the source of all knowledge because it is the very seat of your perception and cognition and it is the seat of bliss imagine this point of light mentally here oh a few times now imagine that light expand expand and embrace Encompass everything in its light one Consciousness everything shines in that Consciousness alone you are Brahman the self pure being now slowly open your eyes see today's discussion will be on self identity is made you pass through this small meditation quickly self-identities a lot depends on your understanding of this everything almost depends on your understanding of yourself because you know this is a psychological law that your understanding of yourself determines how you will understand other people and the world around you um if your understanding of yourself is only I'm this physical body naturally then you are only the body I will see you only like that isn't it um at least if we are identified strongly with our thought great ideas and thoughts and great values whatever I will see that around me I will relate with that so your understanding of yourself is very important self identity identity we are functioning through a body mind complex but we are not the body mind compressive see this is the magic of human life you are functioning through a mechanism which you can explore through and through you can explore which means you are not that is see if I can see my hand obviously I am different from the hand isn't it I am seeing the hand is object of my perception so I am some subject for whom this is object studying body that's why medical science is there which studies body as object psychological Sciences study mind as object so then who are you if you are studying the body and mind obviously or apart from them so who are you this is vedant see you must have a grasp over this great tradition I'm telling you this will simply turn your life around it's not tremendous thought process hey so some introduction to that I'm going awareness one can reach pure consciousness you see mental awareness that is the source of your mental awareness and deepen it through meditation you will go into that difficult y the all the problem you must put aside what you are not and you will be what you are that's all foreign you sit and learn to think properly and clearly what is the fundamental thing about my being it is your awarenessa thoughts so thoughts are foreign to your being but you identified with them and made them your own and through that thought mechanism you identified strongly with the body please see if this is also true by yourself you don't even feel you're the body now if I pinch you you will suddenly realize oh yes body is there by yourself are you aware of the body always body conscious a healthy body will forget itself but an unhealthy body will remember that it is there and an unhealthy mind also remembers that it is only the body because it is all a kind of conditioning which you have done by yourself your only self-aware whose awareness may you perceive a body and mind this is your own experience just now yeah is this true or not tell me each one of you should say yes then only I will proceed um yes you are only self-aware whose awareness may we are perceiving a body and mind and only through the mind you are perceiving the body so this is as much object of perception as any other object I am the self that is animating this it will turn around your life and the your goals of life so just the satisfaction of this is not the goal of life it cannot be naturally higher mental development and full awareness will become the goal of life if you invest in something small you will get only small life if you invest in the real thing you will get the real life you won't even remain Fully Alive if you only invest in matter Hannah that is why you see you don't require any other philosophy of materialism anti-materialism spiritualism just understand yourself and you will see what you have to do next so all these points which I have put there is nothing but quest for self-identity which is what vedanta is about a very cryptic small statements about your real being nothing more they say actually it is all about going to the core of what you are understanding as being you should do it by yourself once you understand this that my own real nature is this you will automatically invest in this time energy you will invest in this knowledge and if you feel you are only this body you will invest only in food big house jewelry all this material objects getting pleasure out of the body that's all that will be the goal of isilia this knowledge will automatically Elevate Life you see more points I will give you about yourself see in any Act of perception or cognition the self is shining there it is only in your awareness that you ever perceive or cognize but we miss out this point knowledge we miss out this point it is becoming so obvious to just see now ah see I am seeing this screen I'm just saying I feel no it's not that easy it is only because my mind has the capacity to illumine whatever is coming through this that I am able to see it and my mind itself is illumined by another source so actually speaking perceptions they pass through all dimensions of your personality you know the electromagnetic radiation from this is imprinting on my physical self so my eyes are getting the electromagnetic radiation from there it is going to the physiological aspect is going to the visual cortex in my brain inverted image goes to the visual cortex of my brain through the thalamus which acts like a filter you see the electromagnetic radiation and my neurophysiology make me experience the thing a complete three-dimensional experience in real space and time and the entire Beauty and depth and profundity of whatever image you are taking in it becomes an experience with me why because I am self-aware fundamentally foreign so I experience something only because I am self-aware I want you to catch this point and this entire perception occurs at across my physical physiological neurological psychological and metaphysical dimensions of my being q key from the brain we don't know how we experience you will know how we experience only when you posit the power of your attention and mindfulness in grasping this object and the fact that your mind is illumined by Consciousness standing behind the mind so you see you are perceiving across the physical physiological psychological neurological before the psychological neuro then psychological and metaphysical aspects of your own being sub dimensions of you then the experience is possible yeah we feel automatically it is going on automatic essay it's so interesting now when you see yourself you know you people click selfies no no yeah now when you are admiring your selfie this also you do so who is admiring what tell me now you should explain in this language vedantic language who is admiring what ah see automatically he said I am admiring my face which means face is object of my perception automatically is saying that involved like that point okay your intelligence is is interpreting your mind seeing your body is through your intellect actually the the picture who seeing the picture my mind finally and my intelligence there is interpreting my mind seeing my body and who is Illuminating that intelligence my conscience consciousness so any simple Act of perception also all dimensions of your being are there this is what I am telling you this is the great contribution of the signs of yog vedan it will explain the entire process of perception magnificently how do you know this is the epistemology but if you exclude attention and Consciousness can you explain in purely neurophysiological terms can you explain perception you won't know how the brain generates three dimensional image in real space and time nobody can explain that the fact that how do I experience something comes only because you are self-aware your awareness and attention are invested in this process a robot will not experience things as I do as I told you so which means experiences intrinsically connected to your awareness if I don't know enough about awareness my experiences will be hazy not clear and if I know if I am fully aware my experience is enhanced automatically not just the visual any experience of your life only when you are fully alive it's a full it's full living just passing through life isn't it um so how to generate this level of aliveness and intense awareness this is the whole point your identity is invest actually there but you assumed you are only the body it is a pure unadulterated assumption [Music] they live a very small life have you seen just trying to please others and trying to look beautiful to others so that people will find me pleasing your experience is always in the first person if you don't enhance your awareness you will never experience yourself fully so you only limit Yourself by doing all this butane so understand this very well please remember your the enhancement of your experience of life depends on your awareness unless that is uncovered and enhanced you will not experience life the sheer beauty of life as it is you will experience little part of life that's all life is not enhanced by name and fame and material objects life is enhanced by vital energy by the power of vital energy life is enhanced by the power of your awareness see the simple Act of perception I will show you slides and you will see at the core of every perception is your consciousness let me show you the slides on this what I am trying to tell you see behind every cognition is the self now science will tell you that bird is flying there what is actually happening the electromagnetic radiation which that object throws out enters your eye you know the color of that bird is actually not red it is throwing out red light the color of that bird is actually what it catches and holds but you'll never know that color so you never see the object as it is but as your equipment will allow you to perceived so it threw out red color so that level of wavelength that wavelength went into your eye of electromagnetic radiation and it went from there put a inverted image on the retina and went to your cortex visual cortex from there the electromagnetic radiation and your neurochemistry generated for you the experience how nobody knows this is the explanation of science but in your vedant in yoga and vedant we put it like this see the same bird is there but when it went into your brain there is a corresponding Hardware to your brain ah the I am sorry brain is the hardware there is a corresponding software to your brain that is your mind foreign there was a kind of modification of the mind which was illumined by awareness the mental awareness and that generated your sense of the object that is why you had the experience of the object see this is more scientific if you ask me it explains in a deeper way and first person you know what is happening in your mind isn't it you may not know what is happening in your brain you require fmri scan to tell you that what where it Sparkles your brain but to know what is happening in your mind you don't require fmri that this is what is called first person perspective you know what is happening in your mind so you you can clearly see the wreathy of the object in your mind is illumined by awareness that is why the object feels real you have experience of the object so your aliveness and awareness contributes to every perception yes not just this vedanta shows you tells you something even more obvious and important see you people will be able to appreciate this intellectual capacity if you have very biased views see I also am trained in science only but I never got biased by thinking that science is available to enormous growth its not the ultimate thing as yet it is it is still growing so you must be able to understand that all these also includes is is part and parcel of science it's the science of Consciousness in vedan they will tell you something even more obvious than this let me say this entire process whether it is the collection of electromagnetic light going into the visual cortex create the creation of perceptions and cognitions that is all so any ah such an important idea of science please understand yoga and vedant will throw more light on that it is not excluding life vedanta is in fact entering the heart of Life Consciousness is the source of your Prana source of your vital energy so how can you take you away from life it will only enhance life the more conscious you become the more Your vitality gets enhanced so your experiences will be magical because you will get the highest joys of life if you know these things isn't it pretty obvious see that's why I gave you this the understanding Vivekananda understanding vedant will help you really live life enjoy life otherwise you will be thinking something like for example you go and have go to a fast food restaurant and have some rubbish and it is supposed to be enjoyment but yeah it's supposed to be enjoyment but you know at night well it was no good for you it is not first person experiences contrary to third person perspective everything in life is like that please see experience you know for each one of us it's like that so if you track the highest experiences you are capable of you will see their experiences in full awareness is TK so then you must know what to concentrate upon in life so if GDP this is the meaning but you must know how to live a really valuable life so that the objects that come into your life the people that come into your life enhance your experience of life and not blur it if you yourself are half awake foreign we are like that you how will you have complete experience if you are half awake we are only half awake and half alive when you don't do yoga and vedant you are only half alive May uh they can what half alive it's a torture something like that when the mind is not fully awake it was only half alive how much will it experience life in fact it will experience the torture of life so take care of these factors otherwise you live a very mediocre life that is why I put these things for you so then the whole Spotlight falls on the conscious experience you can only deepen it deepening the conscious experience by handling vital energy maturely yoga and meditation value-based living and service whether you like it or not whether you want to do it or not this is the written this is the Rhythm of Life tomorrow you will have six figure salary at least 10 percent should go in service activities then you will have the satisfaction of life because for 25 years thousands of people have labored to make you what you are okay so this is the practical way of following these steps ten percent of your income should go into service activities ten percent of your energy should be invested in building on the energy in other lives then you will see you will radiate positivity yoga just talking accumulating and through unless what you call Pleasure and uh entertainment that is a cheap way of living actually speaking I told you it is exactly like eating bad food after some time the effect you don't like it so learn to live a satwik life yoga naturally you will understand that my conscious experience decides my the joy of my life and a conscious experience yeah yoga and meditation service activities handling your vital energy maturely not allowing it to waste on nonsense and value values in life commitment committed relationships 25 years back if you waste your energies in non-committed relationships you will systematically ruin your life this is the fact because your vital energy functions like that destroy your life energy henna it doesn't care for who you are or what you are you handle it properly it will handle you properly so don't go into all this negative ways of living today's youngsters don't understand these fundamentals of life it was part and parcel of our culture like in kahapur we have lost touch with that today you must understand it at least in scientific terms my own energy is being wasted my own energy is being compromised on unnecessary things I will not do it so if you save yourself from some of these things the positivity of your life will grow you see like and then you will live a great life you are studying you will see that level of attention will be very keen and they are also somewhere deeply conscious isn't it by being unaware you cannot get anything in life no it's putting your drugs and drinks are putting down awareness what do you expect to happen as a result of that you can't put down life and yet have great experience of life the essential thing is this Thomas means this only where mind is you know you are dragging the body as it were dragging the mind because it's so thomasic very little awareness all kinds of muddled thinking and nonsensical thoughts you must remove this from life if you are truly intelligent no you will do it quickly the essentials must be retained life should be deepened conscious experience should be depend better to be rajasik than tamasik foreign obeys you it is not going in different directions no negative conditioning is there so no negative thoughts then you bring whatever you want into your life it is a matter of joy you are not going to get mixed up with that you bring anything you want a Mercedes you bring it in you want a big home you bring that in But first you should settle within yourself yes yes and comparison with a machine yes if machine has a good like if a machine is seeing a photo and has previously seen its own photo a robot will also recognize that it's slightly with a some probability like understand that it is that is the difference between that experience and really looking at my phone oh there's a world of difference see when a robot sees herself let's say huh she can recognize oh this is my frame but she cannot feel it as me she can there's no feeling behind it because she's programmed to recognize whatever is in front of her it is limited to the recognition but there is no experience of it as me because there is no self-awareness it is it is me this is me she will not experience that she just recognized but you will experience a whole lot of things when you see your photo isn't it you know very well that is me it's the goodness whether it's I consider it good or not good it's not just about goodness essentially you know that is a living entity which is me it's about life it's about awareness where there is no self-awareness there is no real experience self-experience is not there is just tracking it's a it becomes memory for her suppose a robot is seeing her face it is a memory pack which she sees she has been programmed to perceive whatever she that also how she will see it is she will see it as another mechanism which is similar to what has been fed into her as herself only that much she will say she is not going to experience herself in that because she has no sense of herself but we have such a sense of being only because we are self-aware the heart of this awareness is the Atman the more you declutter the mind and enhance awareness the better will be your experiences see to perceive a simple object like that bird which I showed you see the mind is very clear Consciousness is in full bloom you know you will perceive all the beauty of that bird but if your mind is full of worries you're looking but you're not seeing isn't it so your mind attention and awareness produce your experience primarily and if you don't even have an object suppose you are fully awake within yourself but no object still you can experience the bird if you just think of it isn't this true so then you should first work on generating that level of life within you so that koi ho yeah it won't matter so much you are see this is what is called mukti freedom you have become independent and stable within yourself so nothing shakes you um you have become independent of everything to generate experience within you you can generate whatever you want by yourself isn't this a grand way of living tell me huh you are on your own feet all the time yes karma is very very important yes ultimately that decides how far you can go that karmic backpack or backup whatever you call it that should be very positive and intense positive Karma again you have done good throughout your life mind will naturally go into all this foreign it will impel your soul towards the highest if you have good karma is see when we were students no weekends May one or two students you should help a little okay you go out reach out and do something for somebody who cannot repay you to somebody who cannot repay you to them you should do and you will see the the sheer broadness of your mind expanded Consciousness you will generate as a result you will feel so good you know from within this is karma if if you do good this thing this path will open up for you if you don't do good no matter how much I tell you or explain here karma karma positive tomorrow when you pass out of IIT and get your dream job first salary put it at your parents feet enormous sacrifice to make you what you are and commit yourself to 10 percent of your salary should go into public service activities educate the children of the helpers in your home you will find this enormous work can be done in Indian Society you will find somebody or the other to help every month 10 percent of your income is going for that you will see your your mind will awaken to a different Consciousness altogether life may when you bring joy into another life you become joyous simple cheesecake um so I think we will stop here any other question yes in my mind for a long time actually yesterday there was an assignment deadline and I've been trying for a week to complete the assignment I gave full three days full days like it still could not so now I don't feel very bad but what should I expect from me when I'm not able to do something which I should have done so what should I expect from me should I be all careless or I mean what should be my reaction if it does not affect me as we say nothing should affect me as much what should be my reaction see when I say nothing should affect you I don't mean that what you had to do you could not do and still you remain unaffected I don't mean that if you had to do something and you could not do it you should feel sorry you should feel you should find out why I couldn't do it and you should be able to do your what you have will to do see this is the human capacity which animals don't have what I want to do I should be able to do and I should not remain unaffected if it is not done I should feel sorry I should cry I should feel bad when should I remain unaffected when there is negativity around me which is harming me then I should learn to remain unaffected but when I am defeated by myself I should be deeply affected is um it's a crime against yourself you now you should put all your energy and Achieve what you want to achieve but I told you a sizable part of your whatever you achieve should go into public welfare then you will have all the peace and happiness you require you check this out and says after 10 years my many of my students have come and told me this after 10 years you will come and tell me mataji but don't forgive yourself if you are not able to achieve your goals okay let's stop here um
