welcome to Mimi's kitchen well y'all last week we were on the coast and of course you saw that because when you saw my video last Monday we did crab dip and I had some helpers if you'll remember well while we were down there um it was time for my family reunion on my daddy's side of the family now my daddy was one of 10 children and so all of them now have passed away all of his generation so we are in my generation my children and their children so we had a big crowd and we had a really good time and listen when you go to a southern well any kind of family reunion as far as that's concerned you know what the end result is is food food food and we sure had a lot of it and it surely was good today we are going to make a peach cobbler peaches to end right now so it's a good time to use them we have a place here called callahama Orchards and they are out in the country somewhere but they come to town and they set up a tent and sell their peaches here so this morning I went by and I got some peaches and I told her I said now listen I've got to cook these peaches tonight so they have a basket a I mean a pan there that has the ones that's kind of a little more right than the others so she helped me and we picked through it so we would get some that would be good to eat tonight so these um are my Peaches I have already peeled these and got got them ready because you certainly don't need to watch me peel peaches and cut them up you know how to do that and this is six peaches so first thing we're going to do now is we are going to and y'all pay attention now because I got this question a lot we're going to preheat our oven 350 degrees but that's the universal bacon temperature All Right Now the recipe for this is on page 98. in um Sunday lunch and Mimi's and we call a peach cobbler cup a cup of Cuppa that's because it's a cup of everything a cup of cup of Cuppa now the the way that you'll figure your measurements is according to the size of cobbler that you're cooking you can make this as small as you want to or as big as you want to and you just kind of figure your proportions according to how how much fruit you're using So today we're using fresh fruit now the recipe tells you how to make it with canned fruit so during the winter when you don't have the fresh fruit you can still have peach cobbler and so um so today the first thing we're going to do now since we're using fresh peaches y'all this is about the size of the peach that I used and I use six of these peaches oh that looks good that is perfect you at least want to cover the bottom of your cap and this is a 9x13 casserole dish okay now since we are using fresh fruit we're going to put some sugar on it and of course a stick of butter so let's get our sugar out here and my scooper here that's about a half a cup so this is six peaches so let's see here see most of you canned fruit would already be sweetened and so you wouldn't need to put this and then you need to taste your peaches too because some peaches can be kind of tart and you want to be sure that all your peaches are sweet I've already tasted these peaches but okay now we are going to melt our stick of butter okay y'all I'm gonna stick this in the microwave and I told y'all I have a new microwave so I'm still kind of getting used to it so I'm gonna start on 30 seconds and see if that melts that stick of butter and if it does then we're going to pour it over this fresh fruit and get that part ready all right y'all 30 seconds did it so we're going to pour this over our peaches oh y'all you know that's gonna taste good oh yeah anything with sugar butter and fresh peaches you know it's gonna taste good okay now y'all this recipe is so easy now I'm gonna do two cups because I did six peaches now if I had done about half of these a smaller one I would have done like one cup of each so here we go all right a cup two cups of sugar two cups of self-risin flour all right let's let's mix those together and let them get acquainted really good here two cups of milk and I use whole milk now you can use two percent if you like I just like to cook with whole milk it to me it just has a better flavor and has a richer texture so just whatever you like okay pour this I'll mixture here KK reminded me to stir with The Wooden Spoon I know some of you have a sensitive ears and kind of breaks on your nerves when I use that fork so spoon sheep I'm just so used to doing that because you know when I cook usually I'm in here by myself in it it doesn't bother me so I guess it's one of them okay now the salt soap cause for a stick of butter now since I've put a stick of butter in there I'm gonna use just one stick in this so let's get this 30 seconds all right let's see I got to stir this and more because we got some lumps in here so okay here goes that stick of butter in there stir that up good I had to go to my crispy all it has some lumps in there that I couldn't get out with the spoon so and at this point if you have to you can actually use your electric mixer if you've got lumps in there that you can't get out okay now you just pour this over the peaches now you do not Stir It so just I like to put a lot of this I guess you'd call this a cobbler part in here because we like a lot of the crusty kind of cakey part it really is our favorite part so I usually okay oh and y'all is that easy or what are you girls that don't cook with crust and all that stuff you know you can make this you can take it like to the family reunion and impress everybody all right now we go get this ready to go in the oven all right I'm just cutting my light on okay all right I'm gonna set my timer on 40 minutes it says to cook it 40 to 50 minutes so what we'll do is we will check it after 40 minutes and I will show you how to tell whether or not it's done yo when I went to the family reunion that's a wonderful place to get recipes and if you're reading my cookbook you'll see that that is exactly how one of those recipes came about I had tasted one of the dishes and y'all it was so good and it was in a nice casserole dish so I knew that person was going to be coming back to clean it and I had asked around nobody knew who made it I thought well I'll just find out I'm gonna stand here until they come claim this dish so I did and when they came to clean the dish I got the recipe so that's a good way when you go to an event and you taste something that you like find out who made it get the recipe and then make it for your family that's a good way to to spread the love so we'll be right back okay y'all our 40 minutes is up so what we're gonna do we're check this out and I can almost tell you right now it's not done see how that is just still runny that's almost like what we put in there so I'm gonna stick it back in there and I'll set the timer on 10 minutes and then we'll check it after we'll check it after 10 minutes y'all 10 minutes is up so let's check it now and see oh yeah now y'all see how that is see you've got like that bread like on the top of it and see your peaches down in there oh all right KK it smells good doesn't it yes okay y'all almost sit it right up there y'all we gonna have to let this cool for a few minutes we can't burn our tongue on this thing because I'm going to tell you if we try to taste test it right now we'll both have a burnt tone so we're just gonna let it sit here for about 10 minutes and then we'll come back we'll dish some up with some ice cream and let you see what it looks like so we'll be right back okay y'all y'all look at my pretty spoon that pretty all right so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna get us a corner of this here just lift that up I'll tell you I'm gonna turn it over so well see the peaches y'all look that kind of looks like dumplings see that's the part that's so good and that's why you want to put extra in there so and this 9x13 dish I did um I double the cup a cup a cup of recipe and uh that was two cups of flour two cups of sugar two cups of milk and then the stick of butter because I had already put a stick of butter on the peaches since they were fresh peaches so we're getting ready to taste this so we're gonna taste it and then we'll let you know what it's like so all right KKK okay y'all see I like the part that's kind of like the dumplings that's my favorite part so oh that's good KK tested it too and it passed our taste test and what she likes is the edges around that because those are kind of crispy so they really taste really good you can't beat this one I'm gonna tell you you just cannot so you'll be the the head of your family fix this and you saw how easy it was so it didn't take much I want to thank y'all for watching just thank y'all for the brightness that you bring to my life and I just enjoy cooking and I enjoy sharing with you have a good rest of the week and I hope everybody remembers Shine for Jesus
