Patio Cover (Explained)

today i'm going to talk about the details of the patio cover project since a lot of you guys have been asking for it we initially had an existing lattice on this house which we demolished and built a covered patio this is how it turns out after the demolition of the lattice patio we kept a few members from the previous structure we kept the two by twelve ledger and the two six by six post as you can see on this frame i already had the double 2 by 6 beam attached to the existing column the columns are notched to fit the double 2x6b i connected the beams to the column with two through bolts with nuts at the back to safely secure the beams these are all the members we purchased from the local hardware store they are eight two by six that are 12 foot long eight two by three that are also 12 foot long also not shown in this picture are the three 14 foot long 2x6 for the double beam and the cover that goes to the outer edge of the rafters as for the hardware these are the two main hardwares that i use for this project simpson h1 and lru-26z along with their corresponding attachment per manufacturer's specification you also need additional items to attach the roof panels to the framing these are wood screws that are specific to roof panels which comes with the gaskets and horizontal and vertical closure strips with that said let's go back to the video so i can explain some of the things that i did on this project [Music] this is the part where i was preparing the rafters so it can fit the space perfectly i had to cut where it meets the ledger and where it attaches the beam [Music] there's one of the birds small cut that i made on the rafters [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] team [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] the next phase of this project is to cut and attach the two by three purlins in between the rafters it is actually a very time consuming and labor intensive way of installing the roof panels without proper tools the manufacturer actually allows for the direct install of the prelims right above the rafters [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] this is the last piece of 2x6 14 foot long that attaches to the end of the rafters [Music] this after we finish painting the paddle cover [Music] the roof panels has instructions online that shows how to install their product which i will link down the description below [Music] [Music] [Music] do [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] you
