He had everything didn’t he. He knew he’d beat Foreman. Survive the first 3 and take him in the trenches.

Although the first round is what gets looked past a lot. He put it on Foreman and danced, jabbed his head off and landed a few big right hands. Ali later said he was so fucked after the first that he knew he couldn’t keep it up and then decided to rope a dope.

I love that Mike Tyson often talks about Ali fighting to the death, admitting he himself didn’t have that ultimate, god given trait.
