[Music] [Music] hello everybody this week I'm on board the MSC maravia AA class stateroom 12 1888 which can only mean one thing it's State Room Tour and review time as only the bus man can do it oh it's true it's damn true stay tuned [Music] Hello everybody welcome back to my channel I am the busman and this is another episode of on the road this channel is your gateway to all of my travel tips guidance and advice on all things related to motorcycling Moto vlogging cruise and destination vacations for those of you watching who have already subscribed to my channel thumbs up thank you very much it is appreciated with your support my channel does continue to grow on my drive towards that 1,000 subscriber Benchmark for those of you watching who have not yet subscribed my only ask is that if you like the content please hit that like And subscribe button don't forget to ring that Bell for future notifications it's absolutely free there's no commitment no obligation doing so will only let you know when I put out future content so now that that's out of the way without further Ado pitter patter let's get at her so as I talked about in my intro this time I'm changing it up for all of my loyal Celebrity Cruise fans no need to worry I do have two more cruises booked this year uh one is a future Alaska cruise at the beginning of June 2024 and uh a transatlantic cruise from Portugal to Orlando Florida in November of 2024 so there's lots of future Celebrity Cruise content coming your way as we all know based on social media and YouTube content MSC is either a love it or hate it relationship doesn't seem to be anything really in between it's a very polarizing subject of conversation as it were uh regardless I decided to Branch out and uh explore other lines and to uh and to see what it's like on other cruise ships I have been spoiled up to this point I have been exclusively a Celebrity Cruise fan I've sailed on the Millennium the solstice and The Edge class ships so it's time to explore so my first foray into alternative Cruise Lines has been MSC so the focus of of today's uh episode of bus man on the road is going to focus on on this particular State room which is uh an AA class stateroom I'll get into all of the amenities and features that come with AA class so what does AA class mean so when you're booking an MSC uh Cruise uh you really have four options of experience you have the very basic package which is Bella The Next Step Up is fantastica and then the top level or top tier nonset or non yach Club experience is the ARA so unlike other Cruise Lines when you book an MSC Cruise uh you're not just booking a cruise you're booking an experience so things that are going to influence your decision are uh what it is that you're looking for in a cruise so if you're an experienced Cruiser and you know what you like that'll certainly make booking and MSC Cruise significantly easier so having being an experienced celebrity Cruiser I do like the Finer Things I like all included uh I like uh pampering comfort and style and Panache so with that I decided for my first experience that I would do the AA class and see what that's like so some of the things that come uh in Ora class uh unlike the other two Vella and fantastica is you actually get to choose your specific cabin location so if you're very particular uh all of the ARA classrooms are on deck 12 and deck 13 on board the MSC maravia there are 19 decks on board this cruise ship so with the Ora class all of the uh of the state rooms are midship starboard and port side so the Ora class State rooms are all in the what are viewed as the premium location on board the ship again midship starboard port side uh you're not near any elevators you have cabins above and below you and all around you so uh I I can assure you that this room has been absolutely quiet for the entire duration of the cruise so far it gets the bus Man Thumbs Up another thing with uh AA that you don't get uh with Bella or fantastica is uh free room service now we've all seen a trend on the various Cruise Lines uh celebrity being the example that I'm familiar with uh celebrities charging 99 .95 for uh as a service fee for uh room service that does not exist in the Ora class on board on board the MSC marilia or any other MSC cruise ship so if you like to partake in uh in room dining then that'll be a good perk because there's no added charge a couple of other perks uh I'll get into um with the Ora is you get anytime dining it's the only class or level of experience that you can book where you get the anytime dining you cannot uh purchase or pay for Anytime dining it's limited and reserved to ARA class or Yacht Club guests only uh both Bella and fantastica have set time dining so uh depending on what your preferences are that's something uh to be considered I myself uh really like anytime dining so uh for me that was an added bonus the next good perk uh when you book Ora class is free access to the uh thermal area uh which is basically an extension uh of the spa so uh this one uh is actually really really nice uh I have to say it's far superior to anything I experienced on Celebrity getting into a lot of perks and there are a lot of perks um so the next perk uh of booking ARA class is priority embarcation so uh during the boarding process keeping in mind this cruise is fully booked and there's over 5,000 passengers on board this cruise ship yeah so during the embarcation process when I was checking in of course they already knew I was an AA class guest so I was escorted outside of the main lines into a separate waiting area during the embarcation process because my boarding time was 10:00 in the morning first thing uh the aura and Yacht Club guests uh and Diamond uh level guests were the first ones on board so I was literally from the time I showed up to the time I set foot on the ship was literally about 25 minutes so with that Less Talk More tour let's get to it so as we always do on this channel we start our room tours at the front of the room so here is just like on any other cruise ship you have your MSC maravia deck plan uh you have your uh General emergency alarm reminders uh evacuation drill point and the other thing you'll notice uh unlike other cruise ships I've been on this is uh the instructions are in six different languages English Italian Dutch French Spanish and Portuguese so uh that's something you'll see that's a little different to the left side of the door uh you have your standard uh door locks and handles standard pee pole stepping back from the front door once again on the left side you have uh your closet [Music] space with the right side open you can see uh there's plenty uh of space you have several shelves four shelves two drawers and a cubby or Nook space uh at the very B bottom for additional storage moving in a little closer as you can see you also have your in room safe plenty of room no issues no concerns on the left side of the closet with the door open you can see you have plenty of hanger space anybody who's familiar with my channel knows I'm a heavy Packer you have a separate folding bar down below so you can hang additional items as you can see and along the very bottom uh plenty of room to store all of your shoes or other items that you would like to [Music] keep adjacent to the closet uh next to the washroom is a f length mirror uh which is good so you can check yourself out make sure you're Dapper and good to go before you head out for the night on the cruise ship to the right of the F length mirror you have a digital touchpad right here this is temperature up this is temperature down uh and uh right now uh I definitely like most people have it on the cooler side one thing that's uh I'm not used to is on this uh is um a slot or a or a power control unit on this you have to if you want power in your room you need to keep this inserted so you can turn on the lights in the power and a couple of light switches here to control the lighting in the room and the bath bathro all right and with the bathroom door open you can see uh the washroom area this is a a general overview we'll just pan [Music] down so on the right side of the uh bathroom you have a these are your storage shelves or storage cubby areas as it were uh there's three areas plenty of room uh I've got all my stuff in here as you can clearly see stepping back uh onto the vanity uh you got a couple of glass uh I'm going to call them toothpaste holders or glasses or or whatever uh your vanity area you'll note that everything is and span shiny absolutely spotless you have a large vanity mirror you'll note that everything is Led lit up top once again you have your your uh shaver Plugin or in my case my electric toothbrush plugin uh so that works very well down below you have uh where the additional toilet paper and toilet trees there's also a little bit of shelf space if you want to use that for uh additional storage under the sink you do have uh some space where you can store other items there's actually quite a bit of space down here and in case you didn't know your garbage can so this is what the uh space below your sink looks like uh when you enter the room so you may not know that uh there's storage and your garbage can there that is an actual door on the left side you have towel racks uh above and below and on the right side uh of the bathroom as you can see you have a full-size shower glass enclosure no shower curtain so the busman gives the shower a big thumbs up so the first thing in the shower I'll point out that there is a clothes line and this is what it looks like when it's extended bingo so uh it just connects to the other side of the shower right here so you just extend it out it just clicks right in so in addition to the uh clothes line you may have observed that I have magnetic hooks hanging from the ceiling in the shower why is that so the purpose of having uh the two hooks inside of the shower on the ceiling is my dinner jackets uh when they when they get unpacked from the suitcase they might have been a little wrinkly or during the course of the cruise they might get some wrinkles uh if you don't have uh the time the energy or the money to send them out to get pressed uh in the laundry what you do is you put them on a hanger you get them uh as nice as you can get them hang them up in the shower turn the hot water on close the shower door and you let them Steam for about a good 10 minutes and uh then you take them out of the shower hang them up on another uh ceiling hook in your room somewhere and you just stretch out your jackets wipe them down and uh let them uh air dry they won't be soaking wet but they will be a little bit damp from the Steam and when they dry wrinkle free or as close as it can be using this technique uh I do it all the time it works very well so there's a tip from the bus man forgive the echo inside the shower but I'm just as usual demonstrating the size of the shower uh this shower is actually uh nicely sized uh I've been in smaller I've also been in bigger but as you can see there's plenty of room to get the job done all right so uh moving in to the actual shower space itself you can see you have a standard uh shower it's there's no adjustment uh it's just the one uh spray pattern uh and it is on a rail so you can adjust the height up and down uh pretty much like standard on any cruise ship you have your standard cruise ship controls uh on this side is off and [Music] on on this side is your hot and cold uh going down this way is hotter going that way is colder standard uh grab rail uh standard foot bar for your uh shaving needs on this side as you can see they actually on on this shower they actually have it labeled uh on the left side you have your shampoo on the right side you have your supplied shower gel and uh a rack so you you can hold your razor or whatever other items you may bring from home and again as you know the shower uh is very clean again the ship is brand new so uh yeah no complaints with the shower and one final quick overview uh I will say the bathroom is small uh it is compact uh it's not as small as some of the bathrooms I've been in another cruise ships but it's certainly not the largest but it is very functional very well well laid out and uh serves the purpose well all right so stepping back out of the shower and entry area moving past the closet we're work we're going to work our way into the living space of the uh cabin and on the right side you do have a full-size couch uh it is quite comfortable all right so moving across from the couch uh we have our vanity area check out the size of that mirror that is huge uh all of the lighting in this room is LED lighting which is another added bonus Down Below in the left side of the vanity area uh you do have your mini bar and I'll get into that uh in a moment uh underneath you do have this uh chair which also doubles as a foot stool for when you're sitting on the couch uh lots of space uh in the vanity area as you can see you have your telephone power connections you have two European uh plugs with a USB and a light switch control here beside your phone you have two 110 volt plugins uh for us North Americans you have a display rack here with all of your literature magazine sces uh things that you need to know color TV uh right above this is a smaller TV to me it looks like about a 32in TV size in this case doesn't really matter uh because I never watch TV in my room anyway so there is a what I'm going to call a hidden drawer in the vanity area so uh if you're ever in an MSC cruise ship well there is a drawer that opens you can use it for storage and this is also where the hair dryer is as you can see so with the mini bar open you can see on the inside door you have a v a variety of alcohols and lures uh Corona Heineken budlight uh on the inside you have various juices Waters what have you chips um everything like any other Cruise Line everything in this mini bar is not included in your Cruise fair and everything comes at a price uh the fridge is very cold keeps everything uh well chilled so while we're on the subject of the mini bar allow me to share some of the prices uh again mini bar not included so if you use any of the items here's what you can expect to pay uh for a 2 oz bottle of Jin $10 whiskey or vodka $10 uh 8 oz fruit juice 450 uh a 12 oz soda in other words a can of Coke 350 that's actually not bad uh for a cruise ship I've seen 789 $10 on a cruise ship so I have to admit 350 is not that bad uh if you drink the spring water 3 and A4 San peligrino uh that's a premium sparkling water 375 uh Aqua Pana 650 uh Bud Lights all the beer all the bottles of beer or the cans of beer 750 each uh the salted peanuts chocolate covered peanuts mixed nuts and potato chips are all 450 each so it's not overly exorbitant in terms of price it's certainly not gouging in comparison to some of the other mini bar prices I've seen on cruise ships or especially Las Vegas so one of the other ARA perks that you get is as you can see I've been uh derelict in drinking my free champagne uh today's day two of the cruise uh I didn't drink my champagne yesterday and of course they brought me another bucket of ice with champagne and glasses today so uh I don't know if you get these every day but I'm kind of inclined to believe that you do so I better get get to it additionally I have chocolate covered strawberries with whipped cream and additional chocolate on the back and as you can see like the sign says exclusive to ARA level guests so this is the bucket that you get you can see this one is still uh Frosty and chilled so you get your champagne so last but not least one final perk uh that you get with being uh AA class on board an MSC cruise ship is uh you get a diffuser so I'll be setting this up later uh yesterday was a busy day and uh this morning I spent most of my morning so far just walking around the cruise ship checking things out um in preparation for my full tour and review of the entire cruise ship so look out for that content coming out soon so moving off to the uh living area area the vanity area and for those who have not watched my channel before if you're new to my channel welcome again don't forget to hit that like And subscribe button uh this is my clothes line and it's suspended off the ceiling using magnetic hooks anytime I come back from the pool area or an Excursion I hang my clothes on here make sure they're air dried and good to go when it's time to go home I'm packing dry clothes into my suitcase across from the bed we have some basic artwork the bed itself uh is a full king siiz bed with a foam headed uh with a foam pad headboard I should say uh you get four pillows some accent pillows uh the bed itself is quite firm it's actually hard it's one of the hardest mattress I've ever slept on but uh it definitely gets the job done on either side of the bed you have the these scon type uh night lights or lamps uh they do have reading lamps on them down below as you can see here uh there are touch buttons for uh to turn the lights off and on down below you have a light switch that turns the entire uh cabin lighting off and on um when you come into your cabin you'll see you'll have two beach towels here uh you use those when you go to the pool there are no towel racks uh at the pool so these are the towels you take with you bring back and they'll exchange them for you every day there is a nightstand beside each bed uh as you can see on the side that I'm using you have I have my cat machine and the same scon and reading lamps with light controls on both sides of the bed the one thing that you will note uh the bed does not have have any electrical outlets on either side of the bed this was somewhat surprising to me uh given that this is a a virtually a brand new cruise ship and there's no power beside the bed so that gets a thumbs down from the bus man uh on that one this switch here is what turns on and off uh your balcony lighting so I'm just going to continue to get a bit of a panorama uh of the room as you can see it's in very very good condition and of course no room tour would be complete without a look off the balcony so as we step through the balcony we have uh two chairs and these are just standard chairs there's nothing really special about them uh they do get the job done and they are fairly comfortable there's the other one uh the balcony itself is a little smaller than what I've I've been on on other cruise ships however for a solar Cruiser even for a couple no issue lots of room and this is the view um as of today as of right now we're in the North Atlantic Ocean heading towards Orlando from New York uh an interesting fact the depth of the ocean in this particular location is a little over 11,000 ft deep yes I did say 11,000 ft deep you can see the general condition of the balcony is very good some very very minor uh surface rust area starting to show but that's to be expected uh when a cruise ship is constantly at Sea you can see the LED light bar and coming back into The State Room a few other points uh or things that you get uh when booking Ora class stateroom uh is you do get shower slippers uh they're in the closet Clos it I didn't bother taking them out and you do get what they call a plush bathrobe uh a couple of things I forgot to mention uh in the bathroom um is the quality of the towels I forgot to do my towel quality check uh the towels on board um all uh they're okay they're not great they're definitely in need of a change uh they're nowhere near as plush and as soft as I've experienced on other Cru ships however they do work they get the job done um the the bathrobe itself is a little higher it's a terry cloth type bathrobe not as heavy uh as I'm used to however it is nice to have a bathrobe when you're going to the spa so um the other thing that you may have noticed uh in The State Room even though I have the drapes open I have every single light in the cabin on the room does have a darker Ambiance it's not as well lit uh as I've experienced on other cruise ships but uh it is um a beautiful uh cabin I have no complaints again it's a new ship the carpet's in good shape there's no dings there's no scratches everything works uh so I have no issues or concerns qualms or complaints about that um the other thing uh that I talked about earlier is when you enter the room you have that you have to put your Cass card uh in the that slot to make the power come on well uh one thing on this room that you don't have on other rooms is your um Do Not Disturb uh or service room is a manual switch right above uh the uh power control where you put your C pass card in so if you don't want to be disturbed in your room there's no magnetic door sign on MSC you got to push the button and there's a color code light bar above the door outside of your cabin that tells your state room attendant uh that you're in the room and you don't want to be disturbed so that's pretty much everything uh that I can think of uh in terms of the room um again everything works climate controls work uh the the room attendant has been very good very attentive um no complaints so so far so good for my first MSC experience the cabin gets the bus Man Thumbs Up and with that I'm calling this one a wrap I am the busman you take care be well and I'll see you on the road I I and goodbye peace you take care everybody until the next one
