[Music] one of the best ways to get the most out of a game like Baldur's Gate 3 is through role playing an odd statement considering it is a role-playing game but all too often we fall into the Trap of just playing ourselves or worse yet meta gaming when in reality the best way to envelop yourself in the story and world is to Don a Persona of a fully realized character to play the game from their point of view and in doing so you will experience a story that you would have otherwise missed one full of twists and turns plus this adds a ton of replay value to the game itself as every new character will take on this adventure differently the key is having a character who almost plays themselves and one written well enough will do just that but of course such a feat can be hard where does one begin well that is where the color AI comes into play a system from Magic to Gathering that is used to define the personality of a character through a combination of colors and no tool is better for role playing and designing a character than this you see from just looking to the colors of a character you can instantly understand much about who they are it is a way of defining a character that can almost play themselves as each question can be answered by looking to their colors if you're interested in this concept then join me as I break down how to utilize the color pie to create the best characters you can to tell the most engaging stories there are for balder's gate 3. step one of the character creation process involves deciding on the colors that will Define your character I suggest using a two color combination though experienced players familiar with the color Pi can opt for three colors if they prefer this choice of colors serves as a foundation for your character's identity personality and motivations to determine the colors players have two options the roll method or the static selection method in the roll method if you decide on let's say two colors you roll a 2d6 this gives you a number between one and six each corresponding to one of the colors on the color pie white is then represented by one and the colors proceeding clockwise from there with a 6 being a re-roll this method adds an element of chance and Randomness to the character creation process leading to interesting and unexpected acted combinations on the other hand the static method allows you to directly choose the colors you want to base your character on without relying on dice rolls this method provides more control over the character's identity and allows players to create specific character archetypes that align with their Vision once the colors are decided The Core Essence of the character begins to take shape as each color combination represents specific traits and characteristics for example a red blue character would embody curiosity embracing chaotic magic and showing a love for pushing boundaries a white black character on the other hand is portrayed as having a balanced moral compass and being willing to employ any means necessary to protect the vulnerable now that you have your colors chosen this brings us to the next step of the character creation process where the focus shifts to honing in on the character's personality and backstory building up the foundation laid by The Chosen colors you see by aligning the character's traits with the color combination you begin to set the stage for creating a unique and engaging character that will shape your experience throughout the game in this step of character creation the focus is on delving deep into the character's personality and backstory this critical phase requires careful consideration and creativity as it lays the groundwork for a rich multi-dimensional
