what's up guys my name is Brooks Laich and I want to welcome you to my channel I'm gonna share a lot of information on here about nutrition fitness things that I do but the first thing I want to introduce you to is my epic garage gym so this is my dream this is my baby this is our garage here in LA this is my epic garage gym so I spent my entire life playing professional hockey so 15 years of pro hockey meant I was in exceptional facilities and I wanted to duplicate that here so the first thing and the most important thing the foundation of any home grad gym is the flooring that you use so you see this floor you'll see this beautiful floor right here by a company called play so I want a great flooring I wanted flooring where I could set it and forget it that it would never give me issues so my flooring is by play it's the cross grind flooring and it's it's great for shock absorption and energy return so I'm dropping heavy weights 200 plus pounds from overhead I don't want to disrupt the foundation of our house so I have three quarter inch cross grind flooring glued down so that when I come in my flooring looks exceptional performs exceptional and it's gonna do that for year after year so we have ropes hanging here on the end of the rack it just keeps it clean we have heavy rolls we have speed ropes different kinds of ropes for different workouts and then this is what I love I love this rack because this is organization so in the gym you want it to look clean you want to know where things are so you can just pull them when you're working out so 5030 2014 we have med balls we have kettlebells ranging from 35 pounds to 70 pounds and in the bumper plates which are great for a grad gym bumper plates competition plates ranging from 55 pounds 45 35 20 and the same here 45 25 and 10 and then good dumbbells you want great dumbbells and you'll see everything in my gym is rogue I bought Roll Grove to me makes the best fitness equipment so everything you see in here is rogue change plates on the end range from a pound and a half all the way up to ten pounds so change place you want when you're just doing increments in your training these are great on the wall we have some mobility stuff some mobility bands just hang in here different types of mobility bands this is really cool this is a GHD setup so you can pull this out hook it up to a GHD and it's the box as well so if you want to do box jumps it doubles as well in a grabs I don't have that much space so having a GHD alone takes up a lot of space this gives me a GH D and a box jump in one this is a rower concept two rower very common and CrossFit best roller I found stowed away nicely but the rower great full body workout you want to have one of those in your home gym then we have chalk so the chalk here chalk obviously you're doing a lot of barbell stuff you want some chalk grip up your hands a little bit then this piece is one of my favorites and this is something that I think can help a lot of people this is just a 48 by 96 piece of plexiglass that I picked up at Home Depot initially I'd bolt it on the wall for handstand push-ups to kick up against here so my heels would go up on this glass and not rip up my wall but what I've used it for is programming workouts so every day I program my workouts up here now one of my favorite pieces of my home gym are these 100 pound and 150 pound sandbag so these are used for picking up cleaning throwing over your shoulders so 100 pounds or 150 pounds over your shoulder that's one of the best workouts they ever have then up here we just have the barbells we have women's barbells we have men's barbells and a curl bar your barbells guys take care of your barbells so mine are stowed up they're neat nicely neatly they look good I also like an aesthetic in the gym and this part is as part of it these are for farmer Carrie's stole those as well so those are farmer Kerry bars so these are crossover symmetry bands which I mount it on the wall these are great these are absolutely great they build shoulders gaps everything like that you do a lot of different exercises with these iPod here which goes to the bows up there you need absolutely have to have good Tunes so that's mounted there and then here you can get creative with your garage too like here are my my bear complex grips are here here I have a couple Clips hanging there so in designing your home garage gym remember this that space is your most valuable resource so here my wife and I still want to park our vehicles in here so I wanted to have squat racks though this is the rogue while folding squat rack unbelievable product so you can see it's nicely bolted to the wall looks clean looks looks efficient takes up very little space and then what happened is you pull it out from the wall and now this sets up your squat rack we wanted this now I have another one of these on that wall right there because I want friends to come work out so if you're watching this you want to come work out got a rack for you but these are great for space-saving up here you want to have a good clock so I have a rogue clock so that I have a timer to time all my workouts I like to measure my fitness so a good clock is very essential and then a real cool part come out here out here used to be a planter there used to be just a brick planter I just took a sledge to it knocked it out and I put in this so this is a rogue rack 12 foot leg here 9 foot legs here and what I can use it for I have a pull-up bar over here can use this for pull-ups muscle ups everything like toes-to-bar everything like that and then also with from the 12 foot bar right above your head here are rings which can be used for ring muscle ups so also out here we have the two wall ball targets so the lower ones the ladies the upper ones of men's up here I have rings so these are just screwed into the framing at the top you can drop them and now I have rings for ring dips ring rows everything like that but then storage wise we don't always want to have to take them on and off we just store them clip them up to the ceiling you'll see here neatly stored away in the corner taking advantage of space again is a rope so I bought an 8 foot rope we only have 8 feet to work with right so an 8 foot rope comes over here clips into the ceiling and then from here you might think 8 feets not very long that's the easy rope climb but if you do seated legless rope climb up to the ceiling eight feet is a long way so this is the concept to bike arrghh really super smooth I love this bike this is the concept to ski arrghh so different than the biker this is the ski urgh a little more upper body centered but also full body workout because you're using your legs to drive this is one of my favorite pieces in the gym it's the rogue eco bike this thing is a crusher when I have friends that want to come work out one of the first things I do is I put them on the row gecko bike if you think you're in shape or you want to get in shape this thing will test it will break you this is baptism by fire in fitness so there you guys have it that is my epic home garage gym I absolutely love it a couple things to remember when doing your own number one space is your most valuable resource so when you're doing your own grads gym planet out be intentional with your organization make it clean I hate cluttery gyms the second thing is your flooring I can't stress this enough I have a great flowing from play put down good flooring in your gym changes your entire workout part of my
