hey guys welcome back to my youtube channel as you can tell by the title of this video i'm going to be showing you my collection of peperomia the peperomia genus was my first favorite genus of all of the house plants that i started collecting there's so much variety and they're so easy to take care of and they're pretty hearty and they grow pretty quickly for you so that was for sure something that i was looking for in houseplants when i was first getting started about a year and a half ago since then my interests have shifted a little bit to more rare house plants and stuff but i still have such a deep love for all of my peperomia and so i wanted to show you my collection so the first house plants that i ever bought i bought one succulent echeveria and i bought one peperomia ferrore so that's a happy bee in pepperonia and over the course of the year and a half that i've had it it's turned into this i'll put a picture here of what it looked like before and this is what it looks like now i'm not sure what happened i gave this plant to my dad to keep at his office it's not unhealthy it's just all of the leaves are very thin and curly and it's trailing i think it's supposed to be a plant that goes up not down as you can see it's kind of spilling out of this pot here not really sure what happened to this but this is my pepperoni fair array my first ever pepperoni so before that peperomia fair array started doing whatever the heck it's doing i took a little cutting of it and put it into a pot to see if i could propagate and that was actually my first attempt at propagation and since then this is what it is this is a full year and a half of growth it looked like it was gonna die for a while now it looks kind of okay i don't know it's pepperoni a fair array clearly i don't know how to maintain these so that they keep what they used to look like with the big bean shaped leaves but i kind of like it and i'm okay with it so right when i was starting my plant collection so right when i was starting so when i first started my houseplant collection i ordered a box of plants off of amazon which i don't do anymore because now i know that there are much better places to buy plants i bought a box that came with ten little two inch plants and it was a great situation to get my collection started and learn what my preferences were and which plants i liked and which ones i kind of just let die because i didn't like them very much and one of the plants that i got there was this peperomia optusofolia so when i first got this plant it was just this leaf and then one more this is about a year and a half of growth and since then it's grown so much i love it so much it doesn't really need that much the soil that i have it in is this like chunky airy soil and i water it every now and then and i have it up near a grow light so this plant i realized after it gives me so much growth and so much love that i was like hmm pepperoni interesting and then every time i would go plant shopping and i would see a pepperoni i'd be like i know that these grow well for me i know that i like them let me grab that so this next plant is actually a cutting of a plant that i got from my grandmother who is now 92 years old and she has had this one single kind of plant just around the house like i'm assuming it started from one plant that she bought years and years ago and there's like four pots of it around her living room and i took a cutting of it and now it's turned into this so it was only after i discovered my obsession for peperomia that i realized that the plant that i had seen for my entire life in her living room was a peperomia so this beautiful baby is a peperomia scandan's which i didn't really know was a thing it's not very popular of a pepperomia i don't know why i think it's absolutely beautiful it puts out these big juicy heart-shaped leaves and it grows so much and i love it so much and it just makes me think of my oma every time you see it and i love her very much so then when i started going to more and more nurseries i started discovering that peperomia are everywhere and every time i would go to the home depot i would try to pick up another peperomia that i didn't have yet so one of the pepperonis that i found at home depot was this beautiful pepperoni obtusifolia red edge so you can see closer up although it is green it also has this beautiful detail of just darker red edging on the sides of it and i haven't looked at this plant up close in a long time it's actually growing a lot you know when you have like chunky plants that look like this and you think that they don't really grow that much but then you look at it and you're like wow that's thicker than it was before this is my watermelon peperomia this is such a beautiful plant i have a theme in my thinking of house plants where i see a plant i'm like no way that's real this is ridiculous why did nature ever come up with this this is one of those cases just look at that the silver detail that literally looks like watermelons i love it so much my next pepperoni is this this is a variegated teardrop pepperoni that for a while was struggling because it had all of these big leaves and then they all kind of dropped off and i thought it was going to die but since then it has started sprouting out all of this new little tiny growth and it's so cute this is a pepperoni orba verragata i thought that i was killing it but i'm not and now looking at it closely i don't know if you can see but this leaf is sparkly and they're all fuzzy and it's just really cute next pepperoni is this peperomia rosso i believe i believe it's either a rosso or a pearl this is kind of a plant that i bought because i saw at a nursery and i saw that it was a peperomia i was like i don't have that one yet and i was like okay i'll buy it but i didn't like fall in love with the plant i've since gotten better at that where i don't buy a plant just because i've never seen it before and just because i feel the need to have it but over the course of having this plant i didn't think it was doing very much but it's actually gotten a lot taller it used to be shorter but this growth is just so like solid in here so now i love it my next pepperoni is this pepperoni caparata so this is a silver pepperoni caporata or pepperoni ripple and it just has the deepest most beautiful ridges and it's silver and it's beautiful it's looking a little scraggly but from the top it looks great up next is this this is another ripple peperomia but this is a green variegated peperomia caporata you can see some of the leaves are dark green and then others are this beautiful variegated color and i don't know if you can tell but the stems are pinkish like what it's beautiful it's ridiculous i love it so continuing the ripple peperomia trend this is a red ripple peperomia and it was just getting bottom watered so it's a little drippy i remember when i first got this plant and i just looked at the leaves under a light it was insanely beautiful so it's this deep red color it's shiny with these deep ridges and i just love it so much yeah this is a red ripple peperomia the next pepperoni is this peperomia maridiana varagada so i love this pepperoni because it looks a lot like the ripple pepperonis that i just showed you but it kind of stacks like a tree instead of being like a bush shape like the others and you can see some of these leaves are freaking variegated look at how beautiful that is this is actually grown a lot also since i've had it it used to be like a little plug and then i putted it up to like a three inch pot instead of a two inch pot like the rebel that i am look at that crazy new growth on top yeah next on the list is my peperomia pink lady so i saw this one and immediately fell in love i'm not really a huge fan of pink in my life in general but something about plants being pink is just like so cool so as you can see this plant is the same kind of ripple pepperoni as the others but it has pink variegation on the inside and when i first got this plant most of the leaves were this gray color and the new growth comes in bright pink like these do it's not really bright pink it's like a pale pink like a vintage pink is that a thing millennial pink it's just so beautiful and just encourage my pepperoni habit even more so the next pepperoni that i have is this peperomia i think it's called tri-color or pepperoni a ginny or something else so this one i got from like a struggling garden center at a lowe's it's not doing great there's some browning on this edge i think i over watered it at some point but i don't know i've held on to it because it put out this brand new dark leaf with this pink edging but i don't know it's a peperomia this is another one that i bought because i was like it's a pepperoni and i don't have it i need to have it because i need to have all the pepperoni don't love it very much i love all my plants but you know what i mean some of them you have and you're just kind of like that's a plant that i have this is the next pepperoni this is a pepperoni mia grovelins gravoliens i don't know how to pronounce that pepperoni pepperoni grovelins which is a beautiful taco shaped pepperoni it's in this cool hanging pot that i got from a seller on facebook and it hangs right there and i don't know it's just really cool to see succulent type pepperoni because you can go from thinner leafed pepperoni like the caparata to pepperoni that are like chunky and like squishy looking and look like they're made of plastic i love just the diversity of the pepperoni genus big fan big fan this next one i think this next one i think is one of the weirdest and i think the most rare not botanically rare but like hard to find peperomia this is a peperomia wolfgang granny hi in another video of mine you've seen me struggle with that name for five minutes this is my o.g taco looking peperomia i got this when i went to logee's nursery for a tour and at the time i remember being like i don't know if i can justify spending 15 on a plant and now i have philodendron pink princess and stuff like that which make 15 look like nothing and this plant has decided to flower for me which is what this is so it's turned from a plant this big to a plant whatever this big and i'm just gonna let this go because these little derpy peperomia flowers these are the flowers these sticks and i'm just gonna let this go because it's doing what it wants to do you know it's living its life being a little weirdo okay up next this is another big box store plant that i bought this is a peperomia obtusifolia what used to be green variegated i don't know if you can see this leaf has a little bit of irrigation left and maybe this has a little but other than that it's kind of just reverted to a plain green peperomia which i'm fine with i think it's still beautiful it tried to flower at one point it's kind of weird kind of derpy but i love the shininess and the beautiful leaves and it's putting out new growth so this next pepperoni is definitely a work in progress this is a peperomia hope that i got from a friend of mine i see full plants of these all the time at nurseries and stuff but the one that i have is just a little cutting that i got that now i'm looking at it it has a new growth point so this is just a chopped up pepperoni hope but if you can see right there there's a new little tiny baby i don't know i killed the other one that my friend gave me so we'll see if this actually succeeds but i'm hoping it turns into something that little new growth point that's a big deal that means that i'm doing something right my next peperomia is this pepperomia frost it looks a little limp a little sad right now i just watered it so it should perk up pretty soon this is i guess a pretty new cultivar into the peperomia world in the world of house plants it also tried to flower i keep finding these dead pepperoni flowers all over the place but this is beautiful because it has these silvery leaves and this you can tell this is what happens to pepperoni when they get thirsty and it should not be that limp but i bought this peperomia at a local nursery and i love it so much it's so beautiful yeah it probably needs to be repotted i like pepperoni and terracotta better like all of these ones up here and i think it's due for a repotting what do you think this next pepperoni is another pepperoni obtusifolia this one i got because i had never seen the variegation like this before i think it's a different i think this is like a marble variegated versus the other one is just regular marinades i don't know but look at this leaf specifically that's like four different colors of variegation and it's just in general very pretty i got this at a random little plant store in the lower east side of manhattan and i love it very much i'm usually cute i need to stop talking to my plants i look like a crazy person yes this next pepperoni that i have i would consider a success story this is a parallel pepperoni that has done that i've seen that they can trail and become trailing plants i'm just kind of letting this guy do what he wants i don't know why it's a guy i just call my plants by whatever comes to mind but i had one of these that was much smaller probably this big that i got from chinatown and over watered it once and it melted and died so i got another one and this time i put it into a very very chunky soil mix so this is a lot of orchid bark very quick draining doesn't hold on to a lot of moisture and i water it very rarely and keep it in my window and my east-facing window in my room and it seems like it's doing okay and i'm happy about that because i don't want it to die because it's pretty cool right look at that these leaves are super thick like they don't bend very easily peperomia tetragona is the scientific name pink this next one is a little bit of a wild guy not like my other ones are kind of wild but this one is too this is a peperomia piccolo banda which i got from bros with hose plant shop which i think this was one of my first orders from them and it started my obsession and it's dangerous obsession now i bought this plant because these leaves are just ridiculous i didn't realize it would get so tall i thought it was gonna stay like short like my other pepperonis are but i am fine with it and this guy is flowering too because these little derpy pepperonis just try to be like other plants and put out pretty flowers but the flowers just look like that i think it's cute when they do that because they're like look at me i'm a plant pepperoni and piccolo banda this next pepperoni i think is one of the most sought after if not the most sought-after peperomias on the houseplant market this is my string of turtles or peperomia prostrata as you can see this is also flowering like crazy and it's put out all this new growth when i first got it it was just up to like here-ish and it's really now pretty long and trailing all of the look at all those flowers that's crazy all of the growth is kind of pale so i think it might need to be fertilized so i'm gonna fertilize it after this but look some of it's getting sunstressed you can see some of it's kind of red yeah this is my pepperoni prostrata or string of turtles we have made it to the final peperomia and this is my peperomia ruby cascade so i'm still figuring out the care for this guy it's going a little crazy all the new growth is kind of little these leaves the bottoms are red and the tops are green and it's a little bald and a little bit dying i need to figure out the care for this this is my really weird looking peperomia ruby cascade so the way that i care for my pepperomia is that i either have them in my east facing window or i have them under grow lights so they get a good amount of bright light i have them all in well draining potting soil if not just the soil that it came in because pepperoni can kind of freak out if you try to re-pot them as far as humidity goes they all of my plants kind of have one option for humidity and that's whatever the humidity is in my room which right now is 71. yeah the humidity in here can get up to 86 and down to 64. and that's where i keep all of my plants at that level because this is where i keep all of my plants are in this one room obviously the more humidity a plant gets the faster it's going to grow and so being in a resting humidity of 75 74 will make them grow pretty well as far as fertilizer goes i usually fertilize my plants about once a month i use the fish avulsion fertilizer which plants love so much human nostrils not so much because they smell it smells like actual rotting fish but my dog's obsessed with it so whenever my dog doesn't care about my plants whatsoever but whenever i water my plants and put that fish evolution fertilizer she like all of a sudden notices that there's plants in this room and is like okay that is it for this video thank you so much for watching i'm going to try to be uploading more regularly on this channel because i really enjoy talking about my house plants and i spend a lot of time talking to my plants as you can tell in this video so i am excited to start being more part of this community and be more talkative on my youtube channel so thank you so much for watching if you want to subscribe that's a thing okay bye you
