[Music] finger vidiots Ashley from Ashley's Korean life and a screen tip is all about my new dark bamboo floors from Lumber Liquidators so just a disclaimer I am NOT being compensated by Lumber Liquidators this is just my honest opinion of their product that I recently got this summer so my motivation to get new bamboo floors kind of stem from this hate relationship because it was not a love-hate it was a great relationship that I've had with my carpet in my living room so it had been through two kids two dogs and was just in a pretty bad state I also wasn't too big of a fan of the title I've had fun in my kitchen and dining room there look like Tyler should be in your bathroom but that's a whole nother story so it was time just to go ahead and upgrade the whole area and getting bamboo floors always on something kind of on my green bucket list and so this is the perfect opportunity and so we ended up going with Lumber Liquidators mainly because up there kind of competitive pricing and some sales they were having at the time it was pretty and just kinda within our budget of what we wanted to spend for the project and so that's who we end up going with but in case you're wondering some of the reasoning I decided to choose bamboo flooring it's because it's more of a renewable resource so whereas traditional flooring comes from trees bamboo is actually a type of grass and so once it is chopped down the roots still remain and a new chute is able to grow quickly from that you can usually carpet us harvested in about 4 to 6 years whereas trees take obviously a much longer time and so to specifically make the type of being the flooring that we had which is a type called strand bamboo flooring and they actually will grind the bamboo up into fibers and then from there they'll compress it with heat and pressure and that makes the links that you see so the benefit choosing strand bamboo that it's much harder than traditional hardwood floors so the brand that we got is 116 percent stronger than oak flooring a kind it's called midnight ultra strand by the brand Morningstar and one part about it is that it has a 100 year warranty that is transferable so say we were to move we'd be able to transfer the warranty of the flooring to the next owners all right so that is basically why I chose green the floors and who watches bamboo floors with so next we tell you about the process to get it installed so it basically started with me going to the Lumber Liquidators website and choose to do a free in-home estimate so we were able to get an appointment with an installer who came out and measured our area that we wanted to put the flooring in he then submitted the kind of totals an estimate to Lumber Liquidators and from there that's when we ordered our bamboo floors and we ended up needing about six hundred fourteen square feet of the flooring that we ordered total about almost $2,000 specifically just for the flooring alone and then there's a bunch of other things you have to buy when you get the floors and we did an underlayment so it kind of helps to keep it quieter keeps the moisture away from the floor we also had to get some quarter trim that went around in certain areas by the trim we had to get different things that also fit to be more in the doorways and so that was an additional $500 or so so I take probably about $2,500 we've spent on just supplies alone and then came the installation cost and so for us to have to take out the carpet and remove the tile spose of the old carpet and tile install the new bamboo flooring and install and all the other little detail like things that part total about $3,500 so total we're looking at about $6,000 is what this whole project kind of cost for us to do all the flooring in our main floor so once we decided that is what we wanted to do we went to Lumber Liquidators and ahead and purchase the supplies and started the process to get it installed unfortunately sometimes there's a weight which for me is the hardest thing when I'm doing a home improvement project so it took about two weeks for the bamboo flooring supplies to arrive at the Lumber Liquidators door we did decide to go pick up the flooring I have my husband able to do that uses truck loader the backup with all of the all of the boxes of the bamboo floors which we're very heavy um and then you basically have to bring those in and you have to let them sit in your house and the area they're going to be installed in for about ten days so they have to acclimate to the temperature humidity of your home so that was another frustrating part for me so so ready for the floors to be installed but that's one step you have to do so that they won't be warping and doing funny things once they're installed so I thought maybe that meant they were just in the garage but like I said they had to go where they were going to be installed so we brought them in we put them in our living room there and also in the dining room which is where they're going to be and happen you don't have to remove them completely from the boxes you just have to open up one end of the box so that it can be kind of getting um some exposure to the air infinity that's in your home so that's an interesting tip so we kind of love the 'those in our living spaces for a few days there and then from there we will be scheduled installation and then installation day came around and you think it'd be nice and easy breezy they're going to install then you remember that you have all this furniture in your living area they're in our living room and then in our dining room and kitchen and additionally in our laundry room and in that bathroom that we had also on the main floor so all of that had to be removed before the install kit starts so another thing you'll have to do and prepping to have the floors installed is to remove anything off the walls like mirrors artwork that way it doesn't get dirty or bumped it could fall during the installation process and this is about what it looks like just that kind of final morning until when everything was taken out one let us look at those disgusting carpets and the little ol tile and before it was going to be ripped out so basically on the when install day came and we were told it was going to take approximately two days to do the floor so the first day and I had the girls and I we were gone for most of the day and then we came back at the end of that first day to find this you can see a lot was done on this first date all the carpet was taken out all the tile floor was torn up and removed and faces and some of the flooring was starting to be installed which is my favorite part it was so cool to see how some of it was starting to look and obviously dusty dirty but that's kind of a given whenever you're going through the installation there so here it is in the kitchen with the finished bamboo floors which I just loved I love the look of how they look to have finally the dark floors I'd worked hard to get that kitchen done paint my kitchen cabinets before and it was really cool to see it start to come together so that's about what it looked like after the first day and then the second day came and we again had to leave the house so they could finish up and then it took only about X maybe a few hours earlier than the day before and came back and it was dads and from there we just had to start bringing the furniture back in which once you're ready just enjoy it you do so have to continue the work of bringing everything back in and one thing that was that I didn't think if it tells right before we're about to bring everything back in is you need some type of built bumpers for the furniture so every furniture leg bottom you need some type of felt bumper or it's gonna scratch the floor all right so now you know what it was like to get the floors installed some benefits that I'm noticing and having them is obviously the updated look I love the dark floors even though they're a little bit more difficult to keep clean and they showed us a lot I just love the new modern kind of updated look it has in our homemade floor there and as you can see mine is very dark I looking back I wishing I probably would have got something a tiny bit lighter I'm just kind of going for the whole dark look and I thought it would cover everything so I wouldn't have to clean my floors as much but it was a double-edged sword because it's dark which looks really cool with my new white kitchen cabinets as you saw in my last video and some of the white upgrades I made in my living room too - the stone which looks great but it also it's really hard to keep clean as one downside so if you're choosing your bamboo I would recommend maybe sending a tiny bit lighter than the dark ultra smoke midnight color that I chose it shows everything shows all the dust and all that stuff so I'm wishing I woulda got some with more texture so maybe the dirt dust would seem more hidden um another perk that I like is that I feel like my floors are cleaner even though I said that they're dusty and how it made me see just how much dust and dirt dog hair you name it probably was hiding in my carpet that I had no idea was there because it's just carpet I mean even though you could vacuum several times a week it still wasn't able to get all the dirt out and so it just helps me to know that's a cleaner kind of greener area instead of all this dust and dirt and allergens hiding in the carpets alright so that pretty much wraps up all about my new bamboo floors if you are interested in getting them both floors as well you can see the description box below to see more of the details about my project and the type of flooring that I got and other aspects of using Lumber Liquidators again I have no ties to them I'm not getting paid to say this just my honest opinion and working with them I would highly recommend them again they did a great job a big thanks to Jose and his team who did the installation in our home as well as the Lee summit store we use here in Missouri everything was great and we couldn't be more more pleased with the result so if you have any questions for me about what it was like there in Seoul bamboo flooring process you can read those in the comments below or if you have the deploring you can share your experiences below too so thank you guys so much for watching and I'll see you guys next time for the screentip bye [Music]
