[Music] killer [Music] me [Music] [Music] [Music] congratulations brother thank you [Music] [Music] what it could be hopefully what it should be this is your boy n-o-r-e what up it's dj efn and this millions heavy crazy world radio drink chance [ __ ] yapping out [Applause] i'm gonna be honest uh when we introducing this next guest he has he has been sipping from the fountain of youth for about 20 something years he's not aged at all he looks the same his bard level is has increased and increased and increased it's not to say that he's selling more drugs but the rap has been getting better if there's something called rap steroids pretty sure he invented it better and better with time he's been able to fulfill the dream that i always wanted to do i always wanted to have pharrell and swiss beats produce the whole album but he got someone he got pharrell and kanye something i never even thought of i mean this album is really really like fine wine i mean he comes from my era so i wanted to critique it i wanted to find the flaws in it i wanted to be like yeah well you ain't do this this this or you ain't do it's not there it's not there people i try to analyze it i try to analyze the the something and it's not there this album is excellent so then when you hear the the man who represents black excellence diddy comes on and trust me if he ain't getting paid he don't promote [ __ ] we've tried [Laughter] and he gets on there and says this is the album this is it we're not playing around out here this man has been able to maintain the level of what is the relevancy in different eras without being old it's crazy from cast on to whoever he can work with to kendrick he can work with and stand the test of time in case you don't know who the [ __ ] i'm talking about you talking about the one the [ __ ] only push it [ __ ] [Applause] i can't lie to you pusher i really did look at the album and i wanted to do it not as a friend okay uh i don't want to say as a journalist but yeah let's say that i wanted to look at it with someone i could be like man and it was one thing that i did and then they shut me up i said damn he don't got no radio racket and then the little oozy bird came in and just smacked me got the [ __ ] up how do you maintain that because this is it's hard bro and especially getting money the more money we get the hunger goes away yeah that's true so i mean yeah man i ain't been hungry in a long time right i don't know so how do you maintain that hunk on that mic level man i'm i've made it my business to first of all i only know how to rap one way i only know lyric driven metaphors rap street rap that's it and you're comfortable with that and that's what i'm comfortable right i know if i step outside of that i'ma look like a clown right right that's just not that's not me right um you know but i only know how to do it one way so i've made it my business to make sure lyrically it's it stays up you know it can stand up against whatever's popular out there as well like that's how i attack it i listen to everything that's going on musically huh yeah yeah yeah i like her yeah yeah but you know um i listen to all the young all the young all the young music and um and listening to it while i'm writing i'm definitely thinking like man how how can these flows how can these bounces how can the things that i'm saying you know still relate to them still relate to them and and they get it or they just respect it it's not you know it's like the same way i can't do what they do but i'm pretty sure they can't do what i do either right but we got to respect each other's craft right and that's how i attack it right because there was something like i seen the call the raid video on the brevis club yeah it was something that charlemagne said that really hit me he said um one thing you can never really like praise too much as youth right because if you're really good you're youth goals right you're going to say what i'm saying like don't get it look at the twitter you could be young forever like you said you'll be young forever but um is is that something that you you pride your pride yourself on is because you know the longevity like we didn't coming up we didn't realize damn cute tip this is you know crazy we didn't realize that they're here 15 years right we didn't realize and we didn't realize how hard that was is that something that you you you meditated and thought about or was that something that just came out well it's been it's been a it's been part of my race i put this this has been in my plan right this has been a part of my race um you know when i think about all the greats that i ever loved everybody who was like popping i mean you know everybody i tried to young and trying to dress like and put on clothes like cut my eyebrows and all everything i was i did right daddy kane yeah of course okay of course when i think about it they only had three joints three albums maybe maybe five if you look at the verses between kane and and krs you kind of realize like damn kane only probably had three albums like maybe wow maybe who's whose fault you think that would be theirs as an artist or the industry at the time nah i think it's i think it's um well this is this is my theory on that um i'ma say it's their fault artistically um but i'ma say this the era in which they came up in was so good it was the golden age the golden era the greatest music still think about it we still taking fashion cues from then absolutely you know what i'm saying we so when everything that came after them versus embracing it i feel like they were more like yeah but it ain't like what we did right you know what i'm saying it ain't like how we was rocking and i feel like that you know when you have that that mentality and that energy you um it sort of ages you out and it and it stifles it stifles the progression of what you could be doing right you know what i'm saying i think and in all honesty i think that um i want to say that from from before that era or from that era i want to say hov is probably the only one who did more reaching out or or or yo i'm a rock with whether it was you know internally with the young philly dudes on rock versus doing the features with whoever you you know you talk about maintaining that level of legends legendaryness legends tapping into that younger yeah well competing with it right competing with it listen that's very hard because because when they're calling you a legend yeah or they call your og they're also calling you oh for sure and what's wrong with that what's wrong with that no no no no but there's nothing wrong with that by the way right but the youth looks at that as a crutch that doesn't look at that as as as a shield they don't look at that as a a sword they look at it as a a handicap almost like like if if you um look at the the interview like with uh according to where she's dropping her she can't understand why charlemagne keeps bringing up pusha t right she's like well how old is he is he like 900 no like no he's 40 and 40 is like and the props and everybody but what i'm trying to say is seems so old to us yeah and now that we're at 40 it's like oh we're still young but they don't get that right and i think i think that you know i think that the the the the way that my fan base has has grown i feel like i got day one fans and i also pick up new ones but i feel like that comes from that comes from outside of music too that comes from like the fashion aspect or the just or just even sonically like you know what i'm saying it's you know i like the cool kids the cool kids still love to decipher the lyrics and and and they want to be put on to like oh what's that brandy talking about because they want to go outside and be like oh i got this you ain't got this joint on this so as long as you're still playing those games it sort of helps i won't lie to you yeah i listened to the little uzi burke song yeah and i did not know i was a little uzi vert fan i did not know that yeah because i went and i took that i went on and i wanted to to to see all these other songs that little uzi word is on right and it was so many songs that i was familiar i just didn't identify that that was little uzi uzi special uzi special because what people don't know is uzi uzi's philly he's a rapper like you know what i'm saying he didn't just unlocked his creativity right right on some like [ __ ] and gas stations you know what i'm saying like don't play you know what i'm saying like it's like they had a diamond on your sword it's just be clear yeah yeah yeah give him his space give him his space he deserves it but um you know and and you know so he still he what a lot of people don't know is he really has the skill set right and when you hear the verse and you'll be like oh no he got a real skill set when you listen to neon guts with him and pharrell it's like oh oh hell nah he he really rap he doing what he want to do right now how how um yeah that's bigger that's not sure look over there but how crazy how many gray hairs did you get trying to get kanye and pharrell in the studio at the same time oh i didn't even no no it was not that easy not even once yeah not even once i um you know i really so how i started the whole process of even making the album was like i had like a i had a record i had one record from from yay and that was hear me clearly right yeah yeah so i i took i it was one verse so um i took hear me clearly down in miami i came down here and um i was like yeah man i'm ready to start i said me and yay cooked up something the other day and it just it got me going right and he was like let me hear it before i was like let me hear it so i played it and he was like huh he shrugged on me yeah you ain't struck don't you no no no no no no no no hear me and he was like you know like i i i go like i love cocky pharrell yeah no listen listen nobody knows [Applause] he like yo he like um i mean it's all right but i mean you like you i mean you won't be in a mixtape you want to make a mixtape how many mixtapes you want to make [Applause] you know at the time so i'm like damn like you know and mine we just talking he like man like you know for you to go to the next level you gotta become a character out here like bro how many hot 16s bro i'm tired of the hot 16. and bro it's i'm talking out it's punching me every every word he's saying is punching me punching me right and i'm gonna open the phone up to you no no this is my face library okay i'm like and i'm you know i'm just thinking i'm sitting i'm thinking i'm thinking back i'm like man i used to like you know you got on like i used to get in your used gs we used to ride in norfolk state go pick up these same mixtapes you talking about ride the whole day right you know we know the whole verse from norfolk to virginia beach and back like it's just like you know and i'm just thinking to myself like damn like is we not is we not where we at like you know and he was then i just got you know i just i just listened i just listened just let him keep going and i realized man like he's just at this place where that man tries to knock everything out the park everything right i don't care what it is all right and um and i don't even think we made music that's that's how the conversation was so ill to me i don't think we made music that day i think we just talked it out and and i had to like just process it and like you know and you know we might have had just had the rest of the day kicked it whatever the case may be but i don't i don't think we did nothing that day nothing with the intentions on coming in to like yo let's get busy and um you know i had um it was it was it was during the pandemic or whatever so usually every morning every morning me and him will talk six in the morning you know six he's definitely an early guy i'm an early guy yeah you were early too early so um being i was i was staying at his crib during this time we would just get up we just get up at six so i'm like man you know we both up we both fresh he's like man let's come in when we fresh and let's just um you know let's let's let's just start working and so then that's when the actual process started like a day later and we'd just be in the studio working get up early cause you've been working together since you since y'all was in virginia broke nothing so not rapping right not rapping i was we've been working together since we were hanging out i wasn't even rapping he came to me one day on some like he came to me like yo your brother is gene he the rapping this dude i know are you kidding me that i'm like off real like i was like nah you can't work with him he worked with tim you can't you can't you're like i'm just showing it like obviously we talking about malice right yeah we talked about his name yeah yeah and he was you know he was at that time but timbaland and my brother they all went to junior high school together timlin was the dj for all of the everybody who rapped right and right he knew my brother from being down the beach and rapping amongst all of them guys and didn't know that that was my brother well pharrell yeah okay so um you know when he found out he was like oh man you know time goes on tim tim you know got his foot in the car uh his foot in the door first and went to jersey left va went to jersey joe to see all of that and that opened the door not teddy teddy came in he came down and um that opened the door for for my brother and chad to connect well before again well before i was rapping right so but wait but how much did that conversation you guys have set the foundation or momentum for when you started working on the music um it it it was it was totally the foundation it was everything it was like once he said that one thing i one thing i said about even working with him and yay during this process was i was going to listen like i was going to follow direction um i came into this game always knowing how much production the marriage between the lyrics and production made you know what i'm saying made the magic right i never thought i rap so good that you know i could just rap over anything all of my favorites got a very bad album somewhere because they think they can just rap over anything you know what i'm saying and i always peep that very true yeah you know and and and i was like okay i and i always understood that i always understood that and i and the biggest thing for me was to make this better than daytona like i was like man how can i make this daytona just in case okay but um yeah you know that my biggest thing was to make it better than daytona and um but i was like man i'm gonna i'm gonna have to like just listen to them and see like i i really wanted to be produced because i felt like that was one thing about daytona i just rapped right i just rapped over we was fast tracking it we was going i was i was going i stayed in there with yay so i could get the hardest beats right when everybody else would leave and whatever i was like nah or just so he wouldn't steal him for himself i stayed and i took him and i was like you know after that you know he was working on five albums at that particular time good music christmas everybody tiana gianna his own cuttings kiss he goes right which we'll never get another one we'll never get another one per per cuddy yeah so um so i was fast tracking it you know just writing boom boom and trying to get it done and i and i didn't feel like i was produced so i said you know what i know i know at least that's one bar i can check off daytona yes crazy so i was like man i know that's one bar i could check off if i just let them produce me while we got this time ain't nobody rushing it's the pandemic ain't nothing going on right so you know that was the first that was the first thing so i said man i'ma listen and um you know and pharrell pharrell made it very clear he was like listen man if we gonna do this we gonna we're gonna do flows we're gonna do cadences i'm gonna make sure this hooks is sticky i'll make sure the b chorus isn't sticky what's the joint where i kind of feel like you like resembling slick rick uh everything don't need to be addressed what was that done on purpose or um that's right yeah that that was the hardest record that was the hardest record so the record the record was written right i executed it boom boom like you know what i'm saying pharrell come in hear it and he's like man that [ __ ] ain't it he's like that's saying that you still rapping at me you and your b-boy you ain't embodying nothing you ain't that i'm like now mind you by the time i even tell them to come in and listen i it's because i'm married i'm happy i'm i'm good i'm married to what i've been done you were proud of me all right all right he come and tear the whole man you take a whole chalkboard off the wall no it's not it you ain't you ain't enough of a character you ain't enough of a character and by this time this is when we sort of started the exercise of like we would play the joker every day because just watching it he was like man you know he was talking about characters and that then he gets into he's like a joke over here in the bronx uh why can't phoenix yeah when he went to bronx yeah okay so we like yo we like um he's like man you know uh you need to um you need to be more in character man he was like man this is you look at you you you laugh just like them you you laugh and [ __ ] you ain't supposed to laugh at you you got you got dark tendencies about yourself you just you know you started critiquing me so i'm like alright you know whatever so um we just watching it every day watching every day and then he started making beats and then he would mute it and be like man this is the ill scene look at this ill scene like this sound like this this sounds supposed to go to this and you see homeboy running down the steps or doing whatever he's doing you know doing something [ __ ] so um you know with that being the case he was like man i don't want i don't want you rapping i want you to you know like really embody it like you know that's why that that's why that song sounds so i'm saying all the evil [ __ ] i would say but i'm talking matter-of-factly like buffalo shrimp from my heymas coke deals upstairs at the ramada the ocean from motels was popular and crack was cemented phenomenon elected presidential was on my own you know they're just like you know just talking like like you know and but he made me like bro that took forever i felt like i was a r b singer like because he made me like like yo nah you you still you you know i'm still like nah i don't know that's not it is that a hit to your ego like how much of your ego takes a hit when he's telling you man it's my brother i mean you know like my ego don't my ego don't even kick in with him as far as that goes it's the difference in what we appreciate because it's still at the end of the day a high 16 is like a top 10 record to me if a [ __ ] got one [ __ ] 24 million bars and i come across it i'm i'm floored right i'm gonna know it i'll memorize it right you know what i'm saying like that's something that like that's something that i can hear in the street and i can feel in the street and some you know [ __ ] gonna talk about it the barber shop and so on and so forth like all of that energy is what fuels me and it was just it was bothersome to know that that ain't really fuel him like it used to fuel him like it used to fuel us together that was my issue more so i i believe that's a beautiful thing i think we should make some money but one thing on the album that you said that i did disagree you said you thought your fans wishing your fans was more like j coles right and i think you said because and then lying after that like because the dope boys because dope boys gotta be the man like they know double entendre shorty low they know i'm the man i'm the man but i want to disagree with you the reason why why let me just tell you why i'm gonna tell you why go ahead let me tell you what i go through but okay because i don't think they actually when it comes to when a person says pusha and they say kendrick and they say jay and they say cole i don't think they they say pusha is is it but he's dope rap or cocaine raps and kendrick is i think that you're all in that lyrical yeah i don't think i don't think you're you're you're you're you're categorized as a cocaine dope rapper or just a cocaine don't rapper and kendrick is a backpack dope rapper and j cole is a a dread wearing don't rap i don't think it's categorized like that i think it's categorized as lyricism and then and in the cage of lyricism you and j core has the same [ __ ] fans and that may be true i mean we toured together right so we toured together and and that that that line came from just referencing something but jay said something like jay he literally he would you would be talking about and i kind of felt that that was what you was going with and uh okay see with me it was like when i was saying that i was just speaking to the fact that man you know i've been on tour with j cole and when i when i when i was out there and i would like i would go out there of course do my set watch his set um maybe even go to the after party or whatever they you know i'm saying his crew whatever the case may be but it was the energy around him was just like it was all it was all praise and like man they just happy to just felt like a college energy and just people were just happy to be around them um i forgot [ __ ] what year was that he on the phone okay um yeah yeah but um but but i was liking it to when i go out and like when i do the after parties and so on and so forth it's a it kind of gets a dangerous thing right and it's like you know you you you got those who love you on some like yo yo i'll rock with what you're doing then it's always the yeah you're not killing you know that get a little dicey and it get a little you know got to turn into this and it was just it was just tapping on another uh another instance of call my bluff because even that person can get it like i'm just like bro that's what my mindset was but that mindset is like that's a real thing for me and real in real time outside like you run across that energy with what it is that i do whereas what you're saying what j cole does it's like man it's like it's just a different it's it's it's cool it's relaxing and his fans are just like he'll be riding bikes through the city by himself bro you know what i'm saying he definitely lyrical was still like bob marley is like like i love my fans i'm not you know i'm not trying to uh you know talk down on them at all but i'm just saying there's a difference in because said watch what you say you attracted so yeah if that's yeah cocaine right that's constant a lot of the coke boys are gonna come to your joints listen down sergio tuccini the 88 car phones you don't say anything like that is that what happens to you yeah but that it's not that approach it's the you know you know you know but it's energy i've been out with you before like you know what you're saying well and i'm saying i think is is sonically like lyricism sonically it's all in the same way what you're saying is the content is attracting a different energy you're right like the specific content that you're addressing nah total 1 000 right you are right yeah um but um it's like i think they they repeat this question to you all the time you appreciate this question to jay-z all the time they repeat these questions in the hey the kiss all the time and it's like as much as you grown it's still that you know this is where i come from type of you know hustle rap right yeah it's it's the cocaine references and you know how is that throughout these years like is is there is this this question always going to come up or they understand that it's a reference ah man i don't mind the question because i don't mind i'm answering it right you know what i'm saying it's like i've been saying as of late i'm trying to be the martin scorsese of of street rap you know what i'm saying like i want out like y'all don't ask martin scorsese to make gone with the win you want him to make a gangster flick with guns mobsters killers and we all run to the movie every time we all doing whatever we're doing to see it talking about it and loving it for a lifetime yeah that's what happens yes so it's like you know for me i i look at myself like that you know what i'm saying and it's like man this is like bro this this is rap that i know i mean how i look at rap man rap started in the street it started in it started from poverty it's started from despair it started from just coming outside talking about your environment right bro like i don't understand why it's an issue i don't even understand why people talk about like you know what i'm saying what it what my content is right versus what somebody else content is it's like nah we want to like this is and and at this point i've been in this 20 years like i'm like man i'm here to entertain a certain sector of people i'm not going out to like i'm not reaching out trying to get new people and so on and so forth like and and i don't believe that it's just if you're a surface level listener it's all cocaine your service level and i don't think i write for surface level listeners right i write for people who be like overwhelm that back yeah that's what i want people to say yeah i'll be riding this [ __ ] a couple times so i mean let's talk about the album i want to break down song from songs let's do it at some point but before we get deep straight into the album yeah i want to ask something well i've heard you on the breakfast club answer this um i've also i believe uh i'm not sure if you did e bro i know you did ebro on them right yesterday okay i don't know if i've seen it yet okay but i've seen a couple of interviews where this jack harlow song yeah gets brought up yeah i'm gonna be honest push what's up cause you like you like the only donald's yeah like this man has no other losses anywhere this man is the michael elvis okay i don't even know if that's a person you made that one you know i made that right this man and he says revenge is it's not even a coachable yeah even though this verse could be old right revenge i gotta get him back for that whatever he's i'm you know i'm paraphrasing right right i heard it i did it on jack hollow [ __ ] he tried he dropped the body try to kill jack i did on his head and it sounded like he was trying to kill jack coming for you yeah what does pusha t say even though it's old it might be old listen no no listen i don't i mean bro like it's it's sound when i say old it sounded old like to me like just the flows the raps like it just wasn't it wasn't what it is that i think four years later after what i did that's not that wasn't like that that i mean like that didn't even phase me right but you don't think because of the even though like you said it sounds old but the content of it was like i ain't forgetting it i'm coming back i don't care i don't care what they forget like i don't care like bro like for real like i'm just i mean just being totally totally honest i don't give a [ __ ] and i think they know it right like they know it all parties know it yeah they know it right he know uh like uh i'm not playing with anybody i'm not cause you did not show up at the concert no yeah no we noticed he asked me to okay because because you know what because and it's not it was it was it's simply because like it's at this point none of it's a game to me like none of it and i'm like i'm i'm doing my best to just you know let bygones be bygones i'm chilling i'm good my i mean look like listen to me right listen to my album untouchable right you know what i'm saying but um you know man you know i look at all of that as um and all of that energy is still showing the effects of what it is that i've done real real for real that's ill like because because really i don't i don't even think about it i don't think there's no bars on this album yeah i was looking for that too i was looking forward my this my album was flawless right without it right that's was crazy anybody else would have jumped on it and get all that no not me cause i ain't really playing right like i'm really not right so everybody understands right that's it okay [Applause] so let me ask yeah has jay prince ever reached out to you like i spoke to jay prince numerous times man so so not about him okay hell no can anybody talk to me about him all right hell no because i also heard you say you don't want to wreck it with them i don't want to be in the i'm going to be honest i don't want it let's just not even i don't want to drink i want a bracket i don't i don't i don't want it i'm cool i'm cool without it you don't want no ad-libs nope none none no photo nah i'm cool god damn photo i'm cool about [ __ ] with him at this point i just wanna just shoot for him to say no oh you don't play hockey no canada none of it i'm cool like i ain't playing i'ma just go ahead and do what i do put y'all that piece i'm i'm at peace so if right now you're hosting saturday night live that was the wrong choice you're hosting i can't host that anymore i'm not allowed to do that that i'm gonna tell you i don't know how many lives you want this part of the club right they say there's one other artist walking in here they want the other side of the club right right next to there yeah they come you see who it is is fortunate leaving no but you're not i'm there you're not standing in your hands no i don't want to listen i want nothing i want why though if as a person who let's just let's just look at the face value yeah let's say everyone who actually said that you guys spawned right that you guys went at it everyone says you won right most of people who are lyrical content especially after his meek mill uh debacle most people say that you won so then why are you not willing to say you know what it was i felt attacked i uh so because things that i don't speak on and things that i won't speak on have happened since right that i'm i i just ain't going to speak on it but i ain't playing so for me it ain't even about you know i feel like if it was just a rap thing and it was what it was you know that was cool you think that they went too far when they mentioned your lady name or where was it the point where it was like this is it like oh no i you know i mean i don't i don't really talk about it but i'm just saying like you know i feel like you know there were um you know i i've been to canada before i can i'm banned from canada because i feel bad i'm banned from canada like i can't get back up i can't get back over there right really yeah i ain't allowed to go back over there that's why we gotta squash this beef we call i'm throwing you guys no no no no because what i think is where you where they think that you went too far i don't care well i don't care there is no too far i don't play like that so that's why you don't play with me right right right right that's why you don't play with me but there is no too far right it's not right forever is is there anything alone leave me leave me because there's no too far that's how it goes but that's the thing no no they won't play that's the thing it's just the problem you felt like you went too far who me i'd never go too far too far there's no too far uh absolutely all right promise you did you ever feel like i never felt nothing anybody who ever told me that i was that i went too far i never spoke to him again i like all [ __ ] loving war okay cause let's just revisit let's just revisit how everyone thinks this started was it started from the midst of me too i don't know i don't even know at this point no no for for real for me and this because that's what me from the outside i'm looking in this insider that's an outsider though for me when you go all the way back to all of that i remember just a very dark time for me just musically um not having you know being in a what you call it um like a label drama or whatever and um and i remember i mean when you go back to mr me too you talking about the wayne thing and all that that's what it was kind of felt like it was trickled down well yeah because i mean there was like some vibe issue where he was you know we was you know we had just i think we had just done um what's that called what happened to that boy or something what happened you know maybe a little bit later on yeah with birdman or later on up down the line people were telling wayne he was you know trying to talk dope like the clips or uh drugs and and and he wore bait like the clips i never said that right you know what i'm saying and i think it just at this particular time it was a rough time for us because we was going through label drama whatever remember that like the four year hiatus oh yeah and this is the job records um yeah okay and so then there was a uh there was a vibe article where he you know just spoke to that but he just spoke about us in a very uh little [ __ ] yeah like a down you know like down talking to us i'm like damn we already going through we going through and you know you're not even bright enough or smart enough at the you know at the time i i ain't got no problem winning i mean just so we clear i ain't you know it's whatever so wayne is that same artist in that club you're going you're going you you might not necessarily but um it's cool but it's no problem but i just you know you never know that's cool you just know how [ __ ] it is [ __ ] that but uh you know so that's what for me back then what it you know what started um i feel like everything else was just you know as of late it was a lot of like just the kanye drama next to it the painting [ __ ] at me would have been like what the [ __ ] you doing this concert for what's the name of the concert i don't remember yeah but like what the [ __ ] you doing this concert for we went to ball like the petty [ __ ] gave me yeah but you know at the same time you gotta i i reckon i know how to compartmentalize everything right that's that's my gift like that was like when i got together it was needed for hip-hop you think that there's really nothing i don't think no i don't even think they make good music together that's the wildest part like ain't even like a hot record name it glow what what glowing up when come on google this [ __ ] why you gotta google it like come on so it's not like for real for me just them doing what they did i felt like that was good for them because it was hard though listen i thought kanye looked amazing he you know what i'm saying like next level but what with that being said like you know i don't damn i forgot where i was at you said you thought kanye looked good but oh yeah i thought you know i think that was good for them like i think that's what you compartmentalize yeah like i you know and i don't you know i don't ever put no type of pressures nowhere i don't you know i'll stay out of the situation because they playing they're playing they play an industry game i think kanye said he he's on a professional level right and that's and that's cool and that's great and that's like you know i feel like that i feel like that's gonna work for for them and what it is that they do right boy you no i'm cool i'm just i'm just over here bro i've i've i know exactly what my lane is i know exactly what i'm doing i know exactly who i want to be with who i want to make records with i know what i'm not doing i know what damages my brand what doesn't and there's absolutely no value in that for me because immediately when we heard neck and bricks don't lie and then whole set i blew bird money like did they go again but what i'm saying ain't that smart but you gotta be yeah but you see what i'm just saying like that was that first thing on twitter yeah but that was just i knew that before yeah but i just knew they was not understanding oh i was into all the gossip actually went on it was like relax guys this has nothing to do with this i mean that's when i knew that's when i knew it was uh like it probably got too loud when i saw guru say something because i'm like i've seen it but i'm like whatever that's gonna blow over right but that wasn't real because it's kind of ill like just think about the people that you have beef with and you survive little wayne birdman and drake and you have no like scars from it [Laughter] but it's all off it's all love there's no with me i have no issues man and you're banned from canada i thought she was just saying that oh no no no i'm serious and this is this guy all right how did you know how did you know you was bad my my manager over here told me what what happened yeah yeah well i well i mean i'm not gonna get into that but okay donald trump yeah don't ask him do nothing so you say all right let's just be clear you said you went to uh what's some [ __ ] called customs and they said you gotta turn down it you're trying to tell me you gotta turn out the borders no i didn't get turned out at the border oh so i just you filled it out for your visa and they said [Music] what did you do in canada i didn't do nothing i i went to my show you know it was rowdy people at the show you performed that song i performed no i knew i didn't even get it and i got on i got on my way you know it was cool that's playing a different game you get a [ __ ] bad from the country this next level jesus so in the world we're never going to squash this hopefully in one world no i don't there's nothing for me to squash i've done it all it's done i'm done yeah i'm i'm finished i'm cool yeah that's not nothing for me to do that's a beautiful thing man congratulations positive energy guys let's bring the flowers um [Music] we don't know if you know our show was about giving people they flowers yes sir and we 1 million percent want to give you your flowers to your face how great you are how you standing man i've seen how you came and for you to still be at the level of relevancy for people to step for you to make an album the way you may and like i said because i'm your friend because i'm your i feel like a family member especially we all under snoop said well he said we're all under the dre tree and we're all under the neptune tree we'll show under the trap away leave or bark or even the [ __ ] root we're all part of the tree and i can't tell you how much i'm proud of you i can't tell you how much i'm proud of your brother every time i see you every time i've seen him for the last like couple of years i've been always drunk and he's always prayed over me it's been the weirdest wow that's right though i mean that's him boys like [Music] and i just want to tell y'all yo man first stand the test of time the way you have and the way you are still enjoying this game still being a bald lord and i can't even find a whack bar i've been looking like dean slip here he ain't stupid and you haven't and i just want to say that is abnormal that is not a normal thing so oh man crazy that is crazy before we go to quicktime and slime i just want to go through this playlist yeah oh let's do it you go to go get number one and you got it before me well brambleton okay yeah that's one yeah okay talk about that yeah sets off the album yeah let's go um well first you know brambleton um set off the album you know strategically i put that there because big started life after death with the story and i always felt like man you know i've never first of all never do many stories and then i was like man i actually got one and i i felt like it was strong enough to just just set the tone right you know what i'm saying um brambleton avenue is a place in um norfolk virginia um youth coming up my mom worked on it you know i'm saying you could you know i could go see her young you know young kid going to see her i could see sweet pea whitaker across the street in a project called young's park and you know just outside you know being great whatever the case may be um you know uh the song itself the song itself was just for me just describing a relationship you know describing the relationship i had in the street uh my former manager he was on vlad not too long ago oh is that the same person that you made the snitch record about that's uh and uh well you know sorry i'm trying to come on i feel like the snitch record i feel like the snitch record was like which is the deal is a um i'm trying to come on shout out shout out for real but it was just like a lot i feel like the snitch acronym i mean the snitch record itself was just like a lot of just instances and [ __ ] that was going on right this record particularly right here was like yo like after seeing after seeing the interview i was like damn like that's you know you described you described us he was on tv talking about what because he was on vlad tv and he spoke about how like he said um i believe one of the quotes was 95 of everything was about him like my you know the raps were about him and um uh like when it came to street [ __ ] yeah and um what else was it it was it was just a couple different things that i was like damn man like you know i never i never would see somebody that i've been you know so you know down with or whatever entrenched in like all type of [ __ ] never down talk or try to downplay me right like i never i i would not like wherever we stand right now i would never do it i've never done it you know what i'm saying and um i just didn't you know so i took the time to like i was just you know i was telling pharrell about the whole situation or whatever and he was like man that's the song right there he's like that's the song and you know i was like you know i just wanted to give like a real context to what my view of our relationship and what it was then um you know i'm not your ex-manager yeah okay cool just what our relationship was what it was in the street and um and i i wanted to make that record because i feel like it was a it was it speaks to loyalty like it speaks to loyalty and being loyal and and and understanding the idea of team like back then and and and and you know just when all the street [ __ ] was going on man i always looked at it as a team all of us was a team now you may have this much i could have this much they could had this much but all of it and everybody was working to for the betterment of everybody and everybody had a role that was the thing never looked at you know never been envious never that's just my whole [ __ ] i ain't never been envious of nobody musically none of that that's just not me right um i always know how important my role is to whatever situation it is like you know even being a good music i don't sell the most records i ain't never been you know i don't sell the most record more than anybody else who've been over there whatever always still you know i'm me like i know what i bring to the table um and you know i just that song was just for for the guys who honestly are in these positions and are in these roles and are doing anything and you think that you you know you think that y'all you know you you're focused and you're determined on what it is that you doing you getting your money your man getting his money blasey blasey blah and you thinking it's teamwork and and and they mine they call it you know you working for them and you know ultimately as soon as the roles change or whatever the case may be you see who gets to you you see people true colors unfortunately yeah man every song huh heavy song i didn't know that yeah man listen to that i just i ain't gonna lie over my head not now because again i wasn't listening to her for that yeah i was listening to it that's deep yeah i was just listening to a totally different i'm just looking at the art and i'm like there's no way this guy can still be this good like like i'm sorry i was doubting you but because i wasn't down you like to doubt you but i was like there's no way because it's just a level of success norway but you know we we are the era that is going to be able to take we're we are the era that is going to be able to see if hip-hop can be progressive as it ages right like you know what i'm saying like this is the time where it figures itself out actually like go the real distance yeah go the real distance you know get on our youtube right uh rolling stones whatever i think like the 444 album kind of helped that because i don't know yeah but but even still that was the whole is one that's one component he's he's before our era right he's won before us right right yeah so you need to like and i'm talking about for the genre to look like it can do what to do he's just special and right he he caught on early but we are the class that is going to be myself yay you know everybody you know everybody within this time frame is gonna be the one to show how far this [ __ ] can go for real i agree so so um so it's not i don't think it's that crazy like you know being you know still competing like because we we're still competitive like you said we still young yeah we are like and with that comes the the spirit of competition and creativity has no age limit right right for sure and however you tap into it if it's being competitive yeah some people do it differently you know yeah just to tap into that creativity nah for sure all right all right so saw number two let the smokers shine the coops let the smoker shine the coops man that was that was me asking pharrell to give me his best best uh glaciers of ice type beat he could he could ever make um you know that was that was uh that actually that that record actually came from hit factory again at six in the morning but he was a hit factory because you know at miami yeah miami hit factory and we were like um you know we had been working out the house for a while and i felt like he just wanted a different change of scenery like you know sort of exhausted the energy there and we started going to hit factory early don't baby in them working at head factory too i ain't seen nobody yeah but um you know but um just you know just just working um again and it was it was you know it was a um it was a thing of me you know being being an actual being an actual student um with the flow you know what i'm saying him like nah you can't you know writing writing writing and like ah nah i ain't know where's the cadence at where's the bounce you know what i'm saying and then that's him telling you that yeah like you know it might be an initial initial four bars he was like yeah but ain't no bounce there it ain't sticky to the ain't sticky to the track is it just y'all two in the studio today yeah probably yeah this day this particular day i don't know if chad made it yet right i don't know what yeah maybe yeah shout out to chad i don't know if he gets enough credit for it yeah he he did he did i think he did a little co-producing on some stuff too as well so okay um dreaming dreaming oh dreaming of the past feature the past um man i actually stole that one because um let's talk about the death yeah cause because you know a lot of times me and yael work on albums simultaneously so he got a folder i got a folder you know he will he he pick all the beats and be like okay that's your folder this is my folder and from other producers um some of his and yeah and just you know just a hard drive that he has of just joints and he'll he'll he'll pick stuff that he thinks is a good enough skeleton for me to rhyme to he he accidentally i think played hit that beat and i was like oh that's crazy like let me let me get that and he's like nah i love it you know it's mine this isn't that and i kept asking for it so ultimately he um i noticed he still hadn't wrote the song yet right and i was like damn man you're gonna write the song let me get the song and um he finally let me get it and i was just like listen why don't you why don't you just put like you know eight bars on the end of it or you know what i'm saying like that way i could lock in the song right if he knew he was on it then then i could get it so uh that's that's what we did all right and then it became yes yeah right yeah for sure i first recorded it with the detention hit going on is that no no no didn't even know i like once once i got it once i got it and put the verses on it he uh he heard it was like man i can't be on that and i was like nah you can like what's up just get yours off and i and i gave him the comparison of uh a big big coming in for like three bars on lil kim queen [ __ ] and i was like i was like bro everything you do don't got to be heavy lifting you already produced the beat why you got to have 16 24 balls back it ain't all that like you know and i feel like that's why the record wasn't written in the first place it was you know it was heavy you know you got to go in on that joint he probably was taking his time whatever i'm like bro give it to me get yours off you can get yours off in all right four bars right now before we go because i'm going to go right back into the album but before we we we get into that who was you at when you seen yay say big sean was the worst thing he's ever anything man he threw the side down where was he i think i was at the crib yeah i think all of the crib right um yeah i mean that's the answer but i mean you know you know i feel like um they'd be having they'd be having a little they their issues bro like you know you know listen man you can have issues with yay man yeah people people you know yeah he's a different different back and forth you know what i'm saying so um they was having their issues and i guess he felt you know the need to get it off and we don't see him that often right you know doing like you right yeah you got you got the interview yeah yeah yeah yeah you know um and i feel like um you know he probably was just getting whatever whatever he felt off his chest were they they they they be having a little back and forth as well and did it was was it a call did you got for big sean after that uh direct or no um then you got to see him back on drink big sean no no i didn't get no call i didn't i don't think i got a call um damn did i no i didn't i didn't i mean i didn't discuss it i wouldn't discuss it man like that's that's this [ __ ] man you know why i say that because other than your beef what you know over yo i feel like you're the most level uh minded i'm i'm for sure the most level minded like let's just be honest i'm for sure we're clearly the most with the other guys i am no i'm never going to build another record i said cuddy please just clear this song please cuddy i know i know i know you because cuddy you know cuddy's like cuddy's my brother like cuddy's like man he really gonna stand on what it is that he you know what i'm saying whatever whatever it is that he had an issue with he gonna stand on that right so man you don't even know like he was the last person cleared on the like you know what album saying like so you know you getting down to the wire and you're getting like well cause he was holding back damn right oh yeah right right damn right like you know i'm in the studio i'm in the studio doing like radio drops and he called me and i'm like bruh please i know i know but just you know why why did you know because the label i told you that it was cool yeah so i you know i heard i heard after a while like when i'm you know i'm just wondering like you know what's the you know what's the progress with the album as far as turning it in and hand it in because the music been done right so i'm like i'm trying to figure out what's the date going to be you know and i can't get these answers in nobody's saying nothing for a long time like everybody just being no you know we just getting it together and then it finally got to come out that it was cuddy and i was like damn so he ended up calling me and um you know just just telling me like you know um just telling me how he felt and telling me he was he's gonna clear it and you know it's never nothing about me and you know but he was like yo this this the last one with me he let it be known i heard you had hired a video director and everything i hired a video director i seen a video director the other night seen him the other night told me uh you know told me how they got had the treatment together meet me and jay picked this particular dude right you know and he happened to check though no no he was like you know and everything just blew up i was like yeah and i don't know if we ever gonna do it so you got to hear the information prior to it being public what's that oh that that yeah yeah cut his last name yeah so he actually called you yeah that respect yeah and then send the tweet out that like i never see the tweet go viral you know cutting fans is rabid like they are rabid as soon as he do something say something and go crazy i'm gonna tell you i'm gonna tell you uh uh i'm gonna tell you um something that cuddy did for me that a lot of people don't know i was like in this weird space right and um i think i was i was on on tour with a group called mastercraft you remember this yeah i remember you recorded that join us at our studio yeah that's mastercraft and they were like a canadian like idiom man and they wanted me to do a record that did something so i was in this like weird world and i would just go and just did you like a little crazy year in my life right but i wasn't going to like hip-hop clubs and i wasn't definitely wasn't going to like real world hip-hop clubs and i think i forget how cuddy got in contact with me or how we even spoke and he said yo come to my show tonight and i was like right i was like for what like in my mind i said for what i didn't say for what to him but i was like how would i identify with your audience i'm this guy that's over here doing this different type of music at this point like where does this correlate and he brung me out and and then he had me do all these neptune records i don't know if he remembered that okay and he was like favela is god [ __ ] purgatory in hip hop purgatory whatever right that this hipster crowd that for real and kind of like made yeah this whole audience and i can still be who i am and and and cuddy was the first person to show me that yo brother you you're a god in this audience because we we we looked at that audience like weirdos we were bozos ourself we was like oh those guys you know they wear backpacks yeah and you know they do cocaine in the bathroom it's different it's different it's different you know you know but you did not realize hey man the audience is okay okay let's get to the next record neck and wrists don't lie now first off yes let's just be clear you're using drug dealers anonymous yeah you're using this yeah so this is favorite dose yeah it's my favorite ornament right now this is favorite number two yeah [ __ ] don't get no favors from the god i know man it's the soon as i lay the verse okay as soon as i lay the verse the hook is there i was like listen formatted so he has a space matter of fact no it was like the bridge everything all right and i was like just leave them open space all right and um man i just emailed it to him see me personally the the name of the record would have scared me to send it to him now because you know neck and wrist don't lie [Laughter] i've went had drinks with him one time and he had on just a light 3.5 oh million dollars not a stone in sight it was it was i believe it was a panic um uh factory though yeah because they called it the pablo escobar some [ __ ] like this i didn't even want to accidentally listen now i'm trying to say about 0.5 million this was off day that was the that was the um that's the only reason i call him though honestly i mean about music when it comes to music when it comes to music um because i wrote a second verse for it right it just didn't hit like i wanted it to hit right so um and i only reach like i said i only reach out to him musically right when i feel like the song needs an uptick like take it to the next level yes and we're at jupiter yes let's go to mars yeah for sure and i mean nick and rich don't lie i knew i know that he's gonna say 12 things that i can't say you know what i'm saying like i could there's other artists who could have been on it was disrespectful but they're not going they're not going to say too much he said this mansions on a wall stop yeah yeah that's that's just no we got different sob stores like i was done i'm done like i needed all i was done yeah but um yeah so i just reach out to him i reach out to him you know when i feel about aces spade for you just in case you know to celebrate your album if you're in case you know what i mean yeah yeah you know um yeah you know i i reach out when i when i feel like he can add something to add something to the song that i just can't do and and it was dope because you got the guys got the premiere on i yeah every hour on the hour yeah yeah so if a person didn't like y'all they got they got to not like you more yeah because every hour on i mean explain that to our artists uh we go get right back into the album but is that like a plus when you could be able to just go straight out of the gate and get it on on the radio because of you know um who you are and the person you have on it yeah i mean you know i think that um i think that uh you know when when you can when you can get a record on radio and and people and it gets that head start that jump start right um you usually do that in trying to make sure that that record is going to go like really you know try to chart so on and so forth and you still feel that radio has that impact today yeah i think so i think so i think i think um i think radio is is very important um i think for what it is that we do man we need to check off every box right we gonna document what i'm saying yeah pick up my man yeah no for sure like um we need to check off every box and um that was that was something that like just out of respect of who it was on the song i'm like i'm really fighting like nah at the end of the day i want people to need to get this song it needs that look i mean the the profile of the of the artist on it the feature is you know him and pharrell is is too high for it not to get that look i don't necessarily make radio records right what i'm saying but but then the video is going to be like a headache we're not going to do a video you know what's crazy no we're doing the video you know what's crazy which people would appreciate mm-hmm if you also do a video where y'all not even in there oh no we we we we'll do something like that but i'm saying i'm you know for people thinking we're going to shoot a vid like hov's coming to sit on a set right video yeah it's not happening yeah it's not happening yeah i don't think so which i mean listen me i would have shot it in this house you know just so he didn't have to perform bro but nah but uh you know end of the day man i think that i think that record had the impact and it and it talked to our core right my core and his core right i think they're the same yeah yeah so let's move on to the next record just so you remember yeah just so you remember who you dealing with that's uh that's the rap moment on the album to me like the the the heavy rap moment uh stripped down beat and um you know it's one of my favorite records but it it stayed in more of that mixtape lane you know um just barring out barring out i don't even know how how many how many lines it is but it's it's a lot okay now let's go to the next record diet coke diet coke now here's the question i asked about this what's that did y'all call joey crack and before this no no we just sampled him he got to hear it with us like um oh like damn you know what somebody might have told him okay maybe or oh right yeah dropped as a single so you got to clear it right right so yeah so probably in the clearance process he he knew but yeah but yeah the the record was done and he was like nah you got to put joe crack fat joe on the front of that though yesterday's price yeah yeah he was like i start like that that's that to me is is jay's biggest uh you know his um yeah his that's where his genius comes from his instincts right like it's fast he's like you know what i'm saying like when when whenever he's in the moment and it's musically and his instincts kick in right you are definitely going to get a gem out of like what it is that that he's trying to make or create was it also him who said black and white video and he gonna dance like puff daddy that's the whole the whole thing he saw the whole he saw that yeah that [ __ ] was crazy flavor in your hair listen listen change my outfit i have on the leather he wanted me to have on the leather i had on like some type of veg nah you need the leather the craig mac big pocket you know you got to have it but uh but yeah like he um he saw the whole vision for that and once the record was done the video was shot the next day so he was like nah y'all get in y'all go shoot the finest space go do it and i don't know eight nine hours on set this is def jam budget yeah i like your face [Laughter] she got real just now hell yeah okay hold on where are we at come on oh you want to ask this one rock and roll rock and roll i heard it was a perfect day perfect day everybody was there smoked up i just do that out there i don't know that papa hurry everyone was cuddy just arrived in the studio yeah j is already this is already down this is a perfect day perfect record yeah um you know um just a really good day um yay yay just was like he got on the mpc and started chopping the beyonce one plus one sample and um you know like you said cudi came through um the only thing he couldn't find like books right yeah but the only thing yay couldn't find that day um was the drums and so you know it takes me a second just to write anyway so um you know by the time he was like yo send this to pharrell let him put his drums on it so that's the only record that he worked on collaboration yeah that's the only record and it was because of that because he couldn't figure out the drums yeah i mean he just he just didn't have like i remember just going through drums and none of it was hidden to his liking none of it was hit into his liking and he was like yo send us send this to p like tell him put his drums on it because had he not figure had he figured out the drums it might not have been a collaborative record right right right right yeah it wasn't you know it wasn't supposed to be like he's true he'd be in the moment right lack of a better term for back then it was supposed to be like a side b side right was it that's like supposed to be for sure okay for sure oh that's good for this this next record i feel like and let's be clear so we're not getting the kid cuddy in kanye video and if we do get it it's gonna be in separate rooms because that could still i would i would like foreign listen it was performing really well so i think we should i mean i talked to i talked to cuddy yesterday and just was like telling them how how crazy this song is doing right he's like nah you know i know i love that record this isn't that so i mean homeless master too this time yeah yeah yeah yeah i think i think i think cuddy should do it they don't have to be in the same room we've done we've done things we don't got to be yeah um cool let's go to the next one for some reason i feel like this is one of your top three of the album caught my bluff yeah call my bluff just call my bluff for sure is top three for me um simply because it was it was work it was real work and i again it was like you know again me taking direction and like you know really hopping in the character and really just trying to execute uh execute what it is that p wanted me to you know what he feels is going to level me up musically um man i you know the the whole idea of the record um came from i thought i was gonna have an issue with somebody right and i was telling i was telling pharrell about it and my man he called me was like oh you know you know i heard it's about you know it might be something blase blah blah blah he was like well you know his girl will be trying to [ __ ] me all the time and he was like he was like yeah she'd be in my dance with a room like he was like yeah all the time he said so i'm a [ __ ] he's i'm a taper he said we gonna have fun with it we can have fun like we're gonna have fun with this whole [ __ ] because it's gonna kill him right right and then he was like and you know and and if you go crazy but if you get crazy or whatever he he he sent me two addresses he was like you know it can go wherever i thought about it i'm thinking to myself like i'm not even on it like like i'm not i ain't even tripping like that but i knew myself like yo if i even entertain this i was excited about it at first and then i was like if i entertain it it's a fault that i can't really turn off because he's not gonna play at all so um needless to say i told i was telling p about it and that's where the the nonchalant i can get it done i can't i can have it happen joker energy nonchalant you know what i'm saying it's my way if i really want it to be my way right um attitude comes from in the joint i wouldn't have thought that yeah i mean that's just the real backstory all right so scrap it off scrape it off the table scrape it off the top i just i mean the record was the track was so it was was fun that's that's your radio record to me you think so to me to me that's the i want to see you when [ __ ] anguilla oh okay eating mangoes okay on the yellow chair you know what's in the hammock hammock yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah you know what i'm saying yeah yeah yeah i think that i think i think that that's it that's my opinion i mean you know i just think it's fire i mean listen it's performing crazy what i'm saying wow um i feel like uh i feel like uzi is the king of the youth for real yeah i feel like don toliver is um when it comes to the melodies i can't go on my explore page and ain't a girl putting on makeup to don toliver's music wow fire you know what i'm saying he just he he's talking at that frequency that people rocking with girls are rocking with so you you you could be right i'm just you know i gotta you gotta see how these joints you know how it turns out oh hear me clearly yeah hear me clearly man you know what's crazy how this is this is real talk i don't think anybody here knows this i probably started working with pharrell 97 had to be because it dropped in 98 and remember back then we had to record a year in advance right as much as i've ever been around for a while as much as uh it gave me one of the first pair of vapes and i wore it and everyone laughed at me because they said those look like fake cocktails right me too never one time and it's all of these years has nego ever said hi to me wow i swear to god we've been in the same room we've been i've never once he's never like said hi and i i might be just as guilty yeah like i'll you know i might be just as guilty because i've never probably never said hi back because i never felt like i never felt like his energy permitted me to say hi so all these years ever i've never said me and ego have never spoke i don't even know if you speak english that's how it is i've never seen him speak yeah um i i don't know i mean you know i can't even really speak to that but i you know i know that just with him it's it's a respect thing and like just you know respecting people's space and just it's just what they what they do over there anyway so um i mean he's familiar like we met him we met him because of the music yeah i heard that i met him because of the jury right because no because well he was a fan of the music and then found out that p was getting his jewelry done from right from jacob so he would come and get everything he got in three colors with all the best diamonds right every time wow and that's you know that's who really made that connection right as far as nego goes all right so let's get to that record yeah break down that record oh man hear me clearly um um one of the first records that i did and um you know the the the the beat just had a real um it just spoke to me and it spoke to the hot 16 in me you know and um you know just recently my biggest regret from this album is nas not being on this record because i um i did that that the one verse that i had on it i sent it to nas ages ago oh ages ago as soon as i got i was like now i want knives on this because i felt like um i know i just felt like you would have killed it right right so um it got quiet i didn't hear from him for a long time or whatever but i gave it to him so long ago that i felt like you know i you know i gave him time right so um i ran into him at coat man the korean steakhouse uh what is it quaint c-o-t-e yeah yeah koi koi yeah [Applause] all right so um so man ran into a man she was like yo what's up blase or blah blah in new york okay in new york man he owned them both yeah he um man he he he brought out thousands of dollars worth of wagyu and and and sent it over to the table came over we just talked about i was like man you know i still want you on this record i said man i want you to be i said i'm gonna put this record out because by this time paris fashion week it happened they got the snippet they got all the hits or whatever and i was like but i want you to still be the last verse because that'll be the surprise on my album like you know cause i'm putting the song on my album for sure so um so um yeah it just didn't happen man it did not happen man biggest regret biggest regret at the album wow okay moving on open air yeah um open air i feel like open air was an answer to one of those records and um it was either answer to dreaming of the past or the answer to um to hear me clearly that was pharrell trying to get in his dark bag and um just you know just trying to really just like man you couldn't have all the hard records right right he got a show he could do it too but okay now the last one the best one you know what it's crazy um when i first listened to it i didn't look at the uh features on purpose okay so i wanted to just appreciate the music okay but about what i did want to do was to listen to it in order that you made okay sometimes they shuffle so that what i kept doing was after i was playing it i went back to the original playlist to make sure right that it was right it was correct and you and your brother sound so good together yeah i couldn't no i couldn't really see where you started when he finished that oh wow so i'm sat back i was like oh [ __ ] like i said i didn't look at the like i didn't know he was on there yeah and it just reminded me like oh [ __ ] the young version of the clips i remember you know i remember the grinding video me me driving out there and me going to y'all hood and seeing like wow virginia's really [ __ ] the hood like like and it just but how hard i know you got the little brother card i've been watching you in the interviews but but still this album doesn't really represent what he represents what i mean by that is you know he's a man of god he's a man right like this wasn't like a mace move not taking an uh uh uh a shot at mace but like this was like he really dug in like follow him on instagram he has people that he preaches to this is a real full-fledged thing so how do you convince him like i said i know you got the little brother card but other than that because it's like i know you're going to say well well you know well you got this other content on here is that so how do you convince him to do that um you know it wasn't it wasn't really convincing i think my i think my brother is really he's really self-aware like he knows my brother knows he's like the realest right he knows he's the realest so he can put him in any uh any situation right and he's just gonna be him do him he don't you know he doesn't necessarily think that because he's on a record that has whatever type of content that you know if you let him tell her he's getting his message across and he's gonna take away from his yeah right man you know it and it's competitive for him too he like man i'm i'm still dope i'm dope and i can be dope saying this and i can be better than you saying it like you know that's it so um you know that that that record um i think that record let everybody know that the possibility of doing eclipse record would make a lot of people happy and and you know just just i don't know i i think that like i mean it would just be up to him it's just up to him like it ain't it ain't even me so there's no no more conversations from that record oh that's what you know listen to making it a reality funny funny thing is he hit me the other day like oh i see what they saying he hit me hear me the other day he's like i see what they saying and he was like yo i want you to change on the credits make sure it says malice not no malice wow yeah because i did it i did it does say no malice it does yeah no no that's right malice it says malice wait hold on this is malice yeah what is this right there see i pray no malice but what is this though like that that was that no oh yeah no no no no no yes it's not on the actual look if you want to say a message no no but i'm on another i'm gonna listen to this [Applause] though if you guys pulled off an album together you could that duality can exist it would be so crazy if it would work together too long this is yeah i remember i remember a dude from my hoodie passed away so i don't want to um but um he was he told me he was like yo i want to get on right he was like so i want to i want to diss you and i was like kiss me he was like no because you're the biggest artist so if i diss you i'll get attention so i said all right too you know what we're gonna do let's let's let's do it on the same record you diss me but i'm gonna i'm gonna be able to give i'm sorry i really rap and it made me think about that because it was too opposite opinions and i was like yeah but he never got to do it he passed away but i i think of that when i think of you and your brother like you're not changing nothing nothing and he'll not change your name and it'd be the opposite of opinion but it's it's where you guys you know uh uh correlate and when you guys go down the same uh train you know even in my solo in my solo career i still know the difference i still know what i'm missing like that's the one thing i have not been able to really pinpoint for like you know to to to to sort of give to the fans no like the fact of me being solo and not being able to really channel and tap in i know what the fan is missing when they just hear me and don't hear him right you know what i'm saying i really really do and um you know it's something it's something i used to you know i really used to try really hard to do right but um still to this day um i still don't i don't hit the vein i don't hit the vein properly when it come to that and he was rapping before you oh my brother five years older than me right right yeah he's right been rapping been everything do we have a church no we we need we need to we need to hip hop need to build oh a church yeah malice church listen he kill it yes we need because um like there's certain people who i want to pray over me uh it'd be like rev run dmx mm-hmm and your brother yeah like you know what i'm saying pray for me like i was a dick because i believe in him like you know what i'm saying i believe actually i wanted to do a song with my brother oh no never been crazy yeah that'd have been crazy um you had a relationship with x correct yeah okay yeah that was a that was that was a big hole so we're gonna move on right now yes sir by the way congratulations once again to you for the album congratulations for making a a a masterpiece i'm gonna go ahead and say it's a classic yeah thank you thank you i'm not gonna wait for the two you know how everyone else it's it's definitely a classic and i'm i'm very glad that you didn't let kanye slack you didn't let pharrell slack because these are both very rich people before we move on to quick time with slime yeah i'm gonna piss while you do that guys okay yeah all right this is a watch question you probably don't even care who got the best watch game in the game pharrell pharrell pharrell okay i'm talking about everybody i i mean man it might be oh got the most expensive watches you have more suspension for sure right right okay but um don't know man i mean p is he's strong p is correct let me just tell you something he was wearing richard millie's when i thought i was watching a long time ago that's what i'm getting what i'm getting about you talking about first we talk about first you gotta really uh and then a lot that he ain't fur status yeah yeah so yeah it's it's i mean um disrespectful who is that mark wahlberg yeah yeah yeah his wife's killing that yeah he's disgusting [ __ ] too yeah but yeah though the pharrell got a 6 million dollar joint from the moon with the with the with the moon dust in it or something yeah i was going so you know i you know like we came up together you can't even say that with that watch you guys should be like i was gonna take that lord listen he got all the white i mean and you know he only doing the right yeah yeah yeah the one i see he got a new richard millie with the cuban link band from richard miller yeah yeah yeah excuse me he calls him richard yeah we're trying right here it's my name but uh so you're saying for real top one jay-z most expensive yeah i mean who yeah listen i ain't gonna lie jake albin i said his name correct this time yeah okay baby not here oh yeah you know he's having he's happy he's heavy too i'm just saying that like when i'm when i'm considering the you know the game i'm talking about like man when you i feel like pharrell put a lot of people on yes to things yes you know what i'm saying we talking about the watchers right now but even that i feel like he put people on um you know it'll be a back and forth i mean all bro look how far hip hop is coming everybody's a billionaire every day so it can be a new a new most uh expensive watch every day but i'm talking about you know when you look at who is like okay people following culturally like what he did whatever the case may be i feel like yeah like he's he's like one of those definitely one of them ones yeah him drake is outside too i don't know i don't follow him i just wanted to see your face expression i'm sorry that wasn't he's he's pretty ill too um yeah but you said pharrell in your book fro number one watch guy yeah okay we're gonna play a game right now it's called quick time with slime sure you familiar with it let's do it we're going to give you a it's a choice once or the other yeah if you um if you uh pick both you take a shot for it if you're not drinking we can have somebody come in and drink we got mr lee come in and drink for you if you're not drinking cause he's been on your album i can tell you i did cocaine deals together i'm just calling it out there dominicans getting cocaine everybody can know what god from virginia is definitely cocaine i just know i just never did but if you want you can do that oh you cause i heard you drink you drink daily or you drink the black man that's right you got someone drinking drinks you got someone drinking for you no i'm not having nobody drinking for me because i got one more day of ramadan i'm trying you know i'm trying i'm gonna i'm gonna make the one day the one day but we're celebrating you oh drink for me yes i'm sorry i don't like being too sober and [ __ ] it's like you don't like to put on a headband for this come on okay this one off top yes sir can we get them a cup this one on top get give sonny um now i'm gonna tell you off top i'm picking somebody every time so it don't matter so we're not so we're not drinking what you're saying somebody every time cypress hill i don't know if i'm i'm uh i should uh i'm gonna tell you one time you called me you was disappointed and you no no oh and for real hell i'm gonna tell you in fact it's six o'clock in the morning yup i remember where i was at and you you taught me something you taught you you didn't you didn't know this i don't know if you know this but you taught me something this is when we first came up with quicktime i want you to hear it huh i didn't want you to hear it right right now no no no no no no no no no no no i didn't want you to the quick time with slime i wished you didn't air it you know okay when you had to go back and forth okay all right so i remember you called and you said i'm in the middle of making this album and we almost damned in the middle of the war with this guy and he had to be politically correct because i believe the answer for quick thomas live was pusha or drake and pharrell said he drank for drake he drank four and it was like he's being politically correct it was the first time i ever like heard like you even like not mad but you were disappointed like we're in the middle ball this [ __ ] making my album he couldn't pick me i've never seen you emotionally listen yeah yeah and is that because because i there's a code in the streets right where you're my man i'm with you right or wrong mm-hmm but i also tell you when you're wrong oh yeah i do that why did you feel like not betrayed i don't want that's a wrong answer why didn't you think pharrell answered he didn't answer that question correct because there is no wrong when it comes to me and p right it's just you're right i don't care right and that's just what it is right like that's just what it is like even when you're wrong he could be the wrongest person in this room right now he's right right right now we're gonna go out there and i'll be like yo you're wrong with your [ __ ] but that's how it that's just going back to the team yeah like that's just what it is right but but i will say this though like you he's sitting in front of you you know what i'm saying and like and he got he you know he's sitting in front of you and you're the same right here it's us i'm saying like i'm thinking i expect farrell to be politically correct right until you gave me that point of view was like yo i'm in the middle of making the album now no right he's producing it i don't need that type of i wanted him to say you know me like what i'm saying and i didn't look at i i didn't look at every single you know you know on a chess board where the where the pawn moves a little yeah yeah and and no one really just picks it up that that that little move that the pawn makes matters too later on every move matters every move matters right yay every move matters p every move matters right right yes right okay yeah okay we're getting into quick time with slime and by the way just so you know your friend mr lee writes this to to to to to crash people off so he definitely probably did this correctly for you all right cool you ready this is either artist producer whichever way you shut out the puff and [ __ ] yeah yeah he ain't even letting me hear it cause he said we'll blow it up all right yes i am um um kanye or pharrell pharrell okay jadakiss or fabulous jada swiss beast or timberland swiss i'm not gonna ask y oh i mean you know i'm just you know swiss made money cash hoes i'm done money cash oh money cash primo p rock [ __ ] your shot no two chains a big show two chains had the best verse on mercy okay that's what well how's words go how's good first go how's work nobody remember yeah come on come on dude two chains have the best version on martial you remember a little bit let's go [Laughter] yeah i would man that's that's tough um both were game changers at that time yeah so bo i don't know man because i still see i s like right this very second i feel like you lean in rock him no no because right this very second i feel like i feel like krs still could sit in front of me and rhyme and scold me and everybody at this table right now you know what i'm saying um yeah like uh but rakim rakim definitely had more of an impact on me just culturally like i feel like i you know you never noticed rocky maybe even curse right that's crazy it's crazy i don't i'mma say both forget it okay okay but i ain't scared to say either one but i just can't think right now [Applause] pretty much they was in the same category too right i like if it wasn't like a business have you been approached to do versus no i don't think so right you know you something you interested in not really no not right now i'm still like i'm still competing right now in the right right now and i'm still like trying to like i don't even want to bro i'm working on the next album now like right this second the third and fourth for whatever days i'm supposed to be in the studio i i i actually canceled studio today so nah i'm like trying to we gonna see we're gonna see how far this really really go and um i ain't trying to reminisce about nothing yeah that's fire okay so you ain't yeah you're saying basically you're not you're not interested in verses right now no no even if the bag is hefty oh i mean the bag is stupid who am i here is something i like like it's something i like it's something i like to watch is something that i'm into so bag wise i wasn't even thinking i'm like i'm thinking you're just asking me on some in general you know you know it kind of it's kind of like um i don't know um you know obviously you know but um dj cassidy he has this thing called past pastor mike which which i love i actually she's been asking you to do it ask me to do it but he names it 90s rappers and it's like i don't want to be there bro i'm a 2022 hip-hop media [ __ ] mogul i don't want to be labeled a [ __ ] 90s rapper i mean nah it's just it you ain't doing it you just said me and you were saying the same dialect in a different way yeah in a different vernacular but because you don't like you don't want you you still perform grinding i do i will okay i still perform grinding i don't perform much else though okay you know i um i still perform grinding right cause i i went to a camera show and he didn't perform hosting carriage i was mad i was upset i wanted horse and carriage and three five seven oh yeah oh yeah you would i mean i would i wanted i wanted that oh i never told him that probably um okay boom you ready mm-hmm boys in the hood of mr society um boys in the hood okay now boys in the hood that's um dough ice cube that's right mm-hmm all right mr society is mm-hmm lorenz tape no acetate that's right okay asap rocky or travis scott asap rocky said that very fast sir like them both but rocky because a lot of people say that rocky's like the originator oh i don't even compare the two i just you know rocky's taste level is just a1 like super high i think travis makes dope records i think there's something um it's really classic about rocky right that i [ __ ] with yes we [ __ ] with rocky too yeah yeah okay you got the next one no i don't have it pulled up come on when you [ __ ] up then you tell me how [ __ ] do they see this [ __ ] on the internet so yeah so you know stop doing that hey i've learned uh uh sahada prince or rhymefest hmm they both been a part of history i'm gonna say both okay we respect that oh we gotta take the shot buddy yes yeah come on take the shot don't fall asleep here bro yeah they both been a part of history they both they both been done some very very incredible things and been a part of a lot of like legacy [ __ ] can't even front on either one okay ready yep big l or big pot big pun reason why or big pun big pun made twins it's crazy ain't nobody doing that in the middle of a little like how he refers to the specific track that he's thinking in his mind at that moment yes i love the fan version yeah it's just like a totally different thing to you okay pablo escobar or el chapo mr lee wants to know definitely miss delete he wouldn't put mr lee but pablo escobar pablo escobar because he was first nah it's not cause he was first but um i mean chopper might have gone further you know you know what cuz i get you know what it is i get uh i get i get family vibes out of pablo like i got to see you know when you hear about it when you when they talk about them you see like oh man he loved his kids and things like that you know what i'm saying you don't you don't i don't know that type of intel with uh with chapel yeah i don't know i heard basketball games horses cocaine and everything like that that's the information i mean what i'm saying is it's a real thing like i feel like norrie's published more fun facts people will hear about the uh you know then they'll think you know just like some type of tyrant but it was dope to to get some of that insight that like he was he was kind of like a family man and in that and that uh that picture the icon that's an iconic picture him and his child in front of the white house oh yeah that was like just straight tourists right there yeah bro how can you not who does this no who doesn't have that i got that picture with my pops too that same exact one was like [Laughter] [ __ ] okay uh missy or eve missy missy what's the only mr means listen miss you over everybody how about that right you think missy could beat buster rhymes in it and this versus missy missy untouchable buster isles though converse i'm going i'm going with missy i'm missing from virginia i'm right right is your only mr meena that's it i'm going with missy what's the rhyme the mighty influence and incred goat god level yes missy she gonna come up with raindrops listen let's play video for video what's up what's up pull it off you can't just do you know yeah yeah yeah i i love that i love that misty misty is a [ __ ] they got diddy or steven victor but they don't know you like i know you so i'm taking diddy out of there [Applause] i'm not man i'm not you know um man you know i love them both we going on vacation all of us together just recently i mean just you know coming up soon okay but man stephen victor man get to the back dog we going okay we going we lose a draw we gon listen down together the worst times to the best times that's what it is y'all billboard magazine with gloves on for sure and i mean you know and and and rob rob did manage me at one time right but you know uh pharrell at pharrell and chad that was there that was their stephen victor rob he managed all of us you know what i'm saying and it was and he was the one to them all right steven is the one to me so i'm going stephen okay but you know you know yes yes right let's go yeah drink to that goddamn drink today drink to my man and stephen victor that's fine steven victor was here he was here with sean sean king yeah yeah definitely i want to go to belize for no reason i swear to god i was going yo i was gonna book a flight to belize and antigua i don't know this is all subject but for no reason but i looked at my [ __ ] instagram and it was like belize popped up i was like i'm gonna just go i'm gonna figure out if shine is there later like you know what i'm saying i'm just gonna we gotta i don't know i just felt like just going like and then my friend hit me he's an antigua i was like you know what one of these days i'm gonna go for one day and just just go and just like fly in for six a.m and then fly back out so i'm gonna do some dumb [ __ ] like that i'm gonna tell you uh j cole or kendrick um j cole or kendrick i'm going with kendrick i'm going with kendrick well okay 90s versus 2000s 90s versus 2 000. hip-hop just give me 2 000. taking two thousands just tell me no no no what is 2 000 yeah you said all the 90s versus all right oh musically john like yeah so 90s you got crisscross oh [ __ ] cnn oh yeah you know it's 90. but clips don't we have clips in the 2000s i don't care we got clips in 2000 and we got trapa.gizi in the 2000s you know that's the [ __ ] grail wow some of the great but you got a reasonable doubt 96 i'm done it's 90s okay how about 80s versus 90s based on what you've been saying too [ __ ] mama d ruined my life prodigy did 90s the 90s cool get rich or die trying or port of miami get rich or die trying or port of miami yeah before they first both are rick ross and 50's get richer that's right okay biggie or jay-z take a shot [Music] no like [Music] you can't answer it man you can't answer it yeah just take a shot it's okay no but i don't like that i really don't i really don't you might think i'm a wholesaler oh it's cool it's just it's just like it's just like you the bar he said on you he said if big was alive yeah wouldn't be in this position if big was yeah that would have survived yeah y'all this one i don't know where you can go with this what is that because i don't know if you have ever i know you met one of them i don't know if you met the other one tupac or dmx tupac or dmx right i'mma go with dmx bro right um you know i ain't i didn't see pock yeah i didn't get to meet pop i didn't you know what i'm saying i didn't see him i mean his of course music impactful so on and so forth but i went to the concert where they cried right like this yeah i went to roughrider and uh and uh cash money cash money and rough rider yeah yeah yeah and um yeah i was doing that talk what did you do um well you was on survival of the fittest what oh forget it uh i'm sorry you know you know that's something that just [ __ ] up with me because of music i don't i don't remember dates and [ __ ] good like nothing i remember but also also i must say that um you know x changed music and what was music like crazily to me like yes he did like i mean you know i love big everything going on bad boy boom boom and then he come with the dog collar no shirt all right blackened right you know what i'm saying it was like then he came and he dropped um he did two songs the two albums in nine months right um he started tell his heart uh hell is yeah yeah titles and then flushing my flesh yeah i'm slipping right yep yeah like bro yeah i mean just for me just the impact was something visible i had a record with cisco at the same time listen no and and um what's that the alia joint guilt yeah like it's too much no hype man and was acting yeah yeah yeah performer yeah now this next one i don't know where you're gonna go cuz i think this is definitely a double a for you major or independent because ah with you owning your masters right now you're a major independent right no no yeah but but um i don't have a problem with i don't have a problem with the label a label as a partner i don't get that check yeah like i ain't i'm not i'm not and especially if you don't got the arms to to facilitate everything you need to be as an independent you know and i'm speaking i'm speaking on this because i'm from a place where independence never happened right you know what i'm saying like i'm from virginia we never had the infrastructure to make some independent commonwealth right but we never just had the infrastructure to like but you've never experienced independence right so you wouldn't know really right yeah well no i mean you know what i'm saying i look tony draper was my manager right oh okay okay so yeah you know what i'm saying so i know yeah that's independent yes but some of the some of the perks of a major is like you said you you went out there got the hard work got a jay-z feature right probably eight probably wouldn't be able to get the video but you got this and the perks of being in a major you would have it played on 57 markets per hour just right there estimated at least 57 million people who've heard neck and wrists right because of the perks of a major yeah um it's give and take remember it's ownership versus versus the machine and it's both there's no wrong or right yeah there's no there's no wrong or right hand i'm gonna tell you this um i don't know man yeah i don't know i don't know i mean so we taking a shot yeah okay now this is i'm not mad at either one though to be honest with you if you if you got the arms to be independent then it's it's go you should but if you don't it's whatever works for the individual as successful right on a major for for sure okay for sure cutting your comment kit cuddy conway or benny the butcher [ __ ] taking a shot all right cool i'm not taking them shot [Laughter] damn i'm gonna go with conway i'm gonna go with conway i don't know why they keep putting these two together but they did it with their albums but now we're gonna do it for them individually rick ross of fat joe um rick ross that's l teddy riley baby face teddy riley care what happened give a [ __ ] what happened it's tr yeah nah nah um yeah i'm gonna take a shot okay now we're gonna take a shot all right uh new jack city or original gangster new jack city easy a lot of people have been saying new jack city okay dc or l.a dc or la yeah dc dc or miami dc he's ripping the sea area or denver no no no listen you know you know actually where i'm from i'm three hours away from dc well now i got a house up there now and like close by right but um i just man i'm just very mid-atlantic east coast level that's where i'm the most comfortable with everything like you know i i haven't um i haven't taken a flight since i was living in maryland in in that area i haven't taken a flight to new york i i never took a flight and i would always get on the train and just uh you know take the train from dc to new york just to like see the different like just the different areas i was going through and and so on and so forth and it's like i really got to identify who i'm talking to that east coast level of sophistication you know what i'm saying that i know exactly where my raps is going at anybody else is cool but who who gravitates to it but i know exact that dc baltimore uh philly maryland you know you called it mid-atlantic yeah yeah i never heard it that way oh yeah yeah yeah i mean i don't get called a tri-state too right no you don't try this my state is when you get uh there us it's not dmv no yeah yeah dmv but dmv dmv has never uh dmv has never included uh where i'm from virginia beach 757 area code right that hampton it never we were our own thing right it's we our own we've been our own thing richmond beneon thing and then dmv was dc maryland and northern virginia oh okay all right so um let's be clear virginia is the east coast yes i mean we're in these people said it was in the south this is a big debate well no no it is technically it is it was the capital of the confederacy yeah yes no for sure but no but i don't think we should be clapping for the captain no you're just saying that's what he meant and that is technically the south but in a music sense in a music sense the dirty south never adopted virginia right and or dc or no no no yeah yeah adapted virginia well new york yeah the new york adopted virginia during the late 80s you don't think teddy riley turned into virginia i feel like he morphed into it yes that's what we're saying i don't think he every zuma zuma zoom in the room right thank you props wrestling effects [Applause] [Applause] [Music] that to me is like dwig almost in a sense you know like a summer record that it's never is forever i think teddy body came before dewitt no i'm just saying a classic summer record yeah yes it made me want to like i always wanted to have a video like that i never got one [Laughter] um podcast illmatic or ready to die illmatic or ready to die nomadic styles p or cameron styles p or camera styles p oh you said oh you was answering that song oh i didn't know that style p styles p might be in my top five to three dog just of like consistency hard lyricism um even gets a little conscious yeah but scary conscious you know i don't know scolding conscious like he's in my top he's like he's been and been there for a long long time rayquan or ghostface ray quan of course his hats because he is the purple tape purple tape change [ __ ] like yeah and now let me tell you something if the purple tape would have said ghostface featuring rayquaza cypress hills or onyx cypress hill you said cypress hills in plural cypress hill may stone his way this is mad hill nwa or wu-tang clan um butane clan mop mob deep over everybody mob deep over clips mob deep mob deep loyalty or respect loyalty why because young guy respect me you don't got to it's cool i respect you you ain't respect me but if you're loyal that mean you that close to me that means we're in a close you know in close dealings and i and i put that over everything like we should be everybody should be um loyalty should be on top of everybody's list who you who you deal with who you rock with um you always say that's probably the only trick question on here is because um i know and i get how people differentiate the two um but i feel like really loyalty and respect like it's just it's just like a hand-in-hand type of thing but uh not in this generation now mm-hmm but from where we we come from when i say where i come from i don't mean my hood i mean the the generation this generation i mean um damn that [ __ ] live res is is smacking the [ __ ] out of me right now we got some bigger boys god damn it louise that's it it's that [ __ ] that's hitting me crazy right now randy actor in the building with a blueberry jacket but but so moving forward in in this generation now i can see how they don't coexist but um back then if you had loyalty you had respect back then if you had respect you had loyalty i mean i i think i'm looking at it just in the sense of you know how i how i view the two words like i don't care if somebody respects me you know what i'm saying i don't you don't got to respect me you don't got to know me and i respect me it's whatever loyalty is something that is you know you get that opportunity to even experience loyalty by being close to somebody you know what i'm saying like you you if you're not close to somebody you don't even expect loyalty so you can only look at that word in one you know in a sense of being but wouldn't loyalty automatically bring respect with itself because the minute someone disengages from being loyal they disrespecting you at the same time that's why that's why it's tricky in that sense i guess i mean you mean true you know but i think you know i think you can separate both of them right because again i i can see this man right here i don't got to respect that man or nothing he don't gotta respect me you know what i'm saying loyalty ain't even an option we don't even know each other right right you know what i'm saying so when you start talking about loyalty you're really talking about you're already putting a relationship there when you when you mention loyalty not necessarily with respect because the enemy could respect you and not be loyal to you that's why i think is where it disengages you know like like someone from a distance in the streets could be like i'ma respect them and i'm gonna move accordingly to how i respect that they might move right but i'm not loyal to that person yeah it it's it's separate though man life was crazy man life is crazy life is crazy norway look at this yeah that's about to say man like not only do you think you still be here like what with the level of love that you receive you know what i'm saying like you have like like i go back to the the coil away interview because it was just um man coil array is a firecracker yeah that that's that's that's the whole guy but what it was was to see charlemagne like and have his like you know he he he's he's the top of his game yeah he's sitting there and it's like there's people like that that won't let what you do die at all yeah no for sure yeah no i you know um it's it's um i think that it's good to have champions like like charlemagne out there and um envy you can't yeah no of course yeah andy angela you everybody um but you know you gotta you gotta make it you gotta make it easy for them to champion youtube you gotta make that [ __ ] you got to be culturally relevant you got to be active and and actively competing and you know you know being able to put up your album one for one with any of them and i and i and i feel like that's something that i need to do more like i you know i've been on some i've been on some uh you know drop every two three years type [ __ ] this was even longer due to a pandemic or whatever but um i think i think just being more respectful to my fan and if i'm really trying to get my language out there and and show that i'm being competitive i'm gonna have to draw more frequently too what's the show i'm president of the deputy funji yeah how's it been working with tanji so far ill ill tangy dope like you know young energy um he know what you talking about and and tanja used to rap he gonna kill me for this really rap don't tell me you got an old record i don't i but i [ __ ] him up i told him right i told him i know you used to rap too so cuz i brought him in to listen to my album first and i was like before we even go here i know you're a rapper so that's why you're here huh well tell me he he yeah um african um what's the [ __ ] um what's that i'm not sure what the [ __ ] are you talking about i got this [ __ ] in my head no he raps like a rapper like you're like a person like reggae african no crap like bro like get ready [Music] that had a lot to do with um i was letting i was letting them hear the album but that was part of the rollout specifically that's why i asked you how long you got to live with the record right because we wanted i feel like man people don't even rate and critique records no more right so we had we had the record sent out to everybody earlier we experienced the leak actually the version i had didn't have drug dealers anonymous on it the one that i bought don't have drugs that does anonymous on it it's not on it yeah yeah i didn't do it but the one when you google it it is on there bro stop go i gotta [Music] on the playlist that you sent us uh they got it you blame it boys they got it actually under the album yeah come on nori we're pushing the t's new dixie track towards arby's you start arby's [ __ ] cause there's mcdonald's jerk you back in the day oh that [ __ ] is off the chain you know he um he brought me and my brother in on the i'm loving it campaign right we were talking about last drink yeah we talked about it right and from those raps came the catchphrase i'm loving it and you you did not know about residuals back then hell no that [ __ ] was the check was looking crazy enough for that bro i won't think about it and i'm thinking and [ __ ] okay you know a little too much by the same time it's let's get it cracking yeah we'll see our rv they said let's go to wall let's get double everything like that i doubt they said any of that that's how it happened i'm telling you like what happened what really happened was um i had been speaking and i've been telling people that that was like my um my biggest regret right you know people asked you and he's like damn what's your big biggest regret musically so that's um so i i told him about the mcdonald's thing right and i and then i proceeded to tell him that but after that though i see i've been in business with arby's for a minute because me and skrillex did a record together called burial and the we got the meets at the end of the arby's commercial with the last that [ __ ] is hard that's that i own 40 of that record what so yeah so we've been out here doing jingle jangles right okay so so and that's why you because you were speaking about it earlier it was like man i was doing this edm stuff and i was like bro that was the path yeah no no he was on point but i didn't get too far see he was on point and he wanted to jump off the path he was on point with that he jumped off the bus the edm the edm is very commercial friendly right and once um my manager really stephen was really like pushing that um barbies no just pushing just doing a lot of edm stuff like yo just do it like it's it's cool whatever it is it's commercial leaning and so to get me to do it he would always ask for a super crazy amount of the song right like like yo give me some ownership give me whatever publishing and it i ended up doing the skrillex one for 40 and it ended up getting picked up so they got the beats yeah so yeah i didn't say nothing who said no he just owns that he owns a piece of that record yeah piece of that right who got the meat is on yes okay exactly so um with that with that being the case um they reached out to me and was like man we we heard about what you said during the you know they mean uh uh harvey aubrey's gang yeah they're like yo we've been here i'm always gay you know it was like yo we heard about that but we got this fish sandwich that we bring in the market let's you know let's do something they want to bang against yeah wendy's right no was it mcdonald's fish for life oh okay yeah all right and it just made sense it just made sense you know you have beef from mcdonald's since beef with mcdonald's and just everything i was going through just beef wise period they were like that makes sense yeah so that that's why it's like really important to get the right people at these corporations because they don't know what's going on because you're clear whoever the guy is at arby's does deserve a raise i think he because he ain't got he could have been god let's be clear that a lot of these executives now are of an age and a generation that grew up on hip-hop that would probably get it but he could because anybody could rap now he could have got ashtray face you know what i'm saying to do arby's got beef with righty ds and they went to save but they got a credible lyricist and you really got that with rb gang we just tattooed and i ain't got it yet help me get it though yeah no for sure get the piece for sure give me all uh give me a chicken you want chicken wings you and they said listen yeah they was like yo let's let let's do this we're going to go 187 drive-by on yeah yes for sure everybody getting it all over again and um man it it it really um it really paid off it really paid off i think it got um it really tuned everybody from our culture totally into arby's even more i mean i don't i don't know if they really were before but just to see the analytics yeah and the numbers right no it was crazy it was like it sounded like bloomberg talking about it everybody did yeah ronald mcdonald's comeback nah he went in he went in here i ain't buying it i'm not buying it it's crazy mcdonald's yeah yeah he's like first they made his voice this is this is by far one of the funnest hip-hop uh commercial like battle yeah there is because like i said they could have got ashtray face yeah and a guy from the hood that is you know got super bars you know super talented but they got you yeah and then and then and then it's actually mcdonald's tweet back like and it's a story there's a story though like macmillan drake drake they had [ __ ] it's the show there's a story that's what's love about it she started off the arby's gang now let's just you million dollar question you eat the roast beef yeah for sure no i don't lie because i don't really know too many people who eat the roast beef no i promise you i'm arby's gang aubry's pretty clean though man i can tell uh no onion bun i put the sesame seed on it uh shredded lettuce tomato arby sauce curly fry sweet tea let's go i don't eat beef dude i'm getting the fish sandwich you sold me on the fish yes you told me that the other [ __ ] is not the [ __ ] right right right they're not they're not i'm rolling with you they're right with you yeah i'm rolling with you we're going to get some rv's out there we got to pop by bro this big [Music] type of question but did you ever think that hip hop would take it like i know joking [Applause] that's why i do it right that's why i do it like like i really i really um man you know we from the time where like yo my first my first grammy nomination i had to go like the day before right when it was like like television it was like untelevised and you had your own little like stupid ceremony they were smart yeah like they won't chris ross [Laughter] billboard awards you know he he hosting and executive producing win i don't know i'm going i'm going dude he's different he's gonna have security on deck he gonna [ __ ] [ __ ] [Applause] if that's the billboard award but he he's he's yeah you you're suffering he's also executive producing it yeah so like he's the executive producer because gotta remember the the oscars was executive produced and produced by um will farrow and them right not real fast no no i'm talking about he's hosting the billboard awards no but we're talking about the producer that you were talking about oh yeah we'll pack yeah yes he killed the show was dope he killed it yeah yeah he killed it you you interested in oscars and [ __ ] like that and oscars yeah i don't ever watch that show no like i'm gonna watch it next year i just wanna see if [ __ ] gonna get it yeah i know i know i never watch it never are you a war show god yeah yeah you you like yeah my team breaks and [ __ ] ah you know i mean anything that you know they gotta do with music and especially if i'm involved and yeah i'm tuned in listen i want everything that comes along with it you know what i'm saying everything that comes along with the game right for sure that was i was super proud of um of daytona being nominated god damn it yeah super proud of that like um it was good man it was just like you just think about man i remember vividly being at the rock nation brunch with nipsey and us like high-fiving and laughing like you went to the obama white house [ __ ] too right yeah yeah don't track them off yeah let's go just um you know just being being at the roc nation brunch man and we like giggling laughing and high-fiving like yo we got we grammy nominated we're in the same category like they're [ __ ] up this is crazy you know and just just being really happy i remember like discussing with him just about being really happy about the category itself i felt like they got him who are you talking about okay yeah really like i felt like they really got it right um i cardi b ended up winning that year and um and i still like you know i get it it was cardi it was myself it was nipsey it was mac miller it was travis scott i felt like they got all right all facets all across the board and you know at the end of the day when it comes to the vote and it's just who they pick or whatever and who they think performs the best but you know it was something that i don't think any of us could be mad at you know what i'm saying right the right people were included yeah yeah the right yeah no listen cardi won she deserved that right but um you know having what it is that i do in hip-hop my content the [ __ ] i talk about the [ __ ] where this [ __ ] is from next to that next to mack next to travis nip like it was bro i couldn't ask for nothing better and to put it in perspective i'm not wrong the grammys before combined r b and rap yes sir yes sir like that was crazy yeah sir you remember listen they started a whole committee yeah remember they like there's a whole committee if they do one vote and then they then they bring in their committee folks and be like ah let's edit this up a little bit you know those who are part of the um the board right right you know what i'm saying yeah man i missed the days of kanye used to interrupt [ __ ] leave yeah alone yeah let legate chill he's chilling right now chilling he's being everyday he was a [ __ ] right now he's chilling i i told him stay where you at yes yes great listen he's listening peaceful calm giggling laughing oh bad and creative did you get my dude he he designed my merch for yeah i'm like you know what he's crazy he's great you know it was crazy it was one day and i can't i can't reveal anything me and him spoke about but it was crazy that he had called me one day and one of my friends caught me with the same exact problem and it was like one of my [ __ ] got 10 billion and one of my dudes probably had ten dollars and they had the same exact problem and that [ __ ] changed my life i remember where i was at was downstairs uh on the beach and i just got one call from one dude and then i got another quote from another it was simultaneously right back and it was like they had the same exact and that's what let me know that money probably doesn't really make you happy it gives you it it puts you on that street but in order for you to to be happy or not you got to walk through that no money makes me happy yeah money does make me happy yes money makes me happy but what i'm saying when i got out of the car right what did i do what did i do when i got out of the car as soon as i got out of the car okay i forgot you walked okay okay yes money makes me happy too but i'm gonna say overall you have to have something else that do you agree or oh for sure no no no for sure you you have to i mean that's why you're married yeah yeah but but i i think that i think that um money makes things better yes it does for sure i mean you know being happy like being happy is is something that you got to like that starts within you ever smoke bad weed before nah it's horrible nah you'll never want to be broke no it's a horrible thing you start being mad at everyone mm-hmm because you're smoking harsh no smoking scent i smoke i smoke on vacation every blue every now and then yeah you smoke you want to smoke that smoked chap joint no i'm i'm i'm cool right now i'm i'm drinking yeah he's drinking yeah but take it for later take it for days so now one of the things that i noticed is you were very famous in the industry for having a whole line of cartier bracelets right bust down cartier bust down that's not my thing watches watches let's make that clear you know i traded it i got rid of my car yet as soon as yeah the real watch people could just watch i consider myself a watch like her i have been i haven't been to watch lover or connoisseur i know i'm a connoisseur but i'm not i don't have the the [ __ ] that look like nothing at 600 000. i don't have right right right you know what i mean i got you know i'm with you yeah yeah i'm with you but yeah for people that don't know that's a normal watch guy cartier bust downs are not good they're just not my thing they're just not my things that's it i mean you know it's to each his own right but they're just not my thing right okay i like i like i love the bracelet well how about the regular cartier watches without bust down i think i think they look nice playing judy's i think they look nice yeah they're nice yeah okay that is a batman you have on yes that is a submariner oh that's what gmt gmt batman the man is out here exclusive y'all the band is out there i don't know that's the that's the [ __ ] you watch you know what i'm saying like you know when you just outside because you know it looked normal as [ __ ] but you can't find that through the retail is crazy i'm not sure i'm doing we're trying to do a watch show i'm leaving this watch wine and watches wine and watches what is cause you named your album daytona yeah what is your favorite daytona uh the green anniversary green face anniversary breath of gold yeah all gold i bought that for my wife yeah and i and i paid and i and i and i and i and i just say voted for your wife yeah oh my god no i bought it that's a different type of money all right so your favorite daytona's the all gold green face yep anniversary very very hard to very very very yeah it's like full master flex show very hard to get a ticket it was it was it was i paid over then i i never never paid over for a watch are you a retail dude yeah i never in my life paid over for a watch so you got direct to rolex yeah director director rolex germany direct to rolex um not even to rolex but to an authorized dealer here who's been down with them for like 30 years so that's where i would buy all my watches from germany and miami uh germany the family was in atlanta they were in atlanta and they have another store in l.a glendale glendale and you get so you found there was yeah i've always been retail retail retail until that that green face the green face and now and wifey wanted that oh that was your suggestion to get it that was what i think she should have okay yeah cause she's [ __ ] yeah yeah she only wears man watches oh she don't wear i've seen a white lady do that to us the only way the man watches the other day the white lady came in and makoto and uh and i was like excuse me i had to ask i was like excuse me what is that and she was like oh this is the man's presidential i was like yeah yeah yeah yeah that is something [ __ ] yeah yeah yeah yeah that was some flying [ __ ] um so but yeah but now i uh i believe i paid maybe like 20 no just 20 over and now today it's like 35 over the 20 yeah yeah it's it's yeah when you name because i uh you know we're patting you on your back when you named your album daytona and it's it's crazy since then it seems like watch is appreciated before no a little a little bit a little before no no a little bit after that i think that's what i'm saying yeah yeah you think you i don't know i don't think it's me i would have took that credit you ain't seen two weeks ago my [ __ ] dropped they told us but it's true but daytona yeah daytona was was was just about having the luxury of time did you know that daytona at that time when you named it that the most expensive rolex there is is a daytona um i don't think i need i don't know if i knew is that the one that um the rainbow it's two of them oh there's one the rainbow daytona is the most expensive one the great factory yes from factories okay yes that one and i believe is nicolas cage has one that's what i was getting this change that was that's what i thought she was i mean i thought he was going back to the yeah somebody got an original like he got some stupid yeah yeah he got some don't even look like a real wife you just know it's nick in this case in 60 seconds he got it she got that real you know what i'm saying i think him and i think it's uh is the guy john mayer too maybe john may it's a jaw man he's a rolex officer for saying [ __ ] because you remember he said [ __ ] back in the days yes help me out yeah he said he was in the vibe magazine he said all right [ __ ] and oh man come on i mean i can't i got straightened out david's gone let's just go yeah yeah yeah [Music] yeah me and sharon have the same chocolate face daytona chocolate with the leather brand okay yeah we um he was working with chocolate with the leather bed yeah oh you sophisticated you got suits i got a couple yeah right okay he um uh he was down here working with p one time and that's when we just discovered that yeah yes and he had the arm and chair at the top i forget wasn't that i think it's orange or burgundy somewhere brown yeah we got it yeah we got to get you a watch no [ __ ] watch listen i got a question man yes sir i'm sorry where do you think lyricism is going in hip hop because it felt that in the 90s right like coming out of the late 80s we talked about that era and then going into the 90s you could get you you could have got a deal off of a clue mixtape kicking a crazy 16 right right sounding the you you could have kicked these lyrics and you didn't even know half of these words you were saying what they meant right as long as it sounded good right and then we departed from that heavy yep where do you think the future of lyricism is in hip-hop right now um i think that as long as there's somebody um who has the who has the passion who has the passion for for finding that lyric-driven hip-hop you know whether they be in these labels or whether they're a fan um i think lyricism is going to be here forever i don't think i don't think the fundamentals of hip-hop die right like i think that that is what um that is always going to be the cornerstone cornerstone and driving force of anybody who we say is nice out here so uh and there's all and when you think about it think about everybody the the you know all the biggest in the game you know i'm saying they all are you know respected for they pin or respected for their lyricism you know you have all others type of sub-genres of hip-hop um you know more vibey more whatever but at the base of it all even you know look at future and look at what future does when you when you but when you hear him and you decipher what he's saying even he has a title of being like the illest toxic [ __ ] because you you know because people can hear and understand and relate to what he's talking about that too is like ill i say that about trick because i'm from miami and to me trick was like the jay-z of miami yeah if you from miami you understand what he's talking about what he's talking about is lyrical for sure hella lyrical for sure but um let me ask you because um i've heard you bring a future that automatically made me think of designer right that made me think of that you were the president at the time and um he's been trying to get at us um for quite some time and i haven't been able to speak to him direct i don't think you have neither right designer designer oh no independent no no um and his claim is you know kanye got my publishing you know good music has the rights to me he doesn't get uh any publishing he doesn't get any royalties he doesn't get any anything like that but yet i believe when the signing did happen it was a big upfront check right where do you stand on on positions like that i mean i i feel like i feel like well i know designer made a lot of money right you made tons of money right and there's a difference from upfront money um i mean however you want to look at it he made he made he came in the game and made tons of money no lie right um i you know i'm i'm not on his you know in his management or anything like that as an accountant so yeah so i mean i don't know um i don't know how even his deal is structured i know i know he you know i'm sure was negotiated by his lawyer for sure and um however that turned out you know he was he he approved it whatever it was right you know what i'm saying and um [ __ ] when you think about it i mean you know designer was hot man like super hot came into the game you uh yay made made your song one of his biggest records on pablo right um gave you a hell of a springboard hell of a you know hell of a trampoline to jump off of yeah and um yeah i mean i don't know like i don't hear like see i don't hear the side of like uh designer being uh disgruntled i i don't hear that's just going through i think it's um it's it's a case because whoever he's calling that's their point oh okay saying yo listen he wants to say like how he didn't he doesn't receive royalties and um uh he doesn't own his publishing or whatever and it's something that you know when i got in the game i sold my publishing i didn't know uh you didn't know you sold it no i didn't know i got it back in that very next hour very nice oh you sold it though i knew i knew it afterwards after um now whose fault is that no that was clearly my fault okay it was clearly my fault you were hella young you were like what yeah i'm seventeen i was seventeen eight maybe somebody that's really not your fault because you gotta meet your counsel yeah right but but but you know having uh you know having having having lawyers and and then being in tune with your lawyer and your team being in tune with your lawyer that that definitely does fall on you because you got artists right now too right uh yeah uh was it money yawn um no no y'all yandy's my y'all getting too much money to be my artist already oh [ __ ] yeah so what is this speak about y'all [Music] yeah yeah um i have a record label that i'm that i'm building out not good music no yeah is it under good music no airwave music group um it is um it's it's basically me building the infrastructure for people from the virginia area wow to uh be noticed like the one thing that i i always say is that when you think about all of us who came into the game tim missy pharrell clips whatever being not producers whoever right um we all had to leave and go get hot skills magu whatever we all had to leave and go get hot right i mean you know we had to leave and go ask for deals right that was just yeah the story for every region at that time right well yeah for every region it wasn't outside of new york outside of new york right and um damn yeah yeah but this is just the truth bro it's the truth no no it was an industry thing it was where the industry was right so so with that being the case and again we were adopted by that new york circuit virginia was right we never took the time that houston did to build out theirs or memphis did or in atlanta did or bay area to make it self-sufficient which they did right they did that so right you know come around fast forward that's why when you look at what's hot what's going on what's bubbling under what's got the most stream so on and so forth that's not signed yet you can see it in all those different places because those places you know taught the people how to even be fans yeah of their neighbor right we never we never were taught that so that's that's the whole goal in airway music airwave yeah airway music group um uh shaolin uh r b songstress um oh yeah she was that we we met her at revolt yeah she's on change she won no she's dope she's yeah so yeah no she's she's so no we she's dope right right remember boris you remember yeah yeah so um um you know uh leto uh why not do something good bro no thank you i've been drinking yeah i'm [ __ ] with you i'm just gonna try to see your work but yeah yeah why not deuce lido shaolin um you know uh also not sign not signed to airway but uh i manage them with my man dre um this young chris he's like really viral right now he's on um the little techa tour he signed in columbia but um so it's a it's a few it's a few uh people out of va right now making noise and more that aren't that aren't affiliated with me right but um the whole goal for airwave is to create that infrastructure so that it can be more to come through and sign to me or don't sign me whatever the case may be at least at least they will garner that fanfare that will get them national attention eventually that's that's the goal right let's do um pharrell is one of the greatest producers of all time without a doubt no nothing to talk about yes why do you think that he kind of like i always say that you know i always say that because um how my career was i was the man i was the man in new york and at the time being a man in new york did mean you was the man all over the place for sure but it didn't mean all over the place was gonna accept you right and that beat that pharrell he was smart enough to say i'm going to leave super thug because he could have switched those drums and made it sound like primo drums made it sound like large professor drums made it sound like havoc drums he would have never did that though i'll tell you why but go ahead and and this was the first time where people really got to hear our east coast dude rhyme on what is considered almost a south beat i wouldn't say quite south but almost and i've seen the effect i've seen i've seen me be in the studio with pharrell and like you said all this time he'll hear a story and he'll make a beat around the story he'll make a [ __ ] around the story i've seen him create magic out of nowhere how come every time i say this around him he bows his head and he gets humble is that is that because he really he really doesn't hate i want him to be hip-hop about it right i mean yeah that's what i've like you know what i'm saying like you know i hate it like i absolutely hate it he knows i hate it that he's humble but i hate it like that right like you know it's like it's tough it's like you know you know and maybe that works with some of the music that he does but like when we on what we on right i need you to be big chains right in big cars right crashing ferraris like i would be before i went yeah i would come into the studio and play in my swiss beat joint and he'd just look at me like all right bro listen just make it drive left the whole the whole the whole that whole early 2000 thing was all about competition grinding was specifically made to try to do something that could eclipse the benjamins it disrupted production at that time that was the goal um when you talk about primo and and and people like that who are his you know he's you know he's there right right right rightfully but still going into the studio it was like okay what can i do to out do that right he's the reason right he's the reason now that i when i listen to beats they got to be something unorthodox it doesn't like i don't like just muddy hard beats i don't i don't like that that's not because i know now that beast can be bright and have like beasts can be hard and it can be super thug level of chaos starting fights for the first time right in the studio i'm assuming what i'm saying right you know it's crazy when we first placed with doug for program directors and you know mixed show people they said the record was too dark yep so that's the reason why we if you notice we never made a dark scene in the video we made it all bright because and they said it was too dark because you know why i never heard of that it was crazy this is crazy and should know this rob walker definitely knows this my reputation as a street dude was so bad at the time and they didn't hear about the neptunes they didn't they didn't they didn't realize it this is the same dude that was doing the mace records that was doing the part records they thought it was young we younger young people they do a crime t-u-n-e-s the way they used to be like one of the best and they thought they were gangsters right so they're like we can't be having you guys with these neptune guys until i put them in the video and it was like oh no these guys are not gangsters at all right at all which works you know what i'm saying but i go back to say that like you know i was a kid you know doing that i was a kid watching y'all make grinding i was a kid watching these beautiful albums and these beautiful records coming together and when i come back and i think about it i was like this dude if not the he is one of the best producers of all times for sure oh it's like he took me from a sound that was clearly just for new york like like like to this day i've lived in miami for 15 years as soon as i opened up my mouth like you from new york i can't i can't hide it right but he was able to take my voice keep me new york would make me international that was that was amazing can i ask you yes yeah for for pure ignorance because the neptunes is the neptune that's chad and pharrell yeah right what's chad's role in that because because you know when you're referring to super thug to me that's the neptune that was but you're referring to pharrell alone what's chad's role in in in the production um well i've worked with them through many eras so you know when i initially was working with the neptunes um let's say for the album that never came out or for lord willing it was more of uh um chad would do the keys and the chords and he would play um and add you know those type of like keyboard signs he was a scott storch of that situation yeah i guess i mean i don't know i don't want to yeah i guess because he's famous for playing the case for a lot of big records right so yeah playing yeah that's what that's what he did it was it was that it was the it was the playing and it was the sounds like you know finding those unorthodox sounds that would go into the neptune sound right boom you know it was funny sorry to cut you off i always thought it was just all both of them like at one point um when like real would just come around and there wouldn't be a child i would always feel a jerk like what's going on like i never knew that they could coexist without each other yeah yeah because i mean you know for pharrell at the time pharrell wasn't playing right and then he started playing right and then when you're saying playing you talk about keys and things like that so now you get into hell half no fury and that's all for real you know and um i mean you know mostly pharrell i mean i'm trying to think back and i don't want to like say anything that's wrong or whatever but hell have no fury was very top to bottom p right um um you know uh since then it has definitely been a lot of pee then maybe there's some post-production co-production and definitely mixing right um on the engineering engineering side of um the final product with chad right um but um you know it just depends on the project right i just think it's important when we talk about that era that it was both of them oh yeah i mean yeah you're talking about arrows the neptunes is the neptune yeah and then when when pharrell breaks off it's clearly it's it's p he's going in yeah he's doing what he does both i feel comfortable by herself yeah but but it's always like it's always like um and i don't want to say it uh like this but it's always like seeing like santa claus and elves or santa claus and uh his his wife and santa claus you're crazy you know like if you just see santa claus by itself it's not christmas right it's like i want to see like the bag like the bag is a character too and when i see both of them right for lack of a better term i see santa claus i see the l's i see the bags right i see the clocks i see the sleigh right you get the balls like you know what i'm saying like me like i'm always that's that was my first international hit right and i was proud to and i remember pharrell said no one listens to me so that's what i remember he was like no one shots me up that's why i wanted to put that in there nep n-e-p-t-u-n yeah that's the way they listen to me like one of the best right and i just seen the fruit and you know that was that was you as their group yeah and it was like that's what i'm saying that's why i keep bringing up grinding is because for us like i said and i said it earlier for us to even go out there and see that this is a different world we just thought okay this is virginia but zoom zoom zoom and then boom boom we're doing [Applause] holy he was coming from newport beach and we just saying okay newport beach was like hi there got to be something nice about that and oh oh no virginia beach very terrible right like you know back yeah it was bags of money pit bulls roaming around the apartments type [ __ ] in his neighborhood is terrible like listen for him to be who he is like he he made a he made a definite choice to say i'm gonna be this guy not that guy right because he's from the gutter yeah i've said it so bad that i only want to say that whatchamacallit i mean i love the neighborhood beautiful people from there but right bruh yeah he from it um really i remember rob walker told me yeah he's from it but he does not want to be a part of it at all and he made a record for me and he's like thanks that's up um so i don't know if you remember this record it's on the um it's one of the clones out okay and he's just talking about gangbanging i don't remember what he was talking about he's like he's like face what's up okay yeah i remember rob walker looked at me and was like this is your fault is that pharrell's gang banging he doesn't want to talk about no gang [ __ ] he doesn't want to talk about no tough guy [ __ ] until you walk in the studio and i would be mama just it would be so funny man you know he he um he morphs into you know whoever he's around that's his that's that's like probably one of his best you know attributes that's why when you say you tell the story or whatever the kid like you know super thug is rambunctious because that's how he see you exactly at that time that would be a good producer because he's asking for a specific artist yeah i always would say uh the first time i was produce produced was for real the first time i was really produced was clark kent africa of course that was produced producers i sing clark records yes yeah yeah yeah i asked him who do i need i i i i talk to clark kent sarkozy yes for guidance yes that's a good person that's crazy i never knew you yeah but clark was the first person to actually because i knew how to rhyme i knew this today i would i would i would come into the studio with 24 bars and 36 bars and [ __ ] like yo this doesn't make sense no where in the world you have to structure this [ __ ] so clark was the first person to produce me wow then the first person to produce me but without giving me the hook was track masters okay first person that would be like yo look here's the how the intro should sound his this his dad all you got to do is do your part here and that's it that's for real that was for real like he gave me the keys to the [ __ ] car he gave me the the um the vanilla tree yeah to smell good right yeah and just rhyme and then like you know what i mean goddamn let's make some noise [Applause] but i want to say something real quick yes sir um i've i've been on this 30-day you know uh non-drinking thing me right shout out to you bro for doing this thank you i appreciate that but it was because of a a couple of things one thing is i'm never going to ever ever ever ever ever ever drink before episode again i've already had that rule i've already wasn't supposed to do that and i can't blame being drinking on like uh um a problem i'm a professional drinker the problem is sometimes i take or i use information like when i looked at the information and i look i actually cringed and i looked at uh the episode where i spoke about um i made it sound like eminem gave or automated like yo it's either you gonna uh uh have 50 perform or or i'm not going to show up and that was not it what it was was i was being drunk i was trying to like hype up the episode and i was using words and i'm using it so i was trying to be articulate with my articulation yes yes yes that's crazy my articulation was not articulated so when i look back at it there's no one called me i'm gonna take a drink today just please i'll take it through this shotgun let me finish there was no one who called me but when i looked at it i was like that's not what i am that's not what this show is about you're right and it it no way sharp shaped form of fashion was there cheers that i heard it was an altered native did i uh i think that and then and me looking at 50 how 50 you could look at it too i'm looking like oh okay you know as much as 50 has done in his life for me to say that i understand how he's he he could have took that the wrong way i'm going to say how jacob took that the wrong way i could understand how i am going to take that up even me using the reference the white boy i just didn't like that i looked at it and i cringed you know some of my closest friends are white and i just didn't like the way i said it so for anybody who saw this footage and and you could clearly see i'm sloppy but that's not that's not an excuse i do this for a living so this is my fault uh i clearly was in the wrong clearly the way i worded things are clearly saying certain certain things that i might be mining [ __ ] in himself period i would like to you know you talking about the snoop episode yeah the snoop episode you should say you did drink before the episode i was a whole flight a whole flight all the way to the west coast yes and that's so and there's only two episodes in this whole time that i've looked at and i've cringed and i'm going to tell you the other episode you know don't look at them i don't look at none of these episodes uh beat nuts that's not a big nuts episode [ __ ] deserves to come back nuts to drink chips real drink champs cause that and i try to stop that drink champs and your drunk ass won't let me stop it damn now everyone just still goes with me to myself come on everyone else you want to say no stress rock [Music] so you know uh again and again that you know i'm dealing with real big names and rail so there were so many you know uh uh uh you know different uh uh opinions don't beat yourself up i just wanted to straighten that out i just want to straighten that now listen let's be clear i want to get this one story straight now justin timberlake might be mad at me for this okay came on here sat in the same chair you got and perrell said he stopped he had stopped working with justin timberlake because at the time justin timberlake was on job you guys had beef with job and respectfully he didn't want to continue that relationship i dropped it for our episode two weeks later i seen justin timberlake in car bones to the timberlake comes up to me he taps me on whether i believe it's my shoulder or or might have been here you might give me a little bit of nothing he gave you a tummy tuck he said that that that story is not exactly true so i go okay and i come on here and i say exactly what he says to me you know the story is not exactly true and then through the graveyard just like what the [ __ ] he was supposed to say so i want to hear from you yeah because you guys had a great relationship cool uh up to my uh pharrell justin everybody yes everybody and then this this discrepancy happens with job what was your stance on that yeah as far as as far as i knew um as far as i knew pharrell the neptunes did not work on that album and justin had to go work with tim on that one river album yes because um because job would not let the clips out of their deal wow i don't know any other story i mean i wouldn't even what possibly would be the story right i mean what what what wha wha what was untrue about it oh i don't know i never got he never explained to you yeah i thought you could no i was true yeah but it's true that pharrell did not want to work on that album because of well yeah i mean no no it wasn't like no wanted to work on the album yes he did not work on that he chose not to work on the album because you know he felt like job was holding us hostage and he felt like he had done a lot for john he's done a lot for jive and justin yeah for for them not to you know give him what he felt was his group back let me ask you a theoretical question yeah he has his bills you have your bills yeah what happened if pharrell would have done that and would have done what if crimea river was pharrell but production as opposed to dimlin production and you guys was in what we call purgatory somewhat would you would have took it personal with pharrell or you wouldn't because you ain't taking personality no no you know what and i and i didn't that was it wasn't even like it was a thing no no i wouldn't have taken it personally number one okay but um that was that was that was for real on you know he had that choice yeah that was pharrell on his lawyer so so you know you want to so you understand why i'd be like you know i can look twice when when it don't feel like that but like yes yeah you know what i'm saying so like cause he's been consistent otherwise for sure like he's listen he really he stood on that too and that would have been a big record for i feel like everything that neptune's did was big for everybody who was affiliated meaning us and let's just keep it real he that's probably turned down millions of dollars to stand by what oh man i'm just calculating whatever it is let's be honest with millions of dollars i don't feel for them justin timberlake times 15. right holy [ __ ] well he [Music] um y'all worked it out afterwards no no no we there was never no beef there was never no issues like it was literally i didn't i don't even think pharrell and justin had an issue yeah it was just label [ __ ] it was labeled she was the the head of the label and pharrell right i didn't think it was a thing right then listen and even since then even since then that was that was barry weiss at the time since then it's like oh it's all cool like it's all uh honestly like i see barry i've talked to barry everything is fine all right and it was business too but you know like the same way i can sit and speak about lawyers and contractors you know i eat that too right for sure for sure who who for real could go against who neptune's going against and verses oh everybody they go against everybody yeah everybody names the buck i think i think they're gonna he gonna win against scott they gonna win against scott nah they gonna win against scott you said that's the only person neptune's versus metro boomin no i don't think you can i mean i think i guess i mean i would if i'm if we're going to talk with neptune's i'm going to just stay with legacy legacy that's yeah you know what i'm saying like i would say dre timberland damn right i think neptune's in timberland would be awesome that's gonna be fire i think so too that'd be fire yeah that okay well listen i'm gonna tell you i mean and this of course it doesn't matter but um it don't matter but there was one time i believe the neptune's owned 43 of the charts yeah and then timbaland owned the other 40 50 you know something close within that range virginia what's going on in the world you're trying to say yeah exactly so i mean i don't know if um i don't know if that win i mean i don't know who would necessarily win because it's not all about hits if you notice right that [ __ ] ain't about it's about cultural moments so um you know i think that'd be good i mean it'd be good all right timberland against neptune that'd be great but i think they can go against any i don't believe they're getting blown out by nobody right blown out no no no no they're not getting blown out by nobody no it's gonna be a fight it's gonna be a fight with all of the best you wanna name whoever yeah yeah yeah i don't think i don't think there's a lot of people [ __ ] well nah hell no not jermaine dupree sorry i heard his vegan ice cream is great um [ __ ] i mean jermaine l tudo like it's like he got a lot he jermaine dupri got it we got a catalog but i don't know if the catalog you know again this hits it's his it's his not all of them should be cultural you know what i'm saying you seen that [ __ ] like you've seen it you've seen kiss mixtape you down beat you down like you know that ain't billboard nothing don't talk no charts millions you could have put any million selling record against kiss whenever you wanted to when he did who shot your freestyle call case closed curtains it's over so you know if you got to look at you got to look at verses really like that like versus is way more cultural than it is hits to me your battle toddler car leon versus where i was so he's stepping it all the way up this [ __ ] every verse that lives right right now i'm just telling you it's a million percent he's going to make sure you like his raps this time wow i respect that push it man let me just say something man you're definitely a legend thank you you're a person i appreciate your person uh you know you're a real person you're a good person yes sir uh but besides all that um that's a personal level but you are one of the last of a dying breed one of the last people that i know you said it it doesn't matter about the beat but it's it's for people like you and like nahs it's like it's always like 60 to 70 percent of your lyrics first because your lyrics is just it's just something that we're we want to hear what you're going to say first then we say oh okay that beat is dope too right you know what i'm saying so and for you to you know what i mean cause they call they uh uh they call that dinosaurs they call and for us to be wait i'd say you're inspiring a new breed to be honest yeah not the last of anybody say whatever the [ __ ] they want to say that is the that is the foundation of this [ __ ] this this takes uh this takes a skill set bro then can nobody take that from me right i don't care how young how old i'm yeah smoking everything yes until i'm tired when i stop competing then i'm done right i'm cool i ain't gonna just exist in this [ __ ] either right you know what i'm saying but nah bro yeah so so let me just keep you in your flowers so i'm gonna let you know man we proud of you on this side thank generation our people the people that really respect real hip hop really respect you know the content and and and the thing about it is 12 records these albums is 9 400 records right now not about me all classic albums back then were 10 12. i think it was eight or something like that so you even did it that right like yeah short and sweet look straight look everything is is dope we respect you we appreciate you yeah we want to thank you to your friends get your flowers to your face you know what i mean and we got done below for you thank you but before we get about here anything you want to say anything you got coming up um man um you
