Mario, but he can only jump 1 block high! (Super Mario Bros. Rom Hack)

i feel like we've finally mastered this game like there's no way we'll die again i feel like i've finally gotten used to the physics of jumping really really small [Laughter] what's so closer to damashi the mushroom why can't i jump it up [Music] hey everyone it's darby from blue television games today i'll be checking out normal mario bros but it's actually not normal mario brothers at all because mario can now only jump one block high but the levels have supposedly been modified to where this makes it easier but this goomba seems way scarier all right so the goombas are scarier when you can only jump one block high but ah there we go yep i want that give me the mushroom i can't get it get it dang it so as you can see here the pipes have been lowered so that we can actually progress through the level so some parts of the level have been made easier i guess you could say let's see what happens in the bonus room it gives us stairs but from what i've read i believe some of the levels have been made harder in design as well to keep the game from being too easy and i believe also now ten coins will give us a one up instead of a hundred since you can't collect most the coins because we can't jump very high this feels so weird all right top the flagpole here we come [Music] nope sweet sweet baby 100 nice job mario this might be called normal brothers but it should really be called mario but you can only jump one block high all right world one two how hard could it be all right two goombas easy for mario all right get a little momentum boom i really want that mushroom okay now this isn't fair this isn't fair why would you chain i can't even get up two block gap there's not gaps here normally so he's making the levels a little bit harder dang it we're gonna run out of lives all right we can do this so just like there we go yep yep easy easy peasy short mario schnezzy can i get one coin out of this block oh i can get a oh i can get a bunch of coins all right i could have got way more if i would have been ready for that all right [Music] oh geez well they're so much scarier when you can barely jump over their heads i never thought goombas could be scary i landed right between him nice got her extra life back whoa whoa whoa slow down i'm gonna really try to chase this this time okay that's about as far as we can go all right big jump yes okay big old jump okay oh no it's a triple [Music] okay you're scaring me goombas are scary now all right coinage beautiful to the old piper room why does this jump look so scary yeah okay all right staircases no big deal for low jumping mario oh geez that was a little too close for comfort let's keep our moment oh come on it's so hard to get used to get some coins why didn't i think of that last time we need to get those coins so we can get one up so that we can uh live and maybe beat this romhack okay easy peasy are you sneeze that was really too close for comfort wee okay there's no way we can make it to the warp zone no i think the warp sins were taken out anyways i believe the game has been shortened to just three worlds maybe three or four this was made by leon or not and i believe took out world four because the spineys are pretty tricky to jump over when you can only jump one block high [Music] i'm curious to see the rearrangement of this particular level getting some coinage i'm starting to get used to it where i need to be in order to oh my gosh did we get up oh we thought we won't reach that yes we got a mushroom yes it's our first mushroom oh it feels even weirder to jump low when you uh this is so weird it feels weird to not jump high when you're super mario [Music] oh yeah but we can collect coins a little easier than uh we could have this level has given us a bunch of lives oh my gosh thanks for the lift [Music] oh wait a minute okay so i have to make it okay i get it there we go sweet sweet baby 100 we can't get the top the flagpole all right our first castle level wish me some luke and by luke i mean luck but i just said luke for some reason here we go over the fire with ease no time for power ups speed run low jumping mario speed run no no no no no i forgot about the fire bars all right so yeah normally you can run right through here and you can easily jump this fire bar but i wasn't thinking about my low jump height oh my gosh this could be tricky quick oh my gosh quicker than that dagger this is tough there we go just run right through easy peasy mario schneezy right under bowser and we're done can't jump over bowser anymore ooh that makes it trickier all right jump again don't don't do a low one don't do a low one bowser my dude don't do a low one all right we just need to get some guts and go right under them like that it's hard to get on the axe even [Laughter] this is amazing what's up dude thank you mario my princess is in another castle [Music] never saw it coming can't reach that over the goomba i love rom hacks like this that just completely change how you play the game i'm starting to learn starting to learn sucks how much good stuff you miss oh no oh it didn't come back good this one will come back star up there i can't get no way i can get up to the vine oh my gosh three goombas this day and age you know what you lead the way goombas i'll follow you because i lost my ability to jump high yep right into that pitch should be safe sorry about your luck oh geez [Music] can you imagine doing world 8 like this it's the stair steps short jumping mario needs all the help he can get a couple extra lives would be nice [Music] okay we got this maybe probably do not kill me if they keep walking off the ledges this should be pretty easy overall oh i didn't jump in time i tried to jump last minute we're just gonna make this jump yeah that was easy oh no that's a little scarier than normal [Music] like that has to like climb up on something to get enough height okay oh geez this completely changes how you play the game it's so cool even with the modified uh hearts oh never get more than 100. [Music] okay mario water level i mean water is gonna play just like normal so that's nice i think i can't really tell if swimming feels any different i don't think so easy peasy easiest level oh we got to get all the coins we can try to get some one-ups so we can survive to the end of this hack hopefully be a huge bummer if we died and didn't finish the rom hack but that makes the water level fun because it almost feels like a bonus level oh that was some bad swimming but we got it let's let them go by i'm playing it safe play it safe mario don't suck me down so many cheap cheaps a little time okay into the old piper room i'm feeling pretty good about this now [Music] oh i actually landed straight on the fly pole that's an improvement i will take it oh no cheap jeeps with low jumps just run okay just keep on running oh that's a big jump for little mario all right in order to make this jump we're gonna have to jump last second maybe not quite last second yeah just a block before oh geez just gonna keep going everything's working out just fine the low jump height actually makes this level a little easier because you're just low enough jumping that the cheap sheeps never hit you that was actually really easy ah we missed it okay second castle i think there's only three worlds we're getting through here pretty quick this is cool all right world two four i feel like i got this game down easy peasy mario sneezy fire bars are scarier than they once were all these things okay these things should be no big deal for low jumping mario we could get some more all right can i not okay that's two blocks i can't get up there okay don't throw a fireball on my face i knew it i almost jumped too ooh these are more important than ever you cannot jump over bowser fire little mario let's let one more all right let's see what he does here [Music] yes eat that bowser what's up toad let me guess thank you okay toad whatever you say i bet we're getting close though can't hit okay now this makes this a little scarier than usual not too bad for low jumping mario overall he just has to be a little more patient than some mario's it's a mostly flat level so this level probably wasn't altered hardly at all oh geez okay yep coins coins coins i like 10 coins for a one up i think that was a good move overall i wouldn't say oh geez i probably wouldn't say this hacks too too hard though i've been having fun with it it hasn't been uh you know impossibly hard it's been [Music] i want all the coins i can possibly get oh no i think i can make this though like that okay i thought a mistake was made ooh so close to the mushy give me the mushroom why can't i jump high enough ooh coins is it worth getting i'm not gonna get that other one oh oh all right we got this gotta jump quick oh no okay good i think i can make this yes okay everything's totally fine bunk my head a little it's fine nothing wrong with bunk in your head as long as you stay alive that's my motto oh yes yes okay you gonna come down low enough okay oh no okay that's fine it's totally fine we'll take that sweet sweet baby 100. all right i think this might be the final level we'll find out oh three four eh here we go [Music] don't even think about it can't reach those oh geez only be able to jump up one block is pretty cool nice twist this is a cool rom act such a small modification oh no see what i'm dealing with here probably just overthinking this so we'll go now yeah that wasn't so hard you just gotta go [Music] but make it a basic jump now that's hard all right so we only have three lives left but i think we got this most of these aren't too hard those line up really nice this one's a little different i'll be ready for it there we go quickly oh come on not again oh two lives left [Music] i need a little momentum here there we go oh no no no no oh we only got one life left dang it all right we got this probably oh no bowser fire oh geez we can't make it over it though we got plenty of momentum to make these jumps and make it over the bouncer fire oh gee oh geez oh it's our last life we really can't afford to lose here you gotta throw hammers no hammers good what are you gonna do
