[Applause] [Applause] well that was fun we have a Smith & Wesson M&P shield we're gonna take a little look at today I have a magazine to recover here normally I don't drop someone else's magazines but thought it would dare to be tactical how's that yes we're going to put the M&P shield nine-millimeter through its paces today and see what we think about it how's that hasn't been out very long unload these mags while I'm gabbing a little bit about it in fact it was just released this last week yes we saw it at the NRA convention on display I think it shipped the gunshots last Wednesday and this is not a T&E gun really a I would not have it if one of our loyal viewers had not contacted me and let let us know that he had one and we were welcome to to shoot it do a video with so it's pretty cool lives down in Murfreesboro south of Nashville and I drove down picked it up yesterday pretty cool gun it really is a pretty cool cool gun at I can't find a lot about it I don't like at this point and we're gonna shoot some more and see it's had he said he shot at 200 to 250 times I shot 6-8 mags it's maybe had close to around 300 rounds through it without any issues so we'll shoot it some more and see what we think got a pretty nice trigger I will have to say huh I'll shot all my two leaders didn't I okay well he's got carried away well let's just try it I don't know why don't we just go for the gong it has a nice trigger and we can hold the right place we might be able hear some stuff over there [Music] [Applause] think I know about where to hold as with any small handgun you still have to get the trigger break at the right time though don't try anything again all right I love the sound of bells ringing in the distance okay so it's huge as a pretty nice trigger supposed to be six and a half pounds and you natl know it feels fine to me it probably is around six and a half pounds and it is their newest offering that's an M&P kind of slimmed down what announced it and it's nothing all that unusual in terms of what we've seen I guess quite a bit of these days I think you're supposed to push this little gizmo down I don't have the manual for it so it works either way and in that part it's not a problem looks a lot like this type of fire we've seen you know this design over and over and over again it just works striker-fired firing pin block and you know just just a simple design very easy to field-strip gets the job done so we've not had any problems with it so far and it seems like a nifty little gun let's put it back together to show the inside there's nothing you know out of the ordinary there let's see if you're captured recoil spring and your bar and all your assembly they're back together there's your M&P shield you've probably seen some of the press about it and some of the hype it's a man drunk and it's a little thinner than then the regular enemies of course now the holster I'm using is a gaucho that the person who lent it to me you know let me use he bought this with the when he bought the gun I believe and it's for uh aim at the compact and he screwed an outsider and did a few adjustments to it and he's making it work I think there was a holster that the the shop had over this gun or some holster makers that guy had advanced copies or whatever and have been making I forget who all it is I read two or three different companies I think was at the NRA convention we're making holsters we're going to have holsters early on for it and I'm not sure where the Galco was won or not but he just like this one and decided to use it but it's uh it's thinner than most of this type of firearm it's thinner than the say the Glock 26 it's thinner than the standard M and peas and that is one of the biggest differences okay loaded up here now we're gonna take a look at that we're gonna do a little bit of comparison for you lets you get a better idea where it fits in the scheme of things the mag has ammo in it but we're not but want to chamber in terms of size its it feels good I can't find anybody you know at the NRA convention that handled it that just doesn't like the feel of it you know it feels a little thin for me in the grip because of my large hands but I've gotten kind of used to that I can let them live with that it feels pretty good I will say when I was driving back with it I wasn't getting a lot of friction on the grips and that's the reason you got the ugly talent groups don't like me saying that there's not really ugly but I i cobbled some together I think they're for a Glock subcompact I just put them on there didn't have too much cutting actually and Oh feels like a million bucks to me I just I just need some friction and there's really not much friction some guns that I get feel better if I put my talons on them I could live with them without it maybe with this gun I that was the first thing that came to my mind I have to get something on it because it just it just felt a little bit slippery and it's kind of small my hand so that was one of the first things I did in fact I contacted Talan said hey I don't know if you got anything on the way but you need to be making some grips for this thing because I think a lot of people are going to want those and there they are they're gonna have some a few weeks I believe so let me give you an idea though kind of where this gun fits and size-wise I'll tell you it's very similar in size to the Walther pp s if you've got a wall the PPS it's about the same size thickness length and height and everything it's very similar to this gun the victim Agatha the same thing the lc9 okay very similar to that I'll get these slides kind of backed up together they're just about the same length it might be a hair shorter on the lc9 about the same okay about the same thickness and then same on pipe I believe just not much difference there say so that should give you an idea if you have an LC 9 or you've handled one yeah there there you go it's a very very similar to that gun in size very similar when we check the thickness again I believe it is about the same thickness - yeah essentially same thickness and what's another guy it's not the same size as a let's see well the diamond back of course this is a db9 db9 thickness wise is a lot thinner I believe yeah it's gonna be thinner and of course it's smaller yes but that's a small gun that's a that's a fan little gun we just had that so we brought it out but you know I'm not sure that's going to compare with the db9 has a strain like that and it feels like it when you shoot it - you don't have much weight there so that's a smaller guy the car very popular thickness it sits on the slide we have about the same thing now the this one has two different thicknesses on the slide more or less that you get down here on the bottom part of the slide there you go and I think you're the same yeah but that's about the same as the car car might be just a hair of there it's in this little bit different shape it essentially the same but this is a pm9 length your car is shorter as you can see okay and on height the car is smaller so the car is a smaller gun and they're both nine-millimeter okay I know a lot of ways I think those two guns you know as well as the lc9 they represent the maybe the best in technology in terms of in size in terms of a nine millimeter single stack fairly small gun you've got you don't get much smaller than the car and have a firearm that it's really easy to handle you do have a gun a little bit smaller of course in a Diamondback but it's not quite as easy to handle as the car or this gun so it kind of depends on what you're going to do with whether you're going to wearing a holster like this or going to try to get in your pocket the car pm9 this size or the diamondback and that that kind of area or the brought out also the Nano get into this size gun you know you're talking about a possible pocket gun still even a nine-millimeter but when you get to this size a little bit more difficult as with the the lc9 these guns or the PPS I had the PPS for a while a nice gun I just I just didn't need to keep all of them but trader for something these can be pocket guns it's a bit of a stretch depending on your pocket right so anyway they that's kind of where it is size-wise the Glock of course the one of the standards in this area of the small knives it's it's thicker let's do the thickness test real quick on the Glock I'm on the slide okay and then on this gun that's where this type of gun excels look at the difference is much thinner much thinner not much difference in weight as with the Walther pp s if you recall my videos on that the weight was about the same but you get a really thin gun and you know that that can be attractive we brought the scales out we're not going to do a lot of waiting things I will show you kind of weird fits there we've got an unloaded lock 26 one pound three and look at three-quarters again one pound three and three-quarters okay unloaded one pound two and five-eighths and we and I was doing supportive video there I guess sometimes you get 3/4 sometimes you find so it's a it's an ounce less basically then the 26 my house was alright so that tells you anything we want to do a little bit of comparison there just to give you an idea where they fit very similar to the lc9 bigger than the car the Nano the Diamondback okay I think most people consider this a holster gun and that's one reason I have it in a holster it's the kind of gun I would carry in a holster more so than you know I try to get it in a pocket I think there are better guns for for pocket guns that's a nice trigger - I'll tell you two magazines that come with it you've got the the seven rounder and get the eight rounder and you got the extension many of you would like this because when you put that on there you've got a much bigger grip and most people you know they want something to do with that Twinkie and everything and not me but most people do so you get a nice long rip to me that's a nice backup magazine are carrying this gun as I hate since yesterday I had shot at some and I actually carry it young enough to trust it so there you go flush fit with the seven round magazine okay nice size three dot sights got a chamber indicator there you can see right down into the case does have a thumb safety you can use it or you don't have to use it one thing I noticed about it I mean their thumb safety is on we still wrap this slide you're gonna rack around in so and it's a fairly stiff thumb safety so the safety is on say and you can use it or not use it it's it's it's a very positive click so it's not gonna come on accidentally the closest kind of protect its kind of recessed so yeah that's your choice on that one alright let's just shoot a couple more shot I think I know where to hold is thanks I'll only try a couple shots across the hill just for fun even though again it's not a long-range gun I just like the sheet over there now these are 115 grain UMC I'm shooting let's go for a pig we were hit ah nice trigger makes me want to shoot too fast I'm gonna go for a a goat okay we're gonna get that old goat I'm gonna pop it one on the Left I guarantee you that's mostly me I take it's a light gun it feels pretty light and it's kind of small so I have to get myself oriented and really look very down I think what I'm gonna do I must will do it now since I kind of do that I'm gonna try some 124 grain ammo that's the bulk stuff the 115 grain ammo this is a little American Eagle here gonna shoot 124 try some different ammo we'll shoot a little hollow point in it to let it get dirty how's that before we do that and got some sh st federal still here that I'll try in it because after all it's a Kerry guy it's a self-defense firearm primarily works for me I'd like like they're all target guns I like to stretch them out and play with them at short range long range and everything but there we go so we get that loaded well for us he does what else did I not tell you you got your sights or driftable up there the front side and you got a middle Allen hex screw there you can adjust your rear sights you have your thumb safety again it's a real positive click so it's your choice use it or not and slide lock don't have a lot of ambi can't it's not a gun that you can you know brag about all that usually not you know no ambi controls on itself it's a small gun and it's your standard trigger there he's got to have the right grip on it it's kind of a safety like oh the Glock heads up under there gotta have a finger on that trigger correctly to pull and it's polymer frame stainless steel slide and it's you familiar the mfp they've been out a long time now and most people are pretty much familiar with them I think this is just a thinner version of it now I have again I've cobbled on these grips so that changes the look up a little bit I even I even go beyond what talent grip offers and I cut one up and I put me a little strip down here you know I I expect a lot out of a grip I do out of a small handgun especially for any handgun and that contacts me right there I do that with my Glocks I do that with all of them I used to tailor my grips myself before I discovered those so I get it just right and go with it I don't really care what it looks like it's not the most important thing to me all right let's relax a little bit here to hit something mr. goat you're going down least you're going to get hit okay okay these are the 124 deranged I don't know that I notice any difference I just have to make sure I get a good trigger break or I think I I end up shooting love all right mr. Turkey you're going down on two I told you you're going down and I want one pig piggy on the right well I don't know they're too hard to hit they keep shooting at not falling but that's okay this not really designed for long-range I have decided though like with any gun you have a shot I can miss with it pretty easily but if I get get the right feel on the trigger it seems to hit right on I mean right on I was popping the rifle plate with it before we started and it just felt good I've got to get in the zone with it but it's it's a good shooter and the trigger has a nice crisp break very very important you know part of a handgun for me that the trigger has a good break good clean break on I don't care how heavy it is I like them a little heavy tell your truth I'm gonna shoot some all these 124 grain around but it seems like a good pistol I'm impressed I have to say seems pretty nice I tell you what it is for me it's I like the PPS it's just it didn't replace anything for me I didn't like it enough to carry it get some videos with it gave my impression this one I like a little better than the PPS I like the standards mag release and it feels a little better I'm not sure what it is even though it has a thin grip it tucks in nicely there's no chance of slight bite there and it I don't know the it just it doesn't feel as thin even though it is pretty thin so I just think I like a little better than the people yes if you like the PBS the Walter or you like the the Ruger lc9 I think you'll really like this gun I really do let's take you more here let's see I'm gonna get brave and try this Firefox on the barrel all right I'm gonna try one of those other turkeys there I think the one on the right all right it's real easy to flinch III pulled low left with it but that's that the hit though I was really focused and got a nice trigger break let me try one more turkey on the right Oh Paul there we go took two hits to kill him alright feels good let's just try it here close now it's loaded up and try it close this is a close range gun obviously and we'll play a little bit more here close and that's it I'm going to put the 115 then it does have a good trigger it's a kind of gun you could I think most people who don't have a gigantic hand like I do will pick this thing up and shoot it really well if they shoot much right off the bat for me the bigger grips the double stack grips don't they fit me like a glove whereas most people think they're a little too large and of course this fit them like a glove what's driving again this is UMC 115 grain ammo and generally works ok not any trouble with this gun of all the shooting so you know one thing I was going to say too with the these slim flying single stack nine-millimeter firearms I sense kind of a obviously there's a trend we see them being manufactured i sense a more of a market more of an interest in this size gun my thing has always been okay if it's not small enough to be a pocket gun and a good pocket holster if it's got to be up on the belt are you gonna wear it on the belt the mods will be a bigger gun because there's a lot of great holsters and it's easy to carry a Glock 26 a big gun you can carry Desert Eagle you know on your on your belt of 1911 full-size they're just some great holsters out there where the weight and the size kind of go away however now I've discovered this myself because recently with all the holsters coming my way I have asked for it well just give me one for the ppk/s if you're gonna send one send me one for maybe the lc9 or for the for the car even you know Carpy m9 which is generally a pocket gun for me by the way you know sometimes it might just be nice to have it right there and so I've experimented with that lately I can see the appeal because there's some appeal for me to in a thinner gun in an inside the waistband holster thinner then say an MMP standard gun or a XDM or or a Glock nine or a Glock 40 they're not that thick but they're just enough thicker than this gun you know then then the car which is the same as this Ruger lc9 those guns are just enough thicker where they're not quite as comfortable these things you know most guns with a good holster a good inside the waistband holster especially the big leather holsters John and I have nation doesn't the you know that cross-breeze the hidden hybrid holsters a white hat all those the big leather holsters with a kind X on they really do allow you to carry almost anything comfortably but you put one of these in them and your gun of this thickness this thinness and it goes away you really don't know you have a firearm okay you can carry anything comfortably but when you get down to this thinness it it really is nice so I think there's a trend towards this a lot with a lot of folks for that reason partly okay let's go down here and do what this gun is designed did the Early's try to I've been playing around long range I guess you could carry it with a safety on or safety off that's your decision it has a fairly heavy trigger you know I don't know that's up to you I'm used to a Glock so I'm probably not going to carry this with the safety on with the thumb safety on now if I were a regular 1911 carrier and I decided I would try this too that might be different because I'm conditioned you know regularly to wipe off that safety with my thumb as I you know for the pulling point the gun but I probably would carry it with that not engaged and it's go for it just though I've used to pull and shoot I'm spoiled by pulling shoot this gun feels good again I'd lose it in my large hand it's pretty thin but it feels pretty good now I've got a couple of targets here I have not engaged one of the leftovers from a fire pot and you notice we still been and we've been picking more coconuts off the farm here so we're going to take care of him - all right don't you love to see metal swing and rang doesn't get any better does it okay no malfunctions not that I expected any I mean I'm not buying trouble you know it's just amazing what the manufacturers were able to do we're living in some really good times if we're if you're a shooter a lot of great guns coming out almost too many right too many choices just just so many great choices this looks like it's one of them the M&P shield it's a good sized gun it's a gun that it may not be your favorite gun or a gun that you want it's come out and 40 by the way - but there's not a lot not to like about it you know I I really I don't have any negatives I I just can't think of any negatives that the trigger is fine and I'm really picky about triggers and it's a good sized little gun for me it's not a pocket gun it's a holster gun it could be a pocket you need it to but it's just a slim little little holster gun for me that's very convenient it's striker-fired you know I like - Drock you're fired guns and I've been a long fan of Smith & Wesson I will admit back in the 90s 80s I was not a huge fan of the Smith & Wesson autoloaders I just wasn't until they start coming out with em and Peas and you know these kinds of things and these are really nice guns so that's my first look at the the shield I'd rather like it and it's just a pretty cool little gun life's pretty good [Music]
