while i received both of these machines for free from working with ninja kitchens i promise to always keep these videos 100 real deal holy feel for you hi sweeties today it's the battle you've all been waiting for the original ninja foodie grill versus the new ninja foodie grill xl let's do the tail of the tape but first please whoops subscribe to sweet savant hit that thumbs up that notification bell now let's get into it so if counter space is an issue the new ninja foodie xl comes in at about 15 inches wide 15 inches deep and just about 12 inches high the original ninja foodie a little bit shorter at about 13 inches wide 13 inches deep and again 12 inches high but when you open them up and this is an issue if you are using this on a countertop with upper cabinets they both come in at just about 16 and a half inches when you open them now let's take a look at what's going on on the inside both of the ninja foodie grills have the heating elements up here on the top and covered by a screen let's pop off the screen for that ninja foodie grill original and you'll see the heating element with the fan underneath and if we come on over here to the ninja foodie grill xl let's see if i can do it from this side there we go we'll see it's got a little bit smaller heating element both the ninja foodie grill original and xl come with a high density grill grate grill grate on the original ninja foodie grill is about 10 by 10. the new ninja foodie grill comes in at about 13 and a half inches by nine inches both have a cooking pot that is removable you see the new ninja foodie grill is much more shallow at two and a half inches deep about nine and a half inches wide on the inside and 14 inches long the original ninja foodie grill has a much deeper cooking pot at about four and a half inches deep ten and a half inches wide by just over ten and a half inches wide over there both come with a grill cleaning tool and an air crisp basket both air crisp baskets are four quarts but this original ninja foodie grill air crisp basket is about eight and a half by ten inches by about three and a half inches whereas the new ninja foodie grill comes in at about seven and a quarter inches by 12 and a half by about two and a half inches deep so much shallower than the original the new ninja foodie grill xl has a temperature probe here hidden away on the side you just pull this out and unwrap it plug it in then insert the probe into your protein and close the lid down the original ninja foodie grill comes in two versions with the basic model that i have that does not have a temperature probe and then it has another more expensive model that does have a temperature probe so you have a choice there check the description box for price information let's see if each machine can handle a whole five and a half pound chicken in the airfry basket we'll pop it into the original ninja foodie grill first nope it does not close down all the way let's try it on the ninja foodie smart grill xl now pop that into the air fry air crisp basket close the lid down nope no way neither of them handle a large chicken so that's going to be a no-go let's batch pack this chicken and that just means taking the backbone out of the chicken and pressing it out flat you can use a knife or kitchen shears let's see how you do it with the knife first we're going to cut the backbone up one side of the backbone with these kitchen shears and it takes a good amount of hand strength to do that but it's pretty simple just snip snip snip right up one side and then you just do the same down the other side now doing it with a knife you know you've got to flip that open and get that knife on the other side of the backbone and push it down keep your fingers out of the way you've got to put a little force into it to break through those bones but it's not super difficult just gotta push down and cut through the skin and bones and take that backbone out you can save it for stock i'm going to season it and roast it right along with this chicken just kind of put it on the side and that's just a little snack for the chef later i'm going to crack the breastbone a bit so it will open up and lay flatter push down on that breast flatten it out and let's see if now this spatchcock chicken can fit into our ninja foodie grill oh and be sure if you get kitchen shears to get some that separate so you can wash them real good that's super important i'll put a link for those kitchen shears in the description box let's see if this spatchcock chicken will be able to fit into the airfry baskets this is from the ninja foodie grill it's a little bit wide to fit into that air crisp basket let's see if it will fit inside the ninja foodie smart girl xl's aircraft basket much too wide for that so we're not going to use the air crisp baskets we will just cut them right in the cooking pots of each ninja foodie grill now let's see how they fit into the original ninja foodie grill fits just fine it's nice and deep close is good in the ninja foodie smart grill xl let's see you got to kind of press it down to make sure it comes a bit above the cooking pot let's close the lid it closes down it is at the top of that um cooking element now let's thoroughly season that chicken i'm using my seasoned salt blend i'll put the link to that in the description box season that chicken inside outside and upside down loosen the skin of the breast and rub that seasoning around underneath the skin get it all nice and down there we're going to do the same thing with the chicken thighs we're going to loosen the skin there and sprinkle some more seasoning underneath the skin the chicken gonna be so good y'all i am really looking forward to dinner i'm gonna put these chickens i'm doing two chickens one in each put them into the refrigerator put them in ziploc bags put them in the refrigerator and then let that seasoning soak in a couple hours if that's all the time you have overnight is best it's time to get these machines fired up so we'll hit the power button we're going to use the temperature probe so you hit that probe button right there and then we're going to hit roast it'll go to 350 degrees we're going to select chicken and it's going to cook the chicken well done because nobody wants any medium rare chicken goes 350 degrees and preheats we don't have the temperature probe on this original ninja foodie grill there is one available with the temperature probe but we don't have it but we're going to go ahead and set it to roast at 350 degrees as well i'll set the time to 45 minutes but we can adjust the time you know up or down as we see fit and that will preheat as well we can go get our chickens out of the fridge let's get to cooking the ninja foodie original says add food so that's what we're going to do we're going to put some carrots underneath place that chicken skin side down and remember that back that we cut off i'm going to just roast it alongside and also there was the chicken neck put that in there and even after you roast it you can use it for stock put a garlic clove that i cut in half you can put that in there close it down and let it cook we're going to flip it later now let's go over and do the same with the new ninja foodie smart grill xl i wish i had more carrots because both of these could fit more carrots and then you have a real meal in just a one pan dish put that chicken again skin side down we've got that back then you want to make sure that it's down there nice and snug get the temperature probe in at the thickest part of the thigh and we're ready to cook let's close the lid down and see it needs a little more smashing it's not quite laying flat there it's it's a little bit it's it's a snug fit so we want to make sure that the cord for the temperature um probe is in there securely press it down a little more now let's see all right let's cook and this will tell us it'll be when it's time to flip the chicken the ninja foodie grill xl gave us the signal that it was time to flip the food you can see that temperature probe it reached 127 degrees internally and then we're gonna flip it over and let it cook more and let that skin get crisp up be sure you use tongs that have a silicon coating on the tip so that you don't scratch up the non-stick surface of that cooking pot flip the chicken over then you gotta still press it down a little more to make sure you can get it into that ninja foodie grill xl all right let's head over to the original ninja foodie grill and flip that chicken as well looks good it looks a little browner i think than the other chicken in those ninja foodie grill xl did so flip get those carrots back underneath and flip it over and let it continue to cook and let the skin get nice and crispy the ninja foodie grill xl is calling us to come get this food indicating that the chicken is done but i'm not trusting this temperature probe the chicken is looking a little pale to me so i'm gonna get my instant read thermometer and check the temperature there in the thigh and see what it says now when i stuck the my digital thermometer in it already started running the juices started running red that indicates it is not done so it's going to need some more time be sure the temperature probe is inserted properly let's check our original ninja foodie the chicken is much browner in the original ninja foodie grill um still going to check the internal temperature and see if it is done it wasn't quite done so they both needed an additional 10 minutes to cook all right after a few minutes more of cooking our chicken in the ninja foodie grill xl is done let's see if that skin is nice and crispy yeah sounds good nice and brown and uh that chicken is gonna rest and then we'll be ready to serve now let's look into that original ninja foodie grill nice golden brown color that chicken is ready and it's time to let that rest and then we can serve let's look at the side by side comparison the chicken from the original ninja foodie grill is more brown the skin got crispier the chicken in the ninja foodie grill smart grill xl is a little bit paler it didn't get quite as crispy or as brown but still done nicely let's slice into the thigh on the chicken that was cooked in the original ninja foodie grill you can see there the chicken juices are nice and clear indicating that the chicken is well cooked and now let's slice into that breast and we want to see if the chicken is juicy because that's i mean look if the chicken breast is dry then that chicken don't fly so let's see how juicy that chicken is let's give it a squeeze moist look look at the juices are running all down my arm down my fingers looks good folks and now for the chicken cooked in the ninja foodie smart grill xl again the juices in the thigh are running clear a good indication that the chicken is completely cooked now let's slice that off and now let's take a slice out of this chicken breast and see what we're dealing with oops i didn't get a good slice there but let me show you juicy it's juicy let's get that focus adjusted there we go juicy oh dripping so good still very tasty so they both did a decent job cooking the chicken i'm happy with both oh and those garlic cloves that we cooked in there look how soft and tender they've gotten if you have a little bread or something you can spread it on your bread i had a little bit of naan just spread it on there oh man talk about garlic bread delicious i love it well that is it sweeties battle ninja foodie grill versus ninja foodie grill xl spatchcock chicken the winner for me ninja foodie grill the original ninja foodie grow i like that the cooking pot is nice and deep for the ninja foodie grill xl it is quite shallow the chicken was literally pressed right against the top of this unit as it was cooking and it leaves you no room to add anything else like if you're cooking underneath it's got a nice wide pan but i i want it to be a deeper pan that's for me a better option but i've had i've got another idea listen to this what if you're cooking something nice and long and you want to cook something like a rack of ribs let's do for our next head to head booty versus foodie battle let's do a rack of ribs battle rack of ribs next please subscribe to sweet savant hit that thumbs up that notification bell and you all have a delicious day you
