MINECON 2015 Costume Competition

ladies and gentlemen please welcome beer and Martin I forgot to wait for the music to quiet down hello everyone you may recognize this guy here we are minecon 2015 costume contest well we didn't really tell people is that this is actually the semi-finals oh okay yeah so tonight during the live show which no one really knows what it is do you know what it is I've heard rumors okay I heard that parts are known but we've never seen the whole embellished product Shh don't tell people that well tonight we will have the final five and we will do the final part of the costume contest tonight but here today we have a massive it's hard to see but we have a massive line of people who have dressed up in their Saturday best to be here and show you their love for Minecraft Wow oh I was wondering like Hello so we have our panel of judges who are going to come up right now please join us judges and what we're looking for in a costume as any good judge knows it's creativity and how much work and love you see in the product that they created have you seen any good ones yet Martin yeah I kind of had a walk down the line I've seen LEDs I've seen kind of like group costumes as well they're quite light tighten it in together so I'm excited it's quite dark over there so I've not had too many spoilers yeah no I think we should keep it dark so we don't smoke over there and judges so what are you guys going to be looking for when judging this costume contest hello No hey yeah there Mike sorry Lydia could speak for everybody it's fine hello there we go so what were you saying creativity creativity yeah I mean just the sort of the work that goes into it and everybody's just putting amazing just thoughts and it's just I love it I've seen like there's like dragon costumes in editor in costumes so it's just the creativity sorry it's not very good original I'll go with originality so nothing really say all right well we're gonna start bringing people up and here's the thing you're gonna be here for a while there are a lot of people who are gonna come up so we can save our applause for towards the end so your hands are not totally beaten together by the end of this otherwise the applause would just kind of go down naturally but not due to lack of enthusiasm so we're gonna bring people up who may talk to them a little bit about their costume if they can't talk through the costume we may not do that there's a lot of helmets that works but let's start bringing people up I already feel like I want to run away off the stage right now already whoa look at this even the legs work if I was in a dark room and I saw those two piercing bulbs I'd be terrified that's amazing that's amazing I love to find a staff that's perfect well okay I almost said give her a round of applause but I had just told you not to do that but seriously awesome first contact costume all right Lydia says to let you applause let's do this oh my god so good you guys have terrifying in the best way possible my favorite part is the the feet because they kind of flopped when he moves it's the best that is awesome that is so cool all right thank you so much we're gonna move you on over here I think navigating people it's gonna be the most difficult thing and just go straight towards him right there thank you all right Wow family what's not behind those during the opening ceremony and I happen to know this early during the opening ceremony well hello guys so what is the theme of this costume diamond casual wear casual wear excellent well come on up to the front of the stage all together here it's so cool how long did it take to put all of these together how long did it take to put all of these together actually this was made by my good friend Kathy Jones of god save the queen' fashions in Atlanta and it took about three weeks and that's where they all four of them as a whole he's brilliant how long did it take you to put it all on okay judges I can't be that I'm a kind of biased judge in this case because it's friends but adorable I love it the family that plays together stays together yeah I love that everybody's matching I like how the kids have shorts but but you have pants it's awesome and I'm digging your crinoline I like it whoo I love it thank you guys good to see you this is dedication Wow this is amazing I'm just gonna understand a lie down here for a second here we go how's it how's it going down here how long did this costume take to put together about two weeks and I think the most important question is how did you tackle the stairs just there because it's really hard to cool and are you able to stand up when you wanna crawl across the whole thing I'm sure my time he gets over to the judges they'll be able to you'll be able to get across it Oh judges what do we think dedication is the word less I would say that is awesome I actually saw that walking like around the expo hall and I was a little confused because they were carrying it in a different way and I thought it was uh like the wolf but it's amazing I like your doing like the worm crawling so awesome that's what I was gonna comment on did you practice the the silverfish wiggle can you do a little little wiggle that's a multi-piece costume that definitely deserves a round of applause he only for the there we go geeks all right we're gonna let him walk we're not that cold here we go here we go okay this is up there in the top ten it's pretty um strangest experiences of my life it's true ya know play a lot of Minecraft but nothing quite like this alright let's bring up our next person oh I'm scared I'm really hoping there's no projectiles off this winner back away and leave you oh wow the LEDs go all the way around or is it just on the front I see that's amazing how long did this take to put together 15 hours to put this together Wow so we got cardboard with pain we've got LEDs all over the place oh wow each pixel is a different piece as well so if actually I brought this together as one huge humongous piece this is very impressive I'm scared that the projectile heads are going to come flying out what do you think judges I it's amazing like the lights are awesome it reminds me of like Christmas lights and like outlines a skeleton super cool I'm really diggin the glitter paint on those front panels I like that if Withers looked as awesome as that I might not be so scared of them let's look at the audience and give them a good look pretty cool huh thank you so cool straight to exam Wow this is brilliant I've seen people make paper crafts wands but this is next-level is the raw we can get out of there sorry Roy we can get out there a raw nice that's actually pretty good I wasn't expecting that and who are you who are you playing in relation to the dragon I'm the Dragons master oh right okay we got the sword to tame him as well what do you think judges a duo piece I love the purple eyes that's very authentic you want to turn this way people could see the eyes there's like a very thin bit of kind of like purple netting so you're still able to see through it but it's your one more or one more rawr this is amazing this is like a tiny Enderman it's an Enderman isn't it sorry ender dragon okay oh wow they've got the wings out the back the wings flap obvi do all this is brilliant and the tail is all individual pieces and it's all stuffed this is great did you make this by yourself or with some other people about a week so he took a moment back a week that's great have you been wearing this to school or anything as well probably enough goes against the dress code it's not quite school uniform what do we think judges the most adorable cosplay yet you're so adorable can I have a hug awesome well thank you so much wave to the audience all right okay oh my god it's the Mojang logo they're the secret's out I should point out he does have some padding across the bottom of this so he didn't just fall onto the hard ground he's got a giant bit of styrofoam inside of there which is good how many times have you practice that fall none just winged it that's exactly what I knew right now this is great did it hurt more than you expected a bit it's the adrenaline the adrenaline keeps it going before that's why I was aiming for what do you think judges the logo did you is there like a mattress pad on the side that you flopped on you really thought this through I'm impressed head pad that's good let's give her a round of applause for the Mojang lowdown oh this is very cool here we dressed as rich dog from the Yogscast rich dog room he's a friend of mine this is great so this is like the whole foot to head to everything how did you do much research to kind of bring the costume together research you could say that took about nearly two years of gathering fan art but the costume took about three weeks to put together you've got a little pocket watch there as well would you say that rich looks your favorite your cast member or is there someone who you might prefer more don't worry it's okay okay good good that's good let's find out what the judges think so everybody this is rich dog from the yogscast his minecraft character what do you think Andrew I think it's amazing I really like the boots like I feel like it completes the outfit that's amazing you did an awesome job it was mostly handmade my dad's that I had to his golf trousers that I had to steal he's happy it'll be fine now you're now you've been on the screen it was worth it it was worth it thank you very much there we go all right we're gonna start moving people along a little bit faster because we have way more than we really expected so things will move around a little quicker these are a much more recent addition to the game yeah I mean still scare me I don't understand how they work I just know they hurt me whenever I'm near them I don't like it there's this area right can we even say hello it's no there's no way of saying hello it's fine that's the huge tail out the back as well that's great ah oh my god that is awesome I God this is brilliant I appreciate that the shoes is the footwear as well excellent do you ever give a name to chickens or pets in the game I always try not to because eventually I'm anyway whoa this is great there's a top hat and everything different exits up here alive that is brilliant can you I think you can just about see we go hello I almost poked you in the eye how's it going can you say hi yeah we can just sneak out the tub don't turn around for it so you see the crowd look here we go that's brilliant yeah thank you so much oh I know this guy I feel like there should be somewhere around to appreciate this it's Trey Oris Robin as well if I were if I was doing any kind of crime I'd see these two whoa oh I think this might be a squid is this a squid squid we've got LEDs across the front there at the mouth and we got the eyes on the side eye let's let the audience see you look out at the audience look at that in their core that's brilliant I think this is up there with adorableness hello there the team here we dressed us brilliant okay and then we've got two other people as well well we dressed up skin up aurelion alien okay brilliant and yourself I'm dressed as a microscope of fixed of you amazing it's nice to see other youtubers represented over here it's brilliant so there we go you want to give it a little way to this camera just here in the crowd oh that's a serious that means business guys I feel like the kneepads could have been given to that other guy who fell over thank you so much amazing costumes yeah they would be super super happy love the wig yeah well shuffle over a little bit cha-cha slide there we go oh this is really okay I'm assuming you're a Minecraft character correct like a player yeah and is this the pic that you're trying to lead with the carrot brilliant stuff does he actually follow it does it not have agreement so this is this father-son or brothers or father certain our family cosplay this the second one today that's awesome that's amazing thank you very much follow that carrot right there probably the three mobs I'm scared most in the game we are nether we are and we got a widow out the back as well probably the most work out the front so the Jew three help each other make these costumes or did you work on them individually it was a nice little group effort what about the what about the weather back here how did you make yours my grandma made it that's adorable there we go nice three piece of mobs thank you very much you guys great job guys there you go oh this is a self-contained one now these are these your legs supposed to mimic them we've got the LB view about the chest out the back that's brilliant for storage and the carrot on the stick shoe this is my shoes yeah these are adorable little gold shoes right do a trot right here real quick give us a twirl the legs are in me I didn't notice the potion there as well there's a little potion smash down the side there as well what was that sorry Oh what this big pink noises oh you look like a little switch that's very cool awesome thank you guys I want to make a texture pack where the baby zombies have pink sneakers another family creeper squad I'm getting a bit of a Slenderman vibe off the guy at the back it's pretty terrifying so here we go what's your name my name is it's nice to be here we got another zombie down here we got a creeper we've got lots of different stars so we are you all family I feel like this guy's gonna be am you I just want to check I just want to ask how are you enjoying Minecon so far we spoke he said it's really good so far in just here so - yeah there we go thank you there so did you have to buy the back end sort of custom paint it Oh brilliant we get a little twirl with the dress as well you've got all the little squares as well drawing on for the creepers typical style that's amazing give the crowd away federal give her a bit of a round of applause every brilliant there we go thank you so much I love the black artwork on your legs it's amazing hello there you're right I think this is our first Ocelot yeah and who we got here as well what you dressed as oh it's your skin Oh brilliant I've seen people dresses over youtubers but never as themselves and is amazing that's great so are you related or you just friends yeah oh you never met before oh okay there we go Oh unless I've got some technical issues it's fine be if you wanted a quick rate to the camera there we go what do you think of this one judges I know Lydia you said you wanted originality your own skin is about as original as it gets it's a brave step thanks guys Wow Wow okay that is too much I thought the silver fish was that okay yeah I know this is teamwork I just I'm in or the coordination are we okay over here oh and there's flashing lights in that I'm here in the spider eyes I'm gonna definitely to people right it's no more than two I see feet here and there how's it going in there is this is this easy to move around it no I don't think so can we get a hello from the guy that's in here it's very claustrophobic in there dedicate it's only for a few more seconds what are you nervous a GOP the attention to detail is amazing like the the blinking LEDs on the spider eyes Wow in the court did you guys practice beforehand because yeah that's a good question did you guys practice how to move around in this thing no just everybody's way I get it I like it it's amazing they're doing a good job thank you so much guys thanks guys there we go there was a person inside I might end up in a costume oh wait no this isn't a creeper this is a this is a grass block isn't it hello you enjoying my con so far this is brilliant how long did this take to put together I don't know George I want to take charge oh wow and he did this all by himself this is fantastic this is really really cool looks great loving it well thank you everyone I'm liking this theme there's common trends --iv like why these animals this one they made the shoes oh wow they shoes are we going barefoot for this one big feet that legs as well what are the legs stuck with is actually newspaper oh okay wrapping paper that makes sense this is a huge costume how long did this take to put together how many three weeks Oh a couple of weeks oh okay and there's the carriage I know one specific or is it just I see you and say oh oh it's Alex I've got you that's a quickie sitting that's so yeah it's so many riding one this week that's fantastic thank you so thank you this guy is so cool he's got the shades on he's looking cool raging contagion raging contagion this is brilliant so we all here as a group yep oh this is very cool I've never seen a sword koala this one before we've got the is this an emblem or have you literally like glued a Golden Apple yeah that glues it golden Athlon is that for the the health boost decorational just as I'm carrying a golden apple oh cool amazing stuff and we got a creepy here what are these parts about is this to sort of be a mixture always it go okay I didn't see this okay let's let's peach the camera just here so one side we've got the creeper maybe turned slightly we've got the gas the slime and a little bit more and we've got the Enderman on the other side as well so we're covering like four bases with this this is brilliant nice wait this might be I think this might be heroin hello are you dressed as heroin do you really exist that's ominous thank you so much I'm Rachel contagion how you enjoying minecon so far good stuff thank you very much guys thanks guys appreciate it great job guys spiders and the ocelots it's a lot of chronic this time he's even cleaning himself staining character is really dedicated to the heart that's fantastic thank you so much guys there we go nice job your customs look great oh hello we dressed that lady i night from the by night series Wow okay cool how many people in the audience watch my night that's a lot of fans there's a lot of hands going up this is brilliant well so you see the whole thing that is fantastic very original piece as well thank you very much thank you Tim it's futile of the scepter that's brilliant hello there we good we've got Emily do we have anything stored inside of here yeah you've got flint and steel obsidian it going to the nether Oh amazing just be careful when you there is it's pretty warm like this Convention Center today actually maybe next time next time thank you so much you guys come on through awesome craftsmanship oh my god it's more ender things this for me oh it's a little Enderman with a little grass block and if anybody be able to see that it's adorable so we all come together and it's been a stew with the ender dragon over here hello there Oh until you're at the top okay cool how many take to put this little headpiece together okay so I spend a lot of time on that you want to get the crowd wave and see how it looks there we go thank you so much you three awesome job guys ah fee we got our first mooshroom yes Mushu the dress is incredible and it even has a tiny little mushroom on the waistband that's well I like the bows as well everything matches really really cool this is definitely one of the coolest on this is I'm not supposed to take favorites but no this is one of mine I'm not a judge so no we don't have to I have no influence brilliant thank you very much thank you I love that dress I won't wonder where to do my hair oh my god the squad is rolling through come across a little bit more cosplay that I've seen that use face paint so far that's I'm loving the monorail thank you who we dressed as let's pretend we didn't see no no that's fine okay just hold it there over there it's fine it's all good that's it just did they cover it over thank you okay we tape there we go noses are oh wow this looks difficult to move around the work is very very impressive there we go oh hello there you did okay in there you have any good time at Minecon so far and is this is this your minecraft skin that you play with originality I absolutely love it there we go what do we think judges another original skin that they're wearing and even a name play out the top as well and it's transparent so it looks the real deal that's fantastic so impressed that you're able to walk in that costume great job it might take a little while to get across I'm gonna help you over this way here we go oh we're getting they're all different styles as well we go P dot I really really like the rib cage design we've got going on with the tape on the front there and then this is of course an Enderman yeah are you able always get some really nice kind of like collaborative and hybrid thing that's impressed that you knew who they were yeah it's like poop is a slightly retired character but I'm an oldie but there we going on here we've got quite like blank the Enderman just let's look out towards the audience so they can see it's kind of a contrast we've got this and then we've got their two happiest cosplayers I've ever seen in my whole life and you dress this ballistic squid yes and I'm gonna guess you must be Sam pica and we do we have a name I said good to meet you Isaak how long did it take to put all this together oh okay you just been to your prom okay it's really good stuff you like the whiskers here they're very : they're kind of my little wireframe and actually psycho fluffy yeah it's actually like a furry I guess a beard beard but it works that's fantastic thank you very much guys thanks guys awesome work these are very very cool cosplays I really like this dress as well we go a little closer with this dress this dress is essentially to see this close a Minecraft world we've got like a door and the stones making the house we've got all the different kinds of walls across the bottom there which it beneath like the surface level this is very cool did you make this yourself or with somebody else I'm well we're done it's very very cool and your costume as well we got the creeper top just there how long did this take to put together to get all the pieces weeks two weeks oh cool is the face paint getting itchy yeah a little bit I love both of your costumes it's very intricate oh she has a oh yeah I didn't see that another portal oh wow wait hold on this that actually floating you're not really there you're not really there it's fine it's a sleeping and flying bird itself and we've got Steve who looks very very surprised about the whole situation but I love people say go say oh okay amazing stuff we've got shoes as well this is brilliant I was like oh sure yeah there's a it out there and say that I think the wither is the most popular costumers yeah which is surprising totally different it used to be the creeper but it's been outdone this year I leave actually holding them on both hands as well that is brilliant they are floating did you make this by yourself or with some friends with mom oh if your mum that is brilliant gonna give me something over 12 so we can everybody makes that they never intend to me not a pickaxe but it's fine it's one of a shovel but there we go guys thank you so much thank you guys I'm not sure I could ever dedicate to a costume to dye my hair that is dedication I guess also like that the custom is the body yeah really well hello there I like this like belt we've gone we got lots of tools going around it hello to you as well that was tricking the hello this is very cool I mean we've got on the shirts as well if you turn around for it slightly we've got that just there oh we dressed is oh I see okay this is never a custom skin it's just brilliant got some headphones on the side of there as well very very good this is rock join the music in the background he's enjoying Minecon okay we're back to the mount it yes I love all of the mountain costumes yeah just it's just such a fun thing these are guys what's your name Levi and then who else we got what's your name sorry howdy nice to meet you too so we've got a peek being ridden we've got the diamond sword and we even have and this is very cool actually this is one of the jinx swag backs it is and it's got a little a little baby pea goo in the side of it as well which is quite cute and it's all been held together like this one's over the shoulders and this one's more kind of around the waist it's nice to see the very designs exactly everyone does of their own way it's very very cool thank you very much thanks guys looks like a lot of work went into those I think I recognize this skin do you I think so hmm hello there we dressed up for somebody mm-hmm is it one of the first wolves we've seen isn't it yeah cool so did you help each other make the costumes you did are fantastic and I've noticed this while we've got the little mushrooms on the top of the Hat we've got the little ears as well are they attached that like headbands are they ah ok brilliant even got the fur for the wolf as well that's great thank you so much ut it's guys yeah I think it might have been my jobs hello there are you ok we've got head to toe creeper this is fantastic how's it going you enjoying mind con yeah and then what we dressed as is it an ocelot yeah yeah got the little like the little cute nose drawing and the whiskers as well and they give me a little wave to the crowd there we go you know I've just noticed the tail thank you perfect it's great the tail is the best everybody's way even is they come on now this is good it's welcoming it's great so this might well be the first snow golem it is the first snow guy their roots in a snow golem I mean nobody terrified that it's wielding a sword okay yeah you better run you better treat behind the judges for a moment I'll let food this is great costumes how long it take you to make this a month nice and the crowd as well there we go this is our last costume final one of the afternoon I'm a little apprehensive about this I want to pull the lever opens there are pyrotechnics shall I do it it could be a delayed reaction that's true yes it's miles of redstone what was that sorry oh are you dressed up as your own minecraft skin you are fantastic gonna give us a little swirly for able to fantastic on there's even a creeper skin on the back if you come back round this way slightly keep on turning around for us right on the back there we've got the giant creeper logo that is brilliant stuff for they work everybody that is the final costume of the costume contest great work so I'm winging this I don't actually know what's happening next I think though is coordinating with the judges right now at the same time actually on three I want everyone shout out their favorite costume from this afternoon so on three shout it one two three I didn't get any of that judges are busy tallying scores and coming up with their decisions and who will make it to the finals tonight who is who is your personal favorite you know the thing is your first personal favorite was based on the fact that they were a mooshroom and that happens to be my favorite mom AHA so I'm very partial to the mushroom I'm think my favorites were probably I has cup great skin and I think the silver fish just for the army crawl okay that was super cool that was dedication for dedication the silver fish yeah absolutely we are we ready judges how are we doing judges it's a really hard to decide because there are so many great costumes I love that so many people got into character they didn't just wear their costume but they came out with a whole like routine crawling if you're a cat and doing the silver fish across the stage it was amazing I love the costumes with moving parts like that working lever the like the moving wings yeah and there's a lot of intricacies and it was really cool to see some of the involvement with like the YouTube community and stuff too cool Steph what were some things you didn't expect to see that you did see probably the sound effects on the iPod with the bat I always like when costumes taken a mom from the game and then reinterpret it because that's so fun like the girl with all the TNT stuff as a creeper like that's I think that's so cool also that mushroom dress though I want that where do we order the mushroom dress well now there's a business it's gotta get in there before jinx exactly sorry one least a miscommunication here okay we've come to a decision on how we're going to announce the finalists for the costume contest and that decisions that we are not going to do that oh okay we're not going to announce the finalists and they will be a surprise for tonight okay so everybody's gonna make sure they turn up well nope nope so everyone who came up here hang out for ten minutes we're gonna come and talk to you guys and we will let you know who the finalists are for tonight but for you you're gonna have to wait till tonight to see boys at ease it is a bit oh they're getting rowdy but thank you guys thank you very much and let's have a great big round of applause for our contestants they put a lot of work into it and it showed so what what's on tonight should they be coming back to find out the winners yes so doors will open here at seven o'clock tonight and
