hey what do you say boys and girls that's right this is Bobby bliss from overkill and you are watching Loudwire I got to tell you my craziest Wikipedia experience and I've had this change and actually showed back up on there and I found this out doing an interview in Eastern Europe when a guy came in to the back of our bus and he asked me he said so I didn't know you were a runner I said well I'm really not a runner I like to do a lot of hiking well no you ran the New York Marathon I said one I never ran the New York Marathon he says sure you ran a New York Marathon dressed as a squirrel I know I didn't and you had sponsors and they were going to pay you so you could donate all your money that they paid you to testicle cancer but you were too drunk to finish and you fell over into a drink stand that's my Wikipedia experience true story and with that we begin the Bobby blitz episode of Wikipedia Factor fish thank you so much for coming that's an introduction absolutely all man I'm kind of sad that one's not in here find some other stuff that's good okay all right first up it says on Wikipedia that although you're known as vocalist you are also a bassist true fact okay fact cool any any bands that you played for as a bassist early on high school and in college for beer money and a squirrel suit yes the famous squirrel suit alright moving forward overkill was formed in 1980 from the ashes of the punk band the lubricants which featured rat skates in Duty Vernie fact fact alright again pretty good pretty good uh goes on to say vernian skates placed an ad looking for a guitarist and a singer which was answered by yourself and guitarist Robert piss Erick that's also a fact so so he backed yes the East Coast rocker Aquarian weekly that's where the ad was exactly that was social media back then Droid and also speaking of you know past members it says it's pretty well known Dan Spitz of anthrax was once a member of overkill that's a fact also it is yes can you tell me a little bit about how or what he brought to overkill in that very beginning stage Danny was a friend Danny and his friend Anthony Amendola became the two guitar players and Overkill's we were a cover band so really didn't bring anything except for good gear and a love of Van Halen because there was no other songs written at that time and I think that the split happened because Danny moved on to anthrax what kind of Van Halen stuff when we moved on to heavier stuff than his van Halen stuff okay let's see if we can get well here a contradiction that I've found it says after rejecting several names including virgin killer the band finally settled on overkill but it also says that you guys were originally a cover band that did go by the name the virgin killers fiction fiction part fiction part fact good the end is uh fiction okay no virgin killers yeah we liked that name and may have even done one show as virgin killer but it was believe me it was based on the Scorpion records not art okay not a promiscuity with one um DD Vernie he gave you the nickname Blitz do to your over-the-top lifestyle it is fact and fiction it wasn't just 80 Bernie I got it because of that I needed to pin something on me it was it was the age of nicknames and I said well my mother calls me Bobby but it wasn't just didi it was all the guys okay so kaya basically true basically trip uh overkill never saw any money from the overkill EP fact fact fact your honor you're actually on a label fairly legitimate label and you've still never seen a dime from that release fact gee yes I was are you allowed to talk about that or the metal storm records it was run by a guy named Dave Richards I have his address and phone number hold on it was out of California he as I said people out there and somebody he opened a garage door and there was still a bunch of overkill records in theirs how the story goes on a three-legged dog and never paid never accounted and mass-produced them and sold them around the world some but still no there's nothing I've done uh the awesome song elimination has been played at every overkill show for the last 25 years fiction fiction yes because yes and in the only reason I say I think it's been on the setlist for the last 25 years okay but there I know for sure there have been instances where people have run up during festivals going oh really keep playing we keep playing and then eventually the song goes off so and just it has to be fiction based on us being cut but a fact that it was on that atlas right it was always intended to be there correct all right cool it says on Wikipedia that you guys were happy to leave your former label Atlantic Records because the band felt that it received little or no attention from the label that's fact yeah yes what was it exactly well that times were changing you know grunge was coming in we were not the flavor of the day I mean it's you know it's one thing when somebody's picking up the phone it's another thing when you're leaving messages it's really that simple right so and that's big business and I remember story back in 93 you know we were sitting in a guy's office at Atlantic you know any guy was wearing $1,000 pierre cardin suit and you know the whole nine yards and there was Cuban cigars around and there was very expensive liqueurs over here and he was telling us the promotion plan okay and he excused himself to take phone call and I looked at DeeDee and I said we're [ __ ] guy knows long mlo What did he say was there like one line that made you just go oh I think it's a whole vibe you know I think that you know guys like us are you know we're cut from guys like you were cut from you know when a guy's from a record company is standing there and it in an exodus or death angel t-shirt or I know he understands where I'm coming from yet and I and I think that that's a given an understanding that you have between each other was I think this guy was you know this guy was the Hamptons we were Newark that's a hell of comparison 1998 you were diagnosed with a very aggressive form of nose cancer and went and underwent immediate surgery which we all know is true but the word that I want to really crack in on is immediate I mean were you literally just thrown into a know are this is a true statement I was on tour and and had something appear here of and strangest thing happened we were at a place in Atlanta and the club is still around called a masquerade well I'll be down there this coming September doing a festival called Prague power and we're with a friend he used to come out in the road with us and he met a girl and he introduced me to the girl and the girl introduced herself to me as a witch huh yeah I said nice man yeah you know see merry Christmas to you too but the point is is she puts her hands on my face and it made me feel a little uncomfortable and she said to me look me right in the eye and said you're sick go get some attention when you get home and that's all she said to me and then I say goodbye to work later on but this continued to grow for the rest of the tour and by the time I got in Hollis is about the size of a pencil eraser and this was December I was operated on in January so it took about a month in and they do biopsies etc so sore cuz I don't want to start tearing your face apart if they don't have to yeah all right so be the last trip okay true with a good witch story attack that is insane you early you were diagnosed by a witch but it's you know I you know why does she carry me into this stuff you know I'm not one of these guys who buys into this but I that's how she introduced me she touch both sides of my face told me I was sick instantly and that I need to go get some help and then they probably had a couple of beers for a half hour and I say goodbye never thought about it again until this got got bigger yeah you're at least think she would have tried to like Curie in some way right what where time is unbelievable Wow well actually kind of cool in retrospect so yeah that's a good story and then I wrote Nick roshanda shine about that yeah absolutely uh speaking of necro shine on 2002 in Germany you suffered a stroke on stage while playing that song it says the the stroke is very minor it had no lasting consequences but no cause was ever determined by doctors Jesus I I'm a mess [ __ ] get over here we tell us what this is there was a cause uh but it's genetic cause and it's it older it's a TI a which is a mild stroke my mom my mom gets him okay she still will occasionally get them it's it's a lights on lights off thing oh so it's not the cause when they said it could never be a pinpoint to a course it had nothing to do with bad blood flow or lifestyle or tobacco use or alcohol or drug use had nothing to do with this and I was stone-cold sober between 95 and 2005 and I remember when they had slow me in the ambulance the tour manager talking to the to the ambulance paramedics in German and then telling me in English I'm telling them that you're sober that there was no drugs and you so there is no cause for it it's a it's a genetic disorder okay and I've never had it repeat over this shorten year period right I'm glad that you at least know a little something about that yeah I could be terrifying even to this day if you did it not we don't know why it happened you're kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop yeah yeah all right uh last one for you right in New York City in May 2010 while you were on the Ironbound tour someone nearby attempted to blow up a car using fireworks but the show proceeded without interruption true true someone someone tried to blow up a car this was the there was a terrorist came in from from a left-wing group out but he was American citizen in Connecticut and he parked a SUV behind the Best Buy Theater okay and it had a timed fuse in it and started smoking and it was the call it's actually full gasoline and fertilizers oh right yeah and as it turns out my wife is Dutch and our drum tech was Dutch okay they're from the same area and he he had invited his family over and friends to see the show and then they were going on a kiss cruise afterwards and the Dutch friends were actually the ones who reported it to the no ways yeah so they closed down that whole area of Times Square but everybody who had gotten in could stay into the show so I think there was maybe 300 refunds we had to give back but the show went on a schedule all night so okay so so they find a car that's just swimming with gasoline covered in fertilizer or like smoking smoking yet and they don't rush you all out of the best by showing you're playing at the best by a theater there was that right we're playing at the Best Buy and there was a couple of reasons and I talked to a couple of cop friends I knew because they evacuated all the other theaters in the area but those theaters are at ground level the best spot is actually underground oh yeah and they thought to themselves that if they let the show go on but no people to come in and out from this particular time nobody would be in harm and they didn't want 2000 drunken metalheads trying to fix the situation with fertilizer and gasoline thank you so much man oh it was a great one all right all right overkill white devil armory pick it up it will kill you you
