Ed’s Golden Nugget Gets a Facelift!

all right this is it see if we can make this work oh yeah golden nugget last video of the old golden nugget you guys have uh clearly spoken we've heard you loud and clear 40 000 comments on a video that's pretty unheard of for us and i agree with you let's body spot this sucker randall what we're going to do is we're going to body swap it we're going to use all the good parts we can out of ed and we're going to stay with this body and go for it so we've rigged it up here what we're going to do right now is pick it up set it up on top of those and we're going to stretch this trans tunnel i'll give you a low down so this part back here is wide enough you can see that it it jogs in right here i just have to continue up that line with it and on both sides then it's plenty wide and it fits and we can set this thing on the body and marry it back together for a while so here we go all right let's do this [Music] there she the throttle is still works all right i guess we'll uh cut this out and then we'll have to redo some seat brackets to get those where they need to be then i think we'll be winning take some of this stuff out of the way here got him about to get serious earplugs spectacles light we're gonna cut some stuff maybe i'm gonna find some gloves there we go [Music] that stinks okay there's one side shuffled onto this side we'll cut it out and then we'll have to do a little notch up here in the front probably gonna have to cut up this a little bit to get it to bend over but we're getting close [Applause] [Music] not left-handed but i'm about to be that's when you need my dad here this was his side to cut he he's the left paw [Applause] oh there's that all we got to do is cut the the line down it and then we should be able to push that over and get it out of the way and set it on the frame and we'll know what we're dealing with i think the chalk line's gonna be our smart bet here we'll chalkline this so we got a nice straight line we're winning one piece down now we should be able to just cut this move that right over weld the piece back in it now we're trans tunnel fixed we'll cut this other side out real quick stretch it out look for the frame or when and now that's gonna flex right over let's get a frame in here all right this is it we see if we can make this work [Applause] [Applause] there it is [Music] four-wheel drive shifter's gonna have to get bend over to the middle that's not a big deal hit me right there gonna have to come out i'm gonna have to come clear out to my line on that side it's almost setting down on but we're hitting bell housing right there all right it's gonna have to get bent something like that something like that we pull that back up cut those bend that side as far as we need it out then we should be floor the oil pan comes underneath of it right here a little bit okay but it's missing so i think what i'm gonna do is bend me an l piece of metal that laps up a half inch on this side and a half on that side and i'll just lay it down here and weld it right in trans tunnel fixed we'll be doing donuts in this thing this afternoon sounds like a lot of steering first to do them oh yeah we gotta have a steering wheel i keep forgetting about that thanks for ruining my day right yo i guess i'll just weld we are uh harvesting i need this oh they glued that in there with like the good elmer's stuff yep we needed that we'll use it oh yeah that that's gonna make more clearance issues oh yeah that's better we got all the right mounts in the right places now everything's happy so we'll hurry cut some sheet metal we'll bend up some pieces and start tacking this thing back together still bolts in the original spot it's gonna miss the floor oh we gotta get a sign up people they just come in whenever they want everybody just walks in whenever they want whatever no transients here that's what the sign needs to say look at that she's spitting it's on tunnel's cut this is this is down on the body that's sitting down in place that is in place and the throttle pedal still fits in the original holes it's going to clear the floor it's working out oh check this out how crazy this is you said i couldn't run a tape measure you don't no i haven't run the tape maker but my hycrometer is impeccable check check that out no that can't work right no it's coming through the original hole things are gonna start coming together quick here all right so michael hooked us up with this welding helmet it's pretty awesome it's got like tons of view you can see all kinds of stuff out of it we're gonna go ahead and put it to work here and do a little welding with it see if it's decent it's called a yes welder so yes we'll try welding with it see what it is so thank you very much michael first things first let's build some metals all right we need one and a half enchiladas here so what we're gonna do is just do this i'm gonna go ahead and cut that off i learned a long time ago you just put gloves on when you're dealing with this here sheet metal stuff [Applause] one okay let's go over and i'll show you what we're making out of these [Music] there's one two pieces three pieces let's go see if we knew what we were doing this whole time oh yeah now we just got to trim them to fit we'll get after this and get her welded together is that gas on that's a big negative houston oh i'll bet it welds twice as good with some gas she was looking like a spackler there for a minute we'll weld that all in there is it bamboo we won't bore you with all of it because it's going to be kind of tedious and we'll make it we'll make it look good once it's rhino lined and covered up floors in it you'll never know it was there we're going to take these doors apart and get them ready to upholster on pop a dart here so make my nightly run in here see what you guys are doing check on your progress i think that's a roll pin too i don't know i can't find it can't see it if it is maybe we're gonna have to get onto the interweb and see if there's a secret yeah something that tells us how to get that out because i don't want to break it we actually have one extra but one you mean ed's plywood door don't have one of them on it no it does moment of truth i guess you got all the hinges off it's not bad okay guys so this door latch and the window had a little rope in i don't know if you can see that hole in there right there we got them to come out then there's just some little clips that hold that upholstery on the door we'll pop this other one off get it ready to go too i got the short straw i got this tedious sheet metal welding i got these all out where they need to be it clears now it's just a matter of welding it all back together and getting it done we'll get it all put back together she'll be good as new [Music] all right i'll show you the fruits of my labors that's welded in sites done this side is tacked i gotta finish all of it and then we'll have the floors done it's setting where it needs to be this is home you got good distributor clearance everything's working out things are looking good next product on that side tunnel is widened i'm gonna have to deal with this shifter it's a a little short i need it to come straight up instead of kick back so i'll build that tomorrow make that all fit i'll bet that's the dinner bell let's see hello hold on let me put you on speaker what's that dinner's ready that's what i was looking for that's the dinner bell we got a lot accomplished today it's late 30 i don't even know what time it is but it's dinner time randall he's a door master at this point oh yeah yeah he needs to comment how we get these windows out of here we still haven't figured that out no oh well we'll figure that out but meanwhile we're gonna go eat some dinner all right morning time again this is the project of the day front clip sounds pretty easy until you get looking at it steering box interference in this area i'm gonna have to trim the nose of this is probably gonna poke through the front right here somewhere so i gotta get this all done and make it look sanitary when it's all done so i got a lot of tedious work ahead of me to get this part of the body fitting then we can set the hood on it make sure everything's gonna clear but it looks good and then we got the task of figuring a a radiator out what we have for clearance in there so we'll get after this and see what we can get done today i'll show you what i got going that is hitting the steering box so i'm going to have to do some trimming around here and get that to set down in there get that right i got a little bit of interference down on this side but i can massage that back not going to have to cut any of that so a little bit of cutting in the front fender and we should have her she should sat down on then we can get the hood on it all right so i got a line drill on there plasma cutters out we're going to chop this sucker [Music] gonna have to come out the front right there [Music] [Music] [Music] hey look at that almost like i knew what i was doing [Applause] [Music] so i'll explain this to everybody because you're probably wondering what in the heck i'm doing here randall wasn't here this morning and i was getting gung-ho and i was going at it last night before last i remember we put the back body bolts in it to square everything up unbeknownst to me my kid took them out and the body got shifted so i didn't check i got this front end all on here and figured out where to cut this well the body wasn't square so i cut my hole and it's in the wrong spot so now i'm spending an extra hour fixing this whole front thing with this so if you're wondering why i cut a giant hole in the front of this it's because i screwed it up and that's what i had to do to fix it okay that should be able to get welded to that which technically should get welded to that which should get welded to that which should then in turn get welded to there and there and then we can straighten it all up you'll never know i screwed this up except for when you watch this video and see that i screwed it up i don't even know if landon pulled those bolts i may have pulled them back that's hard to remember i i can't remember did we have to pull it back up off of there i don't remember but i know i screwed up by not checking it this morning when i started this whole process things are going to be great i just got some welding to do [Music] but that's not the exciting part of this day you guys some of you might not know but i have a hobby that i like to do are you about to toot your own horse yes you guys i made it into a calendar but it's not what you think you're a calendar girl you guys wish i don't even know what month i am hang on what month do you think i am guys october september randall's right anyways i take pictures and uh it made it to a calendar you guys hey paul how do you feel having your wife be a calendar girl that's pretty it's pretty awesome one of my friends told me i should submit this picture so i did and it made it to our local bank's calendar i made it i've officially made it [Music] [Music] these are the mounts that go under the ends of the so we'll cut those off and get them all tacked in there nice and firm and then this front clip will be installed [Applause] [Music] bolt those on weld them down and handle weld those little tabs on right there and then i gotta take this piece of structure and we're gonna weld it back in right here and that'll make everything nice and tight again like it needs to be you didn't think i knew what i was doing did you it looks to me like you've got her handled about i think it's about planned out [Music] i think we're winning we got this massaged over where the carburetor and everything misses i think it's gonna work once the hood's on it and if it clears it looks looks to be like it's gonna clear i think we can uh we can start on some other major stuff that's not going to clear and fit like that steering column got me in there nervous it's gotta fit right in all of that mess i don't feel it hitting anything oh yeah we got room there's all kinds of clearance room for days bobby's gonna have his work cut out for him here to make this pretty yeah he's gonna love you look at that robbie you can do that i'm pretty sure robbie's gonna love him for that right there all right just got this whole girl made it back together body and frame ed's frame donor body so we had to do a whole bunch of stuff to this we had to stretch the trans tunnel out to get it to miss the transmission but we got it in got everything welded up and it's gonna work really good we're going on a road trip so we are headed northwest of us a long ways like a 13-hour journey we're going to meet an amazing lady and we're going to bring something that's awesome back with us you guys are gonna want to check this thing out stay tuned it's gonna be pretty fun ride
