what's up everybody it's chris bumstead here what is up youtube what is up youtube got a little different video for you guys today does that mean it's recording safe to say that life is good and we're gonna finish his prep strong [Music] i think so we're on i can't see the screen oh yeah i think it is um the last little questions here um are you worried nervous like there were times during his prep where i felt like oh like is the gym gonna shut down are we gonna have to go somewhere else are we gonna have to go to the states so there were times during it where i was kind of like what's what's gonna happen but even if hit the fan we were gonna pull it off so after christopher's win last year it was it was very different because christopher won last year but he was he wasn't healthy you know what i mean he was his body was still fighting against him and i know after last year ian was very hesitant to even prep christopher again because he was like your body is not happy with you doing this like i don't want to make you sicker you know because of how the past two years had been you always had that kind of little you know inkling in the back of your mind like okay i hope this doesn't happen again i hope it doesn't happen worse like i hope you know especially when you're coming to defend a title like that i mean you know there's nothing i would hate to see more and then chris would obviously not like to you know encounter as you know not being able to defend your title to the best of your ability and i think after last year especially when you know there was kind of some split decisions split minds and critics on chris's win um you know and realistically because he wasn't nearly as best as this year we proved you you know that last year certainly wasn't even close to his best um you know that's it's rightfully so but you know we you always want to have that you know that in the back of your mind you don't want to have to worry about that right so at the start of this year my expectations obviously are to always do my best especially coming off a win last year at the olympia being mr olympia getting ready to start the new year i felt like expectations were higher pressure was a little bit higher i was expected to be the best on stage at this point the pressure was on that i had to show up looking like the best uh pretty bad hey did you walk in the background i just stuck right behind you over there how are you good all right i'm excited what's up how are you good you're good good to see you how's life good yeah yeah it's good this is pretty fun fact right now yeah yeah we've been coming earlier and there's been no one here yeah the this is actually we've been it's not been that bad they're the busiest for sure yeah i'm pumped to see you man [Music] [Music] he was in 168 last year on stage he's 181 swamps really yeah yeah everyone's like all the 15 year olds are here you know yeah yeah i'm not gonna move right now all right i'll let you do that yeah it's gonna see it yeah good to see you what is up youtube this is it this is the last workout if you can't even really call it a workout which kind of squeezed some glycogen out weigh-ins are tomorrow morning so i ain't i need nothing right now gotta make that weight but we're gonna try and do whatever i can here the gym is kind of busy a lot of young kids and i'm not in the mood to talk to anyone right now so i'm putting headphones in hat on hood on training along today ian had to come early last athlete's meeting right now so that's about it [Music] i think he kept so cool throughout it and so calm and collected that he was like all right shuts down here no matter what we're gonna make it work yeah sure it was challenging he just constantly like would pivot and then all right this isn't working go here this isn't working go here uh now we'll go here so no matter what i had full faith we and him we're gonna figure it out so i think christopher just learn to have more faith that his mind has more power over his destiny than the reverse whereas like him thinking before that he was being controlled by his body his body is controlling his mind and then that all goes down the hill i think he learned that his mind can actually control his body and however he did that with routines and meditating and like self like reflection and learning i think that made a huge difference because let's be serious things were different in terms of like food and supplementation and things like that but they weren't that different it had to be something first that allowed them to still get there and like things were pushed he didn't have to die as hard like all these things which obviously help your body like your body's not going to be as angry if it's not being pushed to the limit but they're also before ian not having to diet christopher is hard there had to be christopher's mindset that was allowing his body to react to these like less intense dieting and cardio and all these things so you want these that's what that wanna put these up to the wrist [Music] [Music] i'm oh [Music] [Music] uh [Music] yes [Music] so [Music] hey [Music] come on that's like this [Music] [Music] um [Music] thank you [Music] okay more sensitive [Music] uh [Music] okay all right folks so there will be no more gym videos until after the 2020 mr olympia it's all done it's over it's the end of the day right now gonna go a bit early because i gotta be up earlier than normal tomorrow because my weigh-ins are early i'm getting ready for the press conference and i gotta make sure that i actually make my weight tomorrow morning unless i'm 6'1 which i believe i am and then none of this even matters but we're still gunning for 2 30. so i actually just took a minor organic natural laxative so hopefully i poop myself in the morning and everything's just cleared out of me and i weigh nothing but that's pretty much what it is i'm making my salmon asparagus is in there right now and hopefully tomorrow morning i'll have like maybe some egg whites some chill go away in make way and get to eat all the carbs so very excited to be done this huge depletion i know i'm barely gonna eat any carbs tomorrow probably like 150 grams of rice but that'll feel really nice to have that a couple times so without further ado let me eat go to bed because then tomorrow will come quicker i just want to come real quick so see you guys [Music] tomorrow you know obviously there was eyes and you know eyes mean pressure and you know it really depends what you decide to do with that right i mean if you decide to crack under it like which i have before i mean tampa pro was a prime example of that you know it's a lot that kind of amounted to you know yielding one of my worst phys you know looks and it wasn't necessarily just all from you know a mental standpoint obviously there was mistakes made from a peaking perspective but you know it shows that that pressure can definitely you know have a negative impact so um you know i think chris has really learned to thrive under this pressure and i think especially you know being the defending champion and being very eager to defend that um you know i think you really use that that pressure in those eyes as a positive and i mean i i think you know eyes also like when you go back into social media you can also use it your benefit in a lot of ways too which i think you know we were able to do and utilize and you know show us like when we were training basement stuff you know show people that this is what we were doing and you know we were still making you know full use of it and not like you know like having a what was me attitude towards it and i think that might have inspired a lot of people that you know to use the very minimal not just like oh i don't have anything i'm not gonna train so you know people would find one set of dumbbells or some bands and they were still trying to you know get as much training as they could it's like okay if top level olympia guys can prep for shows in this circumstances then what am i whine about kind of thing you know [Music] no even coming into the weigh-ins i in the press conference and everything like that i didn't have a whole lot of stress or anxiety this year i was really i was genuinely looking better every single morning i woke up and i was really just excited to show the world who work i had put in i kept my final physique updates a little bit under wrap and no one really knew what i looked like no one knew the progress i that i believed i had made and i was just excited to show it off all right it's day of the weigh-ins it is nine what time is it 9 27 i weigh in sorry 30 minutes courtney drives like a crazy person sometimes so we all got to watch out but my weight on ian's scale this morning was still 2 32 so technically like you guys know my height thing i don't know but i believe it's scaled heavy so we're just gonna go for it and regardless they're taking bets on how much they think i'm actually gonna wear on their scale everyone thinks it's gonna be around like 227 228 or something like that so we'll find out very soon but i haven't eaten anything today i had one shot of espresso to try and get a little energy and a little fluid through me and stuff couldn't go poop this morning so hopefully that doesn't hit me during the athlete meeting or something but yeah a little cardio haven't eaten a thing but i got some carbs in the back for afterwards and after we're going straight to the press conference so that's gonna be the day you have to be willing to fail if you're going to trust yourself to act from the gut and then adapt as you go you know where it is oh sorry i missed the romances oh 11 50 [Music] yep beautiful [Music] all right everyone all classical z competitors please find a seat we'll begin this meeting the the hiding stuff man because i thought i was shot i've been shorter at other shows and i was taller i could have been eating food that happened to me last year we made this here again hopefully one day [Music] in tennessee they give it's not quite what i mean still not quite the wrestler they give people the option to hype like at the beginning of the year and then that's your height but i think they should just do it once and then put it on the website and then because they have everything else on the website yeah people who are like off like point one of the seven years [Applause] 26 yeah good luck uh have more right here how's it going man how you doing i get your phone for um so yeah i just weighed in or hide it in it six one and a half this year so that's it that's the end of the game putting on 10 more pounds next year this year was 2 30. next year's 240 so we got a lot of room to play with a lot of fun but first lockdown 2020. [Music] it's it's interesting for me because i feel like i see so much of ian and christopher like i see them all the time i see progress photos all the time i see crazy light i see bad light and it's the more you see of something you start to think like oh it's not that crazy you know what i mean so leading up to it as christopher wasn't we weren't sure what he was going to hide in that we had no idea so he either had to wait what 2 30 or 2 40. and we're going into this weigh-in which is the week before and he's what 232 32 or something and ian was basically saying like you can't eat any carbs which we have to deplete you not because your body looks like you need it but because you need to make a weigh-in and then i started to get nervous i'm like well why is he so much heavier than last year you know what i mean like is he in worse shape and you start kind of second guessing so there was a little bit of anxiety and 100 when he went to get weighed in i was i felt sick i was like standing in the kitchen i was like texting courtney i'm like you need to keep me updated real time because i'm gonna vomit right now and uh as soon as he hide it in at like six one and he got even at that moment when i heard that his new weight or whatever that he could be was 240 i just felt so relieved for this year but i also felt relieved for the future because i was like now for years to come like you're not stuck in a box you can grow and you can still succeed so honestly i can't lie as soon as that weigh-in was done i didn't really have any anxiety the night before he competed while he was on stage i didn't really have anxiety i was just like very excited and i knew i i almost like knew what was gonna happen so the press conference i was i was like nervous this was like i think it's because i put so much energy into watching chris like succeed at this year's olympia i was really like in his world and i wouldn't trade it for a minute because watching someone you love chase a goal reach it and feel so fulfilled is fulfilling in itself as a partner you're like like this was amazing so the whole experience of this year's olympia was a lot more intense for me um it was a lot more intense because i just think there was just so much crazy happening and and kristin really he didn't view the other competition and he didn't like look at who he was going against because he was in such his own bubble he just like let life flow and it flowed back for him like he was in complete flow and complete a state of just balance and i think that's what he could that's what he learned the most was last year he lived in more of a state of like panic and worry and stress and fear and anxiety where this year was just like i'm chilling and it was really cool to watch like two different people [Music] fire i always feel so like gi joe when i'm this skinny you look so good i die come on we're headed to the press conference right now or you won't be able to get right head to the press conference right now i had to get all snazzy they decided to switch up the dress code this year and we're not wearing tracksuits they wanted us to put on some nice clothes so we got all dressed up and we're gonna try and find our way over there no idea where we're going he's the best [Music] presenting the classic physique olympia defending champion chris [Music] former two-time champion breon and [Music] yeah it was like the difference in winning and losing that's what wanted you want to buy a mustache ladies and gentlemen from canada you're reigning defending classical league champion chris and might i add the stash is a little thicker this year that's a little thicker yes very freddy uh the singer from queen well listen we're gonna go a little back and forth there we go i can't we can't let this moment go i got brianne ansley here two-time champ he has no mustache listen clean shave and he says he did not lose by the mustache and he's going to prove it this year chris he can try it no and there's no mustache it's no fro it'll be straight up and a complete physique for sure the apples in orange apples and oranges type of thing because the physiques are not civil very different no listen and that's what makes it tough for the judges because they've got listen what's classic is classic a look is it the physique is it a combination about brienne you got beautiful lines man obviously there's a reason you won the title but you're right chris i mean he's six inches taller than you he's got the money's got the hair work in there on the whole thing it's apples and oranges what are you going to give to the judges that they can distinguish and get that title back in your pocket i'm just going to outpost i think it's just it's i'll post chris it's just not about my where is he weak where do you get the chant i get them everywhere i get them everywhere everywhere um i'm more complete i'm more uh i have a more superior physique uh from head to toe and uh it's just about displaying it correctly but first and foremost let me think uh i would be remiss if i didn't think jake and um you know tamer and dan and uh you know the olympia staffing committee i know was arduous but yet courageous uh move to coming to orlando and i'm very grateful to you guys great very grateful to you fans and supporters are following us here um you guys you know make us you guys are everything to us thank you guys so very much and we get to display our hard work and we're very grateful and all of us are to uh put it on display finally for you guys at the end of the year uh to um you know to finish this year all very very strong but back to you dan uh excuse me dan dan bob bob uh i'm almost in group uh no i i don't need to you know it's not a it's not a physique thing even though i improved in areas of my physique not a physique it's a classic physique what do you mean it's not a physique thing as far as as far as you know me taking the title he beat you last year uh he beat me because it was because of yours because of him like did you just commit off you let the door open he's stuck in there or or did he just take it from you come on give me something no i will respect the judge's decision and say that he beat me you know uh with probably three more uh poses that to my two okay no and that's what that's what it all comes down to as far as the numbers are concerned uh but i still feel uh my physique is superior again my physique is more dominant and i have more of a complete uh bodybuilding classic physique chris he's more complete what are you going to do when i came in last year and you asked me this similar question i told you classic physique hadn't found someone who had set the standard of what it was meant to look like and my goal last year i wanted to come in and i believe because it was such a new division it was still searching for someone to be at the top someone for the young kids coming up that they wanted to strive towards that standard classic physique look i showed that last year and i was young and i was not complete i was not 100 this year i'm going to show an improved version of that next to an improved version of that and that's exactly what i'm going to do i'm going to show you guys what the standard of classic beak is and going to be in the future and i'm going to set it now there's the guys that are on the stage that are going to be up there offering different looks as well well we've got a wrench to throw in there now even though we've got just a representation of the athletes here we've got the top two uh there's a little wrench in and thrown in there this year that's logan franklin now i bring that up i don't know if logan's here i hope he's here but logan is emerged as a strong contender for this title had a great year now the reason i bring this up brianna you can talk about apples and oranges and comparisons for the judges logan franklin is very very similar to chris similar height structure weight obviously you guys got the the parameters in which you have to adhere to with uh i'll wait for classic division are you worried about logan franklin because he does match up very well with the current champion not one bit and not one bit worried about not worried about anybody and i'm glad you brought that up because if you're saying that you know the the classic structure and the look is similar to chris's uh that does not coincide with me losing by one point last year you know that doesn't coincide by a shorter competitor alex cambronero wing the arno classic that doesn't coincide with uh terence ruffin coming second at the arnold classic a shorter competitor shorter than me shorter than sean i think that's hard to do so so for everybody out there talking about classic is going in a certain direction taller direction this and that think about all that think about all that and that's uh um don't just think long and hard about all that and then you know the ties are going to turn again uh saturday night anyway to a shorter classic competitor and brianne nancy so there we have it there we have it well bob let's give the champ the last word because obviously always he's the champion you got two to your credit of course uh danny history won the first one yeah what did you do differently coming into this one to make sure you walk on with that trophy this year i mean first off i'm just fired up to be here right now i'd love to be stern like silky so for that clarinet in the crowd but i'm too excited i can't have my smile it feels damn good to be back at the champ and i'm excited to be here for you guys in orlando and i know we've all had some struggles finding gyms around our city and whatnot but no struggle compared to what it must have been like moving this entire show across the entire country so i'm grateful for dan and the olympia team that we can be here right now and put on a show for the crowd at home on pay-per-view watching this super grateful for everybody and just really excited to be here be completely honest so put that out there i can't have my smile right now but different this year it was just more work to be completely honest last year was a learning process for me and it wasn't something i didn't feel like i was falling into my groove quite yet and this year i really found myself i got some advice from the champ himself to go phil heath and it was exactly what i've been doing this year told me to get to know chris the man not chris bodybuilder exactly what i've been tracing for the year kind of got more in touch with myself with my mind my mindset covers definitely helped with that putting some focus on kind of internal stuff rather than external and everything just falls into place after that so it's been something where i've been a lot focused on myself this year in my mental game and it truly feels like i'm coming in here i'm not competing against anyone everyone's here to compete against me spoken like a true champion right there chris bob's dead yeah my emotions leading up to the show this year were different than they've been in a long time because my body was responding and i was really proud of how i looked and excited to show that off that i didn't need to mute any fearful emotions so i didn't need to mute anything i just was actually calm and peaceful getting ready for this show of course having moments of like holy this happening but even for example at a weekend when i was flying there my six hour flight ended up being 18 hours by myself in the airport stuck there and i didn't stress about it i just put on an audio book i laid down in the airport put my feet up and just relaxed and was able to just be calm and peaceful through it and that was kind of like rejection of what that whole peak week was like it was just following the process my body was listening and i was enjoying it i was excited to display my package and was able to do it confidently all right kids so let's wrap on today and it feels like the work the like annoying parts it's done the low carb days the cardio they're done you just said no more cardio tomorrow i just ate a bunch of carbs anymore nighttime all right nighttime credit tomorrow when i have all my tan on and everything no but no more cardio i should have a big old bowl of oats feeling good had a few meals with 250 grams of rice and they felt good but honestly it made me more hungry because it gave my body a little food it was like i want more i want more so now i'm going to go to bed because i'm even more hungry but those oats were delicious and tomorrow will just be going by depending how i look nobody looks at me by my weight and everything i never do aggressive carb loads or anything because i often look better flat as we've discovered over the years or a little more flat than over full rather be tighter than overflow so that's the game plan as always go hour by hour even looking at me figure it out but i got my first coat of tan today also the earliest i've ever tanned darkest i've ever been going into a tan i've been laying in fake fake beds so i think i'm gonna be really dark this year i'm gonna be nice and kind of full but nice and tight and just everything's going good so far so i can't complain press conference went well i think i handled myself properly i never know when i'm sitting there if i sound like an idiot or not but i was confident what i said so it went by well and now it's time to chill tomorrow get even darker get ready for saturday so see you guys tomorrow you
