I had the intake manifold milled because you know when you take the block or when you mill the heads they had to get closer and other was the V smaller so yeah I'll do you play in the intake manifold or you pain the leaks out of the cell net but since the heads are still on the engine which I had a milk about 2012 I made no different so I had the intake mill and now I need to help it I saw the paper gasket hopefully stop the vacuum leak and let's go a go [Music] and let's do some noises okay let's hope this has no biking right now yeah it should be good this was it was from another viewer on our channel I want to thank the ball they're all good people and I say that it I'll say it again we have a lot of good viewers on our Channel there we go [Music] somebody we're gonna warm it up and adjust the car Beto still running [Music] [Music] I guess we're ready okay let's make a test let's make our first test with the m1 ETA with my 750 Holley carburetor which I just bought lately and then I don't see what we get with that and then after that we'll go with the 850 demon that John brought us that that's exactly what hot rod use okay let's proceed with test number one here we go [Music] you know [Applause] right [Music] [Music] well what happened there something went wrong we became less power than we did before I think it cracked up or something yeah I broke up high rpm but we'll take a look at it [Music] I just got to put the load on and that's going [Music] here we go [Music] [Applause] shut up at $6 a name again we're not doing the same thing something wrong we're only making 415 horsepower we did more with the torque er but I believe something went wrong I don't believe it's intake manifold I'm gonna check everything else right now let's find out [Music] [Music] Wow we're going power ok let's take a few things sure now I didn't run lean let me see your money no twelve eight twelve nine timing is good all over eight swords are firing let's see we got full throttle they see if we got full follow let me check this out now [Music] it's funny okay that's good full-throttle no problem why were you not making Paulo hmm except we lost power why we're stuck at 4:15 HP you know in mind the torque we just got to find that horsepower now I wonder what's wrong it sounds like it's not like something shut it off at near 6000 rpm we got double ball springs in their dual ball springs are in there and the air fuel ratio 1512 a 12-9 information is good why all I know is timing is good you take the timing light out there all we did was replace the intake manifold nothing else so let me take a look just push the gain power now lose power what could it be what's the same distributor same wiring everything is the same nothing's changed nothing's changed why are we having this problem now all the children's are farming I heard it cracking up at high rpm very strange let's see now what's going on it did go to 6000 get in it yes it did hmm and we're using factory lockers open there's no book and walkers but then again I don't hear any noises we all approaches good no lifter pop out of place so everything's intact I'm sure of that where do we lose our kind of power now every cent nick is finding himself in the middle of a dyno room mystery he decides to cool the engine down do another test and see what happens but in the middle of the next poll his dyno seems to develop a glitch i'ma change anything I looked at everything look everything looks good I'm just gonna make one more test see exactly what's going on timing is good fuel is good we have full throttle the rev limiter is up where it should be and let's go [Music] [Applause] what happened there just as the engine was hitting the tests upper limit it seemed to miss once and at the same moment the computer running the dyno crashed [Applause] [Music] I don't know what happened wait a minute [Music] looks like gonna have to shut the whole system down I don't know what's going on but something went to cert here maybe because it's a very hot day I don't know for some reason my system went down I'm gonna look into it I'm gonna upgrade it let it cool down and we're gonna start up and show those again later on here we go [Music] I'm gonna take it at 1:47 the temperature doesn't matter [Applause] [Music] we broke up at 6,000 I felt I felt it now let's look at the graph here's the graph check this out for 15 for 18 horsepower but I cracked up at exactly 6,000 an online store power is in at 58 59 it's not strange every since of changes intake manifold we're losing power why don't we try to demon on that intake that's the way it was so let's go with the demon okay let's shut it down let's go to the demon I know it's a bit carburetor but anyways that's what the hot water dip so let's see what we get here it is and let's go for it something tells me I don't think this is it take my phone what's to work maybe it's got low velocity I'm not sure but you know what one way to find out I made some tests I made one with the video with 422 horsepower then I did another test one night and I pulled out 426 horsepower with this intake manifold right here the torque 3d3 let's make some more testing with this and see how it goes [Music] [Music] so right now we have a set up exactly the way hard water has it m1 intake 850 demon do many differences after all the whole package hard one had a 9.2 compression ratio and because I used a thinner head gasket I got a nine point four Caprice ratio in this engine that is the only difference so now let's get it started with my clients to 850 demon just the way hot rod dead and let's how it goes [Music] it's really very lean here we go [Music] you're going to have 40 there it is right there [Music] okay we've got the air/fuel got the demon on there let's go let's make some noise let's see it well the demon get rid of the gremlins well let's find out [Music] I can't run it it's running way too lean way to me so I don't have to do some chatting on this here it is there a few racial one we're that way to read so I need to just reaching out the carburetor so we have to change the Jets on this demon let's go well we got a long day ahead of us [Music] all right we just replace the Jets on the demons running way to lean on full throttle when I had at the beginning of the RPMs so we've generated it up I wanted to make sure to get the right air fuel ratio before we make a test and yeah we're just about to get started and here we go [Music] I went up for numbers and it's still running to lean oh look at that Wayne over Wayne over okay that's rich in the dr. Morici where we get here we go back to the drawing board [Music] all right we're itching it up some more so let's write again [Music] we're still not making that power we're still stuck at 416 HP air fuel ratio it's it's on the inside I got a really rich in and out Jesus thirteen point five thirteen point eight full throttle know that we're still running very lean so we're gonna go reaching it up a couple more times in that day that sat out in one back with my 750 Holley 416 we're still a long way to go [Music] Nik has all the same parts that hot rod magazine used when they claimed to make 455 horsepower with their 383 build but Nick was doing better before he put the m1 intake and demon carb into the mix [Music] he's not the type to give up easy so he tries again going even bigger with the Jets and the current set up I think I've maxed out the Jets on this I went up seven eight numbers on each end I'm not gonna go any further if it shows to lean I'm just gonna go back with my 750 so I can compare intake manifolds here we go air fuel ratio on we're still nowhere near what we've done with our original torque or intake with my 750 [Applause] [Applause] 6,000 rpm that's it no matter what I do no matter what I do air fuel ratio is a bit on the lean side but I'm not gonna go any further I got thirteen point four thirteen point three a full-throttle but you know what we're not making the power we should we're at 414 415 416 at 6000 rpm 59 you know what I don't think there's anything mom was working at all seems like whatever we do today diamond carbon with that m18 take I'm stuck at 4:15 416 HP torque is up at 426 at 4400 rpm so this is what we've got right there let's put her on the graph take a look at it there it is and and on my previous video we've did a few tests with the tour critic manifold with my 750 we pulled out a four 22 horsepower veal and the night before I've done another test same way back-to-back 440 torque 426 horsepower and we got nowhere near those numbers with that m1 intake so for some reason the engines running smooth the timing is good there if you're Rachel Reynolds on the lean side with this carburetor is it an 850 demon I don't know there's no numbers on it so I'm not gonna bother with that anymore I'm gonna put back my porker intake with this demon and see what it does so this is what we're gonna gain in horsepower or not here we go you know something tells me for some reason I think this intake mouth was not working with this engine for some reason maybe it's got no velocity I don't know so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna run back my torque he'd take manifold I want to see if I could get back into the four 20s which I did not hit at all to date with this intake manifold so in other words let's put back on the torque er and see what we get [Music] ready let's make some noise okay let's go that's how it goes now I'm gonna warm up a little bit let's go okay this is what we got now we had a 419 at 5700 and I think it was a bit I've been on the lean side 12 9 13 13 1 that's okay for some reason that's an old car Vader this demon we hit a 419 HP right here I'll put her on the graph you guys can see it right there now this is with the torque curve 3 d3 take manifold which is 850 demon maybe we should make another test back to back just to see ok let's go we'll do it again here we go I'm doing it back to back just to make sure you know the sometimes in your what test is not good enough you know they will say yeah you make three tests yeah your / yeah animal 3/3 egos or horsepower so that's average so I'm gonna do a back to back test without touching up nice out goes there are those when I ran a warm engineer so don't think this is gonna work yeah well back up there for 16 I think that carpet is killing it for us we take it back in our 4 20s yet we came close to a 419 but this time I'll run 180 degrees Fahrenheit kind of warm I ran it in much cooler before we lost a few horses but we're at 416 horsepower at 5800 rpm I want to go back with my 750 it's a brand new carburetor it's a race version so I'm gonna put it back calling without 12 33 I don't want to see my kid get back up to the 422 426 HP that we had before let's go for it so with a spin of his magic wrenches Nik transforms the old demon carburetor into a brand new racing 750 and prepares for another test [Music] [Music] Uriel [Music] there you have it so we're gaining back on the torque or 3d three I hit the 420 s plus we got a four twenty four point six air fuel ratio is good twelve eight twelve nine thirteen flats whatever fuel rich is good and this is our graph right here on this test that we just pulled right here 441 torque and 424 we're back where we started from right here here you go check this out are we just digging one test I don't want to make another test back to back like we say without changing nothing let's make a test [Music] [Applause] after that that's it you make the same power yup 425 for 23rd is there stuck up for 25 there you have it we have the same power like we had last week so we went back with the torque or 383 with my 750 we went back up to the 425 horsepower range meanwhile I maxed out this won or roughly 420 so this one really made less power than my talker 383 hardware said just intake to use to make 450 plus horsepower I don't know why I didn't make that kind of power in mate lessons October 33 does this seat take make more velocity then the m1 I'm not so sure this is making more power more torque for us so at the moment I'm leaving it on I might do a further testing later on during the week but for now I'm leaving it as it is so you guys if you wanted to know what's happening with an m1 it did not work for me and you guys what do you think leave me a comment let me know and thanks for joining me on a hot day here in the dining room stay tuned [Music] and you guys if you look down below the video we have a bunch of merchandise that you guys can buy so whatever you like my it love it wear it and enjoy it and help spread the word of Rick's garage and if you have some time check out a patreon page we have extra content and you guys can watch it and take it from there and we'll see you next time [Music] [Music]
