Ninja Food 101: The Pressure Test

hi there and welcome to the Salton Peppers YouTube channel where we cook for real life using real food and we keep it real simple now I just got mine into foodie and I'm super excited I did an unboxing video which I will link to below and now I want to do the pressure test now why it's important to do the pressure test whenever you get a ninja foodie or an instant pot before you use it for the first time it's just to make sure everything's sealing correctly making sure it's coming up to pressure making sure you can vent it and kind of getting to know the function of your new ninja foodie or the instant pot so we're gonna start off first of all let me just show you this comes with the ninja food II so it goes through the steps that you need for doing the pressure test and it's really simple we're going to use three cups of water for the ninja food II put on the pressure lid set the time to high for two minutes and then allow it to come up to pressure so right now we have the tender-crisp lid on or the air fryer lid and the pot is inside here this is the nonstick enamel pot you want to make sure that's in sign before we put the water in add in three cups of water this is just regular tap water then we're gonna put on the pressure lid now when I should when I did the unboxing video it was kind of a little cumbersome to get this to sit on correctly and then I thought okay now I got it and was still a little I think cuz I turned my machine around a little bit so I'm trying to figure out it will sit on and it will just sort of fall into place when you have it correctly like that falls in and then it just can turn it now there is a seal on the back here it is a turn seal one side says vent and one side says seal you want to make sure that you turn this to the seal so it's turned to the right my right here when I got my ninja food II this was actually this little lever button whatever you want to call it and I had to put it back on but it's working fine so we're gonna go ahead and do the pressure test make sure it all comes up to pressure so I've got it to the seal mode and we will turn our pressure cooker on this is the ninja foodie six point five quart we want the pressure to be on high let's see I'm just getting familiar with these okay so the pressure pressure on high and then the time we want to take the time to two minutes and it's just a simple click of these up and down arrows so there we go two minutes and I'm gonna press the start button what's gonna happen is you're gonna see this continually these lights turn around and that will continue to happen until it comes up to pressure then there's a red button on the back that will pop up when it's under pressure it's going to stand a pressure for two minutes and then we're gonna vent it so we'll be right back after it comes up to pressure and I will make sure to tell you how long that took okay see you in a few [Music] all right well it's been three minutes and 45 seconds and I haven't heard a peep out of this yet so I'm starting to wonder is it gonna work and this is why you do the pressure test before we start cooking with something we want to make sure that this appliance is functioning properly and that it will come up to pressure so we're going to give it a little a little more time here again this is the ninja booty six point five court and it's been formed but it's I'm still not hearing anything okay it's in just under six minutes and I'm starting to hear some things going on here so be patient with it this does take a little bit of time but I could start to hear what's gonna happen I think is that the steam is gonna regulate itself before this red button pops up and it's under pressure so we're starting I think I'm hearing the boiling water inside so I'm starting to see steam coming out well that might concern you why is steam coming out when it's supposed to be pressurizing well what it's doing is its allowing some steam to escape to build the perfect amount of pressure in the pot before it seals it so this is this is normal so if you start to see the steam come out while it's on the seal mo when you're coming up to pressure that is normal if you see the steam come out when you're under pressure that is not normal okay so I don't know if you can see this oh okay the red button just popped up that means that we are under pressure so we should be seeing very soon this turn - - that means it's gonna go under high pressure for two minutes all right here we go so it just came up to pressure I'm going to stop that it took 8 minutes in 43 seconds for it to come to complete pressure and start to countdown now the ninja foody for whatever time you set it for it will countdown okay so this is counting down from two minutes because that's what we set the the time on you can also see over here there is a keep warm that is all fright now there's gonna be some dishes you cook where you're gonna want to keep warm on and some that you're gonna want to turn it off so for this we're gonna have it turned off all right we're just about to do the venting it is coming down to zero and then there it goes it says done all right so I'm gonna use my glove here and one thing that you want to know is you want to definitely stay away from this okay so I'm going to move away well let me try that again okay the steam just finished releasing and the red button depressed so now I should be able to open up my lid and it comes off okay no you can see the steam this is very hot you definitely want to use oven mitts when you're gonna pick up your pan you know to move it over to either serve or you know to dump the water out all right guys that concludes the pressure test so it's really simple but you definitely want to do it before you've used your ninja 3d for the first time just to make sure that it does come up to pressure so I'm gonna go ahead and dump this water out and I'm gonna get to cooking so I'm gonna make a little Mexican taco bake and I will link to that video below because I'm gonna do that right after this one so don't feel tuned into that and I will see you next time and please subscribe to the channel and give me a thumbs up you like the video thanks so much and see you next time [Music] [Applause] [Music]
