that's it finally everything is done let's do one last dummy check i'm gonna miss this view the most i am excited to have less keys though at least for the next couple weeks next destination let's go oh also this was the place i called home for the last couple years nice building great people working inside shout out to zach who's no longer there anymore and chris and summer really good people only bad experience i had here someone stole my bike again i wish diarrhea upon you if you took it forever with no toilet paper now let's go i think the next food place maybe portland gonna be a fun drive making my first food stop of the day burger claim i'm about uh two hours south of seattle right now hunger pounding my stomach saw this sign these burgers look ginormous all right they only have breakfast stuff which was just scrambled eggs and pancakes this is so hard to find an actual burger for breakfast that's one thing that i guess peter griffin would say really grinds my gears the fact that for some reason like like breakfast in a lot of places is only limited to things like pancakes and eggs and sausage like who made these rules is there like a council of secret cows somewhere that i just like you know what for breakfast only take from the chicken and the pig and you know wheat anyway shout out to burger king thank you for breaking the norm fight back against the secret cow council sorry just kind of angry can i get a double whopper this is why they're the king nine am i'm eating a whopper yes this is what i'm craving there's another good reason for ordering like a regular burger at a fast food place during breakfast time you know they gotta make this fresh and this is a fresh off the grill burger that tastes good just realize for me to get to san francisco today it's going to take like 13 hours and i'm not going to get there till probably around 9 00 p.m so i can't really take that many breaks so along the way i'm just going to grab whatever is fast and there's an in-n-out burger i've had that a long time this is the second in-n-out burger i passed by the first one the drive-through line went back it looked like about a quarter of a mile i'm not even kidding this one is is relatively short i guess but it's still pretty darn long can i get two double doubles yes onions uh and mustard grilled that's it thank you so much perfect for those of you those speaking in our secret menu uh mustard grills when they put the buster on the patty then they grill it they really get animal style because i'm trying to watch my figure a little bit thank you so much that is a beautiful sight oh that's heavenly these are one of those burgers that at least for me i don't realize how much i miss it until i take a bite and i'm just like how did i go like a year without you also right now i'm listening to zach to the future of save by the bell rewatch podcast it's pretty good pretty surprised i've done like almost seven hours of driving so far so about six hours to go first of mini league of this trip is over today i drove over 13 hours i'm surprised i'm still not completely zonked out like i thought i would be oh i know why because it was daylight savings time so i actually it's one hour earlier than it is right now anyway in the bay area i'm gonna film tomorrow in oakland chinatown san francisco chinatown and then hit to la the following day i already got so much work lined up i was driving here i was getting messages left and right about stuff so gotta get some work done they gotta go to bed see you tomorrow rain stopped typically i would love rain but now when i'm gonna go eat food and most likely doing it on the hood of my car so i got here last night i was kind of feeling a little nostalgic um because the last time i was in the city i was filming a show called a view inch let me show you guys a short clip real quick there's so much more out there to taste and to enjoy this is now the biggest challenge is how do you take a bite of this a lot of you probably don't even know about this show this is a show i filmed uh wow september of 2020 when things were were super normal it was my first kind of like high production food show anyway i was just watching the san francisco episode i mean i'm a little quirky a little cheesy in the show but that's pretty much who i am anyway if you want to check out the show i think in the u.s it's on amazon prime but if you're outside of the us you can go to their website i think viewingshoe.com i'll put both of those links down below i do want to say though that this show is behind the paywall but i think they're only charging two dollars for the entire season this is not a big production cup it's not a big operation this is a really nice couple and i paid for all of this out of pocket just want to be clear it's not my production company the money's not going to me but if you do want to see me be more of an oddball on like a travel channel show esk type platform you can check it out let's go eat first up oakland chinatown [Music] of course i used to live in this area and every single time i come into the bay area it's complicated because some of the best times of my life and some of the worst times of my life are spent here if you guys remember like way back in the day i came here i was with my girlfriend i was with my best friend we were working on shows together and then um it also this is the place where it kind of all fell apart anyway i'm gonna bring some reinforcement with me today um because gonna eat a lot of food and this friend of mine black hole for her stomach what the hell so aydah eats like insane amount of food which is amazing i think i think he might i think he might at least more than me now all right so you ready for this hell yeah are you oh i didn't eat for like 19 hours so oh my god i'm gonna go it got me some stuff oh what is this he needs to know all the cool places to go in san francisco i lived here well he lived in south bay it's not the same okay everyone it's not the same i think south bay is better thanks for this from hawaii yeah you can add a picture on it and it's a magnet for your new place okay that was not easy because it's windy we spilled stuff i'm about to lick my car right now all right you ready to try this yes get that onion oh that's awesome yo these noodles i saw how bouncy they were yeah [Music] oh they're good meat is good the broth is like so light but flavorful oh my gosh that is bomb okay you know what i was eyeing when we were in there everyone was like getting all these chili sauces everyone was going for this i think this is some sort of vinegar and chilies whoa wait how is it wait can you you can't handle your spice because you're from the south i can handle a little bit oh my god look at all the peppers do it [Music] oh it kind of kicks your all right the the back of your feet definitely use some good oils how is it now you're sure you don't want to dunk the green stuff maker and the vinegar makes it so much better let's try a fish cake some random dude recommended it maybe better with some green stuff dude you eat all the all the freaking seeds are going to kill you right this is the craziest underwood episode i've ever done oh my god this really was great right i'm going to give you something we're going to go without the chili's much better try that okay it's much better oh it does right adds another dimension so good all right we saw some more lines like around that corner so we're gonna go and find out why they're in line but so far slam dunk with this right oh this place looks amazing wow oh it's so pretty it's so pretty very tender i love this sugar have you tried the rice i'll try that rice oh oh you can show freak that aroma is steeped through that rice it tastes like they steeped it with tea leaves oh that is so nice i wish there was a sauce yeah i was just gonna say we need sauce that rice is gonna taste even better with this oh my goodness oh what the hell do you put in there the best stuff on earth ah better like better than la gama much better than loud okay let's try the highline chicken [Music] how's the texture good yeah how's that like the fat gelatinous thing you're looking for it's delicious yeah i'm surprised that's really good i don't think the sauce is good too yo this restaurant is like jack of all trades [Music] so good fresh soy milk is just the best oh that's good sweet milk we just got some stuff from the shop right behind us some champion gold chinese street food couple of tea eggs and some wonton soup this is one of my favorite street foods all carbs but you know what i mean it's just carbon carb but they added a hot dog in this but there is protein in here and there's eggs and i'm gonna put another egg in my egg crepe that's like legit protein to the max yo i love tea eggs with this wrap i love it oh my gosh um all right after we eat this there's a salt like a little plaza over there full of like something let's go over there and check it out [Music] or change it up a little bit the first time you're going to a bar [Music] this is the craziest thing oh my gosh it's dripping do you see this i love it i love it you ready hmm oh my god oh my god wow and the avocado helps cut all the fat this is so bad it's bad i don't want to like taboo back the buns are just so much butter with so much meat veggies are great because they're vinegary so it cuts all that fat it's so good it needs something to definitely cut through that butter in the meat oh this is amazing really good meat is extremely flavorful it's spicy too wait what do we get do we get chorizo choose only steak steak it's not on the menu too so out of this world yeah oh there's fried cheese on here too oh my god there's toasted cheese it's a cheese skirt oh my gosh it's supposed to be to burn my face off sauce burn here you want some butter ah i'ma see you eat it first oh my god how is it it's okay what i'm not that spicy you gotta bring more than that to burn my face off there's cheese skirts on the bottom of the taco so the meat juice doesn't soak through the tortilla that cheese skirt makes it like 10 times that is just salt this taco the texture is oh my the texture is the best right wait so you never had like what uh-huh you have right the shell is crispy got that toasty cheese curd and the burst of sweetness from the tomatoes when you bite it which one do you like more i think i like fish fish right i love the fish that's really incredible on the outskirts of chinatown after you get your noodles and dumplings come get a taco in a tournament yo this is omar he's responsible for the amazing tacos and tortoise and you you just learned from your parents just walking around pretty much yes so you know following my mom everywhere uh you know pretty much all over the kitchen he used to chase me out with a spoon get out of the kitchen oh sticky rice and mango so excited for that so pretty this is what they what they said was the best dish in their restaurant and i love how saucy it is look at the sauce oozing into the rice all right ready for this i'm ready for this how's that it's good it's pretty sweet but it's good and it has like a charred flavor i love this so much right i like it the flavor is just something i've never had the smokiness from the eggplant the pork the shrimp everything you want that you didn't know you wanted you know i mean like you went out with a girl and like you're like i have no idea what to expect and all of a sudden you're like i'm in love i want to get married tomorrow like if this was a moment i want to like marry it and have a bunch of little moments this is something i would miss wow this is so good this might be one of the best things we had today like we've been eating a lot today easily finish this right this is one of my favorite desserts in the world i agree i mean it's so simple right just sticky rice condensed milk and coconut sticky rice coconut milk and chopped up mangoes but it's so delicious all right i think we need to after this we need to take a break and then we gotta go for dinner what should we do during our break this is why we do hey we're in san mateo this has always been one of my favorite restaurants to come to this was the first restaurant i've ever eaten at with my then team when we first came here looking for a place to live boiling beijing there we go i don't know if you guys remember the video but it was i think the first video i've ever filmed in the bay area was at this restaurant and i think we were sitting like right there a bunch of young people with dreams and hopes we came here for hot pot so a lot of memories in this city time flies i can't believe that was five years ago that was five years ago you watched since off the great wall so you still remember all of us who came here i do i remember dan the fiance and you were trying to do something here oh time flies like off the great wall wow that was a long time ago oh my god you know one of the best statements i've ever heard was this too shall pass oh yeah you know that's one of the truest statements i've ever heard because it works for both the good times and the bad times like when it's bad it'll pass when it's good you you learn to treasure it because it will pass as well deep the speaking duck here you see the top the top pieces are just a thin crispy skin with little um or petals of osmentous flour and you just dip down a little bit of sugar so good that skin just touches your tongue just renders and disappears and just makes every part of your body happy awesome if you love peeking dog you're in the bay area or san francisco come here and try their peeking dog it's one of my favorite things this is the stewed lamb one of the dishes we got when we first came here and it is amazing it's got meat skin and fat every piece of bowl oh it's going spicy smoky and so much good stuff i want to say about the sauce it's stewed in how good is that it's so good it's fall off right fall off the bone tiger shoot up literally there's something i always get whenever i come here like the sauce you just take it off the bow and put it in your mouth this is why i get along with aydah so well she's still going strong like we're good we go on and on when you're eating peking duck at a real peeking duck place what they're going to do is they're going to take the bones and whatever meat is attached to those bones i'm going to cook it either in a soup or they stir fry it which is what i had them do here and this is joyen so it's salt and pepper stir-fried duck bones words fail me have you ever had this way of eating it that's salt and pepper how good is that it's so crispy all right so this is peking duck with a braised lamb rib you get two different types of fat now the fat from the duck and the fat from the lamb i live by a couple of principles in life and one of them is definitely fatter the better fatter the better come here and try that this is awesome they give us like a platter of this peppered beef with garlic oh that's good kind of reminds me of mongolian beef the mongolian beef that we used to have in like chinese restaurants this is like a fancier better version of that oh yeah this sauce is more fishy so tender sauce a little sweet and just incredibly peppery okay this is not a dish you want to eat on a date it's cool if you both eat it and i guess it doesn't matter i guess whoever you're dating if they don't want to order this dish guess you can move on if you're not willing to stink with me on a date and you can't eat garlic and onions or if you're unwilling to smell like hot pot or k barbecue there's the door because you can't date me no more yo she made that rhyme you know you know she's serious about that oh that's so good so good there's different type of spice you know when it hits your tongue when it comes to pepper and chilis this is the pepper spice and this is one of my all-time favorite dishes here the beijing pancake look at that layer of beef how incredibly sexy is this good this is so good there are dishes that you don't find anywhere else at least i can't find in any other chinese restaurant i've been to like the lamb dish i haven't been able to find it anywhere else besides this place like this big pancake dish they might exist other places but not nearly as good as what this place has because beyond anything you're expecting like this will blow past all your expectations and also a little tip for eating the beef pancake we got all that gravy sitting there on the lamb plate don't waste that drizzle it on the pancake remember eating this last time i was here i haven't had this in such a long time it looks kind of like a rice krispie right with corn on top and it's sweet it tastes like a funnel cake and a rice krispie both went on tinder both swiped right had a good conversation went on a few dates it worked out so went on more dates met each other's parents the rice krispie asked the funnel cake experience for permission got married and had this right away this is so good the sweet corn with a little flaky honey crunch i feel like sweet corn is such underutilized dessert ingredient it's like what my like third piece no one needs to know no one's watching don't worry that was a good fruitful day the bay area to me will always be again a place that has bittersweet memories and that's what kind of makes this place fun because every time i come back i feel like it's sort of a connection deep down inside it was great today to go to some of the familiar places i love and to explore a brand new chinatown never been to before and that place has got some amazing food so if you guys get a chance head over to oakland chinatown i found some amazing food today i'm sure you will as well i know every single chinatown has been hard hit over the last couple years but oakland chinatown has had exceptionally bad so definitely if you can go down there get some yummy food and show them some support well i guess that ends my time here in the bay area tomorrow bright and early heading down to los angeles for a couple days i gotta go to bed so see you in the morning good night
