[Music] hi there i'm jasmine when i was around 8 years old my parents began fighting constantly every night by the time i was 10 they were going through a nasty divorce i had no reprieve my home didn't feel safe it was more like a war zone there are words exploding over my head like bombs being let out of aircrafts most of the time my parents fights would revolve around money or the other person having an affair my parents didn't love each other anymore and after two years of fighting under the same roof my father moved out i was deeply upset about this because i missed having my daddy around as a young girl and my mom would say negative things about him being a loser or a liar to me i began to wonder if all those things were true it felt like he abandoned us i only was able to see him once a month during those visitations with my father he would bad-mouth my mom any chance he got how he would strike while the iron was hot with hurtful words like your mom is an ugly woman from her heart out to her physical appearance or don't believe a word she tells you he would stare me dead in the eyes trying to make me believe this at that point back and forth between my parents who utterly hated each other i was full of confusion on who i loved and who i believed was telling me the truth about the other one eventually the day i was dreading came to fruition court day inside the courthouse in front of a judge i was to tell her whom i wanted to live with the rest of my years until i was an adult i had no idea who to choose they were both my parents and i loved them dearly except they didn't love each other i wondered if they loved me anymore because they were putting me through so much pain having to choose a side my mom was a caring woman to me she cooked for me and cleans my room while my dad would read me a bedtime story and give me piggy back rides i didn't hate either of them and i don't think either of them were monsters like they portrayed each other to be the court day came and went i cried to the judge that i loved them both and didn't want to choose and eventually he made the choice for me it wasn't one i would have readily have chosen but it gave some sort of solution i was going to live with my mother full time and visit my father every weekend when my parents saw me cry about how much it hurts me to choose between them they never again spoke a bad word about the other and i was able to enjoy my time with them separately as now happy individuals [Music] hi my name is sarah and i was having a rough couple of weeks i've been dating this man named eric for about six months and the first couple of months were fantastic we had a lot of fun together and were always going on dates together and hanging out you know typical couple stuff over the last few weeks though he hasn't wanted to see me i've tried setting up fun dates for us i've tried asking to come over to watch movies or something i even asked his parents to see if he was having some personal issues in his life none of them worked i really like eric but it's hard when it seems like he's been avoiding me he was barely responding to texts and ignoring my phone calls so i decided to shop at his house unexpected and ask him what was going on my car was in the shop though so i called one of eric's friends and asked him to pick me up and take me to eric's place he did and i showed up at the front door i knocked a few times and waited before eric opened the door he looked healthy he'd recently gotten a haircut and overall he just looked fine as soon as he recognized it was me though he had a look of fear on his face and shut the door locking it he didn't say anything to me he just closed the door i was hurt i decided i had to know what was going on eric's friend drove me back home and i made a plan i figured eric was still going to work every day so i came up with an idea i knew where eric kept his spare house key so i'd go to his house where he was at work and check around the house to see if i could find any evidence to find out what was going on the next day came and i put my plan into action i had just gotten my car back from the shop that day so i drove over while i knew he would be at work and checked to see if that spare key was still there and to my dismay it wasn't then i remembered something he had told me a few weeks ago while he was still talking to me he had lost the key i had come up with a new plan i walked around the house and saw an open window the problem was that it was on the second floor i looked around and saw a shed behind me i opened it and found a ladder tucked into the back corner i grabbed it and managed to climb inside the window without falling off i looked around and didn't see anything out of the ordinary it turns out this window led into the bathroom i heard a weird noise coming from outside the door towards the living room eric was supposed to be home from work soon but not yet so what was it i took a step outside the bathroom and was greeted with a horde of cats and dogs staring at me he never had this many pets in fact he only had one a cat named bucko where did all these animals come from i decided to sit down on his couch and wait for eric to come home he arrived about 45 minutes later and was greeted with me sitting on the couch surrounded by an army of animals i asked him to explain the animals and why he wasn't talking to me i asked if he wasn't in love with me anymore he said they had adopted all of the animals from bad homes and was working to find them and knew better homes and that he wasn't able to talk to me much because he was so busy taking care of all of them the only reason he gave for shutting the door in my face was that he was worried i would think he was weird for just randomly taking in all these animals i burst out laughing and told him i loved him even more for doing such a kind thing i offered to help him take care of all of them while he was at work he accepted and in the weeks since then our relationship has been better than ever i'm lilly and when i was 18 a rich guy tried buying my love i've always been a beautiful girl with long curly hair that is the perfect shade of reddish brown additionally a curvy body and a pearly white smile even though i consider myself attractive i never knew i would get this kind of attention from a man i had no idea the stranger i was about to meet would shower me with attention and love i went to the grocery store one day after work i had changed out of my corporate formal wear into something more casual jeans that hugged my hips and a t-shirt that molded around my bosom just right once i picked a few items i realized there was a man that had been following me around the store for quite some time he wasn't conventionally attractive but he had certain qualities one would adore such as broad shoulders very tall with tan skin and dark brown eyes i began making my way to the register and once it was my turn to pay i heard a voice from behind me go i've got that he smiled gently at me as he proceeded to insert his platinum card into the machine i've never seen a card like that before at the bottom it said honored member i began to ponder why he was paying for my groceries you didn't have to do that i muttered to him trying to stay calm because now i was about to start loading my groceries into the trunk of my old and little car he had parked right next to me in his mercedes-benz g-wagon i stood there gobsmacked as my mouth hung open in awe and wonder at it who was this mystery man i decided to ask him precisely who are you and why did you pay for my groceries in a very snappy tone he looked at me desperately as if i never noticed him before he put the card into the machine five minutes prior he relented admitting i've been watching you for weeks now your pattern where you work where you live everything i know it sounds crazy but i've fallen for you by just being an onlooker and i want to give you the life i know a girl like you deserves if you give me a chance let me buy your love dinner on friday can be a start he looked at me tenderly and more confident now what did i have to lose i contemplated dinner with a wealthy man even though he seemed a bit obsessive i caved sure why not friday sounds like a plan what time and where i asked now trying to take reign of the situation i'll handle all of that don't you worry just look pretty by 8pm he said as he strutted to the other side of the g wagon to hop in wait i never even got your name i partly yelled and the g wagon that revved up he rolled down the windows with sunglasses on at night nonetheless he lowered them a little just enough to gaze at me i'm the ceo of the firm in which you work for now i knew why he had that information about me but i didn't let it stop me from allowing his advances the date went wonderfully and he continues to shower me with the love and attention i always wanted from a man really cute and for me she was a new mate to play with i loved her tickled her and played with her all the time as soon as i got home after school i would sit with anna and tell her story after story about my entire day everything was good back then as anna grew up though we all started noticing abnormalities in anna yes during my mom's pregnancy the gynecologist had informed my parents that anna would be different and not like other babies my mom was against abortion and so she decided to deliver anna on anna's third birthday we were all busy with the party preparations i was blowing balloons and my father was putting them up on the walls my mom was looking after anna when my granny arrived mom got so excited when she saw granny that in her rush to greet her she ran down the stairs forgetting she was carrying anna then mom slipped on the staircase and fell badly on the floor mom and anna were both injured and immediately admitted to the hospital my dad was a wreck and granny tried to console him i just prayed to god to make the situation better we all waited for the doctor outside the emergency room he eventually came out and said that my mom and anna was safe but that anna's abnormality put her in danger the doctor informed my parents that they had to be very careful on how they raised anna any further injury could result in her death or falling into a coma her senses and nerves had become weaker from then on everyone in the house was preoccupied with looking after anna my parents had no time to talk to me even though somehow i got space from them anna never kept quiet i felt that everyone was forgetting me there was a time when only one voice was heard chloe chloe chloe but now it was anna anna anna anna anna she was the cherry of their cupcake now before i got what i wanted without question but now my wishes had become an unnecessary demand and burden all my friends had three wheel bikes they used to ride to the park whenever i visited the park with granny they teased me because i always came on foot walking my granny was not financially stable so my useless wants were difficult for her to fulfill so i asked my parents for a three-wheel bike but as usual the answer was a big fat no i got upset i stopped eating food i stopped talking to everyone seeing me so upset my mom and dad felt bad and decided to buy a three wheel bike for me the following month but my bad luck persisted and anna went through mental trauma she was not behaving normally just kept on shaking and banging her head and so she was admitted to the hospital again and this time she was there for a fortnight and my dad got a huge bill as a result buying a three-wheel bike was not important anymore passed by and then it was my 10th birthday and my parents refused any kind of party i remembered my fifth birthday i had wanted to celebrate it with family and friends at home and my parents actually organized it anna was just a year old when my fifth birthday was celebrated my birthday party was full of entertainment and acts it was a magic show dancing juggling even a comedy show and that's not all because it was my fifth birthday i received five gifts each from mom dad and granny what an amazing birthday it was but after anna's third birthday tragedy no celebration ever took place at home and now even my 10th birthday would be an ordinary day i wanted my 10th birthday to be celebrated in a grand way but my parents refused i was very sad i cried i shouted i started throwing tantrums but as usual my parents were more interested in their younger daughter and they just scolded me i had always resented anna for stealing the happiness i had with my parents but that day i actually hated her on the day of my birthday unexpectedly my parents didn't buy me a cake nor did they give me a present they didn't even wish me i was red with anger and just left home without informing anyone and surprisingly my parents didn't bother calling me nor did anyone wait for me or shouted me for coming home at such a late hour i planned to move out for further studies i went to oxford leaving everyone behind my parents often called me sometimes i called them back but we never met on my 18th birthday i saw my parents standing outside my university i was happy to see them but my happiness turned into sadness when i saw anna with them my so-called sister who was 12 years old they wished me and asked me to come home with them but i couldn't make up my mind then anna came and she insisted a lot although i hated her i don't know why i eventually agreed and went back home with them all the way i was silent i had no words to say no that's not it i just didn't want to say anything finally we reached home and as i came out of the car i saw granny granny welcomed me wish me happy birthday and we all went inside together as i entered i saw the house had been nicely decorated and there were people there including some of my school friends i was clueless and trying to figure out what was happening and then i heard a loud chorus happy birthday oh yes that was a grand birthday party throne and all organized by my younger sister anna when i left home and went to oxford anna always asked about me when she was 11 years old granny told her the whole story though anna was not normal and used to behave as a kid much younger than her actual age she understood that i left home because of her and because the grand party i had wanted so badly was never thrown so with the help of granny she planned and organized a grand party to get me back i feel like such a stupid girl for never trying to understand my parents problems and for not realizing that my sister needs me i was so selfish and i truly regret it i apologize to my parents and now we all
