hi my name's edward and i'm 18 years old i'm going to tell you the story of how my life went from being downright miserable to utterly awesome within a matter of months before that please don't forget i used to think my dad had invested all his savings in a startup and he was pretty confident that he'd be successful but that wasn't the case the startup failed and he went bankrupt the situation was and also we moved to a one-bedroom apartment everything was falling apart my dad got involved in gambling drinking and all kinds of bad activities and my mom well she was fed up of everything so she decided to go her own separate way that left me in the middle of all the confusion and chaos mom didn't leave right away she talked to dad one day and both of them decided to give me up for adoption you can't do that i protested mom why can't i go with you you don't have to send me to school if you can't but please don't do this this is for the best she replied i don't know what i'm going to do couple who adopted me was really kind and caring they were even better than my parents actually why was i even comparing them to my parents the circumstances were different i was still not over how i'd been tossed aside by my biological parents and naturally i was wary of this family that had adopted me moreover my new parents told me that they had three triplets who were all my age it was a bit scary because i had never had siblings before come edward you should meet your siblings now the lady i mean my mom said it was so awkward to suddenly refer to someone else as my parents but i didn't want to hurt their feelings or get on their bad side who knew what they would do if they got mad three girls came downstairs i think i almost fainted when i saw them it wasn't because i was seeing triplets for the first time instead i was facing my ex-girlfriend yep that's right i used to date a girl named jess when i was still in school but we broke up just few weeks before i had to drop out and now i was seeing her again like this to be honest i wouldn't even have known which one of the three was jess if i hadn't seen the scowl on her face edward she took a step towards me what the heck much of a good person she was i mean i had dated her for a long time she was basically jealous of me yes that's right me she never liked it when the teachers used to praise me for my grades or when everyone used to hang out with me of course i wasn't aware of this i thought she was just a competitor in studies and nothing more but she went to great lengths to take me down dating me was part of her plan she wanted to share my spotlight and then slowly pushed me out of the picture completely well i realized her intentions a bit too late and by then i had a lot of problems of my own so i simply broke up with her and after that i had to drop out and now here i was over the odds of ending up in my ex's family just shot me one glare and left the rest of the family kept apologizing for her behavior and then i was brought to my new room as my mom had said my foster parents were providing me with everything that i could ever need they were super rich and they didn't hesitate to spend money on me i was even enrolled back in the same school jess's two sisters cara and serena were really nice to me sometimes i wondered how jess could be so different from them anyway the best part of everything was that i could go back to school i've been enrolled in my old school once again i was excited but my first day back and i realized that i was in deep trouble jess had spread some ridiculous rumors about me is it true that your dad cheated on your mom a random student asked me while i was passing through the corridor no i replied in confusion but that's what we heard and also did your mom run away with your uncle after finding out the truth another girl asked but i don't have an uncle i told her who told you these things everyone's talking about it you became pretty popular after you left we heard about how dysfunctional your family was and now you had to resort to gambling in your desperation to earn quick money the girl replied wow what the actual heck i didn't even have to guess to know who had to spread these weird rumors about me jess was the only person jobless enough to do such things i may have started attending school again but because of the rumors i have become the center of attention and not in a good way when i asked jess to tell everyone the truth she refused and just left with a smirk of course she was enjoying this well then she had left me with no other choice cara and serena were in different school but they were really popular with the kids at our school they even had a huge following on instagram and everyone admired them because of their humble nature since jess wasn't going to clean up the mess she had created i had to turn to her sisters i simply requested them to drop me to my school one day they happily obliged i didn't have to do much when the other kids saw me standing outside the school gates talking to kara and serena they started flocking around us whoa edward how do you know them someone from the crowd asked i know right edward doesn't exactly have the best reputation to be hanging out with such popular girls another one commented what are you guys talking about carol frowned of course he knows us he's our brother he practically lives with us what about his reputation are you trying to question our family everyone was taken aback by this revelation and i simply smiled you guys know our sister jess right serena asked she goes to the school too you can ask her edward is a really nice guy please don't spread weird rumors about him everyone shared a look amongst themselves um jess was the one who spread those rumors someone said yeah she's nothing like the two of you another person remarked i can't believe she was lying to us the whole time what are you talking about cara asked in confusion it's it's nothing i said quickly jess and i had a small disagreement we'll sort it out you two must be getting late i'll see you later bye after they were gone everyone started pestering me about jess and how i ended up becoming her brother my personal life is none of your business i replied haven't you learned your lesson don't poke your nose where it's not needed or people will lie and take advantage of you just like jess if you're still interested in my life just go and ask her maybe she'll feed you more ridiculous lies that you could use against me with that i left everything settled down after that no one ever believed what came out of jess's mouth she had become the symbol of lies and gossip at her school i didn't really care about her though i could now live in peace and what's more i had a loving foster family who treated me like one of their own just may have been an exception but as they say ignorance is bliss i never paid any attention to her and she eventually stopped bothering me things started looking up for me and i have been leading a normal and happy life ever since my parents decision to give me up for adoption was not so bad after all
