so here is what we've got today we have seven acres of CRP ground that was in CRP for 15 years that came out last fall and we were looking at getting it into a different conservation program that didn't work out so what we're gonna do is we're actually going to plant soybeans in a heavy population right through the sod on there before we kill it off so we're not going to till it at all I'm gonna crank up those hetero cleaners we're gonna eat through the through the sod and plant it dream and see what comes there and that's the way we're going to handle this because I think if we till it those root balls are going to be too too much for us to deal with right now since it didn't get tilled last fall this will be our final seven acres that we put in and then we can finish with this planter for the year [Music] well I'm pretty confident this is the last time we're going to use this JM LC 290 seed tender so in the next week or so here keep your eyes open I'm gonna do a full review of this cart and let you know exactly what I think of this thing but for now I'm gonna go plant into some sod I guess I lied to you guys we actually have to go meet with an insurance adjuster first before we head out planting we're gonna go take a look at that 40 acres that was too muddy for us to get in all right insurance meeting is over onyx and I are gonna go plant this final seven acres and hopefully be done with the planter for the year onyx do you see that other tractor what do you think it is now what that's not the joke that's not how the joke goes I'm supposed to say what the heck is that he won't saying so we're gonna see what this does the issue like I mentioned in one of my my last videos is that this is now out of the CRP program and it's only seven acres here that we're going to see what happens alright so I'm gonna set my my header row cleaners with more pressure on them than I've ever had before see what they do I got those turned on I think I'm set to go here I'm gonna try and split this and get 15-inch rows so I'll have to come I'm technically gonna plant it twice at a half a population but I am going to boost the population up overall so here we go we're gonna try planting green I guess I'm gonna go slow because we got some gopher mounds and some really thin tree stumps that we pulled out of here you lined up on the edge here we go [Applause] which should be plenty we're supposed to be according to the monitor to record our GPS line we're going to jump out check the job it's doing here in the first hundred feet just to make sure we're getting things in there and everything looks good so the row cleaners they're doing something looks like I could use a little more pressure on them I did bump up the down pressure a lot maybe check and see here how deep we're going I wonder I better turn up the press wheels do yeah there's one right there you can see that depth about an inch and a quarter that'll work that'll be fine but I need to get the press wheels to close up better here we don't have the Copperhead or the spiked closing wheels because we never plant into anything like this onyx found a snakeskin here alright the roll cleaners they're definitely down where they're doing their job I think as rough as it is I'll maybe leave them alone they're not doing a heck of a lot where it's level but where I need them is where we've got the the bumps like this anyway so I'm going to leave those alone all right I think this is kind of cool I'm enjoying it I hope we get a crop out of this it's definitely something I've never done before boss couldn't stay away he's got to come take a look that's somebody else coming down the road yeah they're still not closing that well and we're finding some beans on top and I've got the down pressure drink I'm going to lift it up we're going to adjust it to go a little bit deeper we're finding some beans on top yet and we're having problems getting that seat trench to close so we're gonna force them in there a little more alright this theoretically should drop them about a half an inch deeper and then I think I'm going to turn up the pressure on those yet or role cleaners as well to cut through a little bit better just to force them in here the up pressure and dial up the down pressure a little bit scotchy so where we've gone already and we're coming back doing the second time around as long as I'm between the rows that works well but if I if I hit where we've already been then those row cleaners do tend to pick up some mud because I dunno there's a lot of moisture underneath this grass it is really wet underneath here which is fine for the beans that are being planted I'm gonna stick in there I'm gonna have to go get that out go on now get I had a boy all right that's it we planted green seven acres I guess some people call this squatchy planting squatchy it's not very tall for planting squatchy but i'm gonna call it that why is my number one not work now you might have to come get us anyway because the plants are old let me pulled it up yeah that figures doesn't it yeah it's like it's just won't every other function works fine I don't know what's doing every I guess how do you tell that it's not a part but how do you tell if it's that or not well it could be there'd be no way to know it's like there's no communication to fold it I'll bet you if we let it sit here a while and come back it'll fold up because it's been having problems with the markers off and on - and if you just leave it for a while and it'll just work so how do you diagnose that issue well we're gonna have to wait for that tractor to cool down or something I don't know what the deal is there's been some goofy hydraulic issues with that thing the last couple days of planting here last couple hundred acres so we'll let that thing go and sit there for a bit and I bet anything it will fold up and not be a problem but Onix left me so I figured I'd run a town trade in this old wrinkly 6:35 header for a brand new 40 foot 740 FT flex Draper I'm gonna haul it with this this JM four-wheel-drive cart as well it's gonna be awesome Wow look at the way we used to have to do things with these old 35 foot headers times have changed on can't believe we ever got anything done well you guys you guys sound great oh yeah we look great too yep yep in our voice sir mixture of Fergie and Jesus between Mary and Jesus that's I wish I thought for that yeah see if you guys are not listening to the field work podcast where Mitchell and I riff on each other like that you should be doing that that's that's funny stuff gay props to Mitchell for that one that was a good one I liked it your soil types on other farms or in soil types similar to yours and then you can tune the population you can see what yields they're likely to achieve but that's and that that benefits we've seen crew all the way up to yield gains on the order of about 17 bushels an acre I'm pretty confident that's mine right there but unfortunately I can't take the combine with it [Music] [Music] well there it is but they're not gonna let me take it home apparently the sales department department hadn't fully communicated with the service department and there's still a couple of things to add to that header so I'm not told anything home it's a very sad day I was very excited like a kid in a candy store and now my candy spilt all over the floor and mom and dad won't let me get any more since I don't have a brand-new shiny header to bring home and show you guys yet I figured I would drive by this forty acres that was way too wet for me to till in the video with the RX and the vertical tillage machine and I was going to address to the insurance situation a little bit because I had some questions on that since we tried killing this a few days ago we've actually had almost an inch of rain cumulative just in the last few days which means that this stuff is actually even wetter now underneath because we haven't had anything over 70 degrees since then so it's still cold as hot as it was out last week for a few days we're still having abnormally cold temperatures which is not helping the crops out anymore but when it comes to the insurance issue we paid for in our crop insurance policy a few months ago one of the things we paid for when we bought that policy was what's called preventative planting what that means is we have until a certain date to get our fields planted after that certain date which in our area is May 31st we are able to we have the option to elect a preventative planting which means that we can show them the field and show them the acres and let them see that that we're not doing anything funny they can come out and look at this and they can see the rest of our acres that we got in and and they can come out and look at this and then we can take a percentage of the percentage that we paid for on our insurance policy so on my insurance policy I paid for 80% if you're a farmer you're gonna understand what that means it gets a little bit complicated but basically I paid for an 80% coverage I will get fifty five percent coverage on that 80 for not planting this and I will have to come in here I'll still have the expenses in to rent and I'll still have the machinery expense into working a cover crop into this and whatever else we decide to do with it this fall if we decide to till it or if we decide to just let that cover crops it all winter and die off we haven't decided that yet but we had to figure out something with that insurance very soon because we're in between the final planting date and the final date for being able to elect the coverage on this if we waited for this to dry what happens is we can no longer elect that insurance and then it's too late to get a crop so there were some people who told me to just leave it wait for it to dry out but the downfall is that it's already the middle of June I can't plant corn or soybeans on this anymore I mean I could maybe put a really early maturity soybean in there today but it's not going to amount to a whole lot you know it's not going to cover my expenses in this area certainly so the insurance situation at 55% of my 80% also is not a money-making situation by any means but it will help cover some of the costs of my rent and my cover crop that I have into this field to this point but it's not going to be a moneymaker that is what we elected to do we took that preventative plant insurance on this 40 45 acres here it's not something we like to do you know we're farmers I want to grow a crop that's what I want to do that's that's what's in my blood I never want to take insurance on something I can't get planted I want to plant it and and to be honest with you I've never taken preventative planting before I've always gotten my acres planted so this is a kind of an anomaly for me it's frustrating but it is what it is and hopefully that helps explain a little bit of that for for some of the people that didn't exactly know what I was talking about I may as well pull in and see if the Beast will fold up still nothing what could this be honestly it's been a little quirky lately I really thought it would go but it's not going to so now we gotta figure something out obviously there's a communication issue the lines are all plugged in number one hydraulic works it just gets up it's a communication issue somewhere between computers potentially in ones in inside one of these damaged harnesses that we sort of Jimmy rigged [Music] that's all I got for today guys but I do want to say one last thing we are working on some new merchandise some new stuff that I think is going to be really cool here before the fourth of July especially so keep an eye out for that I'm going to talk more about that and some upcoming videos also the map for farm simulator 19 is also being worked on there's going to be some some bigger news on that coming we hope to have that out mid summer here so it isn't gonna be too long before we come out with that but I'm gonna have some big news on that coming up here before too long keep watching and I'll let you guys know what's going on thanks for watching we'll catch you next time alright I think this is kind of cool I'm enjoying it I hope we get a crop out of this it's definitely something I've never done before
