hello everyone and welcome to learn tech in this video i'm going to show you how you can password protect your pdf file the standard edition of adobe reader cannot password protect a pdf if you have opened a pdf file and you click over protect it will show you that in order to protect or to put a password for this file you need to have adobe reader professional version and for that you need to pay but in this video i will show you two free methods how you can password protect your pdf file the first method is by using adobe reader password protect future online in order to open adobe reader future for password protect you have to search on google adobe reader password protect online and then you have to go and open this link here which says password protect or pdf online for free i'll put the link on the description below so you can just click over it and you will come directly on this page of adobe reader where you can just password protect the pdf by dragging and drop the file here or by clicking over here select the file and you can browse to the folder where it is located your pdf file i'll password protect this file here so i'll click over it here we are now we have to set a password and in this way users have to enter this password in order to open this pdf file once you have entered the password two times here and here to confirm it you just have to click here set the password in order to download the file that you just have protected you have to log in with a google account or apple or adobe account i'll log in with google account so here we are now once you have logged in inside of adobe reader you will see that the file that you have password protected is here i'll select over the file here and then on the right i will have all the possibilities that i can do with this pdf file in my case i just want to download this pdf file so i have to go at the option here download and then the pdf file will start downloading once it's downloaded i'll double click over it and here we are now it's asking me to enter a password in order to access this file i'll enter the password and here we are now that i can access the file so this was the first method how you can do that you have many other online websites where you can password protect your pdf file another one is ilovepdf.com i'll put the link on the description also it's very easy to do that once you are in the website you just have to click protect pdf and here you select the pdf file and then you enter the password and that's all that you have to do to password protect online another method how you can password protect your pdf file is by using word application so let's suppose that the file that i want to password protect is called pdf file 3 and i have located it on my desktop so now i have opened the word application and i will drag the pdf file over here and in this way i will convert the pdf file to a word document i have a video regarding that and i will put the link also in the description how you can convert a pdf file to a word document so now that we have converted the pdf file in a word document i need to go at file and then i have to click over export and here i click over create a pdf document and then i click over this button create pdf now i have the possibility to convert it back to pdf but now i can also make this pdf file password protected by clicking over this button here which says options so i click over here and at the end of the options you have here this possibility encrypt the document with a password so i click over it and then i click ok and here i enter the password that i want to have for this pdf document once i'm done i click over okay so i'll put the name pdf file three encrypt it now i have to click over publish so let's go back to the desktop and here's the file that i just converted back to pdf but now it's password protected and to verify that i just have to double click over it and here we are now my pdf file is asking me to enter password in order to access it so this were two of the main methods that you can use to password protect a pdf file for free thanks a lot for watching this video and please do not forget to subscribe thank you
