let's not put it off any longer it is time to be the very best like no one ever was it's Pokemon let's go without a kit take it away alright welcome everyone so I've already got Eevee loaded up which game did win Eevee or Pikachu oh yeah why wouldn't you know - got pushed off my screen give me a second no problem so I was about to drop 1k for Pikachu right now yeah right all right it is Eevee started all right you guys chose well how dare you yeah Evie's the better version for sure hard this degree all right same time wait one second all right I'm doing Eevee all right how we got on timer all right three two one go all right so this is Pokemon let's go Eevee this uh this came out in November and it's already had a ton of different like reroutes and all that kind of stuff that we'll talk about a lot throughout the run but this run is a quite a different speedrun than like a normal traditional pokemon run and I'm going to do the rival name and the trainer name so I believe it is Eve Erwin let's go Steve okay and everyone's favorite from the crystal run is the rival name we're talking about me right oh yeah it's definitely keys Iran totally didn't you get forth I did get forth in the thing yeah do you guys know what to do eat your heart out read it all right so we're gonna get started Steve Irwin my girl ain't that judgin no not at all let's go alright so we're gonna jump in here this is a remake of pokemon yellow you guys chose Eevee so our starter will be Eevee and our rival do will have a Pikachu what a novel concept right TV and you're getting a V I know mind blown it almost feels like you're playing as the rival in this exactly that's why it's really cool one ruining his life always one step ahead alright so we're gonna set our options here typical you know Pokemon options we're gonna do fast text we're going to make our battle style set and we're going to turn animations off animations are very slow in this game we also finally have the option of Pokemon games to skip cutscenes yeah because that helps hey there's five there are exactly five cutscenes that we can skip so just like every other Pokemon game we're going to hopefully get a good starter um I do have two backups they oh I have a backup save for Eevee if the starter we get is not good normally I would just sort of sit here save before this and do a reset but the the resets for the starter are actually very long they're like two and a half minutes because you have to save before this cutscene and you can't actually check your stats until almost like 90 seconds later war tab has something to say about long starter resets yeah 15 minutes for Sun and Moon oh yeah it's crazy yeah this is this is sort of like a middle ground in terms of the Pokemon resets for starters and you're also gonna get to see the first example of a new mechanic in this game motion controls great great yeah every every good game needs motion controls the the motion controls are a bit finicky but once you once you get really good at them they're pretty consistent so hopefully we don't have too many like miss Drozd or breakouts or anything like that the nice thing when you're using the joy cons is that the ball throws kind of Auto Center a bit so it's a little bit easier to aim at a lot with these pokemon that don't move very much yeah you'll see that a lot and sometimes that can really mess you up like sometimes Pokemon as we're going through the run we're gonna be catching a lot of Pokemon if you don't know anything about the game and the Pokemon can be on middle of the screen they can be on the sides they can be like halfway to the side of the screen and sometimes the the throw is gonna autocorrect to a spot where you you don't want it to go but the game really wants it to go [Music] all right so we're gonna go ahead and grab our starter it happens to be the one that's jumping around for some reasons it's excited to see you and that's our first cutscene skip of the run that was really hard tech we should probably clap for that there we go all right I'm gonna I'm gonna not nickname it right here and I'm going to check it stats real quick and one of the nice things about this game is that actually unless you just change the name of the Pokemon right from your Pokemon menu also don't ask what's of the third ball because no one knows brave is Hawaiian yeah brave is fine so what is the e starter name sorry should've giving you a little heads up no worries I've got a name for you and that name is okay just do this alright cool yeah that's gonna be a thing isn't it it never ends I remember back in 2015 when John Cena was the name of two of the catch em all in second it just won't end it won't back-to-back and send them we got our good friends Steve Irwin do and John Cena an unlikely friendship doesn't necessary one neighbor ambitious / awesome alright so if you've seen a Gen 1 speedrun you know what we're doing we're gonna go up to Viridian City we're going to get Oaks parcel we're going to come back and then we're gonna fight our rival they actually reverse it so we get the Pokedex now and we're gonna fight our rival later when normally we would fight our rival leaving and then we would get the Pokedex later the one of the big things in this game because it's so tied into Pokemon go is all the catching like they really want to emphasize catching and you're gonna see that in this run there's actually a requirement later on that we have to catch a ton of Pokemon so holy bells too proud yeah yeah you're more used a traditional Pokemon game you may be a little bit confused by the Pokemon in the overworld that's actually how all the encounters appear in this game so he's just really good at manipulating game yeah I wish I got to do that so you won't actually get encounters in the grass but if you run into one of those you'll get in the battle with them we will still get repels a bit later which you might think we might not need them because of that but later on in the game like in Victory Road there's a lot of little tight areas where if there's a pokemon there it's really really bad so we're gonna grab a few especially because their sizes vary quite a bit mm yeah and fast travel is a really good feature okay yeah that that had me like have some hopes for speedrunning I'm like oh man there's the quality of life changes and it's like oh but you got a catch 50 ha ha yes I guess we can talk about that now so one of the things they added like a little gimmick to this game is every gym has some sort of requirement to enter like the real controversial one when it was first released was the first gym in order to get into Brock's gym you need to have a water-type pokemon or a grass type Pokemon fun fact you can't catch a water type Pokemon before that point so you really have like a choice of two Pokemon that you can that you can use to satisfy that requirement and then there are a bunch of other requirements in order to get into Misty's gym you need a level 15 Pokemon and the big one that the speedrun is really built around is in order to get into kogas gym which is normally the fifth gym you need to have 50 unique Pokemon registered in your pokedex and that's gonna lead to some really cool strategies throughout the run because I think it's gonna have to track his 50 Pokemon and plan it out really well so that'd be really cool to see how he does that yeah they actually every weighted experience quite a bit in this game too so a lot of your experience comes from catches moreso than fights so it's not your really important that we get good catches and get a lot of experience from that yeah you may know this me threw the ball at Evie earlier it said great I your throws vary so you can get like a good throw a great throw or an excellent throw and they give bonus XP based off of which throw you get so I think it's to be aiming for excellence on pretty much all those catches and there's also like some hidden multipliers too like first ball bonus using the Troy cons using the icons you actually get an experience boost if you're using two controllers and you also have like better catch rates as well which two controllers is actually something that used to be a separate category but then we as a community got smart in real that was silly so you're actually gonna see him whip out the second controller every now and again that's gonna be pretty cool you also get to see that in battles too yeah the second controller is really cool see like they said you can do two controller catches gives you more experience it actually increases the catch rate as well so some places we're gonna use it more for the experience side and sometimes we're gonna use it to increase our catch rate especially a little bit later on in the run and then in fights you can actually do two on one battles it's completely broken like if I had a second pokemon I could do Evie and Bellsprout for example against this Rattata and make the kid just cry and go home to his mom so we're actually going to do that not as much as you might think because it actually is fairly slow there's like a whole animation where the trainer pops into the overworld pops out of the overworld you have to actually select a move as that person and it's a whole thing yeah so I found her to catch with the second controller and they let started a battle with it so you'll see it for a lot of catches but yeah generally the fights we do two controller four is actually for safety reasons and having a little bit of consistency yeah there's like I think one or so there's like six seven or eight fights something like that that we use it on only like two of them are actually truly faster a bit that's course I just got blasted by Rattata yeah I'm really one of you yeah so I'm going to catch this mostly just because it ran into me normally we want to catch pokemon that are like within one level of evolving or at least a couple of levels that way we can get essentially two pokemon for only catching one of them in some cases like if we catch a page really late we can get three pokemon for the price of one in this case the Rattata just ran to me so I can catch a radical later it's not a big deal yeah if you were to level this up it the bulbs at level 20 and I think they came at level 3 so it takes 17 whole levels to evolve and a little animation every time and you learn some moves so it'd be way too slow first mistake of the run we're already off to a good start it can be pretty hard to see the Pokemon in the grass so sometimes it just happens you hit them took you longer to mess up in me that's very generous but have you taught them how to count yet I have not okay I'll count to fifty together heck yet so we're at - yeah you right now if you guys can somehow keep track of the number of Pokemon as we go you are more than welcome to shout out the amount of Pokemon we have now something that we did just see before this battle loaded is we saw a red glow around one of the Pokemon I don't know what you talk when it was because we know it isn't wheedle ooh your waves more observant than I am but um so that glow actually indicates sighs so there's blue and red red being the large and blue being the small there's actually another thing that isn't identifiable until after you catch it for like extra large and extra small and all of those gave different bonus experience multipliers so you're gonna see etiquette try to go for some glowing Pokemon here just so he can get proper experience so you can be ready for Brock yeah and also to like help evolve some other things because Viridian Forest it does have bugs and bug Pokemon tend to evolve really really early so it's just a really good catch overall he's also not catching anything quite yet because we are about to pick up a lure which is an item it's basically the reverse of repel it's what its gonna do is it's gonna increase the number of Pokemon that get spawned and every Pokemon that gets spawned after you use it is one level higher than the maximum range would normally be so those Pokemon are gonna give us a lot higher experience yield than anything else in here yeah we're gonna use that especially like here in the forest is a great great example so everything normally spawns between oh I just ran into that Pikachu by oh that's actually really good though yeah I'm going to do a two controller catch for this yeah you choose one of the best but in this poke one you can get here because it's very easy to evolve you just slap a thunder stand on it and it's basically to poke one with that yes so generally how the catch routing usually works is that we have a set number of Pokemon that are we plan to get every single time there's around thirty five probably of those and then everything else is kind of wiggle room and we kind of just play off of what we get nice hey you encouraged them you should have known after being part of my run you can also know this right there how much experience that catch gave especially compared to the battle experience I think you got two levels on the Eevee from that yeah two levels on the Eevee and you'll notice I also got two levels on the Rattata and you saw how slow that is so imagine me actually evolving this at level 20 you know just be crazy but yeah so everything here spawns between level 3 and level 6 once we use the lure everything will be at level 7 the bugs evolve at level 7 and then level 10 so you can sort of see we would you know potentially catch a level 3 bug or we can catch a level 7 bug you one level away from evolving and get a ton more experience especially if it's a bigger spawn size so we're actually specifically trying to hit level 10 in these caches Eevee learns double kick at level 10 and that's gonna be really important for facing Brock in not too long here so also really nice how many pokeballs they give you you just get an insane about the pokeballs in this game yeah you start with 50 pokeballs and trainers give you pokeballs I like you guys trainers give you pokeballs they give you great balls later on and ultra balls and we're really gonna be taking advantage of that throughout the run we're actually gonna sell all of our poké balls which might be counterintuitive but we're gonna buy great balls with it later on so I'm looking for a Weedle you might think that there are two wheels that are right there but I'm going to ignore those on purpose they spawned before the lure which means they're actually a lower level it's that Brock Jim requirement yep something else be sure probably in the mentioned the Eevee actually has boosted stats from a normal Eevee I'm not exactly sure with the base stats are but they're much higher than like a normal Eevee would be so it's actually a pretty good fighter it's around the 75 to 65 based at range for all its stats it's kind of an all-rounder it also has a maximum of 31 IPS in every single stat like normally it's a stat that has a 0 to 31 range that determines you know how many extra points you get in the stat but the EEV just has perfect IVs so it's one less thing we have to reset over yeah when resetting we're really just looking at the nature so you'll notice like I looked at the nature so nature's in Pokemon basically there's each nature will boost once that and hinder another stat so like I'm brave nature right now so it will be plus attack - speed I was waiting for it when we're doing runs at home I would actually reset - attack - special attack and - speed I have - speed here but because I have plus attack I figured it's it's worth it I did set up a backup save which was a naughty nature I did not try for it just sort of happened Nadia's + attack - special defense probably the best nature for the Eevee yes can't confirm you got to back the back naughty nature Pokemon in a row setting up yeah also don't tell them about the fact that we cheated for it though oops so there's actually another new stat they introduced in let's go they actually removed effort values and they replaced them with awakening values which are kind of another thing is tied into left or go you have these candies that you can use to increase two pokemons individual stats or if it's a specific Pokemon candy you can use it to increase all their stats all the stats can have an awakening value up to 200 and you can do that for every stat you do get one random Av every single level but you also have a characteristic that's listed under your nature that kind of determines how weighted in a certain stat those ABS are going to be yeah so my characteristic was likes to thrash about which is the attack weighted characteristics so I'm not only plus attack I also going to be getting more attack Ivy's as the run goes on the TV is gonna be unstoppable you say that it don't leave us a bit faster yeah an enemy trainers actually have a vs in a certain key points - this is actually the only Pokemon that you'll see in the run that has anything outside of HP I believe it has HP defense and special defense a V's the B feature will try to get you there it really did see how this came out she does a really good job of balancing you know important trainers have extra abs and their HP so that you know if you use a super effective ice move on a dragon it-it's not just gonna go down super easily yeah yeah like all the Elite Four have 30 IV across-the-board useful nature's like like Dragonite for example in the elite 4 has a careful nature so it's boosted special defense and they all have like 24 AVS I think it is in HP so they're super bulky yeah give it your best Steve Irwin thanks do what's kinda what's kind of still is you can actually use like a ridiculous amount of candies at any point if we were to get them so you could actually have a level 3 metal pods with 200 base that's before broke if you grind it long enough yeah early early versions of the route actually did have a couple dump points where you would send a Pokemon in your box to Oak get candies for it and then dump them into Eevee but we've since routed all that out yes so here's the requirement we need to show in the Bellsprout the only Pokemon that we actually satisfy that requirement that will appear naturally in the game our Bellsprout and Bulbasaur Bulbasaur is what's considered a secret encounter so it's an encounter that doesn't actually appear in the Pokedex when you go to the Pokedex you can sort of see with every Pokemon okay where does it spawn in the wild it won't actually show you that Bulbasaur appears in Viridian Forest it's kind of like Chansey Chansey appears pretty much on every route in the game it's crazy and so those are really the only two Pokemon that satisfy that requirement it allows you to show them a grass water type but it's just no water type available you'd have to trade with somebody in order to get a water type before this point so this is actually the first example of where the two games are really gonna differ so in Pikachu getting to level 10 is way less important Pikachu learns double kick at level 9 but more importantly Pikachu's grass type fest spawns is an oddish oddish has absorbed and absorbed as a special move rather than a physical move so absorb can actually one shot that Geodude and in some cases can one shot the Onix usually you have to also damage it a little bit with the Pikachu but it's really not that bad I think yeah what we would do on Pikachu is scented the second controller and then have oddish beside us and then just kind of do nothing with Pikachu all the auto she takes care of everything so there's Brock down [Applause] Hale splat would you like to hold my favorite Pokemon for a while shiny Lupin II yeah I love shiny opening that's definitely what that is as absolutely what that is so a lot of people when they started up the game they were very confused they were like why does blue look different because they saw the rivalin were instant like that's blue no this is blue and he's actually going to be showing up a lot throughout the run he helps us out in a couple cases we have to he helps us by fighting us at one point like he's like I'm gonna test your strength it's like re thanks we have to go stop Team Rocket but yeah with my Pokemon we're not in a hurry at all yeah so we're gonna do our first shopping trip of the run like I said we're gonna sell all of our pokeballs and buy some great balls this was like revolutionary when we decided to do this it was we were struggling so hard with pokeballs but now we're doing just fine I should do one more I remember we used to actually talk to that lady next to the museum - she has a slowpoke next to her and you babysit the slowpoke for like 45 seconds she's like there's a pearl yeah it was for like 4 grand so it gets a lot of the pokeballs and you smell it yeah but now we just sell the the pokeballs and the raspberries so we didn't talk about berries at all there's a bunch of different berries in the run or in the game they're taken straight from Pokemon go so you saw me use a raspberry already that increases the catch rate of the Pokemon and there's also Nana berries that we'll use in the run and those will stop Pokemon from like moving and attacking on the screen they're literally pink bananas they are pink there's also like pineapples which are pineapples so I don't know why's pineap-- hops but those those aren't really useful in this speedrun all they really do is give you more items or like better items from the caches yeah I think it's pineap-- because in ghent 3 they ran out of this ace is they can only have 11 characters whoa is that what it's like to dodge spitters really crap yeah spinners in this game are if you hit a spinner it's entirely your fault so if I hit a spinner I'm gonna be really sad this is the biggest bait in the world right here yeah that trainers just looking up he's like if you jump the way you hit him no matter what it's really funny so we're gonna go here and get the I was gonna say free Magikarp it actually cost us money free in the sense this really fast and I just grabbed it yeah and the game makes fun of you it's like you just paid an outrageous $500 oh [Music] yeah we're supposed to count surprise they remembered I know I'm like hey that right didn't you get a shiny Magikarp once yeah I was like we weren't it was like after a race we did or something and yeah I used to buy a shiny magic oh okay that's not that range is $500 as a seal one of the only two Chinese I've seen doing rounds of this game I've seen so many like this game because all of the encounters are in the overworld you see way more Pokemon than you would in a normal run like think about pokemon red for example you're gonna see maybe three wild encounters with all the minutes and everything in this game you just see so many more Pokemon because you have to catch a bunch and there's the whole you know just the fact that they're in the overworld so it's a very likely chance at least compared to other Pokemon runs that we see a shiny I've seen probably like 10 doing runs we've also probably mentioned he's allowed to just use the PC the deposit or throw a Pokemon whenever he wants that's what you see when he's getting rid of like his party Pokemon it's actually really good in this game that you're able to do that because normally in the Pokemon game you have to go to a Pokemon Center walk up to the PC change both fun around but since he's catching so many it's really useful in this game to do it whenever he wants it is important to note that that doesn't heal your Pokemon like putting Pokemon in and out of the box does in older games just because that would be completely broke oh yeah yeah middle of the leaf or just swap your team around yeah you also notice that I taught headbutt so Brock's p.m. is head but for some reason like he doesn't he doesn't give us a rock throw or something that would actually make sense for a rock-type gym leader he gives us headbutt and headbutt is a pretty powerful move on its own but it's also a normal-type move Eevee's a normal-type pokémon so it gets what's called the same type attack bonus or stab and stab basically gives every move that you use a 1.5 times multiplier so instead of being a 70 power move it's like a hundred and five power it's pretty crazy and pretty broken especially this early in the run it also causes flinches which is just really useful there's a Paris he's gonna give for that probably not the zoo but no Zubat will catch later that way we can evolve it but Paris this is the only place Paris spawns and it's at a low enough level that we're not gonna try to evolve it or anything but it's just a nice Pokemon to get when it's not jumping around does a great ball in the pokeball that's just the save a bit of money so it just takes the highest tiered ball and uses that for the value yeah like you notice that I sold all my pokeballs and I somehow have pokeballs now that's because the trainer that we just fought gives us three pokeballs so we're able to like nine times out of ten I catch three Pokemon here and I just got three pokeballs so it's like perfect it's almost like they planned it for us now something that no in terms of routing is in a normal run we wouldn't normally go in this room we'd actually skip it but for the sake of marathon safety and whatnot it gets going here to get an extra moonstone and that actually moonstone is gonna help ensure that we get to the fifty also remember when you were like hey I wonder if I'm gonna be able to keep count of how many Pokemon oh yeah when we do runs at home we have like a Pokemon tracker and we like mark things off and I'll typically start with 50 Pokemon marked and then I'll adjust that as I go throughout the run but for for this purpose I didn't want to be like staring at a laptop screen the entire time though I feel attacked I feel attacked it's very unprofessional how dare you alright he's been the stalling here to see if a cliff area spawns or anything else useful yeah I'm gonna reload the room so reloading the room does a couple of things it will usually cause way more Pokemon to spawn and it will also de-spawn everything that was there so wow wow that's some for classic mount moon right okay yes Oh for the people it's so big for the people yes the Onyx is particularly awful partially because I always go over it Wow where the throws kind of Auto Center a little bit and onyx is like way up here and it really just doesn't know how to auto center correctly yeah he ate the balls yeah I mix is very hard to catch so you wouldn't normally see someone go for it oh that's just there one more time that doesn't guarantee anything by the way it's just nice get more XP that's pretty much it yeah it is slightly more likely to catch going to ride it for the people that's the real question idly Onix just for a couple floors you got to do it you guys don't know how bad this is gonna be it's all areas yeah you can ride poke one in this game and usually they give you a small movement boost and they can be pretty comical you know Onix does not give you such a boost but it's an experience but yeah like on that note later on when we're in Rock Tunnel we're gonna look for a Rhyhorn because Rhyhorn does boost your mood then eventually we will catch a bonito candy at - rapa - and rapidash is gonna be the fastest thing that we have to travel with which speaking of rapidash there is still the donation incentive for its nicknames and be sure to get those donations and somehow that's like the most hotly-contested one of the bunch like yeah rapidash gens d'Armes oh here comes the Onix alright we're gonna leave this floor and we're gonna just casually go throughout this little air it's so big it doesn't even fit man Oh God this is something imagine seeing this just strolling in and your support train is just like yes especially really nice put your on mount pokémon your hip box as far as spinners are concerned is not the entire Pokemon that you're on it's basically just where your trainer is yeah honest thing that you like onyx is actually it looks really hard to dodge but it's its tail's tip hip box is just empty like I didn't walk through its tail and doesn't actually hit the Pokemon yeah you're basically just a big cylinder pretty much all right cool I'm gonna get rid of onyx I'm sorry yeah now there's all of his boo this man no fun allowed what is the honest half removes can I use it for the double fight it might have wrong right I'm going to be unprofessional and look at its moves every rock has Rock they're so good Navy is to always teach it headbutt I'd like to point out that while I'm being unprofessional we have a professional cameraman taking I can see the tag line now keys driving unprofessional again and fired yes so usually at this point since this poke one it just evolved he's gonna do a bunch of that menuing it's better to wait until you have multiple things to do at the same time so he doesn't need to get any more levels on the be drill or the Paris or the onyx but he can get rid of them bless Wi-Fi on how did I find that moonstone oh my god oh very perfect alright I didn't even think the other were active right now no wow that's pretty rare though why is onyx so stupid we got a ninety five dollar donation for onyx [Laughter] number eight so that is it what just happened there but there's actually an interesting glitch that can happen if a Pokemon spawns as you're entering a cutscene trigger so there's an all my marathon run that I did on let's go Evie that going into the Jessi cutscene and mount moon at Clefairy spawned and the Clefairy just didn't have a hitbox so I'm like running around here trying to get this go fairy that I just can't interact with I remember that it has rock throw oh he just decided not to t-shirt okay has rock throw yeah has hardened bind rock throw and stealth rock oh wait no no it doesn't have harden name wear has rage alright yeah man I learned something today I'm gonna deposit it I'm so through all that effort the hotel Wi-Fi Boop and you made me go your poor ankles Oh another Clefairy whoa Onix is so far off the catcher out that I'm gonna have to actually like remember that I caught one yeah I hope you read into one and Rock tunnels like phonics do you just treat those your rabbit Kate because you've got there I was gonna use it as my Clefairy and then I got Clefairy yep I also yet again didn't evolve the Clefairy like I was supposed to do nice that's a range and when you got muscle-bound Eevee here plus the tap characteristic wave crashing yeah his name is John Cena yeah yeah his name is John Cena which that song was on my mind I have a problem your hands are bruised the Everest pin that's when you know I gave him a really light high-five before this run started like real all right so we're just going through the rest of the mountain here there's gonna be a cool little double fight at the end but I think now it's probably a decent time for donations if there are some oh yeah there are we have fifty dollars from Jay witzy Thank You gdq for helping a stressed teacher relax whilst marking a so it can spawn on exactly one route that we go to but it's super rare and even if it does show up it's kind of hard to catch it's like onyx but you can't write it so it's just not even worth it for a meme [Laughter] [Music] paint a cada dia de Nations and the FIR onyx yeah can we open a $10,000 yeah offensive right now yeah bring all expect 10 gay so there's actually another experienced threshold that's kind of nice to hit leaving mount movin that it looks like we might get either close to or hit we should hit it yet which allows us to do misty before we do the Nugget bridge segment which saves like around 15-20 seconds probably it's just basically saving on movement but because Misty's gym requires us to be level 15 if we aren't 15 yet we kind of have to go up and do no gate bridge and then come back down but also after this fight we get to pick a fossil what fossil do you guys wanting to pick dome or helix I heard helix oh go dome alright I think she looks is the one on the right side right yes yeah I'll make sure I grab it it doesn't matter which one we grab in the normal speed run so I'm just gonna I'll go with the fans and grab the one that they all want or or you can listen to me and not get banned from the community look what happened this team is he's thinking about picking up the helix fossile he hit himself and confused that's what you get alright so on a serious note before we changed the route we actually used to get the dome fossil because we would actually use Kabutops as our main toward the end I have 40 attack holy moly I don't even know all so I'm grabbing the dome [ __ ] since hey it's a letter faster guys it's true saving one frame so in in like genuine Pokemon actually saving characters is important because it's like one character per frame so like a name that's eight characters long you saved seven frames you almost save like a tenth of a second in this game it's like eight characters per frame so one character doesn't do anything so I just did that to make you guys mad I also think this is the first actual double battle and you'll notice he's using an X attack you can use X items on one Pokemon with your other Pokemon so you can boost them they're like crazy levels that way do X items are so broken in this game so the way X items work previous the gen7 is when you use an X item it increases your attack or whatever X item you used by one stage nice menuing by one stage and they cost money obviously so like it's 500 dollars or whatever fer next attack in gen 7 they changed it and they made it so X items actually boost by two stages but they increase the price dramatically like X attacks were $1000 X defends are like $2,000 in this game they sort of messed up I think and they are still plus two stages and they cost $500 yeah they retain their original prices from the region yeah there's two purposes in this game all right I'm going to pick up a couple items here on this route there's a PP up up here that sells for a decent chunk of money I picked up a nugget earlier which sells for $5,000 this PP up sells for $5,000 I'm also gonna grab a couple extra great balls cuz you guys bullied me into onyx it was worth it [Music] all right and so now you get to see basically the reason why Eevee is faster so yeah we didn't actually talk about that Eevee is the faster version for the first time ever in Pokemon we actually have the two versions split up on the leader board so there's a leaderboard for Eevee there's a leaderboard for Pikachu you're welcome yes they're like about 90 seconds apart the actual records are only about like 15 seconds apart but the Pikachu record is a better quality run than the Eevee record is and these moves here are really one of the reasons why Eevee is faster so these moves have some great names we got bouncy bubble buzzy buzz and Cicely slide before we go if we wait oh so buzzy buzz does an electric-type move that always paralyzes it's 90 based power and always paralyzes Sicilies slide is a 90 power fire move that always burns and bouncy bubble is a 90 power water move that is absorbed so it will take half of the HP that it deals in damage and give it to Eevee back in health so they're completely broken moves and that's really why Eevee is so powerful Pikachu does get a broken move there as well it gets zippy zap which is a plus 2 priority move that always critical hits but that's really it and it's the same type as Pikachu so there's really no coverage there at all yeah so Eevee throughout the course of the game gets a choice of seven different unique moves to it one for each of its types of its evolutions that's another thing to note too is these starters to don't and can't evolve yeah Pikachu only gets three and its moves later the secondary effects of them are a lot more a lot closer than TVs even yeah like I think it gets a move called floaty fall which is a fine one turn fly but it can flinch yeah and it also gets um I don't even know what like / it's it's like surf but it can paralyze yeah that's what it is and it's not even guaranteed like buzzy buzzer pillow like a thirty percent I think and what just happened right there is actually an interesting thing to point out so whenever you get status sometimes the game just takes a while to think about what's going on which is why he's kind of stuck on that trainer animation for a little bit I'm an insulting with status Ament deposit the Butterfree here and I'm also going to save the game this fight isn't terribly dangerous but better play safe than sorry then we save screen looks like yeah I don't think I've ever actually saved them escape it's actually pretty quick to save it's really slow to reload from one that's into the issue with it yeah yeah there's no like soft reset you have to go back to the the main switch home screen and load the game back up and there's the whole cutscene and it's just the whole thing yeah conveniently we get that electric type move that always paralyzes right before fighting misty starmie is faster than us so we're actually gonna use turn 1 to paralyze it and that way we'll be faster than it turned to it has scald inside waves called is a water type move that can it's like 30% I think to burn and we're actually going to be using a star me later on and we're going to teach skalds to it luckily we didn't get burned and now we're faster than the star me we get to watch it see staticy yeah and then we're good just staring at us and Bettis tingly so that's two badges down yeah you're really only scared of a critical there which is one in sixteen so is that one than 24 in this game one in 24 again seven yeah okay so slightly less likely than before crits also only deal at 50% extra damage on like times two and the other games yeah hey crowd you still with us right how many Pokemon are we at all right awesome just say you they probably just saw it no I see its test it was very fast so we have to badge is pretty quickly into the game I hope you're ready to not see any fur yeah funny enough so if you guys know the Kanto region you've got you know Brock misty surge Erica Koga Sabrina Blaine and Giovanni our next gym is going to be blame like the seventh gym leader and then it's gonna be in like an hour and a half this game did something really cool where they basically after this point it really opens up like in Gen 1 and Gen 3 the remakes there's the hm so like cut and surf and fly and all those are behind badge requirements so in order to use fly for example you need to be surged in order to use surfy to be Koga in this game there's no such requirement the HMS are replaced with what are called secret techniques and those secret techniques just have no requirement behind them so we're pretty easily just gonna be able to do everything in the game beautiful this is one like one of the two fights that being - speed matters for yeah this that Pikachu still have the crazy 120 base be though no they're actually your rivals is normal for some reason that's yeah very weird yeah the Pikachu starter has a hundred twenty base speed for whatever reason it's insanely fast and for some reason his Pikachu doesn't have double kick at this point but it does on the SS han later that's really weird - yeah double kick hurts yeah yeah really just the nerf it so it wasn't too overpowered against you yeah so I have a I have a belief that this game was actually made as let's go easy and then they tacked on Pikachu purely because of this so the the three moves that we got we got a fire-type move a water-type move and an electric-type moves the first three trainers on this just get destroyed by those three moves like here's a Venter net that dies the sizzly slide next up is a psychic that dies too bouncy above or too buzzy buzz and then there's ass and true that dies the bouncy bubble like it's perfectly set up for Eevee and Pikachu's just over here like I can go first sometimes yeah the issue with Pikachu is you don't really get any coverage for ground-type pokémon because you're an electric pokemon so you just kind up the head but everything and it's kind of slow yeah a lot of the gap between the two versions actually was closed quite a bit when we allowed two controllers for any percent but yeah a lot of the Pikachu wrote you had to keep oddish in your party until like Rock Tunnel actually was told game corner and you had to let that auto show volve into gloom and basically have that gloom take care of every ground type for you because Pikachu just could not yeah and the other thing is like in Pikachu does this too but every special move that we get for the Eevee we actually use the secondary effect or something so a good example we use the paralysis on buzzy buzz in order to house to be the star me we're gonna use bouncy bubble here and we're gonna use it a couple times here on the bridge and we're going to be at full health like I was going into all these fights are really low health none of them are terribly dangerous but I'm gonna leave at full health so I don't have to heal before the SSA and rival and we're also gonna be purposely burning a couple Pokemon a little bit later on specifically there's a Machop that uses like brick break against us which is super effective but because we burn it first it has the attack of the Machop and it does way less damage to us that would actually be a scary fight if we didn't have the broken move now do you get faked out here probably games easy nice the game knows I'm playing and not Yuki how dare you Jesus Tobi immune fighting another spinner right now yeah riding is onyx yeah agree he'd be riding his Onix right now yeah Ora and I actually did a speedrun underground race and I went out of my way to do some of the dumbest stuff like I caught a bee drill which you don't do we all had a fun extra incentive in that raised to to go up to 75 catches instead of 50 slowly both of us ended up taking a trip to see foam and doing stuff there and of course I first of all the jinx no no not at all upsetting so fun fact about this fight you'll notice I walked in front of him rather than talking to him if you talk to him from the bridge the background for this next fight will actually be nugget bridge and if you walk in front of him like I did it's gonna be like an open field we noticed that fairly recently and there might be lag implications so like that actually could be a thing that matters at some point right now we don't know so I'm gonna assume this is faster I should have just told you guys this was faster like I don't know why I they would have believed this faster I track I just tested it it's faster oh yeah okay I believe it [Music] we should have all had like switches and pulled it out real quick counting frames on the couch there are you guys if you're playing on the couch she'd have like so you can play this game obviously this is for the Nintendo switch so you can play it in docks mode you can play a undocked you can play in handheld mode if you're playing in handheld mode you get actually way less experience because one of the multipliers for experience is a cat ik Nica bonus which is if you use the joy Kahn's like at all so you get you lose out on that experience and not only that if you're playing a nun doctor and handheld mode the game lags in some places also these guys are blind yeah the game lags in some places that are just like it's brutal like in Viridian Forest where there's a ton of Pokemon that our spawn you're just sitting there it's like the frame rates like six frames per second and it's insane but I mean when we're playing on a TV you know it's it's actually runs pretty well there some of the load times are really long like I'll point one out when we get there going into fuchsia city it's like a six or seven second load it's crazy but yeah almost if you're wondering how he dodged those two trainers getting trainers the spot used kind of weird in this game so if you're on the kind of like the half tile they won't know this to you so it was between the two tiles running down so neither of them could see them that's not like really narrow vision yeah yeah there's four trainers that would otherwise kind of be required that we can just kind of slip past throughout the course of the run mm-hmm we have another one coming up and it's probably the one that I'm the worst at it involves like there's or Oh apparently has some sort of visual cue I don't have a visual cue for it so I'm just like I'm gonna hold down and pray on the way back up it's a lot easier because there's a way that you can like line yourself up but on the way back down or on the way down it's kind of difficult see that's funny because I do way better going down and then I do awful going up I still messed it up a lot going down but I'll point out the spot when we get there yeah oh so I think this is the second cutscene skip coming up really hard trick yeah yeah we need to meet some serious time it's frame-perfect together a frame perfectly to get it frame perfectly [Music] alright so we're done with cerulean in the original games and like blocks your exit until you get the SS ticket from bill and this game it actually requires you to fight both misty and do the bill thing so but now we get to see our favorite movie of 2019 or probably the sequel to our favorite movie of 2019 Evie is gonna do a little bit of detective work and see what's going on in this crime scene so let's a visa movements so great in this so obviously there's no voice acting so we'll do a little bit of commentary here to see what the Evie is doing so okay Evie sees something is amiss look at this the table leg is broken there's a coffee cup on the ground this is bad alright there are some footprints here where do they lead okay they're over here Oh someone left these drawers open that's irresponsible oh my god there's a hole in the wall this is where the good detective work we're gonna we're gonna go figure out who caused this what are those footprints - I don't know apparently this guy right here has some giant feet but we're just gonna leave him be because I mean we don't want to interrupt him he obviously just had a hard day at work so breaking that wall could not have been easy I just waved over here yeah I think you actually fight them in the Pikachu out because you need dig just to deal with a lot of the raw ground types but we can skip it in this yeah so here we're gonna pick up a couple mana berries and we're gonna do nice normally for like a marathon safety we would buy a couple revives but he just gives us three of them so we don't have to go out of our way to do anything super safe that's generally at the perfect amount to like a view no reset runs that's generally all you ever need the only unfortunate thing about that is you need to have other poke on your party to use the revives and I don't think you have any other puzzle in your party right now I do not yeah so sometimes they won't be useful but other times they will be alright so I'm gonna pick up a couple of money items here the first and third money item I pick up are actually RNG pretty wings are the worst ones to pick up because they're only worth $500 I only need $1,000 extra so getting two pretty wings is fine okay now look it's like you call zithers I just called it you can also those V's tail wagging whenever you're near and a them even a them both yeah I got another one over here yes he is tail wagging of it I know there is one over there holy healing item yeah I think it's a healing item let's see there a potion a super potion or a hyper No could you imagine a hyper this really it's like getting a full restore this early Earth of wait a minute there was one time there's a hidden item near the poster in the game corner that I like just like randomly picked up one time on accident and it was a maximum I go that's amazing but yeah it found out that was random too as you can see we have Firefox and hbox that rhymed Jesus knew in the main it was actually the two best Pokemon you can get on this threw out just immediately appeared so instead of going up to get the rare candy think it's like hold on turn around all right there's a count yeah that's been a while yes again we're gonna be evolving a lot of poke 1 and poke 1 like volfix and Jigglypuff are particularly good because they evolve with stones and those are the fastest way you can evolve right there wow really cheese that's crazy so ever is actually interesting in the overworld it's like basically the only Pokemon that you have to sort of interact with ok it sure did it work he won't get a ton of xp for that because he didn't get any of the like big multiply but I need to deal you got the Jigglypuff that's what matters yeah so I actually what aura was saying before we messed that up I am I have to approach the Abra kind of weird because it will despawn if you like run directly in front of it so you have to approach it from behind and sort of scare it it's huge let's switch to pokeball here and then so because I ran out of pokeballs in mount moon I was throwing double great balls and I meant to use an an AB whatever I should probably use one whatever I hit it yeah well yeah it didn't but you did I did you hit that circle yeah so for the two controller catches we actually put both joy Khan's in the like holster Oh a polar that you have and even when you're doing both at the same time the game still sometimes miss inputs and just kind of staggers your throat I thought the coop and get the rare candy yeah normally the first thing you do when I get into this route is get the rare candy but yeah everybody just appeared it's like I'm gonna go get everything first something that point out to about that Abra is if this were actually the Pikachu version we would not be getting it most likely right now because the Pikachu version actually utilizes a Kadabra later because as mentioned before Pikachu is not nearly as busted as Eevee you can actually just use Wigglytuff for that same purpose instead come on normally when they just wait until they stop jumping around because it's really annoying to catch them when they're jumping yeah like the excellent bonus is not only good for experience but it actually increases the catch rate as well it increases the catch rate as well so like this is one of those good areas we actually are doing this a little bit for experience but we really want to get the excellence more so for the catch rate and I think the only other thing that I'd be willing to catch here is a Psyduck which is fairly uncommon so I'm just gonna go past it all right so here's trainer skip yeah all right it's way more difficult than alone for me yeah there's a dark spot in that white dirt patch that you can kind of line your left foot up with and that's usually what I used to go down but when you're going back up you can just line yourself up on the middle tile under million and just go straight act like I know my left from my right I think normally you would sell the fossil here for money but not going to here just for safety but I think you're really far ahead poke one right now yeah so I'm gonna buy a bunch of things here we're gonna buy some healing items a couple escape ropes we're gonna buy a bunch of lures and this is gonna be really important for a couple of the catching segments like so far I've just been picking up lures but we're gonna buy a bunch here that way we can just use just a ton of them like we're about to go into Rock Tunnel we're gonna use probably like close to five of them X speeds and then three of these the card spec isn't something that a lot of casual players really use it's it's really more beneficial for us than anything it just prevents your stats from getting messed with so like stand attacks not gonna drop your accuracy you're not gonna lose attack from growl that kind of stuff and it's something that lasts what five turns yeah yeah back bed I used to last forever yeah it's a really broken a them against leads that have fanned like your rival for example yes so we buy three guard specs there we're gonna find our rival twice here once here and then once a little bit later on in lavender town and both times he leads a pidgeotto that has say an attack and stand attacked lowers your accuracy and makes it so all of your moves are like negatives 3% to hit it's just not a good time so we're we're gonna do that and there's also an Eevee that we're gonna fight a little bit later on that also has a faint attack and growl and we're we need to use physical moves to beat that fight so it's really important for us not to get any of our either accuracy or attack lowered and I just like to point out that a rival is standing right there yeah right right there so I want you to keep that in mind for like about 10 seconds all right we're just kind of going through where we're at in a hurry we need to talk to the captain like you know we times valuable to us and then whoa buddy wait a minute how did you get there it was me deal there's the hole in the floor with the decade here yeah some crazy guy just came up through my floor I wish we knew those strats we probably to get the fight yeah so Pikachu has this fight a little bit easier Pikachu only needs to set up one X attack and the pidgeotto obviously as you can see isn't guaranteed to use sand attacks so if we use the next attack and didn't guessed an attack we can then just sweep the fight but because we did gets tainted our Pikachu needs to set up and also to shot the pidgeotto so it's pretty important for us to set up that guards back just in case okay he is pissed that you couldn't have the good thing about the buzzy buzzy attack is because it paralyzes you lower their speed too often times you don't actually have to set up the next feed for these plates yeah with minus three that actually probably would be better for me to use a next speed because the Pikachu here also has speeds me and Pikachu has double kick now so that's really the main reason why I healed does quite a bit to us but we do a little bit more significantly yeah and then here's oddish so Pikachu struggles with every oddish that shows up and he's just like goodbye yeah you get some crazy coverage off those three moves and we're about we're gonna get a fourth one a little bit later on and the fourth one is just as broken yeah psychic and lay screen in the same move fair and balanced just like Pokemon always is it indeed by the way where's your raikou I love this I love this little cutscene so he's gonna give us the cut hm which is a secret technique called chop down but like watch him do this he just like looks at the teeth bicha tree and it's just gone but you guys can't do that dude John Cena just learned chopped down it's a secret sixth finisher now something interesting to point out is once you complete that little side quest there you don't get to fight the other trainers on the boat like it's actually kind of weird yeah so like they're like way way back when we were first routing the game when we thought we needed a ton of money there's a nugget that you can pick up but there's two trainers in the way so we would just do the fight first and then walk past those two trainers be like hey what's up we're gonna steal your $5,000 money item also he just casually skipped another cutscene so you guys up I thought one was not frame-perfect you guys did see it but I mean also I love this scene there's a boat driving away and this guy just hears you walking down the pier and waves at you he's trying to beckon you but as mentioned we're not gonna do this gym for a while see hey come here and it's like alright later bye yes oh here you can line up with the center tile here okay well done neither of those trainers are like horrible to hit I think one of them has a Bellsprout and one of them has a Charmander and we obviously have sizzly slide for the Bellsprout and bouncy bubble for the Charmander so that's the thing if you shake your controller sometimes you go into the menu where you can pet your Eevee if you donate $500 I'll pet the Eevee have a heart have a heart I heard sell out excuse me that Eevee is not a guaranteed one shot so that was really cool if only she knew about the guy in the center over there get some good moves on her Eevee yeah that's another thing to mention those those like broken moose are only available to the starter Eevee and the starter Pikachu you can catch an Eevee like I might actually see an Eevee later on I won't catch it but I might see one later on I actually can't teach those moves to that Eevee it has to be the starter one and the other one is also the only one I only hope on that you can read as well yeah in theory that kind of gave the starter as those broken moves to kind of compensate for the fact that they don't evolve and their stats do kind of fall off eventually which is why we're gonna be replacing Eevee eventually I mean we're gonna use the eview the whole time right guys yeah yeah yeah we're just gonna fall into a different great getting Pokemon on this thing out of the way I need this yeah it's actually kind of nice you can spawn in the support trainer during battle which he did there you'll do that from time to time yeah mostly when I forget to yeah do that which happens more often than you might think I forgot game I know I'm so excited [Music] my attack is probably high enough that I can to shot this Raticate so this radical here it's just kind of annoying it's faster than us it doesn't really take well to our moveset so we just sort of usually we use buzzy buzz - Wow of water in the little over okay okay that was a lot of damage - shot it usually any with like buzzy buzzy buzz it to paralyze it and then to shot with headbutt afterward which is really like a three shot so I don't know why it's a two shot but yeah where our attack is just absurd right now so bye she's a spinner so that was that was your response she's a spinner in Crystal - yeah hey you got you you successfully passed her twice not so much the third time yeah no no you know so actually the only other thing that can spawn here so I caught a Rattata way way way earlier I cost Bureau and inner end female veteran male here the only other thing I can catch here is crabby and crabby is actually not ideal to catch just because the amount of levels do you have to evolve it is like you have to level it up four times in order to evolve it and all of you spoke up on evolve after one levels so leaving here without Crabbie's fine especially since I got the Abra earlier that sort of like makes up for it what about Chauncey no no check of all those levels gray shadows sighs mommy don't waste money yeah so this is like a new scene I don't know if they were just like there's no story line here so we need to add one but here's some and I think of Lorelei my head turns all around as gentle as a butterfly she moves you're kind of useless actually he's got one Pokemon you like to hit you turn around she's taking about three trainers probably well sipping some tea too I just like you surf with her lap it destroyed all of them they also somehow don't recognize her as being one of the elite four like after she kicks their butts they're like oh she's a late for like we better run yes I think okay see the level 60 Lapras this is destroy all of you John Cena beefing up his 60 I'm so much attack right now you're like actually pretty over level two this is good this is good so actually like experience and like leveling in general before we allow two controllers was a little rough to navigate because there are certain level thresholds we want to hit because it makes certain fights easier and like for example Evie learns you know I was gonna say 20 hey but you know okay so Amy learns double it to 28 so you know that's gonna be super handy for us yeah double edge is sort of a double-edged sword haha I get it it's it's a super powerful move it's like 120 power it's normal types though it's effectively 180 and when you include stab but it gives you a recoil damage so a third of the health that you deal you're gonna take in damage so we need to use it pretty sparingly when we do get it but it's gonna be really useful for us especially for one there's one fight in particular it's gonna be super useful for us now we're going to Rock Tunnel oh no I didn't get flash however will I see oh look it's really I don't need another one guys $500 for a second oh we have 27 silo mix I mean we're still getting more petty donations here so I will pet the Eevee later on I promise hey eevee round two get them in actually have a moment could I read a donation absolutely yeah all right cuz we have $10,000 from like in Gen 1 like if you were level 24 you wouldn't normally learn body slam but it's tied to the evolution now which is a bit weird but it's good if you're playing casually for sure right 28 guys yeah all two of you that said it right congratulations I heard ya Cuban justice Aussie Bonilla it's actually a little bit low on raspberries which is kind of scary you're pretty high on catches the yeah there's a few things here that you want to trick you typically want to catch that can be kind of tricky like this is the one area where experience is nice like he said we want to hit 28 somewhere in rocket hideout but really we're using the two controllers here more so for the catchphrase like some of these things you you could get here on a run with like back in one controller days you can get here on a run with like maybe two or three breakouts and then you leave with like 36 yeah and every breakout is like seven or eight seconds too so that adds up really fast yeah now there's another that like this huge experience Pokemon kind of XP from these I actually didn't see them below but there's a coupon in Machop I'm going to actually evolve both of them keep on - Machop are both for level evolutions so it actually would have been useful for me to catch those first and bend the gravel or that has a lot of experience but I didn't see them so yeah it's not the end of the world it's not that big a deal especially because you don't really lose time to them getting the experience it's mostly the level ups where you lose time so yeah cuz at this point in time you're always gonna have Pokemon your party until the very end yeah let's go dodrio jr. you also notice that I've been like going into my menu a lot in depositing stuff as I'm going through Rock Tunnel here my general rule of thumb is once I have two things to deposit I'll make a special menu we want to try to combine menus as much as possible so like I filled earlier and then deposited so so yeah I typically want to combine the menus I go out of my way to deposit two things just because if they keep leveling up like it's two or three seconds per level up and then if it learns a move at the same time it's even longer yeah he also just mentioned easy to be catching a key banana metropolis to evolve both as you can see only has one space in this party so he has to go into the menu that make at least some space for the two of them so may as well do as much as he can those in there so after I get cubone on machop the only other thing here that i really want to catch is a Rhyhorn we mentioned earlier a Rhyhorn is a ride pokemon and that's gonna be really useful for us and Onix the difference between all that sand ride horn is just the speed they travel Rhyhorn moves actually pretty fast in the overworld it's I think it's in like the second best here have fun to ride yeah it's pretty fast to get one yeah we'll be getting a rapidash later which is like just super fast than the highest tier along with things like Aerodactyl Arcanine arcanine yeah dodo it's a donation incentive it is also a donation incentive yeah I think there's still two more incentives the name for a star me and rapid Esch thankfully if Rhyhorn doesn't show up there actually isn't a whole ton of space before we get rapidash where we're actually gonna be on a ride Pokemon so if we don't get right when it's not a huge deal but it's nice if it shows up there's cubone go for this Machop now is probably a decent time if you want to do a couple more donations sweeten Lee we have twenty five dollars from Manticore 149 why do all these rocket grunts use Radek eights because they want to eradicate their enemies oh the nation goes to ocarina of time incentive which has just passed one hundred thousand of the three hundred thousand nine and thirty dollars from ride that Onix that donation tracker needs to move faster like Onix thanks for motivating me to be a better gamer Onix does not go fast now with that attitude I don't know if we mentioned as well when we're catching the Pokemon you'll notice that little circle if the balls land inside it that's how you get like the excellent threads and whatnot but you also notice has a certain color the closer to red that color is the harder it is to catch so yellow Pokemon are harder to catch think green and then Red's harder to catch than yellow so a lot of the time when he uses the berries they'll become easier to catch and you can notice by the color changing it's not working yeah I only have one raspberry left and I wanted to if I do see a Rhyhorn I want to use it on Rhyhorn instead of that so it's because Rhyhorn would be a little bit more important and this is the other fight we're being - speed matters he has bite and that final inch is the flake I think it's like 96 percent or something stupid now it's like 30% I just got unlucky there no not a six ounce right yeah you're right thing does not stand up no I just I guess I can just cuddle damn it there we go aw it's blocked by etiquettes fat head no I mean I love you buddy yeah poor man are you the one with the big head here I mean you're the ones thinking us in on the couch with all the ego you're not wrong surprised you're not humming there's animation hi watch I'm trying so hard not to Lavelle sneak past the heckler there oh and ER a horn hiding in the corner perfect so I've run this game since it came out and like last month I saw somebody do that I'm like you can go behind him yeah and I know that I just kind of always go around him on the left because I'm still in the habit of having Rhyhorn already that yeah yeah this is probably the best thing you could have found here really does speed up the overworld movement so it'll be in this party for pretty much the whole run yeah so in very early versions of the route before we really realized how valuable lures were this is like the one area we used lures just to get more spawns to try to get Rhyhorn yeah say that immediately goes in the party and is going to be used right away like you guys are gonna see how fast it is now yeah it's not like lightning speed but it is pretty fast there's no bike in the game so get away from get away I'm pretty sure there's nothing else he needs to catch here Charmander can appear but it's one of those like 1% oh come on that's $1 if he catches Kangas come when I see one cuz you can ride Kangaskhan as well that'd be a good meme so this is actually a perfect example of the Eevee moves so we use this Lee's slide here to burn the Machop so brick break does less damage and then the next Pokemon is a Rhyhorn that we're gonna use bouncy bubble on to heal off the damage that we did take so it's like again it's one of those fights that's me almost perfectly for Eevee being a lot of Pikachu cries yeah yeah one controller version of the Pikachu route you'd like take out the Machop with like two zippy zaps and then double kick the Rhyhorn die switch to gloom mega drain it and even then it was like some glooms wooden out speed the Rhyhorn so you could potentially die to the Rhyhorn too it was just awful yeah PS you just does not have the answer to rock ground-types I might be slower than this Vulpix too so this is a this is kind of a dangerous fight Vulpix leads and has flamethrower which can burn and because I'm - speed it might speed me it depends on if I got any speed AVS or not if I got like I think to speed davies then i should be fine but the more dangerous part is the Kadabra that we're going to face after the Vulpix so hopefully I have speed I did nice this trainers a little rougher as well because as we mentioned before certain important trainers have a vs and HP these ace trainers are such examples so she has 24 abs in HP on both for Pokemon which makes them a lot bulkier than they would be otherwise and we did it alright it's basically like she adds 24 hit points to her Pokemon it's actually a ton of HP every AV is just a flat stat increase regardless of your level so yeah so if you know this you know they may only have like 68 points normally but then you at that 30 more 24 more it's almost doubling alright we're good yes I just got the weight hello on this good bionics yeah opps not to use the ler cuz really no point doesn't need to catch anything else in the exits right there yeah another thing that it's pretty commonplace in Pokemon games especially this well Pokemon speedruns that we sort of forgot to mention I'm talking to as many trainers as I can because you walk in front of them there's like a little animation and if you are away from them they're gonna walk toward you and that kind of stuff every because of the way that like the trainer vision works where it's super narrow every trainer in the game outside of the one in Misty's gym can be talked to fun little fact like you don't actually have to walk in front of any trainer I will be walking in front of one just because it's kind of a cool strat that I'm trying to work on but yeah I just wanted to mention that I strive for this white is actually a more recent development it's not super new anymore but I think it was norms that had the idea to just use bouncy bubble here just to top ourselves off instead of doing extra menu to heal before the next drive oh boy yeah like the next fight we're doing is another one of those rival fights where we got a guard spec set up and all that stuff so being able to go into that full health without menuing is really cool yeah you're always gonna get faked out or I think almost always gonna fake up from the me health anyway so you'd have to do something on that turn and setting up is one thing you can do yes the same idea with the kangaskhan fight that we did we use the next attack turn one cuz he almost always uses fake out and then we got unlucky because we were out sped by him and he flinched us twice but normally that fight is pretty quick as though this will be another example of our rival leading a Pidgey either with sands attack so gonna be setting up one of those guard specials here it's really annoying if you get hit by sand because it just immediately drops your accuracy I think it's the sixty-six percent so they could be really annoying if you get hit by any of them you know I've never put two and two together guard spec guards special never thought about that Italy yeah I've never thought about that it's funny a lot of a them still have the same names from the earlier gens but a lot of the time they had the shortened words and the earlier gens do the character limitations so hello for alligator yeah exactly forever no be at the end and then all we have fletchinder that's really long oh I should I'm just gonna heal I have an extra turn that I can use because the guard spec is five turns that I only have four turns to set up mm-hm and a crit would have killed me there or at least come really close so yeah playing a little bit safe there but now he's pretty much fully set up and full HP also our next fight is a metronome fight so we got to see some metronome shenanigans huh metronome shenanigans in the crystal run no boy did we luckily we only get one turn of metronome oh there's some good things that can happen or bad things that can happen I got metronome guillotine yesterday luckily a missus oh yeah hilarious also if you're used to the earlier games for like the earlier versions of the gen 1 games you might be wondering why we're in tower right now there's actually a extra little story that they added and let's go kind of tied to like the cubone sub story with the marowak so you have to come here first realize that the ghosts are here and you can't identify them and then you have to leave go follow the cubone with Team Rocket go to game corner then come back yeah this definitely confused me on my first playthrough because I was like you know just don't used to Gen 1 words like alright just bypass lavender town go over exactly who's the poke at all is there even a poke at all in this game like it wouldn't be I don't just want to win them anything yeah the ghost looks so miserable too well just wants you to be it's right yeah yes actually he's ghost get out begone never mind it's misunderstood it's not a phase mom all right so we're gonna do a little bit of menuing here I'm gonna heal and escape early so I still have 10 lures left that's really good at this point you typically want at least like six left and I've got ten so that's really good I bought a few extra that I normally do but it's always surprising me you only need to escape ropes for this run yeah there's there's quite a bit of places like in generation 1 and 2 that you need to escape out of but in this game we escape rope out of the tower that we just did yeah and the pokémon mansion on Cinnabar Island I just saw something awful hmm yes oh here comes the metronome faith place your bets this could be a blast fire blast burn given the gold classic blizzard freeze I like your style position would be good not even a creative I want like toxic turn one and then I'm not gonna one-shot and it's gonna be leech seed haze all right well useless sure eliminated that flinch stat yeah the opposite of toxic he got rid of your bad luck on this yesterday yes true yeah seeing guillotine yesterday was hilarious because he was actually in the level Ranger II could have been hit by it but it also something pretty nice he's almost up to double edge which means he's on pretty good pace for his leveling cuz you want to get it normally around the rocket segment coming up yeah you want to you definitely need it by the giovani fight which actually depending on my speed I might not do that version of the giovani fight but you need it by the giovani fight typically having it for some of the early fights is useful but not necessarily required it's useful because you can save turns but then you end up having to heal because double-edge is a recoil move and you take a ton of damage like when we the giovani fight has a Persian and when you 1-shot the Persian with double edged it deals 36 damage to you it's like crazy another bruh later rude so that's what I was talking about earlier the D spawning if you run in front of it yeah this is a really cool strat that he's gonna do so later on the poke one that he's gonna be running is a star me and star me is a special attacker spoilers yeah so right here he's gonna set the nature of everything in the wild to be modest which is probably the best nature would be the only other real choice he's also going to teach a move to Evy since he's here let's see glow this is a psychic plus late screen in the same move yeah that's pretty good pretty broken yeah you too wants it yeah imagine one kind of awkward thing with doing runs of this game too is the synchronized NPC her bonus ends at the end of the real-time day so don't do runs late at night yeah if the time were to switch over before star me it would get a random nature and I can kind of ruin the run yeah that's the thing I think norms has had that happen to him where he was like on a run and it crossed over past midnight after this point and yeah that's cuz enormous isn't Australia and he has like an American yeah weird yeah shout at the storms but yeah there could be some cool strats maybe in the future where you abuse that time switch over maybe with like items on the ground because some items reset when the day switches but nothing with that yet I don't think speaking of timid as well another runner Garfield the lightning actually pioneered a strat kind of near the end of the one controller days to get a abre just outside to sell it on evolved into cadaver immediately and then use that instead and that involved studying the nature too timid and then you use timid for the Kadabra and the star me yeah timid was necessary because there's a goal back coming up that would out speed you and golbat has crunch and it hurts yeah I'll I was like that little bit of dialogue because Jessie and James tells us where the switches that we just pressed also here's a cool strat so we get to talk to this girl and she's gonna give us a an outfit that we can use one of the cool things there's a little bit of character customization where you can actually put on different outfits so I'm going to go ahead and dawn the Team Rocket cap and when you put on the Team Rocket garb you can actually like walk past all the different trainers so we're going to go ahead and put the top on do the pants do the shoes bag all right be good viola sh yeah this just lets you bypass all the Team Rocket trainers which is really good because a lot of the fights are pretty slow here wait oh you missed the Hat oh it's not actually a strategy yeah just rolling but hey we look cool now right we do you look cool I actually kind of want to put on the Hat I might say like skips a bag and I accidentally skip the Hat instead I also like how the Eevee can have customized outfits taken enough out style yeah I'm gonna heal I should have healed walls in that menu but I was too busy too busy trolling geez who wasn't come on speed right yes that's a good point too and the Pikachu routing where we used neato King for a little bit and this hypno was a huge problem you basically just had to pray that the AI was bad enough they would use hypnosis her head but on you and if it didn't you would just kind of die [Music] [Applause] all right yeah a hattery $500 we'll put it on wait yeah let me put it there we go there we go you did it now I really styling it yeah I was pretty oh we get the Sailor outfit too so this is kind of nice it happened in the remakes a Gen one as well but a gen one had really really slow movement pads yeah where's like this it's a lot more reasonable yet the movement pads are so slow in Gen 1 to avoid using just like two of them you energy of on these Jim make two trainers walk to you and then walk all the way out of the gym and go back in it's really funny I think it's like one-fourth the speed of normal walking in that gen it's so awful then this pretty much the same speed he's mad at you all right he has sucker punch so that could have hurt and then the Voltorb the worst thing you can do is sonic boom which is always close by kiss it always does 20 damage so we are fine something that's kind of interesting about the Pikachu is because it gets the basically electric type extreme speed it's plus 2 priority which means it gives before even Sucker Punch so you don't have to worry about that in all of these fights so that would be one of the fights you would use of them go here and fight this guy we need to get the lift key and this guy is hiding it from us so in order to get to the Giovanni room where cubone is being held captive he's always forget there's actual storyline here yeah this guy is such a poor sport - oh yeah I hate this fight as I see it's not just an idiot like in gen1 when he just drops oh no I dropped the lift key happening crunches oops all right so we were able to pretty easily to shot the Grimer Grimer has a couple of really trolling moves they can disable our glitzy glow so we have to use another move it has hardened which doesn't matter cuz closely glow is special and it also has minimized which is just really unfortunate and you can also attack but that's actually one of the fights where it's nice to have glitzy glow because we set up a light screen sludge is special so it does a little bit less damage than it normally would it's gonna be really useful for us on actually the next two fights as well so the guy was a really poor sport through the list key on top of the thing and we have to figure out how to get up there for some reason they want us to stand on probably the least safe item in the entire room there's like a desk right there you ask there's a bunch of boxes no we're gonna stand on the chair that's gonna roll away from us as we're going I like how this guy just stands here and watches us do this - it's almost like he let me hold that chair for you yeah like why isn't he trying to stop us like the first time I played the game I saw the chair and that was my first lot I'm like no they wouldn't put like children on lighting this yeah children playing this don't stand on chairs but you try to pick up the boxes and it just as they're too heavy so apparently being weak is like better than dying you're trying to reach to the cookie jar on the kitchen counter just grab the office chair from your parents often don't do that make sure it's one of the ones like leans back - yeah make sure you're not on carpet either make sure you're on like hardwood or we really gonna roll around like one foot all right we should mention don't do any event like a WWE thing don't try this at home yeah I mean we are John Cena got the chair dudududu that's just so much nicer than Gen 1 my goodness before I forget i'ma do a little bit of menuing here so we're about to fight Jessie and James again for the second time first time was back in melt moon so it's been a little bit of a while if you remember they had a Ekans and a coughing so they have since evolved into some pretty scary Pokemon Wigglytuff is gonna get his time to shine here let's go big box the hungriest box yeah he's actually this point was actually pretty inconsistent before we decided to use Jigglypuff or Wigglytuff in it so there's a Japanese runner that found this strat - yeah I can't for the life of me remember the username but yeah shadow is for the Japanese community they have a lot of runners of the game there's not a ton on the leaderboards but like they've they do some pretty crazy stuff like they skip both of the moonstones amount moon they do like late bugs they do all sorts of stuff it's crazy yeah you can actually get Caterpie and wheedle on the second half a route to right outside of radiant forest and you actually get them at a higher level but a man is it inconsistent yeah there's a lot of stuff you can go for that's just a matter of how brave you are really all right so Wigglytuff here is gonna use next special on John Cena and get destroyed yeah it served its purpose thanks hungry is the box yes so Willie tough is poison tape all right sorry very good which means this week the poisons that they targeted instead of you so kind of a free turn to set up yeah getting double targeted by the by these two trainers is just awful yeah but yeah so we set up our 2x specials were able to one-shot the we're gonna be able to one-shot the weezing here to shot the arbok we've used buzzy buzz on it first turn that way we paralyzed it so we're faster than its second turn then we taught double edged there no poison is really good so I'm gonna use this last turn to heal one of the really cool things about these double battles is whenever you don't have anything to do like I don't need to setup anymore I don't need anymore X items I can use that turn in a useful way and heal instead like I don't have to just pick a move as the Rhyhorn I can do something where I would otherwise have to menu after this fight I just did I just did my healing during the fight and we're able to just go straight into the next one and these fights before - controller these fights worked terrible fire the worst fight so yeah they brought back the one of the rocket admins from actually heartgold SoulSilver so this is not a fight that was in the original games and this is Archer the Team Rocket admin he is a nice blue haired gentleman let me tell you so the way that this fight used to go is we'd have to actually set up like an ex-special defense or we'd have to use glitzy glow turn one to set up our light screen instead now that we have two pokemon that we can use we're actually going to use glitzy glow turn one with the second controller set up the X special so that will almost kill the wheezing it uses dark pulse on the Ryan form which is nice because the Rhyhorn it's not gonna use the poison type move against the Rhyhorn where it would like have the potential the status the Rhyhorn and you'll see there I was actually slower than the wheezing which is one of the downsides to having minus the speed and then here we're going to use buzzy buzz and hopefully we won't get air splash all right cool inner splash scream flinch which is obviously the worst thing that can happen here yeah typically it doesn't go for air slash just because we do set up a light screen and air splash is a our special move by it has been known to do it so the game works in mysterious ways yeah bit unfortunate he didn't get the basically one turned there fry horn had slightly better attack you can get that in one turn but didn't happen yeah and so I opted to heal the Rhyhorn instead of the eevee eevee should be fine actually I should not do the Eevee strat I should do someone actually wastes a little bit of time here to do some extra menuing but it's kind of necessary fun little slide fact is well in very very early kind of theory crafting for the road there was a couple people that messed around with there's a trade you can do in lavender town for anna lowland Dugtrio because we were like oh it's a ground type you can get quake and just destroy everything in here but every single weezing has flamethrower and just melts it so that was shut down pretty quick yeah there's actually a runner by the name of uh I don't know exactly how to pronounce it's like so up crow NT I think who he's messing around with a lowland Dugtrio he's actually done some pretty crazy runs he got like a 314 so the record in this game is like a 306 three 14 or so with dodrio as his maid instead of star me which was pretty crazy and he's he's advocating pretty hard for the Olin Dugtrio strat it's kind of the cool thing with this game it's a wild Pokemon are generally a lot higher level than they are in other Pokemon games there's been a lot of like kind of for fun routes just with other Pokemon that people have done I routed jinx at one point never actually ran it but it's been done yes so this fight you'll notice I used gravel err instead of Eevee the Eevee no I don't want to bring out your is too slow to have speed the Persian after a next speed so even at plus-2 speed the Eevee is too slow for the Persian so I opted to do slightly slower version but it was way safer to do the gravel earthing traveler just needs to terms of setup and then can just explode and completely take care of the Persian and then we bring out the Eevee or John Cena sorry bring out John Cena to finish off the Rhyhorn yeah it's one of the cool things about this game is cuz you're actually forced to catch too many pokemons you can come up with like these really interesting strats for all the faith's so that being one example yeah this is the last fight and Pikachu and the one controller Oh to that you'd keep gloom 4 so you'd have to keep it all the way up until this point yeah that's really annoying because you get so many levels doing that I think it ends up at like 25 26 something like that yeah low mid 20s I'm gonna grab this for a backup I forgot every single practice run to grab that but I'm glad I remembered here there's you've probably noticed like a common theme there's not a ton of like dangerous fights there's a lot of fights that can waste a lot of time but this game doesn't really have any of those like oh I'm so glad I got past that fight until like a bit later on like the champion fight to be quite honest is one of those fights where really your runs not over until that fight is over quite literally but I mean in pokemon red for example actually red has the same thing where the champions fight and go wrong so but it doesn't have anything like in Gen 1 with misty for example like getting past misty is this huge thing we don't really have anything like that until maybe sylco there's a fight that's kind of dangerous it used to be getting past Archer here and then there's a couple in a couple fights there's a fight called Ted that was also a really dangerous fight but now with two controllers they're pretty trivial so I'm gonna do some more party swaps here and get rid of the gravel err I should have done this in a completely different way but whatever this came out she has a lot going for it as far as if you're looking to get into Pokemon speedrunning and this is being a good option as your first one I mean there's very little risk of dying in a lot of instances especially with two controllers it's fun to catch the Pokemon it's a nice little fun exercise thing you get to do and it's on the switch so it's a lot easier to capture gameplay for then you know the DS games or whatever alright so now we're back to lavender Tower and we're just gonna be going up the tower there's a couple of mandatory fights and then I'm going to be trying to get a ghastly there's actually some pretty cool movement on the second floor that I hope I get and I hope the spinner cooperates in a way that makes it look cooler than it actually is so this this is gonna be a really good showcase of just how narrow the eyesight of trainers is there's a spinner that's in the middle of like at a four-way intersection and going off to the left there's a one tile wide thing you can actually while the trainer is looking in that direction be in that one tile wide gap and still not get seen it's crazy so hopefully we get to see that in the next floor there's a gas leave I'm not going it's a cube of course not even a hub so that's very rare all right here we go [Music] he looked the other way or she did but yeah so she can look to the left - and it looks like really dangerous but it's really not but now might be a good time for a couple donations sounds good to me we have 46 dollars from pig the saz trying to get the Pokedex number train restarted guard for Jen one Laura Condor is probably mine but Kabutops and Starmie are close seconds which is kind of funny since they're the two mains that we've gone back and forth between for every freaking time etiquette come on like oh he was about to repass the spinner there there's a clip of the current world record in this game where and we made fun of it on the sprint you did and I should have hit there's two spinners there I should have hit three of them like it was insane that's funny anyway Keys was your favorite Pokemon oh I I really liked Bulbasaur uh-huh I don't a plant gang yeah actually no that's my uh list of my favorite to be honest Kees do you actually wanna try a Bulbasaur cry does that make a Pikachu no what is boldest I was crying yeah this is mega pick your favorite I mean you should know okay and I was okay it's always weird they have different cries and like the anime and then the game's house found that kind of weird and then you have the little squeaky noise they make and detective Pikachu yeah I like to detect the Pikachu this is a good overview it was cute shoutouts to detective Pikachu yeah that's a game you'll never see in a gdq it's like six hours long I mean if Animorphs can make it man animorphs isn't six hours long and warszawa didn't know it can't be it can be six hours believe me yeah six hours of animatronics I hear from design morphs yeah we got this this is probably one of the best cutscenes in the game but you guys didn't donate for yeah you have to skip it yeah so there's even no press F in the chat yeah it's a bit of a tearjerker oh yeah for sure they get the sad music - you don't get to hear any of I'm not frame perfect' and boot this man boo [Music] you've got the Rhyhorn already guys okay oh that guys they tried the Snape is dodged like I just move this rare candy and Jen was just completely blocks your way it's like no you're gonna take that rare candy I'm actually uh yeah I can still save I'm gonna say it before this fight it's not a terribly dangerous fight but this is a really good opportunity for me to check the number of Pokemon cuz it's been quite a while since the crowd has reminded me how much we have we have some conflicting opinions there 7re pool yeah in case you miss Jessie and James from like three minutes to go here yeah the exact same fight he except they're like way more difficult and the wheezing has dark pulse which is kind of dangerous for the Rhyhorn if you have a - special defense Rhyhorn it uh it does not do well also shadows are Wigglytuff let's go hungry your box huh courier bot pokémon I'll say vs VP in the top right and that's just kind of a idea of how good the poke one is we'll definitely check that for the star me but if you look at it for like for example the Rhine horn if it has a really high number then you know the Rhyhorn will likely have good special defense and can take the hits from these guys yeah it's a little weird cuz it's not actually a stat it's kind of just this weird approximation of what your stats look like it's kinda liking the abbreviation of like your total stats mm-hmm yeah so you notice I'm not opting to heal on that last turn that's because this is the last fight where we are using John Cena yeah laughs and shot there's a new champ in town John Cena you could say there's a new star a John Cena is a WWE Superstar all right we have two open seats on the couch if you guys want Oh my head's not that big and we conveniently have two plushies all right medic take it away all right so here we get the Polka flue and this is where the game really opens up for us we have to do a whole lot of plot stuff and now we get to do a whole lot of not plot stuff yeah I also love this he gives you the poké flute like what's it looks he possibly gonna use this for and just no warrant I think comes running to you later do that get rid of John Cena [Music] we also didn't mention it earlier but you can just use fly with the town map which is really convenient yeah way faster than going into the menu yeah normally in order to fly you have to go into that pet the Eevee menu you have to ignore the Eevee and not pet it and use fly from there but that's just cruel so we just do it from the town map we don't even get the Eevee's hopes up so fun fact I learned you could actually skip this it's not good for you you absolutely do yeah if you go if you're down low enough you can actually completely skip this cutscene which no don't do that yeah instead of getting like the freshwater and Jen one to get into saffron you have to get the food from Brock there and I guess they figured it was too easy to miss when they put the T in firered/leafgreen so they just put a rock right out here I don't know where the T is and like really inconvenient to go in there and talk to some random old lady and she gives it to you and then you have like the spare like NPC Pokemon that can block you know Wade yeah also shout outs now mr. Fuji's coming up wait don't do that yeah we flew here okay we flew here he's like I wonder if he's waking up a Snorlax oh I hurry Sprint's all the way over here like not known fact mr. Fuji is like the greatest marathon runner of five yeah and you'll notice this is an actual battle so all the legendaries plus the Snorlax is our actual wild battles in order to catch them you have to defeat them first so that can actually be a thing if you want to catch the Mewtwo for example but now we're going to probably one of the places that if you're on really good pace you're really nervous for because you can waste a lot of time here also I'm gonna do is gonna learn now to make sure they get higher level as they appear oh it's the last place I'm gonna be able to do it cuz after this we're getting rapidash yeah a little like tip if you're struggling with the legendary fights at home then thank you I don't think you learned in that menu they're just my saw the lore active I didn't even see that trainer right there we were able to skip because we just hug the bottom wall yes it's really important that healers here because the pennytown needs to be level 39 when he catches it which is conveniently one level involving BS strangely enough those legendary encounters of a five-minute time limit that doesn't account for you having animations on it all and it ticks through the animations oh well so if you're taking too long if you're doing it casually just turn animations off and you have like infinite time this is also kind of the point in the runs where the kids gonna be running through all this Pokemon and kind of getting an idea of how many more he needs to catch yeah so I think I have three Pokemon more than I was originally planning so I could just skip all the fossils and be good yeah so that's typical when you get good luck early on because he got of course the onyx and then a couple other bonuses as well I think you got julia of the APRA was the bonus tabare yeah that was the big bonus yeah luckily the Onix might gain one level there yeah somehow yeah if if he gave more XP get like three or four levels on the Onix maybe learn some moves and we actually need the rapidash name I got one for you winner is can Akhil alright you're gonna have this blast meet you I think it's not as pronounced it's capital C a n I see you le uh yes of course whatever that means all right that's assume if it's not right I can always change it luckily we can actually just change the name of the Pokemon from the menu it's late now lucky you it's really nice and let's go yeah luckily with the lore comes it exactly 39th which is just the perfect level for to evolve and you guys saw how fast the onyx is you saw how fast my horn has Sonic's is fast as it worked you saw how movement speed he is you saw how fast ryhorn is you're gonna see how fast Rapidash is and why it's like absolutely crucial for us to get during the run yeah the other crucial Pokemon for him to get here is a is it still dead dua yep yep yeah so he will have the egg here that's used for I think two or three fights we a really fast buck one so we're gonna grab a couple of extra items here there's an elixir we're also gonna get a rare candy at the bottom there's no perfect that's I'm mad that I got this luck in the marathon where's this luck at home yeah they're both flake not rare but somewhat rare and it can be really annoying both of them to appear cuz beneath if you can't just take one yeah one of the things that didn't ever come up but is kind of something that mess this is lesson list to be run a little bit is there's a mechanic in the game called like called like catch comboing and catch chaining so there's a bunch of different things that once you get a catch combo of a certain number like 31 11 those are some of the key points certain things start to happen one of the things that can happen is the pokemon that you catch are gonna have better stats shiny chance has improved that kind of stuff another thing that happens is the Pokemon that you're on the cash combo of is more likely to appear in the wild and that catch combo counts that look at one catch so if you have a catch combo of exactly one that pokemon is still more likely to appear than it would normally be so if I caught that Ponyta very early on and then was sitting here looking for a doduo I'm just gonna see a ton of Ponyta speak of the game hates me but yes so that's uh getting through that is actually really good without any sort of delays that that usually doesn't happen that went pretty well yeah also this is the loading screen I was talking about it's like seven seconds long it's absurd you also hear the music so it's like have you loaded the next area yeah really weird and here's a cute little cutscene where we it's the Eevee checking out the fuchsia cities yeah this this run it's kind of like a race the fuchsia in the way because at this point you lock star and star fun locks pretty much the rest of the map so it's really nice to get here and just open up everything to travel anywhere you want them oh it's at this point to that we're mostly wrapping up the 50 Pokemon as well this is yeah I know where we do the rest of the cleanup reminder that tauros is a bully oh it's always the tourist this whole boo that thing what a good also fun fact the Pokemon in the water is the opposite of the fossil I got so I purposely grabbed the dome fossil so you guys could see the ammonite Wow how how kind the jet fuel along KY just thought of that now don't tell them oh you hit me right so here we're gonna get the C scheme secret technique so this is what replaces surf in the original games we'd have to beat Koga in order to use out a battle but I mean this game just likes us apparently so so the move doesn't make sense yeah there's a bit of a flavor fail here too because you can actually ride I believe Lapras and Gyarados there might be others but you can ride them in the water and just completely bypass this surfboard but you still need to have seize him to do it so how what I wanted to do well time yes now he's gonna fly back to pallet and we're gonna get the star me coming up yep so not yet but we will need a star me name pretty so you have pretty soon he also has to check the CP value on it I think is the range from about 1050 to 1150 on them 950 - 950 ok 950 - 1110 fifties average so that's what I'm hoping for yeah I will take anything because star me is actually fairly alright well little one if this one's bad CPI will go for the Zoidberg all right that was an option yes now I assume normal capitalization like dr and then yeah exactly alright the least convenient names possible so much movement on the keyboard reminder that menuing is the truest form of speedrunning yeah and this game forces you to use the analog stick for everything like you can't use a d-pad oh yeah we never really talked about it you are forced to use a single joi con like I'm using it in the grip like the puppy dog ears just because it's a little bit easier to hold be if you use a single joique on while you're playing and you can't use the pro controller or anything like that oh I didn't get that yet that's fine that's a really awkward you can't use the d-pad on the joy cons in handheld mode but only in handheld mode yeah yeah so I just had a mini panic attack because we pick up a water stone on this just not yet yeah I was like ah I didn't get the water stone over good we're good it's also nice near candying he can use a little bit of an idea of the stats so you can kind of start planning stuff later I love magic harp in the overalls just look just like he's like he's swimming he's just splashing on top of the water it's just chilling man he's got one move yeah everything that spawns here under a lure is level 43 so it's a 40 level 43 Pokemon that can just do nothing in battle it's great it can tackle heat rises struggle yeah you're dr. Zoidberg evolved into storm [Music] and I already taught scold so I'm good [Music] yes and now it's kind of just the mansion and then after that we get a nice little Jim Rush breaking up between all the gyms you can you kind of want to put off the gym as long as you can just because like now we have this very powerful Pokemon it's way better than the Eevee was and we can just use it to destroy pretty much all the gyms yeah so the catch right it's worth noting the catch Radha I was using is a little bit different than the ones I would use on PB attempts normally coughing evolved t'v wheezing and tend to cool evolved into Tentacruel would be part of my route but I am purposely got extra Pokemon specifically the second moonstone the fossil I didn't sell and then I was also willing to go a to Pewter City and get the other fossil the Aerodactyl so that was for extra Pokemon so I was able to have coughing and tentacle as a bonus and we didn't even need like all of our playing Pokemon that's just how lucky we got with our bonuses also this is the the cool strat I was talking about so it if the support trainer walks in front of the guy he won't walk all the way to you think he's not gonna walk through the trainer but normally we would go over and talk to him but we save a little bit of movement by like doing that kind of weird movement yes orbit this is also like a really scary fight I don't have dodrio I was second that's fine this will be fine right Todd you're sounding like me now okay just take the bed heal is fine yeah yes Gary right there but got there is yeah this was the like absolutely the hardest fight in the game before we allowed two controllers in order to do this fight what we had to do is we had to actually pick up it go out of our way pick up an extra hyper potion we would set up with an X special defense an X special attack a hyper potion because we would die the next turn then use psychic and all of those turns he's using Thunderbolt and all of those turns we can get paralyzed so it's just a brutal fight without the two controllers with two controllers as you see it's incredibly easy normally what we do is we put doduo in slot to and doduo will die but then we'll revive it the next turn because we want to evolve it but that way it takes the the target off of star me yeah he'll always Thunder both adieu if he can yeah very rarely he still can go after the star me but very rarely does he actually go after it you know what'd be cool what would be cool being able to pet the Eevee again I think I think everyone would agree you know what else would be cool what's that if we have people donate towards not only petting the Eevee but also including that towards the Ocarina of Time bonus game absolutely so what better way to maximize the donations and the fun how are we looking on the Ocarina of Time donation right now we are sitting at a little bit under one hundred nine thousand out of three hundred thousand okay that's a lot of have the super buff Pokemon that would be a hard fight yeah luckily everything in the gym if we did happen to hit something everything in the gym should be almost like ten levels lower than us they expect you to fight this they actually expect you to do Erica's gym based on the levels before doing the rocket hideout segment and that was like 40 minutes ago for us so this fight was also probably the single largest issue at the Kabutops route yep long yeah so I had a chart in my notes for this like there was basically HP and special defense thresholds for Kabutops that meant you could live the mega drain from Tangela and get the required setup you need it because you actually do need to set up one X item still so yeah there was a very good chance that your Kabutops just could not live a hit from tangela and like for instance on the Pikachu route the backup was actually to go teach floaty fall to Pikachu and use Pikachu for this fight and it was just disgusting Wow yeah so a 4-time is weakness we'll d-do that's heretic at night that this fight like oh yeah like it's no problem and aura routed it out it was like 5% I like how you not dying yeah but then we had star me here who takes the fun out of everything and just psychics yeah this is probably a pretty good time for donations as well just sweeping through the gym here can do we have one hundred and thirty three dollars from Eevee number 1/33 best Jen one Pokemon it lets indeed restart the Pokedex number donation train let's get that ocarina incentive this run that would be sweet 1:12 okay we've got an hour last it's dodrio I did put code Rio in slot two right I believe so I hope you did I think this was always in slot 3 yeah it should be there if rapid I shouldn't - we can still do like a special fire blast or over and in order for you to go continue you have to fight me because I have to see if you're strong enough for something so I'm just gonna weaken all your Pokemon because he's just such a nice guy he used to test you out Steve like how he wants to test you out you're like okay here's my good friend Wynn who doesn't say a word ever who also has the same clothes as I do we're both wearing Team Rocket uniforms but yeah we'll fight you all right yeah so here we go we go X attack on the dodrio dodrio uses drill peck and bye-bye executor and noose that's just insane yeah it just comes with Sansa good news that and then the second Pokemon coming up here is that Charizard now dodrio has nothing good against the Charizard so instead what we'll do is we'll use scald and next special on the star me and bye-bye Charizard so really easy fight especially with two controllers that was this was like one of the fights I was most proud of when we were routing to controller so I was like this is just awesome and new tag-team champions of the world when star me dodrio Tag Team GX come on bug won yes super long ago we used to get Aerodactyl for our faster ride Pokemon and we actually used Aerodactyl for the executor but that's long long gone at this point I'm gonna save here I only have a couple of healing items and I would like to check my Pokemon count 46 I love Pokemon short see how the two gifts to nine tails I can get the extra moonstone yeah that's fine yeah so much that I didn't need the fire stone yeah the fossils out of the way it's even more out of the way now the fossils already like a minute detour even if you're doing it when you're in cinnabar it's like we do it for a marathon safety but all right so yeah this fight sucks so there's three ways that this fight can go from turn one the perfect world scenario is electrode user self destruct and muck does not use protect the other things that can happen are what is this which is bad so electro decided to use Thunderbolt on me we were able to one-shot the muck but now we have to heal because the electrode can one-shot us you'll see he did less or even more than half also radically in this fight has sucker punch which means every time we used an attacking move he's gonna hit us with a super effective priority move also double fights are super fast and not at all laggy come on dudes and then he went out to the radical what a pale bone what a Dom hey there's this electrode that's like about to die let me hit the radical instead all right okay that's actually good as I think now kill the Raticate yeah I'm so confused that how this fights going oh my god good welcome to why I stopped running today just wanna lose like what was that weirdest I've never had a fight that win like this oh that's never happened before in a marathon all right yeah yeah because this fight is so laggy presumably because we have an AI a partner every extra turn is just that much worse than an extra turn would be in an any other fight so that's really easy to just lose minutes to this fight it's like cones just didn't do the attack not to mention I was just status so I had the paralysis but we also had to we had to not only wait for the double battle leg we had to wait for the paralysis status swag thing yeah so this is this is the first fight in the run like we're over two hours in this is the first fight in the run where it's really like you're like clenching when you get to this point you're like I need this fight to go well and if this fight goes wrong and you're on really good pace it just kills your mood and it kills the run so this point was awkward but it was fine like the the self-destruct killing off the eradicate was actually really yeah yeah a couple more Thunderbolts there that could have been really bad but didn't if it makes me think only better the shiny eradicate on the couch here is very happy with you [Laughter] I forgot you had a bunnelby I mean it's the same same puke-green time to kill her so he's just like chillin on YouTube or something he's like why is he on a laptop I never understood that yeah so I really like how they redid this segment in generation 1 there's only like two mandatory fights outside or three mandatory fights outside of the the giovani fight at the end and one of them is in this room is the rival fight instead what they do is they have the rival meet you here and because you're like all buddy-buddy with the rival and your rival is not a jerk he goes and takes care of Archer instead so it's like a cool it's a cool little throwback to the original games while still being able to be its own unique thing also worth noting is after the true double fight we got we got healed so we didn't have to worry about being hurt and we also got our power points replenished which is pretty important we picked up two elixirs in this run and we're gonna need both of them at various different points in the run yes so sadly for Jessie and James they only got like two or more levels on their Pokemon since the last time we saw them and we have this godly star me now so we're just gonna kind of destroy everything and dodrio it's kind of silly that you pay them like twice within five minutes and they get like three or four levels and then you give them two hours and they only get like two levels they got lazy I don't have any more that's how it doesn't matter like that I heal there more for like I have an extra turn yeah but thinking like a regular push and that was really it I usually 14 is pretty safe on the super potion count yeah yeah he's like three on the Elektra it was really unlucky yeah alright so now we're gonna do the Giovanni fight this fight is pretty straightforward again he's he leads the Persian Persian likes to use fake out so we just set up on that turn and then we were able to sweep after that so now is probably a really good time for some more of those pokedex number donations or events all right Evy bets yeah we have $22.22 from anonymous Ivysaur is the best so here's a bunch of two's donation goes to ocarina at a time let's get it done shet yeah agreed 48 dollars and 70 cents from empty Sora don't beat it thing and really catching it was unreasonably bad without the master ball so you'd have to do this early which doing this early is one of the most hellacious things you could possibly do it up is the very long teleporter sequence to get to Sabrina and after that's obviously the Sabrina fight but you can definitely read some donations during the teleporting alrighty we have one hundred and thirty one dollars from Duran Thal one hundred and thirty one dollars for the decks number of my favorite genuine Pokemon lap [Music] and now one person the crowd was excited earlier is even more they're like 38 and then forgetting these don't give him that much credit oh yeah so it's worth noting in order to get into the brain is Jim you have to have a level 45 Pokemon if you guys remember when we ditched the Eevee it was only level 30 and we haven't even done we've done like five fights and center or something like that so we would have had a really hard time if we didn't mean switch away so that's that's one of the reasons why getting either star me or Kabutops or Zapdos is really useful is because in order to get into this gym you need something that's a pretty high level how does the game freak for finally not reusing the same gym solution they actually reused Sabrina's gym solution in Gen 6 in x and y and then they finally mixed it up in this game yeah it's really cool in this game it's also fun to note that Sabrina couldn't get into our own gym yes Sabrina doesn't have any Pokemon that are level 45 yet we need a level 45 Pokemon to get in here also it's really super interesting to like point out the teleporters because it actually wasn't until like somewhat recently that we actually figured out like the best possible way to approach everything because uh some of the older routes like actually ended up accidentally taking like an I should teleporter or two and and even then when we optimize how many teleporters to take there's still a slightly better path to take to kind of avoid the spinners in a smoother manner yeah every one of those spinners only looks in two different directions so there's kind of a bit of routing based on you know where they can be looking potentially [Music] so here's the Sabrina fight Sabrina's pretty straightforward we just need to do a bunch of setup hopefully we get light screen turn one light screen obviously boosts the special defense of hair team so we got it the reason why we want lace screen turn one as opposed to turn to is because it wears off after 5 turns so by the time we finished setting up and killing off the mr. mime the light screen will be gone and we'll be able to one-shot the Alakazam pretty easily my mind is blown I never noticed that she had animations when she was telling that it do moves yeah like she's like walking in the air what that's awesome yeah now you're never gonna see it cuz you're killing everything no take this or the AL because they have a turn no breeze hair in this too and it's just like it's flowing in the wind like ah it's like a rooftop as all the gyms have like really cool like town themed yeah a lot of them at all I don't have like a crowd but you're gonna see if we're gonna do coda next and there's like an actual crowd around the arena and it's like really cool to see they're really important we got Thunderbolt cuz this fight really needs it especially for that slow bro yeah there's a few slow rows we need to deal with in the run so having Thunderbolts useful high emote by emote Oh [Music] coming up is the kogas gym kogas gym it's it's sort of bittersweet because you get to coquí's gym you're like I'm finally done with the catching I'm able to get in I got 50 Pokemon he didn't mess up and get 48 I didn't mess up and get 56 I have 50 I don't know I've actually never gone under I've gotten over a couple of times but I've never been under but you get into kogas gym and you're like finally relieved and you're brought or you're like given these two fights that are just awful because kogas p.m. is toxic and also all of his pokemon have protect as do the pokemon on the other mandatory fight in the gym so it can be a really trolly fight yes so hopefully we don't get hurt too much the the first fight we're gonna do has a monk that also has minimized and we need to set up two plus two special attacks so it's gonna have a turn to minimize hopefully we get protect in that turn where we're doing nothing but usually we aren't that lucky yeah this is another one of those poke one that has a vs and because that has a higher hit points that you can't one hit it so got this set up and it's also pretty scary because minimize is actually terrible shapeshifter this fight also highlights some really strange move set decisions that they made in this game yeah MOC has moonblast and the Beedrill has outraged yep don't ask me why oh the beetle does have outrage awright I'm like really you never get to see it but yeah it does it there's this guy right here I do like the update that they did to the invisible walls like they're actually invisible and just poof every now and again yeah yeah it's really cool aesthetic in the gym for sure there's also like if you look up in the the molding of like there's like the MOC there's been a net or venomoth there's a bunch of poisoned just a coal bat right there [Music] protect moonblast special attack drop all right cool that's like way better than you could ask for while there there's well okay they pickle my friend he give me annoying but like no minimizes great like yeah anytime you don't get minimize we're happy with that fight incoming be drill pretty yeah it's like like our PP is kind of important through this section we do have an elixir that we're going to use it's just a matter of when do we use it if we use too many psychics than we like can't beat Koga for example so yeah we should be fine it's annoying to that skull on beat reality just it is actually not it doesn't work if you get - special attack from the moon blast so it's kind of a nice EP management strategy don't get the moon blast proc wow did you guys see that lag yes my supreme rate for hahaha where's-where's cover muffin huh you have to fight them until you pick the right one if we had cover muffin here he could have done the life for us also this isn't fair it's four on one just kidding it's one on one it's like that should be had the power just multiply like that yeah but I don't need it we don't need it but I need them now but anytime yeah cookies are pretty straightforward fight you just act special and then spam psychic if we get really lucky the wheezing will just explode on our setup turn here yeah it's actually kind of convenient because you don't have to waste the turn filling it it almost never happens yeah I think Jim freaked we did a race yesterday Jim freaked got it um turn one ah so he's a cheater yah yah yah I think he almost died cause he was pretty low HP in the state we have pretty much just sweeping this fight so if there's a couple more donations maybe one or two absolutely we have $100 from keno suave who says save the Radhika's pet the V's and get that ocarina of time run I just wanna point out real quick we've gotten over 11,000 dollars in the last 15 minutes for the ocarina run so let's people Menem going friend keep that goin guys that's the thing yeah I was a pretty good Koga fight no only one per sex I think good stuff alright alright so now we are if you remember was that a half hour ago we had two badges now we have seven and so we're about to go and fight the final gym leader who oh it's mysterious we don't actually know who it is I hope to find out soon yeah but first I'm not gonna forget it like I did on a practice run we have to get a very important oh you did it yeah yeah a world record holder etiquette here forgot to get strength or strong push it could be worse you could forget to get X items and have to go all the way from ecute eeek back to Goldenrod house there shut up that's how we found out the step counters are bad yeah I guess that's worth noting there's there's no RNG manipulation in these games ever since Gen 5 Gen 5 is the last one that actually utilizes RNG manipulation in the speedruns I think it's technically possible in some of the later games but it would just be completely unreasonable for us to use in a speedrun yeah from what I recall like Gen X and Gen 7 you could manipulate but it's like actual like subframe stuff and it's so unreasonably undeveloped that there's no point right now which if you want to join the Pokemon discord and help out absolutely yeah I guess it's a good time to sort of plug the pokemons to be running discord and all that stuff so we have a whole discord it's got all the games in it besides the PMP besides the PM's yeah they had their own discord but the let me use this I'm gonna one second I didn't plan this out and it's like the hire an advertiser so yeah PS are discord all the different games in there let's go is in there and let's go has a pretty good community it's in my opinion it's one of the easiest games to just sort of pick up and learn you probably noticed throughout a lot of this like none of the fights are all that dangerous like in Gen 1 or Gen 2 or whatever they're telling these fights that's like wow this this fight is ridiculous and you got like sapphire which is a 3% chance to finish a run well in this game the the difficulty and what really separates the top runners from the sort of mid tier runners is the catch routing and the catching getting used to the motion controls and things like that and those are all things that if you played the game casually you should be at least somewhat somewhat good at so definitely one of the easiest games to pick up and learn so I definitely recommend it and it's probably the easiest one to capture outside of like emulator runs and the nice thing is to like since the versions are pretty different they are pretty close in time though so like you don't really have to worry about Oh like Evie's way too fast like I should just run on Evie I gotta buy another copy of the game but you can pretty much just run or whatever you have and there's separate on the leaderboards anyway so if you wanna compare against other Pikachu runners you can or against other Eevee owners to get that version and then on the topic of the Pokemon discord we actually do have a an online marathon coming up in August advocate and myself will be doing runs in that but it's gonna be exclusively all pokemon runs and stuff and it's gonna do a much more in-depth run though he's gonna catch them all yeah it's a nice no it's not diploma so there's a hundred so there's 150 pokemon in the game 153 if you count the event Pokemon and 135 of them so only 15 Pokemon are unobtainable so we have a category called all obtainable Pokemon it's like a six hour run it's pretty crazy though you know and in those runs I would do things like catch kangaskhan and catch jinxed and all that it's funny how comparable it is the 1:24 it's like the same time and everything yeah there's actually a bit of utilization of like the catch combos and stuff to increase rare spawn rates here which is really cool now this gym is actually super interesting it took us a while to figure out the best way to approach this gym for the longest time we didn't realize if we took the movement pads in a certain way we could fight you know two trainers instead of three or three and to settle for whatever that number is yeah it's kind of weird how few trainers you fight in gyms in this Jen it's only like three or four extra trainers from gym battles it's kind of convenient though like how little overall you fight trainers compared to other runs just because of how insignificant their experiences and comparison to catching yeah hey you're pretty much already set up for the Elite Four at this point any extra fights are just flowing you them like what was it like this the Snorlax that we ran away from gives you more experience than any single pokemon and Elite Four or something like that yeah absolutely nutty yeah and if you catch change like you know 30 or whatever like even like small easy things to catch would be more XP than any of the Elite Four trainers would give yes I'm gonna do two controller battle here normally I wouldn't but this pokemon is a Nidoking that has megahorn and we have to use hydro pump against it hydro pump is 80% accurate we haven't actually used it yet I'm just gonna get a lot of utilization in the victory road but instead I'm just gonna go for scald and our next special just because you know safety reasons I mean it did by like 900 X specials I did yeah and that's generally a theme you're gonna see a lot of at the end of the game is a lot of the two controller strats aren't necessarily to go fast necessarily but they're more for safety yeah why you know risk the entire run there if you could lose three or four seconds bring in the extra trainer but he'll totally risk whatever fight you want him to for 500 US dollars specifically if it goes towards oot so this is another good example of like how blind these trainers are I'm on the same tile as this trainer but like he can't see me I was able to walk up and talk to him unfortunately you can't squeeze between the two trainers that would be a pretty cool strap but you have to fight him the other one has one Pokemon as well as the sandslash but I believe this and slash would be like a range or wooden dies so fighting the grappler is just better and then here comes the Giovanni fight I'm gonna save it for Giovanni Giovanni is one of three fights that we are going to set up an ex defense or next special defense which will boost our defence that obviously with by two stages the unfortunate thing is critical hits ignore that boost so if I get critical hit which is one in twenty four or he has flashed which is I believe one in eight because it's a increased critical hit move if he critical hits it ignores the stat boost and I'm dead so he's gonna get three chances to hit us hopefully he doesn't crit if he does we save so it's fine it's not particularly scary a fight for the old Kabutops route to yes that's gonna surprise I guess yeah with Dugtrio we did do a cool strat so but yeah I was fed by the Dugtrio which is why he gets three turns instead of only two and with the Kabutops route what we used to do was set up our X attack and then you use the Aquajet which is priority and that way didn't matter if we got out of bed we were fine yeah the Kabutops I hate are really sick moveset like you got like the the gen7 buff leech life you had Aquajet rockslide and waterfall I think was realized yep don't go chasing waterfalls yeah I play that fight one pretty well it's really scary with that duck trio cuz there's just nothing you can do if you get create you though yeah we have two more of those fights actually the last two fights in the run are we set up acts special defenses and if we get create hurts yeah so seriously hyper-v yeah same there there's the this a pretty infamous clip of me on like I was like four minutes ahead of my at the time world record and I got crit on the very last turn that the pidgeotto could or the Pidgeot could crit and it was it was heartbreaking but I've since beat that time so I'm I'm not too beat up about it let's go etiquette let's go Evie and that's all the badges alright yeah [Applause] that's another cool thing to bring up to is over the course of the not even a year that this game has been out there's been so many people that have held record at one point or another like it hasn't even been like two people fighting back and forth constantly it's been like well like two digits worth of people that are that have had record at some point yeah it's crazy like Oro's had record keys has had record I obviously have the record now I think's norms had record it at one time the channels the address I think has been low fan low retro tato like there's a ton of names a ton of people that you should just go to the let's go leaderboard check out all those runners if you like the game notion though no Shen no yeah I run this game you gotta fix that China's the Shen let's go Shen oh I think's buddy is always delicious these shadow two dogs let's go ducks way better than Shing yeah it's worth noting on this fight so we do it with rapidash Lazar second pokemon and it makes the the Pokemon order that comes out pretty consistent and that's that's a common theme like if I use just army on every fight though the order that the Pokemon come out is gonna be very consistent like I'm never gonna be surprised by something when you have rapid ash in your party sometimes he'll like send out vileplume seconds sometimes he'll send out marowak's second it really depends on who he's targeting that turn when in the old run when we allow two controller and some people were getting Aerodactyl as the the right Pokemon when you have erred act on the team's sometimes Raichu comes out second if Raichu comes out second and you are out sped by Raichu you are just in trouble so it's really consistent now that we have rapidash and second because he'll either send out marowak which we can just called or he'll send out file to them which we can just psychic this fights also a bit rougher on the pikachu version because your rival has a Jolteon instead of a ride to you which is quite a bit faster than Raichu yeah like I out sped which isn't isn't guaranteed I would check my stats on the level up before this I out sped the ride shoe so I was able to skip the X speed but in Pikachu you just never would skip the exp not anybody crazy enough to be awake for the interview that etiquette and I had earlier this is a this is around the area we were talking about trying to find sequence breaks I'll see if I can show off like what your clip was where so something I haven't done because there's really no point to doing it is you can actually actually talk to your Pokemon your ride Pokemon and it will be like oh he's looking around for some berries or something like that it says something I don't know but informative when you do that right before talking to one of these people you can sort of like get past them a little bit and the Giovanni one is right next to the entrance to Victory Road so if there was a way for us to like talk to our ride Pokemon triggers or and then get past him after that so like I'll see if I can show it off here it's like you can talk to him I'm a little bit far away but you can see like I sort of like Joel a little bit past him Keyes has a really good clip of it where he got really close to the door so that's that's one of the places where we're thinking it might be possible to like if we just gift that bad check that would say Eve I mean the Giovanni splits like a seven minute split we'd be able to save that time you be able to save that plus you could save the time from not fighting Freddie and rival because that flag would it be said exactly that's a good like in almost ten minute time saved I wonder how the game would handle it if you were able to skip it it's always weird not knowing what would happen with the games grew this fight this is another fight that he's using to controllers for safety it loses about 10 to 15 seconds generally what you would do is set up a next special attack and then go for hydro pump on the kangas gone unfortunately hydro pump can not only miss but it's a range and if you missed the kangaskhan will most likely just kill you yeah so he has crunch which does half to a little bit over half health so you have to hit set up a next special attack so doing this one controller fight it would be X special get hit by crunch then hydro pump and if you miss hydro pump or missed the range if you hit by crunch again and you'd be dead if you somehow lives he also has Sucker Punch which is a priority move and you just wouldn't live through that so it's a terrible fight to do one controller you really only do it if you need to save that 15 seconds and even if you save that 15 seconds there's a bunch of other fights here in Victory Road that can like put you to sleep and just waste a ton of time so it's like really note just never worth it it's also the first time he's really repelling he was using words almost everywhere just to catch back one but because there's so many taste spaces here really is valuable to use the repels don't want to get any more encounters so can we talk about how like TV goes Super Saiyan God and just kicks the crap out of these boulders you also annoyingly have to press a every single time you push a boulder instead of like Jen one where you just turn strength on and move into it which isn't too bad until you get to the last push I love how he's like glowing orange - yeah power he's charging up what am i cutting real quick with something sure all right so uh twitch ads actually bit Restless surprise surprise but they actually are trying to get a $5 etiquette did just go a tiny bit out of his way to pick up that full restore yeah as beastly as starmie is Agatha exists yeah her lead will paralyze you and then start blasting you with some very powerful moves that you need to be able to both heal the paralysis and heal your head points at the same time and how convenient full restores do that yeah no kidding Wow what are the chances now perfectly we actually haven't mentioned it either but there are some friendship benefits if your Pokemon is find a friendship with you so at the max threshold of happiness your Pokemon can shrug off statuses live things at one HP and they'll annoyingly start turning around and looking at you when you heal them or you know you super effective hits and that should waste a bunch of time but in Agatha's case we can actually save that turn of full restoring by having star me break out of paralysis on its own on the correct turn so maybe that'll happen Psyduck Psyduck give me all of you - oh hey he's coming along for the ride guys look at him he's just rolling to the world like I'm water type - when I think of Lorelei oh man not again not again wonderful run so we never really mentioned it so I used six rare candies total on our star me normal like world record runs actually used for so we're two levels higher than we normally would be there's a thing in this game and pretty much every Pokemon game I think we're being a level that ends in a zero three five or eight actually gives you a little bit of a boost because of the damage calculation the way like the rounding works so we're level 53 for this fight which makes two ranges actually way better in my case with my special attack they're actually not ranges at all so the lappers coming up shouts to that Lapras fan yeah the the lappers coming up here would normally be arranged for me as well as the jinx right after so luckily we were able to just one shot them and not have any worries the downside to using extra candies is you'll notice Starmie here turns around whenever i use a super effective move that's something that only happens once you hit like a hundred and fifty three friendship I think it is and normal runs don't get those turn rounds until Agatha we're already seeing them here it wastes about two seconds every time it happens and one of the main problem pokemon in the elite four is the next feed so we'll get glare turn one will set up the other one so we'll do a special X speed she'll use crunch crunch does about half health and then we'll full restore the next term which will heal us and get rid of the paralysis and then we will be able to sweep after that this is skip in the long right you look at him but Psyduck might get his chance to shine there is a chance a small chance dragon pulse hyper beam and Hydra foam hydro pump yeah don't get crit hyper beam is hyper beam is like nice but also scary hi pretty epic Chris hurts a lot but if it doesn't create and it's just like a normal move it has to work like recharge the next turn so it gets us essentially a free turn of setup yes and first a Praveen that's good yeah so now he can't attack this turn so it just sort of saves a little bit of time yeah another hyper beam was actually pretty nice here yeah ideally you actually get three hyper beams and the third one basically allows you to heal during the fight and not have to worry about menuing after so good I'm not gonna get it but does give me a free turn to set up and now I'm all set up so we sweep was psychic yeah unfortunately you can't heal during the fight this time but at the very least the setup was guaranteed by the hyper beam so it worked out pretty well yeah just to emphasize how bulky this Dragonite at the end is to even with being a little over leveled because of the extra candies we have and being set up as high as special attack as we can this dragon I still barely dies yeah it has a lot of the Avs so that helps it live a little bit yeah and so we're using psychic here like everything here pretty much is super effective against our Thunderbolt would be super effective against it but again we're trying to save those turnarounds because those are pretty slow it's like two seconds per time so also I mention I can't heal during the fight Oh oh my god come on side I've crazy strats I they'll come and then should I learn disabled today
