Our cats get a full health check-up

where where you go hey guys [Music] one of your least favorite events I'll check out annual checkup and we're gonna do throw tests uh like what this will turn sound and all kind of stuff and the most difficult part for us is cast ing she's so close but this is so sad the cats they don't understand why they can't get food [Music] oh you guys all got to go to sleep today for peachy I have to do the um traditional human hunting style of walking after her for half an hour until she's too exhausted to run away anymore kind of like [Music] Halloween horror movie [Music] maybe we can use pokey she lets her go down no she shows because I've done that before and now if I walk toward her with Pokey she runs away because she knows to get her into the Hall the hall shut the door there and then it's quicker I'm trying to Corner her I'm so sorry he's so scared [Music] thank you okay make her feel better [Music] why don't you go in here it's okay baby hope you make her feel better help right hurry they go PG are you okay are you traumatized Boogie you're just hungry you're completely normal oh welcome back oh thank you yeah okay because the healthiest heart ah Nagi you so healthy good boy he's the one who by himself yeah you exercise the most you've always been the goodest boy he's so happy to be back all right so the details aside for now uh everything except the blood test they're all good okay good yep good result in a week good boy checkup results good boy Naggy is our healthiest boy because you're such a good boy and he actually follows all of our rules and he exercises all by himself and he lets us brush his teeth kinda he has the slowest heart rate because he's the most fit because he actually runs around a lot the one on the left is Haku the one on the right is Nagi yeah the bed was impressed through an exercise oh you want exercise okay let's go look at that tail Haku is our second healthiest cat Aku didn't have any problems except he needed some tartar cleaned off his teeth haku's heart rate is a little bit faster than nagi's because he is lazy and he does not like moving fast he will walk slowly and do things but he does not run anymore we have to get creative with ways to get haku's heart rate up a little bit not too much not too much just to help what was that anyway haku's results were really good too Pokey sleeping in his Sunny spot behind the curtain hi buddy Pokey is not as healthy because he's got his allergy things that um it's just a part of his life apparently [Music] right now pokey's got a really big bump under his ear from allergies just like all of the bumps that he's had previously because Pokey also has the conjunctivitis thing that makes his eyes water sometimes the Vets recommend that we don't give him steroids to treat this allergy stuff because when we do that causes the virus to act up the last time we gave Pokey steroids to treat some of his bumps um one of his eyes like almost swelled shut because of it so unless he itches his bumps to the point of them bleeding the vet suggested we leave them alone Pokey does have a bump on his spine which the vet said is probably due to his early life trauma of what we assume was getting hit by a car on the X-ray he was also able to see pokey's history of broken bones that healed from when we first found him the vet recommended that we not allow Pokey to climb vertically anymore but otherwise the bump on his spine shouldn't be an issue really look at this this is your blood test result one issue on his blood test is that his Alp is a little bit High which means his like liver is a little bit stressed maybe because he's battling the allergy stuff hmm so that recommended that we start giving him allergy food and we're gonna take him back in six months to get it tested again yours is so annoying and I love you oh I love you so much you're so loud and bumpy and weird all of my cats are my children but Pokey is my biological child PG had some results that were a little off but not too concerning peachy did however have some very bad teeth that needed to be removed these are the before photos and these are the after all of the teeth that she needed removed were on the right side of her mouth the vet said that because her right eye is her only working eye maybe she tends to like chew food on the right side of her mouth which would explain why this side is so much worse her left side only needed cleaning but you can see these lower teeth especially the roots are actually visible which must have been excruciatingly painful for her I feel so so horrible about this she will not let us brush her teeth and so it's a little bit harder to keep track of how her teeth are doing she is so much happier now that they've been removed before anytime I came to touch her like to pet her like this she would be startled even if she saw me coming and I thought maybe she was just getting skittish again but now as soon as those teeth have been removed and I compet her she doesn't jump at all so I think she was just in pain before and I feel really really horrible that I didn't notice I'm sorry peachy oh this is an unusual combination we bought some extra dental care for our cats this is like a liquid that's mostly for peachy because you can't brush her teeth yeah so we just put a little bit of this in with the water that we make her drink each vet has their own system for things but our new vet has two tiers of Health checkups we did The Higher One of course shikari which includes a blood test X-rays and chest ultrasound and since Haku and Nagi are supposedly purebred cats we also did an add-on of a heart Echo for them to check for like genetic issues with their hearts in the past just for ease of explanation I've converted 100 yen into one US dollar because they're essentially the same purchasing power in each country and it makes things really easy although technically the current exchange rate is kind of insane it's one dollar was 150 Yen for a while but I'm still just going to use 100 yen to one dollar so it's easier to understand the cost of all of this in Japan using Japanese Yen if you're like earning a Japanese Yen salary so the higher tier cost was 140 the vet visit itself was six dollars for cats we've taken in before 12 that we haven't although I thought we took in PG already to this vet but who knows six dollars to draw blood and Japan has a 10 consumption tax rate right now so the base cost was 167 dollars for the checkup with the Chic cardio set for Pokey and peachy the extra heart Echo for Haku and Nagi was an additional forty dollars and we also bought some cat crack or churu for about a dollar each so the checkup with the extra add-on for hakunagi was two hundred and eleven dollars Haku and peachy were the only ones that needed teeth cleaning the teeth cleaning started at 250 dollars it included anesthesia for putting the cats to sleep and everything the vet did have a very detailed process of noting down all of her cat's stats throughout the process of our cats being asleep and they included photos that I showed earlier poor peachy desperately needed some teeth removed it was thirty dollars for a split removal 15 for a regular removal and I also asked them to clip her nails which cost five dollars because uh trying to catch her is a I feel like it's a little bit traumatizing for her so I don't clip her nails as frequently as I clip the other cats so I just asked them to do it for her while she was in we also bought a number of dental care products for our cats and the end result was that haku's cleaning cost 288 peaches cost 443 and it was a total cost of about fifteen hundred dollars for everything of course that was only the cost for this visit we end up taking our cats into the Vet several times a year for whatever happens to concern us Pokey has gotten multiple biopsies this year nagi's gone in for stuff that I can't really remember anymore at this point Haku got some topical medication for his ear I think all of our cats got vac updated vaccinations we also give them all a preventative treatment for fleas ticks and parasites and then of course they have a number of different fancy foods all in all we spend a lot for our cats every year but uh it's okay they deserve it I think our cats are pretty happy right now and that makes us happy and that's all we need look how comfortable peachy is she's in the best spot thank you look at this look at this they're loving this Japanese cozy spot so much I'm so happy for them
