today we're here with dr Markus Rogan  he's a clinical psychologist a former   Olympic athlete he's broken two world  records rogue and i reckon might win this   Rogan world record and we're honored to  have him here at the pool with us this   pool was expensive to rent so be sure you  subscribe to the channel let's get started second world record of the night and rogan  has broken the dominance of ryan lochte   and taken his world record hey guys i'm dr marcus rogan i'm a performance  psychologist today but i used to be an olympic   swimmer i got two olympic medals broke the world  record twice i also won the united nations medal   of honor for civil courage but today i need  some real courage because i want to try this   maybe seal tests i don't know i think i'm  a psychologist but today i'm really crazy dr marcus thanks for uh spending your time  with us here today god no thanks for the   invitation i'm kind of nervous about  it today we're doing the navy seal   physical screening test and we have  five events which is 500 yard swim   push-ups sit-ups pull-ups as well as the mile  and a half run i'm gonna be telling your scores   that you have to hit on each event but for now  let's dive into the swim let's do it man awesome you'll be utilizing the combat side  stroke you can either use the combat   side stroke or the breaststroke for this  evolution 500 yards which is 10 laps where   you can get your time so on my command to  go you're going to proceed three two one   go you can see the strategy in this in his face  watch the way he breathes watch the way he hits   the wall watch the way he rolls i expect  this to be about less than seven minutes   i saw a high school student swim at 6 35  on youtube so let's see if he can beat that he's finished his first lap he's at 44 seconds  right now so that's that's crazy a lap and a half   less than a minute he may hit  two laps in less than a minute this is finishing lap three one minute 45 seconds here we go marcus great starting  lap four two minutes 20 seconds   finishing lap five starting lap six  three minutes and 30 seconds guys quick   so he's finishing lap nine he has one lap left there we go that was 10 laps five minutes  49 seconds that was incredible there you   have it ladies and gentlemen five minutes 49  seconds for 500 yards congrats marcus you well   into qualification standards for the navy seal  physical screening test next up we have push-ups   all right ladies and gentlemen the second  portion of the pst is the push-ups we're doing   maximum push-ups in two minutes i like how  you're smiling you're ready for this aren't you   well the smile is actually hiding like just i  was looking at your biceps and like the size   of it i was like oh well i was not done looking  all the way around it so that's what i was like   we have two minutes of push-ups the number  to shoot for is 50 that's a passing but to   be competitive we need to shoot for about 80.  i'm gonna be ensuring that you're going down to   a proper depth so normally hands up you can  put your thumbs like this or thumb sideways   keep your back all the way straight  go all the way down all the way up   all right ladies and gentlemen i'm on command  to go we're going to proceed i'm going to be   doing them as well as marcus beside me i have jack  off camera gonna be counting marcus and i'm gonna   be counting myself hold us accountable okay are  you ready marcus yeah up position three two one go there we go a little bit faster are  you going all the way up yep you 20 yep   it's hard to talk when i'm doing  push-ups where are you at 30 yep   40. you can rest in the up position  if you need to can't let him beat me   how are we doing i'm telling  him we're at 43 seconds you can cuss we'll just bleep it out got a minute and 30. i'm suffering over here that's time golly you beat me next we have a two minute  break or two minute rest stationary and then   we're going to go into the sit-ups for the sit-ups  it is 50 reps is the minimum passing so marcus go   ahead and get down on your back and your rear  stick your feet up you proposing to me or what   proposing to take it easy put your feet together  and then you'll scoot up just a tad there we go   now the proper sit-up is demonstrated like this  so put your thumbs on your collarbones like this   perfect go down tuck your shoulder blades to the  deck okay come up and touch anywhere between your   knee or three inches down so he can touch from  his knee or three inches down elbows with your   elbows yeah there will be no kipping with the  with the elbows so keep them straight straight   up straight down okay you can rest in the down  position are you ready yeah oh my command to   go you're gonna proceed three two one go here  we go one come a little higher two three four   five six there you go seven eight nine seventeen  eighteen nine 19 20. he's got big lungs if there's   benefit to him 23 26 you can rest if you need  to 27 28 left kipping on the elbows 29 there you   go take a deep breath times at 40 seconds 41 42  43 there you go 44 less clipping with elbows 35   you got 45 looking good you're at one minute  49 50 minimum passing score achieved 51 52   less kipping less skipping 58 59 60. there we  go 30 seconds left 60 reps 15 seconds 67 68 69   there we go 70. looking good one  watch the hips don't lift the hits 72   73 three that's it two minutes that's that's  great 70 73 reps way above minimum but your swim   time so far has completely blown them out of water  push-ups were excellent sit-ups were good next is   the pull-ups we will have about a two-minute break  before the pull-ups and then we'll roll right into   it okay dr marcus next you have the pull-ups so  i'm gonna demonstrate one really quick for you   pull up is overhand grip spread your hands however  far you're comfortable with come down be sure you   lock out come up chin over the bar come back down  you're gonna rep out as many as you can before you   go to failure no time limit okay keep in mind guys  he's 230 pounds about six foot five big guy let's   see how the pull-ups are okay go ahead and mount  the bar and start pulling whenever you're ready good chin above bar two keep that chin above  boar pull up all the way three there we go   four try go a little higher five no kipping can't count that one one mark is six come on  can't count that one six you got it pull up   squeeze as far hard as you can seven come on  three more to qualify qualifying score is ten   come on marcus here i can't can't count that  one come on come on come on eight try not to kip   two more pull pull up pull up all the way all  the way all the way channel above bar chin up   bar channel bar nine one more try not to kip i  can't count them if they're kipping come on you   got it last one last one pull pull pull pull pull  pull i can't count that one can't do it nine reps   i saw the struggle in your face all right marcus  nine total reps we're still cruising along you   did not qualify for the pull-ups or we're gonna  go ahead and do the mile and a half run get your   scores and then tally it up all together and  see how well you did total so other people can   compare their scores if you're going into the  navy or you're considering a seal operator or   a special operator contract you can compare your  scores to marcus in this video will help you train   and help you get in shape for it next is the  run we're gonna wait 10 minutes we're going to   do it so this man's four-time olympian two-time  world record breaker you beat michael phelps like   twice three times three times beat ryan lochte  twice he said i beat him a bunch of times i said   is there anything else you want to accomplish  in life he said not really i've got it all he   said got all the money i want he said i've got two  sons got a wife that's good in the head and good   in the bed what else do you need he's absolutely  right i like that now we're gonna start this run   all right dr marcus we're shooting for 10 minutes  and 30 seconds on my command to go you're going to   proceed i also understand that you'll be tracking  one mile 1.5 miles on your watch so we're going to   start right here this track is 0.28 from spot to  spot so we should end up somewhere around in there   my command go you're going to receive  three two one go and he's off dr marcus   taking on the mile and a half this man is  an athlete 39 years old this man is in shape dr mark is setting a great pace one  minute 32 seconds here we go baby   this man is a machine a supreme athlete coming up and almost about to finish lap two we  have four more after this currently sitting in   three minutes in 11 seconds looking good looking  good i'm a little bit jealous of this guy i'm   a very competitive person obviously he's going  to beat me on the swim beat me on the push-ups   probably beat me on the sit-ups probably going  to be on the run i may not even post this video   because i'm embarrassed i'm just kidding this  guy's a machine i'm very i'm happy to say you   know he's 39 years old this is a testimony or  this is a testament to you guys out there that   are breaching your 40s you know 39 38 that that  is no excuse not to be fit this man is a machine about to finish lap three sitting in four  minutes and 53 seconds looking good looking good finishing lot four six minutes 30 seconds  looking great on track on target there we go six minutes 42 seconds there we go dr marcus i like saying dr dr marcus because i feel like  doctors demand a level of respect so dr marcus   is a way of showing respect so call your doctor's  doctors out there dr marcus if you refer to me   call me an idiot going on eight minutes and 20  seconds this is the fifth lap let's do it come on   come on last lap baby let's do it i'm gonna run it  with you eight minutes 26 seconds how you feeling   but you're gonna make some good time we got two  minutes to finish this last lap last lap best lap come on eight minutes 53 seconds we  have a minute and a half to finish this   looking good feeling good 9 35. here we go
