Morningstar DESTROYS EVERYTHING! (I ALMOST DIED!)

on this episode of make it real we're making morning star's weapon for marvel's contest of champions then we're gonna test it and finally see what happens when we pit it against captain america's shield [Music] hey guys it's the hacksmith last month you saw me make my interpretation of civil warrior shield a captain america shield complete with an arc reactor built right into the middle well marvel contests of champions liked our project so much they asked us to try making one of their other characters weapons this time morningstar if you don't recognize the name that's okay cause her character has a pretty dark and deep lore she was originally known as queen hassan an evil ruler of the kingdom of languria ruling her people with a demonic sword the people rose up and defeated her sealing her in a mystical iron maiden to suffer for all of eternity lucky for her mephisto offered her a chance for vengeance and the prince of lies granted her a new life in the tortured form of her walking iron tomb and the weapon for which she is named the morningstar well damn i definitely don't want to mess with her anyway this project is going to be even more work than civil warrior shield it's going to involve a lot of heavy metal fabrication so i think the whole team is going to get involved and since bogdan was a bit jealous that i got to design the civil warrior shield he's going to design this one then we're going to build it together as a team take it away bogdan to do the design i'm going to be referencing the official marvel contest of champions cosplayer guide lucky for us my silver warrior [Music] [Music] all right fully welded getting some weight to it i mean it is a hacksmith project after all next up grinding for the handle of the morningstar we're gonna use three pieces of box tube that fit into each other quite nicely we can use a chop saw to cut it into the intricate pattern of the real morning star and then weld it together to give it that true solid feel intricate so we're actually going to have to fabricate it from scratch using our cnc plasma cutter [Music] my favorite part all right so the funny thing is this isn't even all the chain links we actually have 27 total chain links to make this for the morning star now what we actually did is we designed two different chain links one solid one and one that's pre-bent open and what that means is after we've ground them we can actually put them together like this squeeze them shut weld it and bam we have this super intricate crazy looking chain nope i broke it so to make this chain look a bit better we're actually gonna have to bevel all the edges by grinding it so let's get started [Music] all right that only took 20 minutes i think i'm gonna need some help on this let's get the whole team involved so [Applause] [Applause] time to start welding all right so the process for welding this chain together is to take two solid links and one open link put the two solid links on bend it shut and now we just have to weld that seam shut and then fill in this bend over here so let's do it and now we just have to fill the other side all right now we'll just have to grind those edges again and do 27 more of these [Music] that took a while [Music] all right so we have all the pieces done we still have a bit more uh work to make it look a bit prettier but i want to assemble this and see what it's like to swing around so let's do that that has some weight to it whoa all right let's finish this up and then we can test it for real all right we're almost done building morningstar's weapon but the question is how are we going to recreate the burning red glow of the soul she's captured well the answer is quite simple we're going to use this i think that'll work great plus the nice thing is this will be super durable we'll be able to swing around the morning star without it going out and it's also going to mean we can light things on fire and wow it's kind of hot as you know we love lighting things on fire [Music] instead of painting the morning star we're going to heat it up and form a thin layer of oxide on the surface which is going to give it a really cool blue hue and prevent it from rusting let's do it it's really nice now we just have to do this to the entire thing [Music] [Music] [Music] all right let's see what this thing can do time for berserk mode wow holy this is actually really hard wow [Music] [Applause] ah ugh and that's hacksmith berserker mode now this is for marvel contests of champions so i think we should test this out against our last project
