alright looks like the race is ready take it away runners for the pokemon gold glitchless ray ok ok what's up guys gunner maniac here okey gah gonna be doing pokemon gold today we actually have to start our run on a particular second out of the minute so we're gonna go in about 35 seconds here we'll get a countdown on that you guys already hard to reset yeah we already we're all good we're waiting on that for 53 20:55 yep okay 20 seconds yeah it's a little bit awkward with gold cuz you have to do some manipulation right away we had a bad cycle yes it's also gonna be kind of serious for the first couple minutes so the hardest part of the run in the most scary part by far is right away yeah alright so we're getting ready to start here pretty close three two one go so they've already manipulated their trainer ID to be a certain ID that's for later and they're also going to be doing a few manipulations at the start they need to get a totodile with perfect tvs the good stats Phebe's just determine how good the pokemons that is that's zero the 15 to the higher the better so what exactly are they doing with the manipulation so they're hot resetting and bunny hawk resets all the energy values get set to a predictable value and if you play Fame perfectly until a certain event you can manipulate the outcome of that event so they're gonna save and quit right before the total total Pokeball and they're gonna play Fame perfectly until they grab the total and when if it's the total doubts at that right now what exactly are they aiming for this that's famous for 15 attack 13 defense 15 speed and 15 special so perfect outside the defense yeah so way this is gonna be serious time here coming up so we'll definitely need everyone to be quiet for this yeah there's just one frame window at 60 I feel yeah [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay so they both got the Totodile bin good job now we can keep it down this could be another man depending up right away yeah so keep it down guys [Music] okay they're been through the hard part there we go good job guys that's what I mean the hardest parts with a runner right at the beginning it's a theory but now we're on track got past the worst of it the runs not gonna die yeah at the very very least so again they have to do that entire section frame perfectly zero inputs away for what they expect it's very difficult so the idea is that the the RNG starts from the same point after you hard reset the game so as long as you play perfectly you can get a consistent outcome yet but uh and then based off which frame that you start the game on yeah this part of the grass isn't worth doing a hard reset forward to manipulate you could but sometimes you get encounters here sometimes you don't it's not that bad yeah you only get usually one on an average maybe two it worse okay alright so one for Gunnar Polk I could catch up a bit if he gets no encounters on the way down they're also gonna grab the berry from the berry tree here they need that to heal later it's have a worst-case scenario kind of things yeah there's thirst unlock some scenarios where you really need that a lot of times you don't but it's just added safety for almost no cost yeah exactly and then coming up to the rival fight the rival fights kind of awkward he's always gonna lead or almost always gonna lead with growl and if he hits you with it it's pretty bad I poke out no encounters that's really good growl of course lowers your attack and then you're not doing as much damage that's pretty gross to be at sea with it and this Totodile has a bit less HP than the other Totodile that we can manipulate for so if this fight goes standard I and probably get nice ok growl fail good so that's now I'm completely safe nothing nothing can go wrong from here it but with this Totodile you generally have to risk a critical if you don't feel ya ass beat I lost critical actually you're laughs perfect rival fight for Gunnar that's kind of crazy and the few time yep yes there's two pokeman have the same speed just 50/50 who goes first so luckily Gunnar won this beat I there now let's see what happens with Polk I unfortunate so that's gonna add at least one Wow that's Oh double growl at least we don't die now yeah hopefully criticals criticals will ignore that changes so he'll quit the two growls if he does then do a lot of extra damage yes it's kind of safe if the girl happens it just slower or the double growl I should say so we have to be really really careful after we finished that rival fight about our step count because that affects what orange do we get and I'm going to set up another manip after the lab sequence here so no extra steps yeah yeah they're going to do a third manipulation there's also something that happens at the end of the manipulation if they play perfectly and is a pretty difficult frame window they can force a critical on the first turn of the first fate and that will one-hit ko the Pidgey and save two damage as well as save a turn which is really good [Music] [Applause] [Music] so we're gonna set up the manip in the same spot that we did last time the manip is made in such a way that we can use the same pads for this past and the previous path to make it much easier to react to and memorize yeah they have to say no to the catching tutorial first and then walk back unfortunately but it's definitely better that way anyway this is more serious time [Music] you'll notice I'm actually taking the same path as I did last time because I got the same frame but because we're taking a different route like exiting Cherry Grove in a different place I have to change up the ending my pet guys about to start his been them [Music] okay looks like coca is on his now and gunner mess up the critical minute too hard yeah there's quite a few tax boxes you have to click through that's pretty hard naturally Chris at the second turn of course I didn't get those for that pal yeah but Wow oh well so that's why we pick up the berry that's Pete I lost critical would have put me in a really risky situation that with healing items later on but now I have one to spare you also just learned rage which is one of the best moves especially early on in the game while we only have scratches or other attacking move so really useful move to get it's gonna be another manipulation coming up so more pride time yep Oh got a call mom yeah call mom first otherwise she calls you hi mom we should all call our moms [Music] [Music] as the polka is also gonna have to heal here [Music] okay good this new minute Boston forces them to skip the bitter berry which is a big change from older runs because that's a very good thing to have for safety anyway polka is gonna do his banette [Music] Oh messed up against [Music] I don't know what that is try one more time I noticed on I thought I had to take two extra steps if I took two steps earlier but the battle actually resets that though I was not supposed to do that we have time for some donations once he is this for that yeah [Music] just go I don't know I'm just doing okay okay I think he's just gonna take it he's dodge the spinner with him and we can get the better barian card yep okay you got the bitter berry so a couple things to mention really quick he's gonna grab the bitter berry because he missed the manipulation you also know this rage being used on every fight every time you take damage while you're using raids okay good you got no encounters every time you take damage while using rage you will raise your attack by one one stage so raychel progressively start dealing more and more damage something about the bird keeper AI as well as they'll always attacks the rage works out pretty well here because even though they have status news they can't use them so it's really good having a move that plays off of that yeah the worst thing is they missed tackle and then you don't get the rage stock and it takes longer but just delaying it actually a problem yeah so because we picked up the berry and didn't get any criticals or anything I'm completely safe for this Falkner fight with one person yeah other than that we can probably do one or two quick donations as well all right we've got $100 from mighty crow balancing Ohio everyone just had to donate during Gunners and polka guy's race good luck to both of them show us an awesome this is their work point laters they have to enter the center anyway and they also need to grab the egg to progress the story so we're gonna take the egg after we heal on pokemon center here because it only puts one pokeball in the belt instead up to having the egg in the inventory small a little optimization but it's always weird they make you heal the egg fry even though it's like you can't battle with it you have to get this leg to progressed the story you can't go to the next route without it so it looks like Boca is pretty set for Faulkner should be pretty good from here can you only die to a one in 39 crit and a crit yeah if it happens though okay can't lose now yeah and in world-record attempt so you don't have as many healing items so one critical from the pidgeotto is usually a run ending yeah gunner also grab the paralyzed bearberry there it's gonna be extremely useful for the whole game bumping okay not level eight okay that's good they went aquella something for experience this works out really well for gunner gets his experience here terrain she has a variable stats so it can die in one hit but using rage there for the shorter text yeah it actually doesn't even save time but I like to say I like to stay fresh on my move switches it's the exact same number of frames to switch from scratch to rage to finish something off but for like if you were to switch to water gun to rage water gun has more characters so it is actually faster now because they don't have the I think both of you have the same Totodile as well did either if you get the 13 okay you both of the worst monster yeah so they got the worst of the two tiger dials which will change some of the battles this being one of them with the other Totodile they would use rage here because they'd have a chance that you hit the zoo back but instead they'll have to go for a three shot here and that's the worst thing this new back can do confuse them that's unfortunate not good definitely off to --safe now yeah luckily for polka he does have the better very critical hopefully just snaps here yeah hopefully okay not to that that was that was getting a little scary yeah there is an extra super potion you can pick up though yeah which I'm probably probably gonna pick it up here so we'll see if poke I guess his encounter the fight they do next will deter like be determined by if they get an encounter or not because they need to make up some experience and poke I did get an encounter let's see if it's good enough [Music] unfortunate yeah gonna have to run from that punished got an encounter cuz I picked up a super potion but yeah how it goes you would normally walk up the trainers as well in assembling them walk to you because making trainers walk to you has an animation that's slower but when you're gonna have to walk through the grass or a cave for example to talk to the trainer it's better to just let them come to you that's why they do that for these trainers yeah Gunners gonna stay for the Goldeen despite it's terrifying yeah the better Totodile feet eyes the Goldeen here which can help a lot but um and he might think he's thinking this is a pokemon speedrun why are you fighting an extra trainer but the wild encounter that I killed plus the experience from this Goldeen gives us water gun and we're about to go into union cave where there's a lot of rock pokémon so there's the bitter berry for poke guy it's really nice he had it but kind of unfortunately used it there yeah there's so many places that get confused on the split yeah I think there's like six do bats or something and the Goldeen if you faith it but not really bad unfortunate - - defense really ease it through here okay critical snap come on big guy go wow really lucky for gunner they're okay if you say before a fight and take me a damage that usually means that went very well yeah okay oh good for a thought guy he got the hot pepper fortunately up this hoppip has a one in three chance of using synthesis which will restore its HP alright pretty nice okay good all right so now he can do the Goldeen fight instead of the slower Onix plate um so now this Onix fight if I this is the spinner the first actual spinner were for passing in the run so he spins around if he looks at me I gotta fight him all the old mail yes spinners spin randomly you may have noticed a guy who is rotating the gunner walked past there's two kinds of trainers that spin around there's rotators and spinners the rotators are always in those directions I was lucky he has two frames to hit you there yeah so the rotators are completely free to dodge but the spinners are kind of crazy there's a lot of in-depth mechanics to them so we'll get to see those later so here's the main reason why that goal dienes worth it this guy is three geodude's Oh guys having a very wrong okay okay it's gonna be another manipulator coming up for gunner which guarantees a fan through which is used for cut Wow pretty cool pack come on yeah the goldens several turns faster than the Onix oh it's worth bathing but it's a far scarier Faithie Onix been very rarely kill you so this will be the last manipulation that we do in the run it doubles as getting a cut companion as well as passing a very slow spinner oh my gosh it's really unfortunately had the bitter berries to be had used on the first do but anyway more serious time for Gunners he does this next minute [Music] ow don't please good okay thank God and that's why you say yeah it's really dumb that you have to say for that fight but you just do there's no way around that I wanna give a quick shout outs to enter pictures for finding all of these reputation setups that you see yeah yeah it is so much work to go through all the nonsense behind how the RNG works and finding pods that work on every frame and making them easy for humans to execute and I mean the manipulation I just did in the one coca guy's about to do add so much consistency to the run you pass a spinner that saves or that cost you a whole ton of time and then you get a a Pokemon to used cut with which can be a huge troll poke I got this sand shoe earlier in the cave which means he can catch this and do a different ending to the manipulation later you can also get the encounter in ko it right absolutely right yeah it's the last bin of the dogs it's also one of the scariest spinners in it if I didn't have the super potion I picked up before I would have paid for that guy too and toka guys gonna have to yeah cuz he's been so trolled to encounters already in union caves pretty rough and uh did you kill that one or did you I got this entry I can't thought it yeah there's Pokemon they're useful to ko for experience and Union cave but that is not one of them oh no like I can block here are you gonna so much left I am gonna sell mud flop [Music] you can see water gun though immediately being put to work is with rage this fights like ten turns long it's horrible for Peck I actually meant to buy sixty proportions not five but I picked an extra one up we should be fine okay grab the fool heel for some safety as well that can be used in so many places it's worth buying or grabbing yeah it's super not the ferry it's really slow to pick up actually but too many things can happen you even pick that up on most world record attempts because of how many things can status you in this game and how bad it is when it happens yeah gonna be the last to come up with poke guys though little bit just viewers time again yeah yeah [Applause] you [Music] yes it's on pause quite at the end to guarantee like he already caught the stranger so he didn't eat the watch from the regulation so you pause and just went to the next train of thought in encounter sometimes you'll also opt to get the same true encounter even if you already caught one just for some extra experience but he already got the experience from The Hobbit earlier getting supersonic there can be really scary because then he starts leech lifing and sometimes still he'll an FHP to actually tank another hit if you have a little more experience than your little 15 there then that's not a problem that is the one thing about all these encounter minutes that we don't get to KO things for experience along the way yeah that's like yeah he's gonna have to say for Anthony was too scary oh wow I was a really amazing credible yeah you can't do this fight right now he doesn't have the healing items for it so he just has to save and avoid them okay good did not greet that at least it can get kind of hard walk by some trainers early on because you don't really have the strongest Pokemon yet it's also worth noting that earlier in the run where they fought the Goldeen trainer that experience comes into play later in the run and there are other options that you could use to get that experience it's just better to do - Goldeen because you have the benefit of having water gun for Brussels with 3G oh dude yeah okay really want to get tackle there but you don't usually get a quick attack on turn two is good so now this is a really important turn because if I get confused here on - one defense and start hurting myself a lot and if I get leech life I get an extra rage stack which makes the next is about um favorable to die - one rage so really important turn nice okay that's good there's one that damaged ranges in this game your tax can't vary and how much damage they do based off of just a random role so sometimes you need to hit pretty favorable ones to get some like clutch kills so this new bat for example is a range if you got it 29 and 39 to die yeah so pretty likely but it can still survive sometimes and you'll notice again where they're not talking to some of the trainer's here in the well the encounter chance is really low in the well but it's still just worth it to let the exclamation mark go and just walk fewer tiles to not get an encounter and I know Gunnar has seen three encounters and well before which is extremely unlikely that the encounter transfer tile is 5 out of 256 so Wow I was actually supposed to go before this fight but I forgot I didn't die yeah I'm gonna get on this back though so that was a healeth loco qual which is not something that usually happens at all but I got Daniel to useful criticals and didn't take much damage from the fight that poker guys doing and they usually do a ton of damage to you he got critical by Klickitat very luckily hilt there yeah the Rattata has relatively high attack for the basic Pokemon in this part of the game on top of both of us moves having the same type attack bonus to seize a normal-type pokémon using a normal type move do we have time for some donations this board it's it's interesting to point out the fight that gunner is on you noticed there a set of twins and in gym two when you have twins like that this was before double battling said the twin that you taught two determines which Pokemon that they send out first you intentionally want to talk to the twin on the right so that you send out lady Bob first spinarak has poison steam string shot and scary face and string shot or scary face of course will lower your speed and that will give the lady Bob more chances to use supersonic so it's better to just give the lady by only one shot at supersonic then potentially two or three or more not lady about of the huge troll she'll even use supersonic if you're already confused so if you're trying to heal it off and you can just get confused again is the range that's not good after because this is the damage range I can't kill off the fur Alice okay that's lucky then I have to pick up the other full heel now but that's okay so just as a testament to how great the manip tsar and their rather how difficult they are to there are a total of eleven thinners in this game you face the first five within the past like 32 minutes of the game and you're able to manipulate to oh okay the spinner was stuck there for gunner so he opted not to save cuz he know this that in time that was pretty good yeah had been you though but yeah I just I yield to full and and the center with the spinner was stuck sometimes they get stuck for like eight seconds yeah so I should be fine here to skip the save yes fates extremely unlikely to die on it a lot has to go wrong [Music] it's a good start want our rates to get stacking ideally three from the Metapod it looks like neither runner got well encounters which is nice yeah you could say it went well man oh yeah strap in folks yeah encounters and Gentoo are ridiculous there's like 15 seconds per encounter it's really slow it's gross yeah it's really gross hey gunner is in pretty good shape he didn't get poisoned by the kikuna which is really good he just has to get the cytha range here [Music] good roll yeah it looks promising [Music] good good fight good fight for gunner huh I very much regret not saving I found a situation in my head where I died and I was like our God yeah poisoning this range or something crazy like that yeah well it would have a critical fury cutter and turned two or three plus me missing that range yeah but uh we made it yeah anyway perfect timing to evolve the croc and AH they just got fury cutter and they're gonna want to teach it right away and luckily crocodile can learn it I'm fairly certain Totodile can learn it too but Totodile just doesn't cut the mustard oh yeah not even close the next place probably one of the hardest place in the game of course they're gonna say for it it's terrifying it's mostly the bay leaf but the other two Pokemon are just really annoying and generating as well critical it's just something about early Pokemon games the rival to fight is just awful in all of them but each one has their own variety of awfulness yeah it's usually because they're rivals pretty high level comparatively and balanced if they play them early good theme goodie bath yeah truly a shame that the only move you used in the game that's not a hundred percent accurate you have to use 1/2 of what are arguably the scariest fights in the game yeah yes the fury cutters 95% accurate so it's 1 in 20 the myth hopefully we don't see it but we probably will save save save gonna also swap the leer to the top because it's slightly faster to each fury cutter and slot 1 and we'll teach bite over that - yeah just simple move management that lets you save inputs over the course of the run yep that's good so I don't have a full heal here this ghastly has hypnosis always scary huh all right Wow well it's really good pairs lookin nice he's had a pretty good gym so far he hurt a lady but - so really solid [Music] [Applause] so ideally we create this cosplay saves me a lot of a lot of trouble okay don't don't do it okay okay 30% to paralyze there that would've been my last satisfied them stop stealing item alright so here comes the bay leaf he's hit three fury cutters on it reflected that's very Norfolk okay could okay if he criticals then the ghastly will hurt the ghastly those of you that won't use supersonic so he might see it now yeah Jen to AI if you're alfie is under half turn one cackle Wow Wow no that's dead I'm likely to AI if your HP is under half the AI is significantly discouraged from using status moves and here we got status that was a good water gonna roll though I might be able to shot here but it's ridiculous than any of these Pokemon can use supersonic nother than we have any last emerald by crippled us hurt myself a confusion would have killed me about right yes better just take the safe win on the favorite you can sue profession later okay there's supersonic again this the fight will be over here because rivals way through sparing and also a reptile oh yeah though so what he has to do in this menu is kind of cool you get to do it all at once get going into the menu in this game is rather slow so it's ideal to do as much as you can each time you may need to minimize the number of times you have to it's not my full Hill burned before I have to pick this one up yeah it's funny I actually have exactly enough propel tiles with picking up her or like tiles what the repel will last for before before it runs out yeah they also have to go without their way in the forest there grab head but it's a very very good move in Gen 2 it's 70 power which is their strongest move it can flinch 30% of the time which means the opponent won't get to attack they're faster 30% of the time and it's just a good move all around because normal typing is pretty good on those things and crocodile is really high octave yeah it's unfortunate in this generation that as well as Jin's 1 and 3 the type of move that whether it's physical or special is based on the type of move that it is so literally all normal type moves will be physical all water type moves will be special nice yeah the best way to delineate between the two is if it has if Eevee has that evolution of that type it was special in gym 1 2 & 3 if Phoebe doesn't have no oh come on okay wow this is still possible I think considerable I walk that whole time without getting an encounter toka is in a bit of a weird situation here yeah I'm probably dead okay I was a critical yeah that's very much feel for Miss I don't know yeah yeah it sucks yeah there's that one in 20 chance the mist and if you miss it a bad time you're usually just dead the bay leaves razor leaf hasn't won in 2010 Stu miss too but somehow that mist is way less often yeah it seems that way [Music] something is about finally getting to goldenrod is they can grab the bike right away which is just great to have for Pokemon runs makes it move in so much faster and the bike shop owner is such a nice guy you don't even have to have a bike voucher or anything he's gonna lend it to you it would the expectation of getting it back but you'll see that you're riding around on it has done so much advertising for the shop he's gonna let you keep it spoiler alert yeah and he also says you can ride it anywhere and you iterally can't write it in this room I mean that may be why his bike shop wasn't doing so it's a good thing were there to help him out false advertising ah man something cool about Gentoo was they introduced the ability to register in a them so you can just press select to get on the bake for the rest of the run which is great because you got the menu every time you want to get on it and arguably the best innovation of all of them in my opinion okay alright poke guys through the bay leaf that's good very good again that's probably one of the scariest place in the game probably like second or third scariest yeah we've got $20 from can't be louder than the cause well if we get to Douglas for it then all right perhaps anyway coming up on a pretty scary fight here for gunner Whitney it's not the bill tank it is definitely the Clefairy Clefairy is metronome which means the Clefairy technically knows every move and you get some crazy combinations with it that just instantly kill you hopefully we don't get to see any of this there's some that kill you slowly shoutouts to storms metronome clamp and to metronome solar beam booth yeah you can't switch if you get clamped and then you just have to sit there and watch the solar bemidji it's awful yeah there's some amazing clips from all the gold runners throughout the years with this Clefairy based fury cutter now for the face it's more consistent than using rage of course that other course a fight where rage would have been good because each one of those doubles flop stocks rage but much less consistent and shin can correct me if I'm wrong on this one but if the Clefairy were to roll a one-hit ko move it would never hit because you're a higher level than it yeah it's pretty fortunate that that's the case because you'd have to worry about some of the noobs that would normally be terrifying whereas dungeon one you had to be faster than the Pokemon that you were using a one-hit ko yes based off a level in every generation past one no this is a little scary oh okay is this one hint here's no fuchsia Oh Oh what are those funky believable yeah so it does one hit never knew and that's the last time they need to use fury cutter and luckily the learning and move that they'll put right over it right now so yeah that's stomp us up 30% chance to flinch just like headbutt and if it flinches it kills all the stalks of fury cutter so you just instantly lose and then I also crit so very close to run ending there and that's why you have to say for this fight there's like 20 reasons you have to say for this fight mm-hmm when when they get the good Totodile from the manip dough you one shot that miltank without the mm-hmm so I think a couple more donations in excellent we've got $25 from toy saying shout out to shenanigans on the cows from the their real test to break records is their cause okay Mon it is worth noting both that these runners have held the world record at one point or another and gunner currently holds it for this category gunner is just doing some side stuff here we're going to be hearing what is arguably the best soundtrack in any video game ever as he goes into the game corner after picking up the K at the point case if you think lucky channels not the best song you're wrong and that's okay but it's also worth it experience wise for him to fight these trainers as that will come into play later on in the run to get edicts wants to be in the a certain level 29 by the end of the lighthouse and the experience from the golden trainer in addition to the experience from these trainers and all the other mandatory trainers is what's going to get him it right 229 if I'm not mistaken he also has to fight them anyway you have to fight them and they made the Adler now that's better for your peepee management later in the game to have them doubt of the way now and you don't actually lose any turns from doing it this way yep just a super effective text that's not a big deal at all and finally he has to go down this way anyway to get the coin case yeah he's going to use the coin case to get Abra and Abra will teleport him at two different points in the run that make it worth getting it then the first one will literally be almost directly after he gets Abra and the other one will be later on in the run once he's in Kanto the normal progression of the game would have you go north where past where he got the spear oh and there are like there's another spinner and three or four mandatory trainers that you have to fight going through that so it's just so much faster to get Abra now crystal will be do that because it's what's known as spinner heck and well it's a different words but I'm trying to keep it safe for the children so crystal would just go through there anyway because they have to go up they have to go through there twice in order to get the sport bottle which I don't know why they added that to crystal but I think they want you like see the blockade it doesn't make sense but they're like yeah I need the squirt bottle for what I don't know is neither yeah I mean you literally have a water-type pokemon you think he could just use water gun to get rid of the studio Widow but you just don't question Pokemon logic you get further and further down the hall and there's more and more inconsistency you just just enjoy the game yeah so here's the coin case gun describing it Ellison purchase the Abra which is just super helpful for the run it might look like I've caught up to gunner of it but I really haven't I'm doing this before Whitney to make the gym quite a bit safer yeah the double deposit there is really convenient because it puts his party order as such where this Bureau is in the second flaw and since he'll be using Spiro to fly himself around a lot that saves inputs by just having him in slot 2 and when we got the Whitney fate for Pope guy let's see how this goes again really scary fate hopefully it just goes huh you just don't win this the metronome get a one hit on miltank yep even without the crit so that was good and we don't have to worry about accuracy anymore for at least for lumber at all accuracy you can actually get an encounter on that last grass ball but it's not worth we're falling for it that will be the last moment of the run where they could see a wild encounter yep one tile well technically the electrodes are wild encounters but that lets up tell ya we also have Rock Tunnel movement I'm gonna go for the hard one so I might get an encounter there as well okay but the way it works is that when you fight a trainer you get four tiles of encounter immunity but if you turn then it takes one of those tiles and eats it so because turning gives you an encounter chance so you go turn one two three and then there's a fourth grass file so on that one tile you have about a nine point eight percent chance to get a an encounter yeah something else that we might want to mention is we used to shop in the goldenrod mark twice but with this route change we only shop there once and because of that we don't have any X specials they only sell X defends attacks and speeds in the first gym town of viola I was called Thank You violet so they have to kind of change how they would do this gym so they're actually use bait for most of it and it kind of changes up the order of what they're doing said normally you fight the commando girls first and you serve but this actually helps out a lot because a lot more head butts for later for the commander girls as well and serfs when they get all of them yet the turn count ends up being almost exactly the same whether you do come owners first or last for the gym so it's better to do the gym first and then you save head butts on the kimonos and you get better ranges yeah Jolteon is not a security yeah a lot of people don't know you can just get that trainer just figure that little top you have the movements really weird in this gym it's like supposed to be however the for alligators bulkier faster than the two guys that he's gonna have to fight back to back I can hit hard enough to 2-shot yeah and if you remember the Geodude fight that we got extra experience to get water gun for those those two XP marks are linked so getting one gets the other and so it's just overwhelmingly worth it to fight that extra trainer from the beginning in folding so you step that sliver above 29s the numbers work out almost perfectly yeah back in like the older days of gold sometimes he's just really bad act hitting a spinner so you get the experience just not a great pot oh her if you pause before spinners because it lets you get a feel for where they're looking and generally you can dodge them a lot easier by doing that it basically gives you perfect reaction time begin you freeze them for as long as you freeze yourself so you get time to think about do I want to take this path based on how long it's been since they spun and what the direction that they're currently facing is yeah unless you're a mad lad and you just bliss past them so this would be an amazing punch this guy does a ton of damage this is the fighting knife this is the fight I was mentioning earlier the you have to fight a Hitmonlee and then a Hitmonchan back to back with no moment to pause and deal yeah and crocodile just give bodied yeah it's awful the thing with Crocs nights lower so you don't even have a chance to flinch you have way less defense less hit points which is bad news there were very rare circumstances where you could go into that first fight with croc and all because you could still 2-shot the two shot him and get enough experience to evolve into Feraligatr but that would mean that you had hit so many spinner yeah at the run was awful at that point anyway exactly just get hit for neutral damage by normal and and those are few and far between in the few rocks that you do have to deal with in steals you do deserve yes exactly I've done and later on in the run they'll be picking up an item called the pink bow which further increases the amount of damage that abnormal type move will do but is that another 10% what does I thought it was the corny but it might be 10 well I know it's 10 in the later generations it might be 20 in this one I'm not sure yeah it just really buffs the normal tank moves and you get a lot of like these little buffs to on that's unfortunate for Pope guy Kelly's looking up it would be nuts if one of them found a shiny in this run with it now this leg he's getting the master ball from the locker you know like what if the both will happen in one room they'd be crazy okay Gunnar took the took the past there luckily polka I got past Kaylee as well the spinners are kind of the biggest time lost first time game in Gentoo cuz they just lose so much time and you hit them like there's literally only one that's useful and that was the Onyx guy that we mentioned before his name's Daniel and even if you hit him after hitting Ralph the experience is very very helpful yeah okay so this is the pretty much where all the route changes than the lottery idea where we shop yeah oh my goodness it all kind of comes together we catch this biscarrat us with the master ball and use him for Whirlpool and waterfall and that allows us to skip tons of tons of stuff well you don't have to catch poliwag you don't have to do goldenrod Mart to get the Polka doll originally you we would use the Polka doll in this run to evade the Gyarados because running from it doesn't allow you to get the red scale and you need the red scale to progress the story yes nice it all came together to skip that first goldenrod Mart visit because it's really slow going there now granted it would be faster to just chuck a ball at it it's just from full health it's so unlikely for it to get to the ball it's worth the investment of getting the master ball because you're able to do the double deposit there and yeah is Guillory worth the seven percent and it's not even that much faster to do her first two it's worth it to just do this segment first and then go fight her later when they're guaranteed to one shot each children yeah you still get a little bit of experience from each of these pans that'll add up to be a level or two and then it's just guaranteed ranges on jasmine we would go into 32 but I think you're like 35 or 36 definitely the music it makes for a very chill experience and a lot of the gym leaders flush I'll leave for members music to really like type and exciting and stuff so when you're on good pace you could kind of into it and stuff so def for me and stuff like the music for me I would also say the music is a big part also I just like it's not like too difficult except for the beginnings like once you get past the beginning I don't know you just don't really have to pay attention that much I guess it makes it pretty easy to run at least for pretty much this entire staff in the rocket segment if you haven't memorized then you can kind of tune out and talk to shot and then you come back in when it's all over focus up again I don't know it's just a nice experience yep here's $20 from bit dragon in almost all Pokemon games the brother/sister games are considered the same category so red blue is one category yellow as a separate category gold silver is one category crystals a different category the reason that we run gold is because of the Sandshrew that's the union cave that we use to to to teach them cut and use cut for the rest of the run that that encounter slot is filled with a round of time pokemon silver so there's not a very good place to manipulate and get a cutter and that that's the major reason that we use gold instead now as funny as it is it would technically be faster to run silver because you get the silver wing instead of the rainbow wing you would save three frames so technically it is faster to run in silver but there's no good way to get a cut pokemon pick up rocks smash you have to fight another rival fight the hardest mate in the game so bad if you had to do it but yeah and gold you don't you actually just don't have to do it in crystal it's forced so in this game we just skip all that entirely and we can't unlock the legendary dogs but you know you have to anyway in crystal it becomes faster and it's actually a really really cool run I these electrodes are wild encounters which means they have random stats so there are technically damaged ranges in kind of a different way than it usually is because trainers thoughts or trainers you want to take it whereas if they're not holding item it just says are you I mean I'm paraphrasing but this longer slice it's really cool the held item mechanic in this Jen even though the held items themselves are a lot less like there's not as many of them to choose from there's still some really good choices that you can make so the think there's a fantastic holiday isn't to get and and does them he wants to do some good but what's interesting is that Lance came to know his way around the entire rocket hot rod he's always one step ahead of you he's got extra healing items no one seems to be fighting his Pokemon right which isn't too too crazy on its own but then when you go to fight Lance later in the game he has three dragon eyes are all lower level than a Dragonite is supposed to evolve that so my theory is that Lance is working with Team Rocket to improve his strength and maintain his spot as the Elite Four champion with his overpowered Dragonite and and yeah he's using you as cover to get through you know to get through the rocket base and be like oh look I'm doing so much good but really really is not the weirdest thing is that it's one of his Dragon Knights is like five levels lower than what it was then red blue yellow so who knows what he's getting new dragon eyes open dude the twisted scientists called the science he did on them caused him to have to retire one of them that's a shame but I just hit that vileplume range I think I did just think you did the golbat range - I did that's dad - go back one of the more difficult ones Tuesday's pretty attempt to get a heel of Kanto is because obviously extreme speed as a priority move and does a decent bit of damage so obviously with that you always have to heal for red but since this started out of the way manip has super good defense we never get extreme speed even with perfect special so if i'm not mistaken this is the only trainer in the game if not the only trainer in the run that cheats and looks at your TVs to determine what movies ah I don't know the thought is true but maybe the world that we fight and also he sends out right on in our k9 in a random order it's better that it when he sends out ride-on laughs yeah because then you stay one input because I had to go from return surf return instead of just retired or return return return return return and then one input and I got basically if you get thundered on the actual last turn you can finish off the Pikachu heel on the Snorlax and go from there but yeah still super slow yeah and the Snorlax will be spamming bodyslam and that could potentially paralyze and really yeah we've all been there yeah it's a lot better than the old strats freeze the Venus tour yep back in the way back in the day the strat was ice punch being
