those of you who don't have a degree and love your job what do you do I walk dogs everyone at work is always super stoked to see me and I never go home angry I Drive a school bus and my elementary school kids on my favorite part of the day I make $14 hour and work to one stroke two hours at a time and get paid for six hours a day unless I do a field trip or something and most of the time those are fun as heck I get to go to the zoo the Science Center I went to a Cardinals game I went to a swimming competition and got to stay in a nice hotel for a weekend getting paid the entire time the only thing I would change about my job are the buttholes I have to share the road with I'm a web developer I dropped out of college to move home and take care of my mum motorcycle accident permanent severe brain damage I couldn't leave home I had to be with my mum so I did what I used to do for fun PHP I hated PHP though so I researched what the most semantic elegant solution to web development was the research led me to develop with Python and Django I made a website good guy gamers that wasn't successful at all it was way too much work for one person I'm a terrible designer marketer but I put everything I had into making the site have cool unique features and demonstrate my skill it works I landed a job where I work near full time for a great company for dollar sign 40 / HR and I have a huge say in what happens I can work three hours a day if I'm feeling awful or can't focus for some reason or I can work 12 hours a day busting my ass on an exciting problem the main point is I found what I am passionate about and I found a company that truly appreciates what I can do further they appreciate what I could become with more experience it is funny I am studying Electrical Engineering and I know people in school who have passed through courses requiring lots of programming and yet know almost nothing about programming yet there are other people who are great at it like this guy at my internship was a physics major he taught himself programming and he is one of the best programmers I know relatively observe a posting I saw tonight master's degree in two years of related work experience preferred must complete certifications in HIPAA and City Human Subjects training upon higher responsible for development of databases and software workflows for various projects under the umbrella of the vaginal microbiome consortium including the vaginal human microbiome project vamp and the multi omec microbiome study pregnancy initiative moms PI Department hiring range $10 to $15 yourself find the manager of a friendly local game store just today we posted that we are hiring for the person to replace me so if you live in Virginia and want a job that you'll love as well PM me I'm a baker it's hard to explain just the sheer satisfaction and excitement I get when pulling fresh loaves of bread from the oven that eesti smell wafting over you or taking out a fresh batch of pastries just golden brown ready to flake all over your shirt from the first bite it gives me ASMR every time I shaped flour water and salt into separate pieces of food each with distinct qualities and personalities I can turn sugar butter flour eggs milk water and salt into literally dozens of different things with just different techniques manipulation quantities and understanding I made that I created those with just my hands nothing feels better Baker equals alchemists I'm an educator at a small zoo not very common in the zoo community to work without a degree but I was lucky to be grandfathered in I started as a temporary worker went to full-time animal care and worked my way up to lead keeper education was a normal part of my keeper job anyway so I jumped at the chance to do that full time I met the one-year mark now and I'm crazy about it teaching people about wildlife and habitat conservation while handling awesome animals is very rewarding construction winters are tough but fresh air is a blessing I deliver exotic collector cars and love it bartender the party's stories and money to be made I am a professional farrier I've only been at it a few months went to farrier school straight out of high school but I love it and wouldn't change a thing though a lot of people are surprised when an 18 year old girl shows up and man handles their stubborn stallions and nags hard work can be back-breaking but I'm a teensy bit jealous that you get to work around those gorgeous creatures day in and day out you've found your niche in life early on and that's fantastic continue being also my side gig I do it fill minimum wage but I detail cars so much fun favorite part the reveal to the client owner when they see the transformation it really is a satisfying feeling I am an air traffic controller 23 years old and at any given moment I have hundreds of human beings on my screen for the most part pilots do their thing and we do ours while I wish to pursue a business degree I'm not sure I would trade this job for anything excellent income excellent benefits and the fact that every day is slightly different than the last is pretty cool kennel attendant for the cat building of a no-kill shelter every shift starts at 7 a.m. depending on the chef I scrub vomit clean dusty litter paw prints off everything clean cage units change out bedding dump hundreds of pounds of dirty cat litter and lug hundreds of pounds of clean bagged litter scrub fifty some dirty litter boxes it's by far the physical labor-intensive job I've ever had and by far my favorite job I've ever had I'm part-time the pay is not enough to support myself but by god I love it but for reference I'm 25 one year of Community College and one year of awful degree mill art school under my belt I live in a fantasy world way how successful I see myself is dependent on how happy I am I'm looking for a second part-time job and also procrastinating getting serious about a sketch pet actually do have a degree in women's studies but it in no way helped me get the job the thing that got me the job was customer service experience I worked at an answering service for two years before this my job is fantastic I work 12-hour shifts and only work 15 days a month one week I work montu's and Freesat son the next week I only work when Thurs I get a three-day weekend every other week the work is interesting but there's also loads of downtime in which we are allowed to browse the internet or read there's no dress code although pajamas are gently discouraged most importantly you really do get to help people so you leave at the end of your shift feeling like you've done something good for your community it's fantastic I'm a security guard I love protecting people and property I love making sure my uniform is just so I love the free time and the wandering controls I love reading reading and daydreaming I love the respect I get from our residents i watch over a high high-end gated community and bonuses and gifts I get at Christmas and on my birthday to be honest my job makes me feel like sheriff Andy Taylor I'm that one known and respected but without all the legal log jams I do watch repair it is actually a pretty easy task to pick up if you have all the right tools and someone with experience to guide you I also work on my parents organic farm which is technically more of a volunteer thing but I get about 80% of my food from there without paying money for it love both jobs and no degree needed started my degree but never finished did some projects for Boeing and to people which I really enjoy so all up I'm pleased with the arrangement I'd still like to learn my degree eventually though I do have a degree and don't love my job therefore this thread is making me feel more terrible feel good brother-sister because some people don't have degrees or jobs and just go on read it all day I'm a soil test driller I run around the country drilling to sample the soil under future construction sites to test for soil stability it's always different and I get to be outdoors every day plus it's super cool finding things like grass and roots 50-plus feet down from before the glaciers covered it during the Ice Age I work an HVAC started fresh out of high school and learned on the go I get sweaty dirty bloody muddy cramped electrocuted and burned summers in Houston are brutal and the workday lasts forever winters are slow and barely pull 30 hours a week it's something I love doing though it's challenging both physically and mentally it's very rewarding and a career that will always be in demand musician who needs a degree in a job that rarely requires you to count higher than four so I'm going to guess you don't do too much jazz I'm a server I love it I get to move around all day I just couldn't deal with sitting at a desk all day I get a good amount of exercise just by working but the money is great I actually make more than most of my friends who have degrees I like my co-workers a lot and working as a team you occasionally get an amazing table I mean just awesome you are such a pleasure to wait on and remind you why you love your job if you work at the right place you meet lots of different and interesting people who bring out different aspects of your personality depending what each different table wants in a server you can just be quick and efficient with one table a comedian and entertainer with another classy and formal down-to-earth and laid back with college kids sympathetic to someone who has had a bad day talk about literature and films with a table be flirty with a cute customer make friends with regular customers find a way to make a couple's date special there are just so many different types of people you can be all in one day it's entertaining also the majority of the people I wait on are also really nice and polite I am also a person who thrives on organized chaos while remaining calm and in control which is a great job for me to have since it is nothing but organized chaos I go into work every day excited about what kind of challenge will present itself that day I really think of serving as a game or sport that you get paid for it's a ton of fun good to know that someone out there with the same job as me feels the exact opposite about it that I do I so good quality furniture at a fair price and I love my job this is the first job I don't dread coming to work and make a good living while I'm doing it I'm an assistant manager at Little Caesars it's not a glorious job or one that people think highly of it's rewarding and it feels good to clean the store have it run smoothly and have happy employees customers I am a receptionist at a retirement community I've been working with seniors for the last 7 years or so thanks to an incredibly vague Craigslist ad starting as a kitchen assistant in one town moved to different facilities built up my resume and now work at an upper-class community in a great neighborhood I feel very lucky and grateful to have had many opportunities for growth I definitely started at the bottom of the ladder but if you work hard to let yourself stand out you'll be noticed by those who matter I love working with seniors I don't think I could work with the general public again not my cup of tea anymore sorry general public I am a computer programmer for a software company that specializes in financial institutions and their daily processing tattoo artist it's the crap after a lifetime of crappy dead-end jobs working in warehouses going home every day covered in dust and grease I can finally do something where I am always learning always improving myself always working on becoming the best I can be it's the only job I've had where seniority doesn't mean crap you are the best based on your work and your work alone plus I've never been a team player I work better by myself and with this I get to do that plus it's great having clients who come to me during hard times in their life wanting something meaningful for them to wear and be proud of for the rest of their lives it makes me feel good when a client leaves really happy öand working like two hours a day and still making a grand a paycheck ain't that bad Iver I'm a machinist I love how much further ahead of my college but his iron house rental property overall quality of life and they are so much smarter than me I barely graduated high school and I should really be living under a bridge somewhere makeup artist I work as a bus driver for people with
