MY THOUGHTS ON 2022 DEAN GUITARS!

well today ladies and gentlemen in this video we're going to be checking out dean guitar's 2022 catalog let's see what they have in store and just react to it alright let's get into [Music] it so what is going on everybody thank you so much for joining me for today's video my name is ray i'm a guitar player here on youtube and it is officially like the winter season just around the corner for the new year where all the companies are releasing their catalogs for the the next year we get to see you know what we can spend money on and uh you know just check out right it's always a fun time um and dean guitars to the best of my knowledge is the first company to release their product line for 2022. now yes i was down at the dean guitars headquarters very thankful that i love those guys down there they're super kind to me super awesome people um really great people we had a lot of fun down there um anyway i got to see the guitars on their like their their display right but i couldn't uh you know read the specs see the scale lengths the woods the you know whatever you know what i mean like i couldn't dive in and like read up on them so today i want to do exactly that read into the the guitars see what the specs are see what they're made out of see what pickups they have scale length fret wire etc menu i mean just hang out and just geek out on some some new guitars from dean alright so not talking about anything in current events solely talking about their guitars so let's dive on in up on your screen right now we have the catalog man and now just scrolling down real quick i will be honest and i will be fair throughout this video but just my initial reaction is a very small release for 2022. now on paper that doesn't sound the greatest but what i think is i think the reason is is because if you guys remember like i don't know give or take late summer early fall of 2021 well this year it's still 2021. um they released like um i don't know what you call those guitars but the guitars that were like really specked out with the stainless steel frets um and the evertunes i'll put up some some some pictures of them right now so you guys know what i'm talking about but uh yeah like those are still new and i don't even really think they're out for the public you know to purchase if if if they are i don't know anybody who's bought them yet but anyway man so just because this release right here is a little small doesn't mean it's the end of the world in my opinion so let's just start off man we got some exiles here so exiles are probably my favorite dean guitar shape that dean has to offer right now um you know i'm not necessarily a fan of like the the ml or anything it's just a little too you know much for me this is a more conservative kind of traditional shape and i think it's really cool man so 1500 bucks that's a lot of a lot of money but let's just see what exactly what we have to uh to offer right here dean is taking the exile step further heck yeah the exile is a beast in playability and sonic flexibility that offers a high access neck through heel joint on an eastern mahogany body allowing you the ability to reach every note equipped with a combination of fishman moderns okay cool oh oh i was fishman modern the bridge fisherman classic in the neck wow i don't oh wow check this out yeah i've never seen that before that's actually really interesting in a good way wow all right that's something i've never seen before a classic in the neck and modern in the bridge that's really cool man beautiful quilted maple arch top glow in the dark side dots floyd rose 1000 series satin black burst finish complemented a five piece walnut and maple neck 24 stainless steel frets there we go on an ebony board bound neck and headstock plus chrome foil logo tie it all together to bring the most out of your playing all right 1500 bucks in my opinion is certainly justified here that's a lot of spec stainless steel frets fishman modern fishman classic which i absolutely love man i think that's really cool a satin arch top quilted top that's really cool dude okay starting off with a bang in my opinion and again to the best of my knowledge this looks like roasted you know you mean a roasted maple neck so for fifteen hundred dollars you get a lot of guitar now this is obviously a floyd rose guitar i am not a floyd rose player you know generally speaking um so this is like a super shredder but starting right off the bat i think this is a really good guitar man very very cool um the back of that guitar looks beautiful but i think the best thing about this guitar is it's a modern classic combination i've never seen that also too i don't think i've ever seen an exile that's a neck through style either so starting right off the bat with an awesome guitar obviously in my opinion that's why it's first in the shoot here on the website because it is the most spec that i've ever seen in exile moving on next up we have an exile that's a little less cheaper let's see what this one has to offer if it's anything different and uh yeah just check it out once again you spoke and we listened the exile from dean was built for speed and now give give it a little boost with fishwood modern pickups a new burled maple gloss finish and an alder body three-piece maple neck with 24 stainless steel frets on an ebony board glow-in-the-dark side.lays assures that you won't miss a note well i probably still will but um you know they're they're trying to set me up for success in all seriousness man this is cool man like they said you spoke we listened that is huge man okay so this one also has a bolt-on so that's probably why the price point's a little cheaper or more affordable i should say just because bolt-ons generally speaking are a little less expensive now these guitars when i saw these in person these are the ones that stuck out to me me and my my fiance we really love these we were like wow that's really pretty because she was there helping me out she was you know she was doing her best to geek out along with me right but in all seriousness man you know this was uh this is the one that stuck out to us and uh we really dug these these guitars in person so stainless steel frets man um bolt-on fishman moderns they're really specking them out this year and i'm really proud of dean for that they listen seriously and then obviously we have a seven string with presumably the same exact amount of specs okay so the seven string has the same exact scale length as the sixth string twenty five and a half inch scale um so that is perfect for like b standard and or drop a i personally wouldn't go any lower than that especially with a floating floyd rose that's going to cause a bit of tuning problems and these guitars are also made in indonesia not that that matters really anymore but just you know certainly a talking point nonetheless now we have an exile from the x series which is like their entry level their their their budget guitars um i think this looks cool man black on white looks like mick thompson in like 2008 you know what i mean like with the stormtrooper and that's cool man all right now let's get into some ml's it's really crazy to see the mls without a dime shape this is the first year in a very long time without any sort of dime guitar um that's interesting it's it's it is what it is you know what it means but it is just jarring to not see you know something dime related but regardless man you know but regardless man this is a really beautiful guitar again one of the other guitars that really stuck out to me was this guitar in person this kind of like sandblasted top i'm not exactly sure what they're calling it but just it really stood out matched that with the never tune and the block inlays it looked really beautiful man it was awesome so this is definitely one that um i recommend anybody checking it out just because it looked really cool the long-awaited dean custom run is back and it's now number 16. i don't know what that means taking the legendary ml to the next level with a swamp ash body three-piece mahogany neck with 24 jumbo frets everton fishman moderns is in black chrome and a sandblasted gray finish tied all together for the ultimate ml okay so these are cool because they're limited they're numbered to only 100 pieces so this is a limited run it's a custom run i don't think it's from the custom shop per se but it's certainly a limited run and i think it's probably why the price point is a little steep but in evertune some fishman's sandblasted it's really beautiful man and like i said this is one that was really um sticking out to us um back at the uh you know at the shop i love how dean's giving a lot of love to kaler kaler is um certainly making a comeback and i met the man himself several times now um and just a just an og in terms of like you know the guitar industry and just a really kind soul to talk to and that guy has a lot of stories man so um do you ever have the opportunity to meet that gentleman just a really really great person um this guitar matched with uh the seymour duncan tb5 and ap h1 um those pickups are pretty pretty standard in a lot of um teens production models they really give a lot of love to those as well um yeah this is a cool guitar man not necessarily my cup of tea again just the ml and the kaler it's not my vibe not my style um but again just seeing these in person they were really beautiful and that's it for the mls you know it's kind of a small run of mls um just like i said a little jarring a little just unique to see in 2022 dean guitar is not having a lot of mls because that is kind of like you know their their flagship shape you know what i mean but regardless man those two especially the limited one the custom one um custom run excuse me i really like that one a lot now moving along to these super shredders these 80s super shredders um i love love love love this shell pink one with the rose and maple neck but i do have something that i wish i wish was different about these i am not a fan of the the dean kind of written on logo i think what would make these guitars pop even more is put the iconic wings logo the dean wings logo i think that is like arguably the best logo um in the guitar industry i mean it's the most iconic in my opinion like when you see that you can see that from you know the back row of the the arena you can see the wings on the headstock um i just think that's really cool man so i just wish it had the dean wings logo on these to really make it pop that much more but regardless man i love the shell pink i love the simplicity 80 shred all day they've had these style guitars um out they've had like this one right here in like blue and orange now they got one in yellow it's cool man you know if you play in steel panther or like you know cinderella or something like that this is certainly what you would uh you know rock right but in all seriousness man it's a very loud flamboyant and in your face guitar in a good way um and you got to have some serious chops to uh pull this off something i can't do but yeah just a really beautiful guitar man awesome looking guitar in your face guitar and again i just wish those guitars these three right here my own personal opinion had the dean wings logo rather than the script logo i just think it would make it pop that much more next up on the list is my favorite guitar but my biggest disappointment just because it has a floating floyd rose if this was a hardtail i would be all over this guitar the thoroughbred is my favorite shape from dean for obvious reasons i've been playing single cut guitars my whole life it was like the first shape i really fell in love with so this one is absolutely gorgeous again so you did it in person it sounded like a broken record it was just popping off of the wall with that quilt top um the dean select series is is awesome you know bag for your buck affordable but not cheap um yeah dude this is just really cool but unfortunately for me personally it's got a floyd rose on it's got a whammy on it um but yeah all the same man i guess you know i could obviously block it or whatever but i love this guitar so much i just wish i just wish that it came in a hardtail version as well um but you know i'm just one guy with an opinion in my opinion ain't you know ain't too important i guess it's just you know i'm just being honest and just as a customer and as a fan i just wish it was catered towards me you know what i mean being a little selfish that's all but apart from that man you know these quilts dean really kills it with these quilts they've had these thoroughbreds out for several years now with like a a cherry burst a blueberry burst or you know burst whatever you're gonna call it ocean burst and now they got one with like a black natural they pop and they really just they're striking and they're beautiful guitars man they've had this guitar on their instagram several times i believe and uh every time the picture everybody's just like geeking out over this guitar because of how beautiful it looks and i agree it looks great up next we have a 79 floyd cherry um this comes i believe from the india shop which is like their affordable shop yup country of origin india so this is more or less on the budget side of things so you know pretty cool looking guitar it's kind of like got that classic aesthetic so that's cool and then last but not least in terms of guitars we have a z select fishman fluids black satin i have the thoroughbred one in this and it is absolutely killer in terms of playability and sonic goodness the fisherman moderns you know i said a million times i love fishman moderns you know they're not necessarily my favorite pickup of all time but they undeniably sound amazing and so i know this guitar will be exactly that sound amazing i love this aesthetic i love this vibe even though blacked out isn't necessarily my favorite thing in the world but i said it as one little critique i just wish these had block inlays these kind of like ninja star looking things they're cool um but i just think it would just make it pop that much more with just like a really kind of more kind of traditional dean style classic style but these inlays certainly make these run of guitars you know unique to the run itself so it makes sense and ladies and gentlemen that is literally it in terms of electric guitars so to wrap up this video i will have to say i'm rather underwhelmed with the amount of guitars but however the ones that they are offering i'm very impressed with so it's like a double-edged sword i'm kind of like contradicting myself in the sense that like what do i want as a fan and as a consumer do i want a lot or do i want like just a couple really good ones because i'm not going to buy them all anyway so like why does it matter right so again i'm being i'm being contradicting for sure but that being said the ones that they are offering especially these exiles and these mls are specked out as as much as as any other guitar out there stainless steel frets fisherman moderns you know everything side dot lumen lace it's got everything and um again i'll just say it's really awesome that dean guitars is offering these specs with their guitars a lot of their fans and their customers have been asking for these now they got them available you know and again just for me personally as a consumer and as a fan and dare i say as a friend of the people down at dean um i feel comfortable enough to say that i just wish there was a couple for me personally all the ones that they have to offer that i love i'll have either evertunes or floating bridges and i just wish they had a hardtail but regardless man i'm just super proud and super happy for dean and um if if anybody that's a dean fan or you know dean player picks one of these up i know it'll kill man especially especially the exiles and the mls man i'm a big fan of them for sure so everybody that's gonna do it for this video what do you guys think of these guitars leave all your thoughts down below and i'll
