everybody thank you all for being patient with us amen on this lord's he's god praise god the first sunday here in the month of october and the year of our lord 2021 amen praise god we only have a few more months left in this year praise god we down to last two months after this month and a whole lot going on in the month of october october is uh generally known as amen breast cancer awareness month amen we want you to start wearing your pink on sundays praise the lord and representation of individuals who you may know that have breast cancer or may have had it they may have whipped it or amen they may have transitioned and gone on to be with the lord amen but they are still uh amen victorious because they receive their crown praise god also uh we also want to recognize that october is domestic violence month amen so uh october is breast cancer awareness that's your pink domestic violence month which is your purple praise the lord so we got pink and purple and also uh october is clergy appreciation month come on let's give it up for our ministers amen ministers of the gospel who serve amen diligently here in this vineyard here called oak grove truly we are grateful for this reference the reading of god's holy word uh matthew 11 verse 28 and also go ahead and stick your finger in one of paul's letters paul's letter galatians galatians chapter 6. but matthew 11 beginning at verse number 28. you'll find these words recorded i'm reading from the new living translation matthew 11 28 hear ye the word of the lord jesus is speaking he says come to me all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens and i will give you rest take my yoke upon you let me teach you because i am humble and gentle at heart and you will find rest for your souls for my yoke is easy to bear and the burden i give you is light amen go over to galatians chapter six galatians chapter six and we'll begin reading that verse number nine paul writes these words he says so let's not get tired of doing what is good at just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if if we don't give up therefore whenever we have the opportunity we should do good to everyone especially to those in the family of faith amen you may be seated amen i want to preach this morning with the dynamic aid and the diligent assistance to include the divine anointing the divine anointing of the holy spirit i want to put this tag on this text i won't preach from the subject entitled beloved i won't talk about overcoming weariness overcoming wearyness grace mercy and peace be unto you my father's children we greet you in jesus name as well as in jesus joy overcoming weariness beloved it was on the 29th of september this past week i was in my devotional and i was reading this piece from out of craig cooney's daily prophetic and he dealt with this piece called wearyness it was entitled rest for the battle weary rest uh for the battle weary and he indicated that there has of course been an ongoing uncertainty and restrictions for some 18 some 19 months but it's a little bit more than that because of everything that we've gone through he also indicated it it's a spiritual weariness i i don't know let me let me just veer just for a second i'll get back on top topic but i want to know for you those of you who are under uh under me right now that's in my presence and particularly for those that are online as well how many of you can attest that there's a there's almost a major lethargicness since we've been in this pandemic how many can attest to that have any of you really been feeling like it's just it just takes so much to do what you know what you ordinarily could do uh when you get home uh from work when you when you get home to just get ready to kind of like bring down the evening uh normally you probably could stay up till about 11 30 or midnight but when you get home eight o'clock is like shut down time for you can anybody attest to that for me on on this morning i mean that there's like a lethargicness uh with what's with what we as as god's people uh what we as the human race have dealt with over the past 18 to 19 months uh and i just wanted to know how many you can attest it it's just something that that's out there it's something that's out there that's almost like it's it's weighing you down and and you're trying to shake it you you take your vitamin c's come on help me preach you go outside and get some vitamin d y'all ain't helping me preach yeah you you walk around the block to get some cardio in and and you go to the gym to try to build up your endurance but but but just still feel a little weary come on help me preach yeah yeah yeah and and and and cooney was saying he said it it when it comes to the spiritual weariness he said it comes from the relentless attacks of the enemy or or the disappointment of prophetic words and promises not yet uh fulfilled and and or it could be the strength of of broken relationships or or or it could be the the uncertainty of uh if you will of that on the job due to the the vaccination mandates or or dealing with long-term health issues uh in your life or in a family member's life it could be a number of things that serves as compounding interest to why you might feel weary and maybe i'm preaching to the choir because uh if if nobody can say amen at least say ouch come on help me preach and the reason why and the reason why i might be preaching to the choir i might as well go and preach to myself because i don't know about you but i i i've been rearing i you know i i've been preaching to to empty pews come on help me preach and i've been preaching to the likes and now we're back in but but even though we're back in it still feels weary and and i've i've been trying to to put my finger on it i've been trying to diagnose it i i've been trying to analyze everything that's going on i say how how can we overcome this weariness weary to be where it means to literally be overcome with your circumstance that when you're overcome by your circumstance you can't see the forest for the trees and you you have no passion or no energy to want to do anything and it leaves you lethargic to the point that you do what you normally would do in a half-hearted way and because you're weary your productivity y'all ain't praying with me your productivity is not where it could and should be and thus that's why jesus said come unto me [Applause] come unto me all you who are weary and heavy burden can i can i tell you beloved that that he wants you to bring i want to put this out i want you i want you to know this he wants you to bring your burdens to him so that your burdens will no longer burden you but it can be a blessing because of the burden he he wants your burdens first peter 5 and 7 says cast all your kins cast all your cares upon him because the lord cares for you bring him bring him bring him to him psalm 55 tells us basically cast all our kids likewise just bring your burdens to the lord we used to sing a song in the church back in the day uh for those of you who are who are him hymnologist we used to sing a song and say leave it there leave it there take your burdens to the lord and leave him there if you trust and never doubt he will surely bring you out take your burdens to the lord and leave them there so i want to suggest to you first and foremost take your burdens and leave them with the lord come unto me what you need to understand is he's given an invitation to for you to be able to drop off your baggage all of us got some baggage y'all ain't praying with me you're looking at me like i'm crazy all of you got some baggage and and what the lord is saying unto unto us today uh in order for you to overcome your weariness he wants you to drop your baggage so that he can bless you in spite of your baggage because he needs you to live your life on purpose and your baggage will have you operating in self and thus it does not allow you to function on purpose because your baggage will have you thinking that you can y'all ain't praying with me it will have you thinking that you can fix it on your own and when you try to fix it you make a mess of it so that's why he says come unto me come on come come unto me all ye that are weak and heavy laden cause i'm gonna give you rest drop drop your baggage leave it leave it leave it see see many of us can't worship the lord because we're so we're so drained because of the baggage we bring the baggage which with us to church we bring the baggage with us on our jobs and and the baggage has a has an opportunity all in praying it is the baggage then causes us to have if you will a toxicity and when you have toxicity then it leads to pessimism and then your pessimism becomes poisonous and everyone that you come in contact with becomes infected because of your toxicity preach pastor spurlock i'm trying to do the very best that i can because i need you to understand in the midst of a pandemic drop your baggage [Applause] drop it drop it so he says come unto me all you that we can heavy laden and i'm going to give you rest take take my yoke take my yoke upon you and i'm gonna teach you because i'm humble and i'm gentle at heart and you're gonna find rest for your soul he says take my yoke it is drop your baggage and i'm gonna deposit tell your neighbor he's depositing he wants you to drop so he can deposit his yoke on you and therefore you don't have to be consumed with the stuff that was straightening you okay preach past the spur like i he he says he says take my yoke the yoke that i'm gonna give you i'm gonna deposit into you i'm humble and gentle but check this out the yolk that i'm gonna give you it's not gonna be burdensome it's gonna be a blessing okay okay let's see let's see come here paul come here paul paul says uh over in in corinthians he says there is no temptation unto god such as common to man y'all know that scripture uh that that and and that's just what and i just gave you a paraphrase but in essence what paul is saying god won't put too much on you than what you can bear maybe maybe maybe it doesn't resonate with you and and the reason why i say and the reason why and i'm preaching on my own context right now because i i'm just all over the place i'm all over the place and the reason why i say that because and when i think about everything that's going on because of the fact that we we're back in the building and we're trying to service and i had one of my long-term members who who's been part of this congregation for for a number of years went to see you on thursday i i could tell that when i went to see you that that the lord was taking her away from us taking her uh away from her as a matter of fact he really wasn't taking her what he had done was he had summoned her that you've done all that you can in this feeble frame and i know that you you you're getting ready uh to come home and i know that oak grove is gonna feel come on help me preach the void of you not being in there and i know that your family is gonna feel the void of your of your not being presence and and and not being present but i need you to understand that that in the midst of your baggage in the mix of your burdens i need you to know you can take your yoke take my yoke and it's gonna be easy i had watched her i know in my spirit the lord confirmed in my spirit that she's transitioning she's on her way and i said i said lord i know that miracles can happen but but god anyway any way you operate i'm going to be satisfied and then then afterwards i i i i seen her but just the day before i had gone down to richmond at mcv and i preached about it alone last week i told y'all about my my niece who's in who's in icu down at mcv and i spent about two and a half to three hours with her and she had just had oh y'all ain't praying with me she just had hip surgery on the right side and they're scheduling to have a hip surgery on tomorrow on the left side had broken bones all in her body and when they moved her she was grimacing and they said no sister spurlock we want you to yell and she she had to yell it out and i want to know is there anybody in here that's trying to overcome being weary and every now and then when you are at your wit's end when you are at your at your moment to the point that you're really to pull out your hair sometimes you just got to scream [Applause] i watched one transition one trying to heal i got another sister who's recovering from a stroke in a nursing home another sister that's going through stage four breast cancer and i i i just came to the point i'm like lord when is it to stop so it might not be fitting for you but the lord said preach it anyway he says because i need you to understand take my yoke upon you he says for my yoke is easy and my burden is light and with everything that you go through know that in the midst of it all i'm with you because i'll never leave you nor forsake you so here it is he says i need you to drop your baggage i'm going to make a deposit but then thirdly and lastly i want you to know beloved over here paul says glory to god glory to god he says so let's not get weary well-doing he said at just the right time you will reap a harvest of blessing so don't give up beloved elder grayling sneed i won't let everybody know the 64 thousand dollar response to overcoming weariness don't give up don't give up regardless of how it looks don't give up regardless of if you got more money if you got more month than money don't give up regardless of how many chemo rounds you got don't give up regardless of how much radiation they give you don't give up regardless of if your if your friendships are far and few and and your relationships have been fractured too don't give up if you don't have much food in the refrigerator don't give up am i right about it if you only got a drop of gas in the gas tank don't give up i wish i had a praying church because i need you to understand at 10 20 can i get at 11 20. i need you to understand that you cannot give up because god had invested too much into you for you to be given up on top of everything y'all ain't praying with me can i get a witness i said on top of everything i told you i told you i told you i must be cruising for a bruise because i told you i said i had a a yes a member of the church to die i i had a niece yeah that's in icu got two sisters that that are dealing with what they're dealing with and then lord help me jesus i i got to stay up all hours of the night got to read and got the right because i'm i'm trying to go to school here it is i'm getting turned 54 years old in november and i'm trying to go back to school i'm trying to figure out w what do i have to prove lord says let me tell you something because i blessed you and because i've assigned work for you i need you to know you can't stop and you cannot find yourself just content with where you are and here it is i'm i'm up all night of the hour reading y'all ain't praying with me reading and writing trying to get assignments to and praying for y'all in the same token too and i the lord told me to tell you don't give up and while i'm praying while i'm meditating while i'm focusing on the things of the kingdom i want to know is there anybody out there that's not ashamed to say pastor we're praying for you we're praying that god will give you strength we're praying that god will give you the intestinal fortitude that in the midst of it all you won't give up because god has deposited something into you so drop your baggage and look towards the heels from whence cometh your help i know that your help comes from god am i right about it that's why i get excited when paul said don't give up because in yeah galatians 6. paul says don't give up but if you go to the next book in ephesians 3 and 20. can i get a witness paul says our god he's able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask and think so well in it while in galatians 6 9 and 10 when he said don't give up you go over to ephesians 3 and 20. he told you to not give up because god's getting ready to blow your mind don't throw in the towel don't surrender stay in the race don't give up know that god he's able i said he's able he's able to fix your problem he's able to make your midnight turn into days can i get a witness he's able to make your enemies your footstool he's able yeah lord to wipe every tear from your eye he's able won't he do it he's able yes he's able he's able he's able to turn your situation around so in the midst of everything that you're going through tell somebody say neighbor don't unplug but stay reconnected and watch god move because he's able yes he is won't he do it won't he do it won't he make a way for you won't he do it won't he do it yeah lord won't he bring your family back together won't he do it won't he make those people on your job act right because favor follows you tell somebody i know that's right because david said surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and i will tell somebody i will i will dwell in the house of the lord forever go ahead and give god some glory ain't he all right ain't he all right say yeah do you love him do you love him go ahead and praise him see those who are the sanctuary should not be ashamed to praise him you wanted to come back so act like you want to be back give god some glory don't sit on your don't sit on your do-nothings go ahead and stand up and show god that you're grateful that you're appreciative that he woke you up started you on your way those who are online say i'm grateful i'm grateful because can't nobody do me like jesus and can't nobody do me like the lord because he's my company keeper he's my bridge over troubled water he's my real in the middle of the wheel he's my all in all say yes say yes hallelujah come on give god some glory give him some glory give him give him some glory do good he says don't give up but continue to keep doing good don't give up drop your baggage let the lord make a deposit so that your burden will not be burdensome but it'll be a blessing and watch the lord take all of what you've gone through and allow you to know that you don't have to give up don't give up don't give up why because he wants you to continue to keep doing good in the midst of it all let us pray father in the name of jesus i pray right now for the people of god who are here in this sanctuary those that are still online touch them lord right where they are doing amazing work do what you do lord call someone to give his or her life to you let them say yes to your will let them say yes to your way and your word calls them lord even though there's that small voice telling them go ahead give up you don't have anything to prove you've done everything you need to do but remind them lord that you have made a deposit in them and upon them that in the midst of everything that they're going through they don't have to fold up the tent and surrender bless that family god that's going through bless those relationships touch heal and deliver remove people from the bondage that has held them hostage for years and we'll be careful lord to give your name the glory the honor and the praise it's in jesus name we pray and we claim the victory for the people of god might all of god's people say amen amen and amen beloved we want to thank you for being a part of our worship experience we love you to life we praise god for you our
