Mount Fuji RUINED My Day

Mount Fuji majestic iconic spectacular absolute nightmare to see in person and that is because at 3,776 meters Mount Fuji spends most of its time with its head in the clouds to the point that in the last six years of living in Japan I've only ever seen it three or four times and so today we've come to try and see it and capture it once and for all on camera by coming to the number one best spot to see it in all of Japan lake kawaguchi [Music] fuji-q Japan's greatest theme park the notorious al-qaeda Hara forest the country's most photographed pagoda plastered across every Japan Travel Guide the world over there's a lot going on in the lake kawaguchi area and with my impending 2000 kilometers cycle across Japan what better place to get some practicing than bicycling 20 kilometers around the lake and to spice things up a bit I won't be going alone either so for the cycle across Japan I'm trying to get various friends taking part joining in so recently I've been holding auditions to see which friends can actually cycle which friends are actually good at cycling but that in mind let me introduce our first contestant Sharla not in Japan anymore fun fact Charlo and I have known each other five years now and this is the first time you've ever really appeared in the video well I'm always seen use like an enemy now you live in Korea you're not arrival anymore what are your strengths they're energetic think I could handle a cycle across Japan weaknesses weaknesses weaknesses spiders roller coasters is probably the only two things that I can't handle roller coaster you say we're right next fuji-q highland park it big you're not going there today well we've come all this way I think we should go to the best thing okay so we got our bikes I've also got my obnoxiously orange bag but people on the International [ __ ] Space Station could probably see but here's a map it's give you a sense of scale whose Mount Fuji and here is where we are and today we're gonna start here go all the way around the lake and end at Singam park where the nice pagoda is that you see in all the promotion pamphlets psycho Batcave I'm not too enthusiastic about going somewhere called psycho Batcave what look in the morning let's get going keep up this is actually the first time I've cycled more than 20 kilometers in three years so it's pretty serious day this will dictate how scared I am before the teeth hasn't kilometer cycle if today goes well then I'll be kind of happy and excited about the cycle because she's already favored taking absolute showers unbelievable [Music] oh my god it looks amazing is what I would be saying if we can actually see it still in the clouds still in the clouds so we're 20 minutes into the cycle according to the fitness tracker thing we've done 6 kilometers and burn 350 calories so it's time to get a little bit cheeky cheeky breakfast in hey feelin hungry well I've got a amazing breakfast this is a Fuji cider like lemonade and of course the ultimate breakfast the breakfast of champions Kit Kat strawberry cheesecake flavor the Kit Kat flavour unique to Fuji enjoy my first heard cider in Japan I thought yeah apple cider but actually cider in Japan is just effectively lemonade right you don't know how nice mostly of carbonated air the natural yeah an actual beverage like it'd be good if you're into the bubbles what's your favorite Japanese Kit Kat flavour sarpy I love wasabi I used to eat them like frivolously but then I went to a capsule hotel and I ate like 20 and then kind of sleep for like 10 days and start to knead them every game anyway this is like one the few flavors I'm trying I've never had actually strawberry cheesecake somehow that represents Mountain oh wow sorry sleep powder I'm weird because they're really old with the grow them from this little tiny arguably crappy souvenir shop the man was very grumpy didn't seem enthusiastic at all to receive our custom how'd you actually feel um it's been really nice the view is gorgeous hmm we've done what six climbers so far mm-hmm strawberry cheesecake flavor Kit Kat verdict 1 to 10 7 August oh yeah snores gives the sake flavor what about the Fujiyama cider drink 1 to 10 [ __ ] out of 10 [Music] how you feeling Sharla good I must admit the KitKat's did leave me wanting more I think I think we're gonna grab some lungs to be honest yes so you probably wondering why I chose you to come on this trip to Maui yeah we both climb Mount Fuji Sharla and I different times there until last month I had the number-one Mount Fuji video ever on YouTube but then he got demonetised cuz I stupidly use the soundtrack boy he was the Yoshida brothers you teach English as well have a wave of them this is all a conspiracy because now Sharla's actually got a number one video on Mount Fuji so she worked with the objetive others to [ __ ] me basically but one thing she can't take away from me of course is that I do have a more famous birthday on famous birthdays calm is a real website make like real people look his/her stupid fence for like 10 years ago shower in Japan four thousand seven hundred seventy fourth most popular birthday okay xxx most famous 32 year old web star she'd be where the claim there I love that I'm so hungry I don't even stating because I'm so I want to get this done I want it there you go look at this handsome young man here 2997 Wow 2004 more famous birthdays even if you do it the number one Malthusian video I've got more famous Burton go in that space so that's that's better anyway oh my god that's the best view I've ever seen in my entire life is what I would have said if we can actually see it that's Mel Fuji right there you can see the base of it stretching across the horizon but now I'm starting to get a bit worried we spend a lot of time and resources to come here today we've got Sharla in Japan who doesn't even live in Japan aníbal and we've got a really nice cameraman there's still no Mount Fuji I'm a little bit disappointed and a little bit concerned I actually had a perfect view of the mountain this morning at 5:30 you were snoring away you actually wait what you actually saw Mount Fuji this morning zero cloud zero why didn't he wake me up I've traveled all the way here from northern Japan just to see it you didn't even wake me up why have I brought it why why are you here today what unbelievable it's something quite weird up there there's like a little cow style hotel all the rooms like a little capsule blocks we should have saved there yeah it looks really cool you know in the friends you have an amazing view of Mount Fuji yeah an amazing view it brightly [Music] six years I've waited for this view and it is magnificent is what I would have said if we'd seen Mount Fuji but it's not here again that said it's a nice view and I feel pretty I feel pretty good about myself yes I mean we finished the 20 kilometer cycle that was great well done yeah and and even more difficult than the cycle with the stairs to actually get a way to climb up a little mountain along the stairs of despair I used to have this little guidebook before I came to Japan this was the the front cover this shot here with Mount Fuji so I'm a little bit disappointed that I've come all the way here for the first time ever and we can't see it but what we could do in this day and age is use CGI trickery computer special effects to make it look like there's actually a Mount Fuji right behind us [Music] so you did a pretty good job today Charlene did do the 20 kilometres and you were almost able to keep up with me I feel like you've almost passed the test but not quite you're missing something what well let's face it you don't have as famous a birthday as I do so I feel like there's one more test that you should pass and that is the biggest roller coaster in Japan ever at fuji-q highland park which is literally just over there somewhere yeah we're doing it No face your fears face your fears do the roller coaster and you come the cycle yes yes oh wait no I have a little bit scared [Music] [Laughter] how do you know it was it was pretty much never-ending he did it he passed the test you could come on the cycle yeah awesome well we completely failed to see Mount Fuji that said there's loads to do this error made a good time fuji-q the pagoda the food the views are amazing they worry me if you come here you know it's lots to do even if you don't see Mount Fuji and who knows maybe you might be luckier than we were but for now guys that's all many thanks for watching and we'll
