how to add a password to a PDF welcome to another gauging gadgets PDF tutorial video in this video I'm going to show you how to password protect a PDF file without having to have Adobe Acrobat and if this video helps you please consider giving it a like and also subscribing to my channel because that really helps me out so in this tutorial we're going to be using a browser-based tool which means you can follow the steps in this tutorial not only in a computer or a Chromebook you can also follow it on your iPhone or Android phone so to get started the first thing we need to do is open up a browser and navigate to adobe.com check the description I'll have it down there so you can just click it Adobe is a very large and trusted company and they actually invented the PDF so we can be sure that their site and tool is safe once you get to adobe.com go open to the top menu and select PDF and then go down under online tools and select view all tools once you select that it'll bring you here and all we need to do is scroll down all the way to the bottom and under sign and protect you'll see protect PDF go ahead and select that then just choose select a file find the PDF that you want to password protect and select it then we just need to enter the password it'll be used to unlock that PDF so I'm just going to do password so go ahead and set your password and then select set password it's then going to password protect that PDF then in order to download the password protected PDF we're going to need to sign into our Adobe account if you don't already have one you can create one here by selecting create a free account they don't require a credit card or anything it's completely free so go ahead and create an account if you need to I'm going to go ahead and log in then once you get signed into your Adobe account you'll be asked to enter the password that was used to protect the PDF so enter that and select submit it'll then show you the PDF and now we can select download in the top right to download the password protected PDF so now when I go to open the password protected PDF that we just made it's going to ask me to enter a password before I can actually view it and there you go I entered my password and I open my PDF right so that's how you password protect a PDF for free if you have any questions about this leave a comment below get back to you as soon as I can if you'd like to see more PDF tips and tutorials check the links in the description if this video helped you give it a thumbs up and please consider subscribing to my channel gauging gadgets for more Gadget reviews and Tech tutorials thank you so much for watching
