babylon for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north saith the lord as babylon hath caused the slain of israel to fall so that so at babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth ye that have escaped the sword go away stand not still remember the lord are far off and let jerusalem come into your mind we are confounded because we have heard reproach shame hath covered our faces for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the lord's house wherefore behold the days come saith the lord that i will do judgment upon her graven images and through all her land the wounded shall 47-53 god's blessed word for his blessed people let us pray what a friend we have in jesus all our sins and grief to bear what a privilege it is to carry everything to god in prayer our father in our goddess again that we are blessed with the opportunity to approach your throne of grace first of all to say thank you you've been so good to us thank you god for waking us up this morning thank you father for a reasonable portion of life health and for strength thank you god that we are clothed in our right minds we ask now god that as we come into your service as we come into this sanctuary god that we will come with a praise on our lips knowing god that we could not have done it without you we pray now god that you will continue to bless our leadership god we ask now a special blessing for the man of god that has to stand in the gap between us and thee and declare your word strengthen his body right now in the name of jesus speak god to his mind into his soul god he might be able to stand under the anointing of the holy ghost and declare your word use him now god for your glory god if you do it we'll be so careful to give your name to praise and then god help him uh as he lead these your people hurting your word that you said to joshua so i'll be with you as i was with moses god we ask now that you lead him as he lead us god into the promise bless us in a special way god preach this initial summer on august of 1997 doing a revival at maple hill united holy church maple hill north carolina at saint paul united whole church maple hill knockout he received his first ministerial license at the age of 11 from the southern district convocation he received his first pastoral appointment in september of 99 at the age of 22. after faith and dedicated service within the carolinas district subdivision and the southern district convocation he was appointed as district elder in september of 98. bishop piglet is currently passing saint john united holy church in burghard north carolina and saint celite in that holy church in lagrange north carolina he has pastor for 32 years and in those years he has pastored the following churches gethsemane united holy church hamster north carolina tabernacle homeless church whiteville and saint matthew berger north carolina for 19 years he served as a district elder of a southern district convocation and a member of the board of presbytery where he served as chairman for 10 years bishoprican has served the fallen positions in the united holy church international before reading for the reunification of the united holy church of america in 2000 vice president of the general ypha department southern district field worker carolina district ypha president vice president of the carolina district union and he served on numerous communities within the district bishop pickett is known for his entire dedication faithful service wisdom and humble of ominous of spirit the lord has anointed and blessed bishop tremendously to preach in many places preaching in south africa south africa one of his greatest experiences through his preaching and teaching many lives have been changed and touched he enjoys preaching and teaching the gospel mr pickett believes that there that one must treat others right it is the right thing to do and that you never know whom help you may need along the way he is a 1986 graduate of pinder high school bergo north carolina in 1987 he graduated from harris barber college in raleigh north carolina in 1991 he graduated from united christian college goldsboro north carolina where he received a bachelor of theology degree in may of 2013 bishop pickett was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from united christian college for his heart and faithfulness and dedication and loyalty within the southern district convocation of the united holy church of america in 2016 bishop pickett senior was elected as vice president of the southern district convocation and in 2017 he became he was elected he was bishop elect you know church of america bishop was consecrated as bishop of may 2018 in all holy church of america bishop pickett was elevated to the vice president position of the sudden district convocation due to the death of the vice president in january 2019 february 2020 due to the death of our president bishop picker was elevated to the position of president of the southern district convocation on march 20 21. at the bishop council young holy church of america bishop pickett was elected to serve on the general board of bishops of the united holy church of america he was married to the lovely elder sharon mcallister pickett formerly of durham north carolina since march 21 1992 they have three children devin junior davieva and davion the family currently resides in princeton north carolina bishop pickett is saved sanctified filled with the holy ghost and term and determined to serve god with all of his hearts there are many things i could say about him personally but all you need to know this morning that he is truly a man of god god has elevated him to this position as president of the southern district this will be his central first official say to your people and then lord give me them receptive hearts to receive the word and whatever shall be accomplished i shall take no credit but give you all praise glory and honor for it is your name my family from the maple hill community amen i know there in the house somewhere and to all of you it is good to be in the house of the lord today this week has been a tough week as we dedicated this convocation to our late bishop ralph it would love come on give it up for amen [Applause] who led us from 1996 until february of 2021. it has been a rough week but it's been a glorious and joyous week as i reflected back on my parents and i thought about them and i said i know my mom and dad is looking down and they would be proud of what the lord has done i've never really thought about them as much as i have this week because they carried me to convocation when i should have been in school elementary school i was at convocation y'all and so i've been in attending the southern district convocation basically all my life and when i look at what the lord has brought me from i can't help but give him praise [Applause] not a crying person don't do a lot of crying but i could because he's been good to me better to me than i've been to myself i played convocation told somebody this week me and my nephew and cousins we had eight days of convocation all in one day but never did i think that i would be where i am today i owe it all to the lord [Applause] so many preachers have preached here behind this podium this week there's not a whole lot that i can say that you haven't already heard and i've stood behind this podium several times but when i look out there and see all of you makes me a little nervous and i often time tell the preachers that i serve when they talk to me that there's not a time that i don't get up that i'm not nervous but with the help of god i have a word to give to you our thing says pressing forward in difficult times from jeremiah 51 and 50. my text today shall be taken from james chapter 1 verses 2 through 4. and also psalms 27 and 13. if you stand for the reading of the texts and it reads my brethren counted all joy when ye fall into diverse temptation knowing this that the trying of your faith work is patient but let patients have her perfect work that ye may be perfect and entire wanting nothing psalms 27 and 13 says i had fainted unless i had believed to see the goodness of the lord in the land of the living i had fainted unless i had believed to see the goodness of the lord in the land of the living i want to talk today briefly from the subject faith to see beyond difficulties faith to see beyond difficulties you may be seated when circumstances look bleak how can we trust god that has a plan for our lives there are times when we feel as if our circumstances will never change we are unable to see beyond the crisis troubles problems or inactivities in our lives we desperately look for a sign or message that tells us that everything will be all right that things will improve and get better but i believe in the midst of difficult times all you need to know is that god has a good plan for our lives we often times when things are not going our way we tend to search for answers and solutions hoping that our future will be better in our than our presence when the iras were displaced in a foreign country against their will they did just yet they hoped for better exiled in babylon from their home and place of worship everything was strange to the irelis food was strange landscape and culture and traditions were strange the people felt defeated and depressed and they desperately turned to their religious leader for a message of hope israel was told they would return quickly to their homeland but this was not true because it gave them some type of false hope but then the prophet jeremiah began instructing the people to engage in their new environment and seek the well-being of the city they were going to be there a long time but he said blessings would soon be coming their way for the scripture says for i know the plans i have for you declares the lord plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you a future hope and a future god was turning their situation into an opportunity of faith personal and growth seeing beyond difficult times takes faith and hope life doesn't come without ups and downs but when our faith is in jesus christ we can see beyond life difficulties anybody know what i'm talking about one of the greatest temptations of life is to come to absorb in our circumstances there are people whose visions are turned totally inward and they can never see beyond their particular circumstances whenever we look at our circumstances we end up in despair disillusion all of this occurs when we focus on our circumstance rather than through the eyes of faith seeing beyond our difficulty when we look at seeing beyond seeing beyond has been defined as to imagine to perceive or anticipate seeing beyond difficulties it's simply having the ability or capability to visualize and imagine yourself coming out of what you are going through right now having faith in christ would cause our perception to change while experiencing difficulties in our lives that's why i said faith amen to see beyond amen our difficulties because when we have faith in god it allows our perception to change of our circumstances anybody know what i'm talking about you've been sick the doctors have told you they couldn't do you any good but because you had faith in god your perception of your condition didn't stop you from seeing amen your healing your deliverance your breakthrough and so this morning i say faith to see beyond your circumstances this morning this afternoon it's imperative that we as believers are able to see beyond difficult times because if we are unable to see beyond difficult times then what we see in the natural amen will block our view of what god has promised us in our in his word when we are unable to see beyond the problem it also says something about our relationship with christ because he tells us to walk by faith and not by sight and i'm certain today that a lot of us have walked by sight but i come to challenge you this morning to follow the word of god start walking by faith and not by sight and then you can see amen beyond your difficulties amen we must never allow the enemy to cause us to lose our spiritual sight when our faith is weak it causes us to not have hope and vision to see beyond the difficulty hebrews 11 and 1 says faith is being sure of what we hope for it is being sure of what we do not see so today if you have faith tell somebody i can see beyond my difficulties amen i'm so glad today amen to know that christ has made it possible for us to see beyond our difficulties you pray with me in a little while and won't be out of your way too many of us we're trying to see without faith and when we don't have faith then we're trying to see amen we tend to try a man to solve our own problems we tend to try to come up with solutions that we will never be able to come up with but i stand to let you know today that the lord said you need faith in order to see beyond the difficulties each of us today have difficulties in our lives but i want to let you know that jesus died on the cross amen he provided a way that we could be able to see beyond our difficulty and if the truth be told right now there are a lot of us in here today that we have difficulties in our lives but i want to let you know that you can see beyond those difficulties somebody said thank you lord well in our text amen james begins with the command he indicates that there's something that we should be doing something that you and i as believers should be doing amen the implication is that we are not doing it right now but that we should start doing it amen and that when we start we ought to continue to do it well preacher what is it that james wants us to do james said we are to begin considering something in a different way than what we have in the past in other words you've been letting your problems get the best of you you've been letting all your troubles get you down you've been letting the enemy tell you that you can't make it amen but i come to let you know amen that james said considered all joy when you fall into diverse temptation somebody said thank you lord amen we are commanded to begin considering our trials as reasons for all our joy in other words all our trials they are all unpleasant difficult troubles we may encounter a reason for our joy in other words we are not getting joy because we have them but in the midst of all our triumphs in the midst of all our difficulties he said consider it all joy in other words he tells us that we should not complain about our troubles or consider them as mixed up blessings but we should consider our difficulties as reason to rejoice let us note here that it is our christian faith that god is testing in this text to see if our faith is genuine because sometimes we profess that we have faith in god but we do more complaining and murmuring about what we're going through but here god is trying to test our faith to see if our faith is really rooted in him so god he allows troubles in our lives as a test to demonstrate our faith so when you and i pass the test it produces patience in us it produces endurance in us and allows us to see beyond our difficulty no matter what it looks like no matter what people say but when you are able i said when you were able to pass the test god said count it all joy somebody said thank you lord i wonder this afternoon is there anybody in the building today that you know for a fact that you've had some trials some tribulations but james they counted all joy now the reason why some of us we cannot count our trials as joy is because our relationship is not as we say it is but when you have faith in jesus he will allow you to have joy in the midst of your troubles in the midst of your difficulties he'll give you joy he will allow you to see beyond somebody said i can see beyond my difficulties somebody said i can see the breaking of day [Music] you pray with me i'm just about to get out of here but i come to let you know today that the lord say faith to see beyond the difficulties so i encourage you today to grab hold of faith and see beyond your difficulties well in the song that i read the psalmist was meditating upon his circumstances he remembered the moments when roaring waters of troubles poured upon him in staggering torrence he remembered days when his enemies came upon him like a tidal wave leaving him sinking in the rushing waters of defeat he didn't notice on so many occasions how the wicked were elevated into the throne of prosperity while the righteous was seemingly to be all trodden down but yet in the midst of it all huh amen he said in the midst of my circumstances amen the psalmist cried out he said i have fainted unless i believe to see the goodness of the lord so i stopped by this afternoon huh to tell somebody that in the midst of your troubles in the midst of your difficulties you got to be able to cry out like the psalmist that i have fainted lest i have believed to see the goodness of the lord somebody said gloria somebody said glory well what the writer was saying huh he was simply saying that it don't mean that i'm going to collapse but rather it means that if i had not seen the goodness of the lord spiritually i would have collapsed i would have lost my courage i would have lost my spirit huh but i would have have been into a state of dejection hustle but because i saw through the eyes of faith the goodness of the lord i can see how beyond my situation um i can see i'm beyond my difficulties huh i'm so glad i said i'm so glad that i can see how beyond my difficulties if the devil had had his way up he would kill all of us up when we get sick he would make us quit up and throw in the towel but i'm so glad that i can say i just like the psalmist that i oh lord i have painted us lest i be bluff to see the goodness of the lord touch your neighbor above your neighborhood and say faith my difficulties i got to get out of here but i'm so glad i said i'm so glad that i learned them to count it all joy i learned how to count it all joy when it looked bad when it looked rough when the devil said i'm not going to make it happen i learned how to count it all joy and i want to encourage you today to look beyond your difficulties how you gonna do it through the eyes of faith somebody said faith somebody said faith faith will help you see beyond your difficulties you need uh to take the blinders off of we have a whole of faith and when you get fade you can see the breaking up day when you have faith you can see your way out and is there anybody today that you can see that i'm coming out somebody said i'm coming out with my hands up lift it up [Music] oh yeah i'm coming out with my hands huh lift it up somebody said faith deceiving you on her my different cultures up man problems huh find out your problem hustle when you have faith you can see beyond it and james said count it all count it all [Music] somebody said john somebody said joy i got to get out of here but i'm so glad i felt i'm so glad i'm so glad that i can see myself coming out of my situation huh can you see yourself coming out of your situation huh so what james said in the midst of your troubles huh in the midst of your try yourself he's that counting of joy jimmy said let patience have a perfect work because when you go through your situation huh you will come out better better better than you were before huh i got to get out of here huh but count it all your house count it all your husband the songwriter said keep looking beyond your troubles huh keep looking beyond your troubles huh and driver all the cares of everyday life keep looking up beyond all your grief keep looking up beyond huh is there anybody that looking up beyond your difficult health is there anybody huh you're looking [Music] [Applause] [Music] somebody say yeah [Applause] somebody said yes somebody said yes i'm reminded i'm reminded of so many who went on before us some of us we wish that they were still here but they lived they lived to go up to a better place and so i want to let you know that even though you may be going through her god said i'll give you joy while you're going through huh i'll give you a song just sing in the midst of your troubles huh and i want to let you know how to play to see how beyond your difficulties when you got faith deceiving on your difficulty you can pressure you can pressure you can of one thing and you're back into another but this morning i offer today i offer you jesus if you don't know the lord then you're gonna always be stuck and overwhelmed by your difficulties but when you come to jesus and give your heart to jesus and believe in him and continue to trust him every trouble and trial you have god to show you that you're gonna come out [Music] all right is there anybody that's been in some trouble and some some trials and god brought you out and you know whether nobody but god [Music] it wasn't your education it wasn't your money but it was god that brought you out so today if you're unsafe we got enough space down here at the altar that if you don't know jesus that you don't have to leave here like you came but you can come to jesus today i offer jesus we pray right now that those who are listening to my voice god that you would touch them perhaps there's somebody god that wanted to come but did not come up god they they don't know you as lord and savior but god i pray that something have been said to cause them to come out of darkness into the marvelous light and so god right now we pray god that you would touch your heart touch your mind renew their spirit let them know that they're loved and god we thank you now for all that you've done all that you're doing and all you're going to do and god we give praise and thanks to your name our rally uh on our state of the district report on tuesday we let you know that we were gonna be under two million dollars on by saturday well we did our part and for some reason another the banker didn't want to work with us but they told us it would be monday so i stand to let you know that come monday our mortgage loan will be under 2 million dollars [Applause] also another one of our loans that we have we will be paying it off as well [Applause] so if you give we can pay off stuff if you don't give we can't pay it off and so thank you for your giving uh that you've given to us and if you give us about five out of five minutes we're gonna ask brother dre waters if he's inside brother dre waters we're gonna give him five minutes to make a presentation we don't want to hold you alone and then we're gonna and then we're gonna take our seed offering and we don't want you to leave out he's coming praise the lord give yourselves a hand happiness being awesome to god be all the glory i'd like to thank bishop devin piggy for giving this opportunity to speak and reference to what we have here reference to the technology some of you guys are probably being wondering what these are and by the way i'm andrea drew waters i'm pastor thelma water son and deacon brady waters out of cooper's champion at holidays church down in clinton north carolina or clinton for some of you all right now can we say order i believe in doing things in order period so first thing i did i started at home i got this technology and i gave it to my moms and my pops and this is nasa-based technology it's been certified in fda certified labs military grade and cdc labs dr deborah birch came on with us back in march we've been blessing and opening up a lot of schools a lot of churches and allowing them to be able to function with these viruses can we say order you got to do things in order so i went there and then i went down to clinton district union where the pastor anthony flo was hosting in district of dr l demarcy there as well and we had the technology there during the clinton district union so because i didn't feel i took it down there the first night that friday night and then i left it because i didn't feel good taking it with me and then something was to happen that would that blood would have been required on my hands can we say order so i didn't stop there so i believe in flowing by the holy spirit period so monday i think it was or sunday i went to visit my mother and pop down in clinton north carolina and that monday moms got up and i was like mom are you headed she said i'm heading to the convocation the southern district convocation and the holy spirit said move so i did what exactly then obedient to the holy spirit so when i got here the holy spirit told me the next night as i was seeing what was going on i'm very grateful for dr devin pickett and doctor and excuse me he's an only big doctor right devin pig prophesizing here and dr chris brown for their leadership let's give it up for him i've seen both of these gentlemen over the years i travel i do a lot of business all over the country and i'm international at times as well and i've seen them throughout the years being very committed to the southern district convocations and their various churches in their districts as well so it's well deserved so where they stand and where they sit and i thank god for order can we say order and i've seen order here to god be all the glory so it's monday night i don't know about 12 30 1 o'clock it was in the midnight hour well the holy spirit said you're going to bless then gift the southern district convocation you're going to start with the leadership and that's exactly what i did anyone got a calculator i want somebody with a calculator in their hands because we're talking about giving we're talking about what giving i believe in giving so the holy spirit i told those of these gentlemen here that the holy spirit told me to give them these right here which is 129 and it's 145 to get it to your door say give both of them one but we didn't stop there the state-of-the-art air surface pro that you've seen out there that covers 2 000 square foot that's sitting right here in the pool pit he said give them those as well you still got your calculators now god gets all the glory now i don't get any glory here let's overstand that now those are 14.99 and there's about sixteen hundred dollars given to your door so i gifted both of these gentlemen one for their families because you gotta protect your leadership it's one thing to say you believe in your leadership it's another thing to put it into action so i believe in action can you say order so from there with these two gentlemen here i dedicated one to the love temple as well so we're talking three times 1600 right y'all still doing the math it's about giving and not just talking about it and bishop harry cohen he stopped through the table i think it was on friday saturday night and he's an entrepreneur and two i appreciate the dedication of this one to bishop raphael can you get up a bishop raph love and bishop ralph love was an entrepreneur can we say entrepreneur i was talking to [Music] bishop ravlov jr a few moments ago and i said how long was bishop ralph love in business he said at least 40 some years we need more business owners and entrepreneurs period so we can help move the needle forward and i thank god for bishop devon he's a business owner he's an entrepreneur he cut hair for years his own business everybody understand what i'm saying now before i close our help is vitally important if you don't have your help you don't have no will i have six children and 10 grandchildren my oldest is 33 years young and i'm 25. you all got that now i've been in wellness 30 plus years my mother passed a thermal waters walks about every other day four and a half miles on the track and she'd be 73 i believe december the 5th so we got to get our health in order family you need to know your blood types and you should be eating according to your blood types can we say order we got to take care of our temples diabetes is the number one kill in the african-american community guys so we got to take care of our health the anointing that's on our lives the power of god the gifts we got to pass that on so i'm back here at this table here i have i don't have any more of these left but they're on the way and they left in there and i'm doing them for 100 instead of 145. in the larger units that's right here instead of the 1600 i'm doing it for 1200 for the southern district convocation because i believe in order and if you guys can do me one favor as i close out if you can repeat after me as long as i know god knows god knows that's more appreciation for our presiding prelate bishop devon c pickett senior our vice president and first assistant to the bishop dr christopher brown our liaison bishops bishop ernest mcgee and bishop russell rogers we thank them for their sacrificial work outstanding leadership concern wisdom and dedication to make this southern district holy convocation a great success to the most reverend harrielle cohen your oversight and support does not go unnoticed we are so appreciative for you to represent the united holy church of america to our beautiful beautiful elect ladies elder sharon pickett elder diana brown i want you to know that we honor you for your devotion to god and to your husbands thank you for not only shining bright like diamonds but for embracing god's designs for your lives what an amazing sight to witness the powerful hand of god as our elect lady elders stood dignified dutifully and powerfully delivered the word of god in here this week we are so privileged that god chose you for such a time as this on behalf of our leaders we want to extend appreciation to bishop russell rogers and the board of elders for your untiring work to dr joseph williams and the board of presbytery thank you for your care and concern of god's chosen vessels to bishop mcgee and the home and foreign mission department thank you for your many selfless acts and your concern for the church and the community to dr dwight morrissey and the united christian college staff elder tyrone owens my pastor the bible church school elder joseph barnes and the ypha we thank you for educating us and for covering our young people to deacon michael stevens and the usher department thank you for your outstanding service to the elegantly beautiful miss byu thank you for representing us so well to the sunrise prayer warriors led by elder jenkins and elder walker you have covered the leaders the convocation and every person connected to it thank you for your early rise to daily labor for god in prayer to pastor darden and the financial team you encouraged us to give cheerfully using even the unconventional methods to the program committee what a dynamic quorum of preachers delivering the unadulterated spoken word of god and to the exception of product presiders job well done to our executive staff dr timothy morris sister nan holland sister mary herring sister diane kirby brother rogers sister corbett we thank you because you left no stone unturned to ensure a smooth running convocation to the adjutants thank you for your faithfulness to our mother and father of the district we salute you for your greatness to the devotional team we appreciate you for leading us into praise and worship admonishing us to give adoration to the one who created us all to this sdc ensemble this ensemble of singers what an amazing job you've done as you um sung to us under the leadership of our holy musical geniuses elder danny lewis and dr ron bigelow and the anointed team of musicians thank you so much for singing the songs of zion and leading us in a heavenly rehearsal because we rehearsed for heaven in here this morning and all week we celebrate you as you've helped us during this convocation to the media department photographers sound technicians thank you for capturing all these memorable moments while we weren't able to open the doors to full capacity didn't look like that this morning though you enabled us to still be able to virtually share the gospel not only in goldsboro north carolina but across the entire world to every department pastor district elder minister spouse deacon member visitor and friend of the southern district convocation we are so grateful for your participation and we say to god be all the glory for what we've experienced here this week and as i close this has been a difficult time and a year of transition as we never have had to navigate the dualities of grief and relief yet we are so grateful for the opportunity that you took the time to honor our late presiding prelate bishop wrath edward love senior we know he loved this great district and he worked tirelessly until his transition from earth to glory he often reminded us that there is no place like this place nowhere near this place and we can attest to the accuracy of this statement as we have spent eight days of heaven on earth god has already promised us he is greater than anything we have we will face he told us in his word that we would have some tribulation but be of good cheer we have he has already overcome the world so we too must continue to press forward whereas we are elated that all combined work and dedication and service contributed immensely to the grand 127th southern district holy convocation therefore on behalf of our presiding prelate bishop devon c pickett senior our first assistant to the bishop dr christopher brown our liaison bishops elect ladies spouses administration and the entire southern district convocation let it be resolved it is hereby resolved that this 127th convocation which concludes today offers and extends the sincerest and most profound gratitude to everyone here and though we are now challenged to embrace a new normal if you are determined that despite all the difficulties that you would support this administration i know you're tired but why don't you stand to your feet and let them know we support you and we appreciate our leadership to god be the glory let us give a standing ovation to our leadership that our preserving prelate bishop devon c pickett our first assistant dr christopher brown our liaison bishops and to each and every one of you to god be all the glory thank you and god bless you all [Music] our friend has people to come and we want to sow a seed of twenty dollars to you blessed us not only spiritual but you blessed us financially and lord we say thank you now as we come to the close of our convocation we pray god that you will be with us as we travel back to our various destinations give us safes travel back and we shall forever praise thy name now unto him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the brother of his glory with
