greetings everyone hope all of you are having an absolutely fantastic day we're back again with more pathfinder wrath of the righteous and this time i want to walk through some of the background options i think some of you might be missing out on opportunities to be able to add some really nice things to your build before you even have to take a feed so let's go ahead and talk about it so first and foremost what are some of the things you want to consider when you're trying to pick a background well the obvious answer is that it's going to give you proficiency and skills that you might not have gotten from your class so you can click on the class button and then click on details and then over to the right it will tell you what skills actually come with the class that you selected so then you can look at the background and decide okay is there a particular skill that i want that is going to help me flesh out my overall build in addition even if you pick a background that is proficient in something that your class already gives you note that your background could potentially give you a boost in that particular area whether it be a plus one competence bonus for your skill or plus one enhancement bonus for your weapon or reducing the armor check penalty for your armor so just because a background has something that you already have doesn't automatically mean that you should just skip over it now beyond that some of them have some really cool features to them that i think you might want to be aware of so if we go into the oblate section acolyte allows you to use your wisdom instead of charisma while attempting persuasion checks so what does that mean well the only use for charisma is to either pass persuasion checks or to channel negative or positive energy so if you're not someone who can channel energy and you would prefer to use wisdom taking this background allows you to basically completely dump charisma and put those points into other attributes that help your build a lot more i like doing this a lot with the cleric that i run um that combines with angel because since i'm running a good guy party anyway i'm bringing soseo with me so sayo handles all of the healing and the energy channeling that my party needs my character is strictly focused on damage so by taking this i can completely dump charisma and put a lot more points into wisdom to make my cleric much more effective right under that is also healer this allows you to use intelligence instead of wisdom when attempting lord nature or lore religion checks i've talked multiple times about how important religion is it basically controls how much corruption you're going to take on as you're traveling away from home base so being proficient in religion is very important if you don't know whether or not you're gonna have somebody on your team who's proficient it would help for you to take on that role and this will allow you to do that easier if you happen to be running someone like a a wizard for example who's doing getting a whole lot of intelligence but not might not be putting that many points into wisdom if we go over to the re regional section the andorran diplomat gets a plus two bonus on diplomacy skill checks if for whatever reason you're running a character who focuses a lot on diplomacy and being able to persuade people this might be something that interests you the jalaxian diabolist gains a plus four dodge bonus to ac against devils i want to point this out because i know a lot of you are probably new to pathfinder and pathfinder a devil and a demon are two completely separate things all right the vast majority of combatants you face in the game are demons this plus four dodge bonus will not apply to them but it will apply to some enemies theoretically that you will end up facing just want to note that for those of you who are planning to go the necromancy route there is the gabia necromancer which is going to allow you to add plus three bonus hit points to any undead creatures that you summon so if you're trying to go for that lich if this might be a a good option to go ahead and throw at them and if you're using thrown weapons the moonwalk i have no idea to pronounce this morgan a hunter gives you a plus one bonus to damage with all throwing weapons and then finally for this section the alkenstar alchemist will give you a plus one bonus to damage what alchemist bombs and alchemist items if that happens to be the direction that you're going with your build so lots of great options here definitely worth looking through if you go to the scholar section and click on arcane it's going to automatically give you the scribe scrolls as a bonus feat now mind you you can only scribe scrolls if you actually know the spell so therefore you can't just stick this on a fighter and figure that oh you know this fighter will have my scrolls feed and they'll handle um creating all my scrolls for my team no it doesn't work that way it has to be somewhat a wizard type character so either yourself waldif nanio someone of that sort has to be the one creating scrolls for you if that's something you want your team to be able to do also if you go to scholar divine you're going to be able to get the brew potions feet again this allows you to get it from your background as opposed to having to take the feet separately while you're leveling up keep in mind that the brew potions feed only gives you potions level one through three there are up to six levels of potions you have to take a mythic feat to get the other three levels so there is an additional investment that is required if you want to be able to create the very very best potions and then the last section that i'll go over um if you choose to be a pickpocket you get a plus two bonus on initiative rolls now if you're playing real time with pause a plus two bonus on initiative you're probably not going to feel it that much like technically it'll still help your team but once that first shot goes off it's on everybody's moving everybody's attacking and you don't really feel like your team got the jump on somebody but if you're playing in a turn-based mode how much initiative you have makes a huge difference in the fight if three or four of your party members are able to get their turns before the enemy is able to react a lot of times the battle is already over so a plus two bonus to initiative rolls in a playthrough where at the very least you plan to use turn-based mode when you're going up against bosses could make a very very significant difference for you and it's worth taking and it's absolutely worth considering and that's it that's the video i just want to walk you all through some of the different options give you all some more ideas about how you could be using your bills and what might be fun for you hope you all enjoy this content if you did please leave me a like down below and
