I love the Ellen one where she says no and the crowd just starts cheering for some reason.
Surprise public proposals aren't "romantic" or "cute" they're just manipulation. He does it in public so she'll feel pressured to say yes. Every one of these guys deserve being humiliated.

If you haven't discussed marriage, and you get rejected, I don't feel bad. Life isn't a fairy tale. And if you didn't discuss at least the possibility prior, and you propose, and she says yes, is that really better? Worth shooting in the dark for?
I proposed to my wife in public... but we discussed the possibility of it once or twice before hand, and I didn’t get down on one knee to telegraph it to everyone.
Our second date we had played Scrabble at a Starbuck’s, so when I proposed I took her to that same location.
I put the ring in the bag of letters, and told her to pick out her tiles. While she was doing that, I got out the Scrabble board I had made with “Will You Marry Me” and our names set in tiles on the board.
My wife doesn’t even like the surprise birthday “celebrations” at restaurants. She would have been mortified and pissed if I had done a proposal where people were clapping and pressuring her to say yes.
So... it had meaning to an early date, was in public, but she could have said no without any pressure as no one around us knew what was going on until she accepted.
We did get free coffee though.
I would bet at least half of these are fake, especially the ones at sporting events.
That "riot act" one looks painfully real tho.
