The breeze of air is
getting colder already, right? Or in English,
Baby it's cold outside. So it means that we should
be making Puto Bumbong. And this year unfortunately, it seems
like I can't do I usually do back then. That I really go to every
cities, I always seat on a chair and I'm gonna eat Puto
Bumbong on the sides of street. So let us make one
into our houses. Let's bring it outside and let's
enjoy the breeze of cold air, right? So this one is an easy version,
it's a pretending Puto Bumbong. The reason why it's called Puto Bumbong,
Puto from the rice so rice cake, Bumbong, using the bamboo... The bamboo that is circular,
those that are done like this. Right? And now, we are not gonna do
some sort of this because I'm sure that many of you will say,
"Do I still need to buy that?" "We don't have that
one here in Europe." So it's grandeur, right? So today, let's prepare
a very easy version. It's just as simple as this. So first,
I have here water. I will put a bit of Ube
power on the water. You can also use the
Flavocol, the liquid one. There's no problem with that,
anything that you're available with. So even the containers of my
ingredients are really native, right? So that will
bring the color. Although traditionally, those
Puto Bumbong back then, okay? They use the pirurutong
or like.... purple rice. So you just mix your
Ube powder on the water and then I have here
glutinous rice flour. Of course, I'm using
Peotraco Brand. And then I have here
plain rice flour. You should not use a
pure glutinous rice flour because if you use
pure glutinous rice flour, it will quickly become hard,
so we noticed that, okay? The texture of
your Puto Bumbong. That's why we're mixing it
with some plain rice flour and then in here, we have
grated coconut already. If you don't have grated coconut,
you are living overseas, you can really put a bit of
desiccated coconut, no problem. Or desiccated coconut, you soak here in
water first so it will become a bit soft, right? And then the next step, you
pour your Ube water gradually. You're really gonna use
your bare hands on it. Until it forms into
a smooth dough. You pour more. You can add more water if
you want your dough softer so that your Puto Bumbong
would become soft. There it is, right? It's color
is already Puto Bumbong. The one pretending here is just only
the process but it's taste is delicious. The pouring of water
is just gradual. The water is 1 1/4 cups,
you may not use all of that. So like this as you can see,
it seems I have 2 tbsps left here but it is already.....
I'm gonna remove it here. My dough is already sticky. So you just knead
this until smooth. Okay, make sure that
there is no lumps anymore. It's just like you are
making Palitaw. There it is, right? Just light zumba. Light Zumba Christmas Edition. There it is, right? The water is 1 1/4 cup,
I have left about 2 tbsps. It just also depends sometimes on
the brand of the glutinous rice flour. It also depends on the weather. As long as the tip is
you don't pour it all. Do not pour it all. Even your feelings, don't pour
it all so that you will not get hurt. Right? It's just also the same when it
comes in making Puto Bumbong. So that you won't be
frustrated, just a bit only and then next, there,
it's smooth already. You stop mixing it
once it turn smooth and then you just form
it into a log like this. And then I'm going to get a flat
scraper, you just divide it into balls. It depends on you, okay?
The size is up to you. If you want it Jumbo Puto Bumbong,
then divide it into bigger pieces. This is like just the
ordinary Puto Bumbong and then there, you just roll it
into a shape of Puto Bumbong. There it is, right? It won't be noticed anymore that
you haven't done this sort of thing coming from the bamboo....
what's that? The.....
what do you call that? The tube,
bamboo tube. There. There it is, right? And then this is how you do it. I have here banana leaves
and then I have here butter. You can also use margarine. Then you arrange this. After putting a piece,
you brush it with butter. So that it will
not gonna stick. You will stick it like that but when cooked,
you don't want it sticking like that. Okay, that's just 4 pieces only. I know that it does
not look the standard. That wouldn't react at all if you are
gonna put 5 pieces, 6 pieces, right? I am just use on
having it 4 pcs. And then you
just fold it. Just like that. There it is, right? It still needs to
be steam, okay? Because you may thought
that it's done already. Some of you might mistakenly think that
it's already like a finished Puto Bumbong. Okay, let's do one more. Just roll it. The thickness of the Puto Bumbong
is also up to you, right? You can make it thicker,
you can make it thinner. The beauty about
this recipe, okay? You can prepare it
ahead of time. Let's say that you'll make a lot
of that already in the morning, you will just wrap it up and then
you'll just steam that on afternoon. And you don't need any specialty
equipment, just a plain steamer will do. If you want it darker in color,
you can put more Ube flavoring or if you don't want it to taste Ube,
what you can do is just put food color. Oh my! It seems like
I failed to roll in this one. So let's try. It's because I have already been
dripped by the steamer in here that's why it's a bit.... Then you close. So it's actually switched. There it is, right? So I'm going to continue doing this
and then later, you watch me. I will set up a table
outside the house and then I'm going to
sell Puto Bumbong already. Okay, so we are
going to cook it next. Alright, so there.... Oh my! Facial galore
Christmas Edition. Let's set it up already. So I have made 1,2,3,6
sets of Puto Bumbong and then you just
steam it, just like that. For around 10 minutes, 10 to
12 minutes, it's cooked already. So let's go back on it
after 10 to 12 minutes. So there it is, the Puto
Bumbong is already ready. After 12 minutes of... Oh! In fairness. It do really smell like a
Puto Bumbong but there is really the smell of Puto Bumbong
with the smell of Suman because of course,
you steam it, right? I am also not saying
that this one is original. I even said in the beginning that
it is a pretending Puto Bumbong but if this is gonna make us
happy during this time, right? Why not?! Oh look. It also does not look like
that it is pretending. So you look at it. Right? And look how soft... You fold the sides like that. So that it would look
good in the picture. I know that the most important when you are
able to make Puto Bumbong at home is the picture. There it is, right? There's a lot of trendy toppings now but
you already know that I like classic, right? Just kidding. So you put butter. If your visitor has not yet arrived, so
visitors are actually not allowed, right? If your visitor is still not there,
so your pretending visitor, you cover it first
and then you put.... It's also not in proper order, okay?
It all just depends on you. On what order is going
to make yourself happy. This is grated coconut. If you don't have grated coconut in
your place or wherever place you might be, you can use desiccated coconut, this is
muscovado sugar and this is queso de bola. It looks so fancy. To the point that you can't
believe that you made that. But me, I want to believe
so I am going to taste it. So how I eat it is I
mix the toppings first. There it is, right?
Oh... it's so soft. Look at it,
it's so soft. See how soft it is,
it didn't fight off. Let us taste it. You know that the mixture
feels like mixed emotions, you might say that
I'm having a drama again. Oh! You're not gonna
finish the video anymore. The mixed emotions that I'm very happy
I was able to make this one in house but at the same time, it's also sad
because it's the situation, right? But let's pray for the best that soon, we are
able to eat Puto Bumbong on the street sides while we are having conversation with the
people sitting besides of us on the street sides. Right? But it's essential for us to be
good vibes and positive thinking, you are able to make this
anytime at your house. That when you're eating Puto Bumbong,
that they are separating the strips. So you can also make it on this even
if it's just your pretending Puto Bumbong. Oh my! Make one already. Now already! Because this is only the pretentious food
that is still really gonna make you happy. Okay. So happy Puto
Bumbong making. Take care and I'm going
to see you very soon :)
