hi michael and i are enjoying a little man time with his fire i want michael to talk to us our viewers about this fire pit that he made and i'm really fascinated with it i'd like to have one for myself and maybe our viewers would like to build one for themselves too so it's a smoke-free fire so as he talks maybe the smoke will go away when it gets hot enough so talk to us about what how you came up with this anything you want to talk about well this is uh an old science actually and uh i didn't i'm no engineer or anything you know a note they do have something called the solo stove that you can buy that is a smokeless campfire it's made out of stainless steel if the technology fascinates you but it's just a matter of letting the oxygen into the fire correctly to burn the smoke now right here we got wet wood we the wood is great big chunk so it's producing a little bit of smoke fire has to get hot in or the iron here has to get hot so it can be a smokeless fire you usually get the flame way up here big bright orange flame really nice in the night time and you don't you could sit really close to the fire like this and not get smoke in your eyes is what's really nice i do have it shielded from breezes in here which helps the smoke go straight up any that would come and sparks but it's basically this outer tank here there's an outer tank and an inner tank the inner tank is suspended off the ground about an inch and there's holes cut in the iron all the way around to let in more oxygen the oxygen feeding this fire has to go up over the first tank the bigger one it goes up over that and then goes down to the holes on the way down that oxygen is superheated you're sending hot oxygen into the fire rather than just cold oxygen the whole purpose of this thing and this can be even made better i've just recently redesigned all this and now i've made it a little bit different so i gotta get iron out some kinks to even make it burn better but it's getting that oxygen hot before it gets to the fire and still oxygen rich and it burns the another thing that will make a difference here is putting some holes all the way around the top here to let in a little bit of oxygen most of it's going to go in down through the bottom you want a little bit going in rob probably right about here that oxygen going in right there is going to even further help burn the smoke and uh anyways it's uh for me it's just been tinkering with it i've been building campfires all my life uh you get tired of the smoke in your eyes you know and there's all different kinds of ways to do a campfire different the indians mountain men people knew about a that's called a dakota fire pit and it's actually a fire pit with a hole dug in the ground right beside that fire pit and you connect the two holes the fire pit and that air vent with a little tunnel and the air has to go down one of those pits and it comes back up the other one which is the fire pit that will reduce your smoke way down too now these are back in the days when you didn't want everybody to see your smoke somebody see your smoke in a war party of indians that start heading for you and they think you know it's true like in the what was that movie uh dances with wolves and there's a thin line of smoke going up and they would say only a white man would make a fire for the whole world to see you know that was true but there was ways of keeping that fire smoked down and they knew how okay um that's what we're doing right here one day you might need to cook food with no smoke to tell where you are at the times that we're coming into people might want to start thinking um anyway um i don't know how far you want to go with this but you know me i would you'll give me a chance and it won't stop well michael i'm sitting here and feeling warm i'm seeing about three or four feet away from the uh the the what do you call that fire pit stove any particular name for it i don't know if i put a name on it yet uh it's just a couple of little steel tanks with us um i guess i should that one over there's got a name that's called bear stone and uh that would be the second one i built now and that's a water heater it's a smoker it will heat up that big steel box there the conics and the hot tub and a dehydrator all of those functions will come off that so we won't use this one as much i smell a little plastic is it the plastic getting hot on the outside i think that there yeah there was something on the edge of this that's about okay um that got right here just let me get right there we should scrape that off there and throw it in it might have been a piece of garbage or something that's it oh this is a metal i thought this place this is a metal box all right yes steel tank i thought this plastic is steel okay so it was all rusted out of it it was a little uh watering trough for animals well i think that was miner they got a hole in it yeah it was behind the barn the bottom was all smashed right it was full of holes so i just cut the bottom off of it and saved the good thing a little history my horses drank out of that years ago so uh i like it starting to have less smoke now and as i get moved farther away the heat heat is uh get reaching me back here so the idea here is he's got a uh an outdoor sitting area made uh you know with these seats and things where you can gather and feel the heat from back here on this bench it's really really awesome rather than just build a fire also would be a little bit more dangerous to build a fire just on the ground here in this area with a house around but in the stove it's contained and puts a lot of heat this is really great i had the idea that in our new house backyard or front yard i i would like to build one of these how easy is that today it's like an old water heater yes uh propane tank i think was all that was so easy to do so i think with the description that michael provided with the holes and stuff you know it could be easily be reproduced now the question i have is where is the ins inside tank i don't really see a well this is the steel part right here is the inside tank this one's the outside the middle one i had another one inside of that okay we took that out here recently so this is actually like the first burn without that part okay so this is one one layer here and this the steel is considered the outside tank so it's got to take the air down this this gap here it's got to go shoot straight down to the bottom okay now i see where i put when i put my hand inside here that air is super hot really hot uh inside between this tank and that tank the air is like i can't put my hand more than about a hand a couple inches down there it's so super hot so the air is going in this gap going down all the way around this tank the firebox tank is set off the ground on blocks iron blocks so it can suck air underneath it and come up now i get it i want to put big river rocks in there ones that will just kind of drop in there and a bunch of them and they're going to be like a heat sink they're going to get very hot and air will still be able to get down past them so i think it's might even make the air hotter before it gets to the fire i i see that and i saw this an experiment well folks we're enjoying michael a lot uh he came over here from hawaii he was they lived here michael and susan lived here and in our community in a little log cabin that we helped them build for a number of years then they went to alaska and then hawaii and then from there i've been here about three or three four years now and he might be called back to hawaii for a short or long period of time he's still praying about that but we're supporting them on their journey and you know they may come back again who knows or they may stay it's a little up in the air but whatever time we have with michael we enjoy it and the community really enjoys michael checking that smoke out so what we try to do here in our community our church our our family here we try to be a place where people can really feel at home and if they need to leave somewhere we want to bless them as they go because there's different missions all around the country around the world people feel called to go to so we try to support that and even though we miss people when they do go but they sometimes they go and sometimes they come we feel like our place and many of you viewers have seen our log home videos and videos and the community videos and things we we feel called to be a place of of family and community and safety and just a place to be a last place to live where people come and visit come and live and then also they leave they come it's like in and out you come and you go you come in you go so we feel that's healthy a healthy rhythm where you have a safe place to be as long as you need to be there and then you have some blessing when you do leave and go places so now this backyard is something else i like it anything any final thoughts or any thoughts on this fire or your surrounding what final words you have for the viewers i would say that the things that you mentioned the family this community this ranch this is what it has been to me a family and uh you know even an old dinosaur neanderthal like me you know i i've been here i've spent years here with these people and i i don't know how they can keep from running me out of here me nail me to a tree or something but you know this is definitely a god thing and god put it together and he's building it and uh i'm proof of that i mean i'm still here and i'm unscathed hardly even bruised [Laughter] but anyway special place and god's anointing is here this is it's called consecrated to god this town that we live in or close by and there's an anointing on this place too so may the lord's spirit go with us wherever we are before us under us over us behind us and guide our steps closer and closer to his will and in his will brighter and brighter that's really good that's uh michael's always passionate we love hearing him uh what's on his heart and we're gonna end the video for now and if we have a chance if he doesn't go to hawaii too quickly hopefully we can get some more video of things like this that michael does around the place i'm gonna stand up on this bench get a quick aerial view around our ariel a little quick view there's the neighbors that used to be our house well we still own it but two families live in it now it's our barn shop meadowlark log homes is over that way and then this is his container that he keeps working on for living quarters he could sell it moving it take it somewhere who knows but this is michael and this is the things he does with his hands collects wood and builds things from wood and one of my many camps talks to the to the lord talks to god by the fire here and collects firewood does gardening just all kinds of things so um that's good for now we thank all of you for watching hope you're encouraged by the words that michael shared and uh it all started out with a fire pit which i'm very enthused about this is very cool and you can do that so comments below subscribe to the channel hopefully we do more with michael here god bless everyone and thanks for watching as we wrapped up here we've been talking for half an hour so the smoke pretty much went away okay just put another piece on there but the smoke had completely cleared out that was pretty awesome any final words uh mike uh as we part for the day well it's been a blessed visit and that our vision is definitely getting sharper and sharper we have been sharpening each other's swords in the spirit of the lord here and uh we just uh lift up hands to the lord and say lead on that which you're building we want to be included show us our part in it so we just uh built a whole lot just by speaking together and sharing the same spirit in the lord so lord lead on do your thing glorify your name hey man yeah now we got almost no smoke coming out yes so that's really i just tossed in another wood here a minute ago so just stirred it up a little bit but it's pretty well basically smokeless now thank you mike i'll have to leave and we'll see you next time yes i got to go get them two girls years again down here and we're going to make some sawdust today so awesome all right
