hey guys today I'll be showing you Advanced tricks and secrets in the original Super Mario Trilogy on NES let's start out with the original Super Mario Brothers check this out so how does this work well there's a small overlap from the bottom and top of the screen when a Sprite falls off the bottom it's not erased until every pixel falls off the screen due to a bug in the game this causes a brief moment where the Sprite is partially rendered at the top of the screen did you know it's possible to die twice in this game it's a very strange but interesting glitch you can do if you're able to get a hammer brother to hit you twice before you respawn to do this after you get killed by a hammer pause and unpause the game repeatedly about three or four times this causes a delay in respawning Mario and allows the hammer Brothers to throw a couple more hammers at you very productive check this out that's a Goomba right nope it's a Koopa is an interesting glitch you can use to transform enemies into Turtles you need to find a spot with enemies walking on top of the blocks and then scroll the screen to where there is at least three consecutive blocks on the left side of the screen hit them underneath to turn them into Turtles no tricks here these are real Koopas on any of the Bowser stages if you time it out to where you touch both the ax and Bowser simultaneously you can actually die and beat the stage at the same time you don't actually lose a life so you'll pass the stage no matter what this even works on the final stage where you rescue Peach in World 6-3 about halfway through the stage right after the two scale lifts you'll run across this mushroom platform strange things happen here if you jump on a Bullet Bill while it's traveling over this platform it'll freeze in the air slowly moving downwards leaving a trail of what appears to be a scale lift string behind it now that's weird did you know if you wait long enough the hammer Brothers will come at you the way this works is that they have an internal timer so after about 100 seconds in game time or 50 seconds real time they'll start moving towards you after you get hit by an enemy you'll have a brief moment where you'll be flashing and everyone knows that this means you're Invincible but did you know if you step inside of an enemy while you're flashing when it wears off you still won't get hurt so if you've ever wanted to hang out with a Goomba here's your chance here's an interesting bug that slipped by the original Super Mario Developers what I'll explain in Bowser's Castle right after the flying cheap cheap area you'll have to swim through a water area at the beginning of this area you'll enter through a pipe and there's actually a piranha plant that spawns in this pipe behind the water unfortunately since it wasn't supposed to be there it was overlooked you know you're getting far in Super Mario when Bowser busts out the Hammers but did you know they're not as difficult as they seem you see the only hammers you need to worry about are those which Bowser throws to his left if you get on his right side while he's throwing them they will fly right but fortunately for Mario these hammers have no hitboxes a quick way to get to the top of the screen is by using a little glitch people call Brick climbing in order to Brick climb you've got to leave a little gap between the left side of the screen and a wall position yourself at the left side of the screen and you'll be able to jump up the wall be careful where you climb though or you might end up in a bad situation usually when you fight Bowser the typical strategy is to try to get past him and hit the ax to cut the bridge and finish him off but a nice Easter egg included by Nintendo happens when you finish him off using Fireballs that's a fake Bowser in the wrong Castle when Bowser is defeated with Fireballs he transforms into a completely different Enemy At first players thought this was a glitch however later on someone discovered a data table in the game's ROM specifically meant for choosing Bowser's graphic when he's defeated by Fireballs meaning this was an intentional Easter egg have you ever hit one of those invisible one-ups and wondered why sometimes they were there and sometimes they weren't well it turns out there's a trick to it in order for it to show up you have to either warp to the stage or alternatively collect all the coins on the third stage of the previous world and finish the stage without dying so if I wanted to collect the one up on world 4 1 I'd either have to warp there or I'd have to collect every Coin on world 3-3 the first stage of every world has an invisible one up so make sure to collect those coins now let's check out the secrets of Super Mario 2. in any climbing area of the game if you hold both up and down at the same time you'll climb at super speed this wasn't possible to do using the original NES controller as the d-pad was designed to rock back and forth allowing you to only push either up or down at one time usually emulators disable both directions at once for this very reason but sometimes have an option to allow it however later Super Mario 2 re-releases allowed you to use the d-pad and the analog stick at the same time making this trick possible without modded Hardware in certain areas with ropes and ladders if you're able to find a mushroom block you can actually throw it into the scenery the game does try to prevent you from doing this but if you rock the d-pad a bit and throw it at just the right angle you'll confuse the game and it'll allow you to drop it in the block will turn a strange color and if you try to remove it it'll erase the part of the Rope or ladder you threw it on here's a fun trick you can do on stage one two first head to the second pipe and go down inside and grab phanto's key now make your way back out to the ninjis make sure you're holding the key and Crouch jump off a ninji at the height of their jump so you can bypass the locked door while still holding the key now take the key all the way to the right and through the door this key is the only thing you can bring through the door and it has some interesting effects on Birdo you can use it as a weapon to throw at Birdo or even use it as a shield against her eggs and if you place it in her path she'll take herself out with her own eggs here's an interesting trick to make enemies completely bug out if you grab an enemy and throw it at the wall there'll be a brief moment where the enemy bounces upside down now if you throw another enemy and time it just right to where both enemies Collide while being upside down they'll float Up and Away get back did you know that potions can be deadly in Super Mario 2 well it's not quite as you think there's not too many opportunities to do this but if you throw a potion off the top of the screen and go through it when you come out the door you'll be transported to the bottom of the screen and lose a life here's a fun trick you can do on world five three not far into the stage you'll run across an area with breakable barriers get the bombs to break through the barriers and go down the ladder on your right you'll see a vase that's plugged up with a mushroom when you grab the mushroom the bombs will start coming out of the vase if one blows up too close to the base it'll destroy it now place the mushroom down right where the vase was and move to the left when you come back you'll now see the bomb spawning from the mushroom nice there's a cheat code where if you pause the game and press up b and a on the second controller you will instantly lose a life if you do this cheat code while traveling in a rocket it has some strange effects first you'll notice that all of your health is gone and for some reason you're able to play without any health if you collect a heart it will fill your health meter but you'll still be small fortunately if you do get enough Hearts you're able to fully recover from this Super Mario 3 had some amazing using secrets and glitches let's check them out do you know that while jumping is a thing in Super Mario 3 it's not an official move and is very difficult to pull off but it is possible if you're sprinting and hit a wall there is a frame or two where Mario will briefly clip into the wall if you jump at the moment this happens Mario is able to wall jump played Super Mario 3 and when getting a one-up you heard this crazy sound chances are you haven't if not intentionally trying to do this trick the way to trigger this extended one-up theme is to swing raccoon Mario's tale at the very moment you pick up a one-up mushroom I would highly recommend a turbo controller for this trick as you have to swing your tail at exactly 1 12 of a second after you click the one up here's a fun trick you can do with Goomba's shoe enter World 5 3 with a raccoon tail at the beginning of the stage you'll see a spiny walking around hit him with your tail and grab him now quickly run to the left and grab the Goomba's shoe if you're able to get the shoe while holding the spiny shell the game will glitch and Mario starts hopping around wearing some crazy pants there are some areas in the game where you can clip through Walls by sprinting and Crouch jumping while aiming for the very Corner this trick allows you to skip major sections of stages my favorite area to do this is that the first Fortress of the the game you can clip through this wall allowing you to skip most of the stage going straight to boom boom world 7-1 is another great stage to do this at the very beginning of the stage it wants you to go into a door instead you can clip through this wall which allows you to beat the entire stage in seconds Bowser's Castle has a couple of spots you can clip through the wall the first is that the hidden one-up area when you first encounter the Roto discs after collecting the one up you can clip through this wall quickly getting to the top of the difficult lava pit area the second area is right after your second encounter with the Bowser statues right after the statues fill your power meter and fly full speed to these donut lifts quickly stopping to crouch so you can squeeze into the crevice above the Bowser statue you'll clip through the wall sending you to the alternative path to take on Bowser remember how cool that was when you got a star and Mario would flip all over like a ninja well here's a fun glitch you can do with the ninja flips activate a star in your inventory and head into World 610 Sprint through the level as fast as you can until you get to the big wall right there you'll see an ice block grab it and hit the block on top of it to spawn this Vine now jump and grab the vine when your star wears off you'll still be flipping an easier place to do this is in World 3 8. you need to start the stage with both a raccoon suit and a star now run up to the first block you see and hit it with your tail grab the vine and you'll be flipping all day do you remember the enemy called Buster Beetle you know the guy who grabs ice blocks and throws them at you if you grab an ice block at the very same time as Buster does you will both end up getting one it's almost like a magic trick Presto this one requires some incredible timing but hey it's always good to share here's a fun trick you can do to send boom boom to the Moon you'll want to battle one of the later boom booms who can fly first hit him once to make him real mad then once he starts flying head to the very top of the screen after a few seconds boom boom will lunge at you and if you're above him he'll fly up off the top of the screen now sometimes he'll come back for you but other times he's straight up God bye bye boom boom the pipes in Super Mario 3 are kind of broken by Crouch jumping at the corner of the pipe you can hit it just right to where you'll go down the pipe in a very untraditional way now some pipes act like normal but sometimes Mario will get stuck in the pipe and vanish forever you can move the camera around but unfortunately Mario never returns [Music] world three nine you'll run across this white platform first go a little to the right and break down this wall now back on the white platform hold down for a couple of seconds and you'll fall behind the scenery quickly run to the right and go down the pipe and you'll end up behind the water this is cool because enemies can't hurt you while you're behind here it's a very easy way to get past the stage there is a very strange glitch on World 3-9 at the beginning of the stage you'll run across this brick area with a paragoomba jumping around now there's a hidden mushroom here that after you release it if you hit it from underneath you'll take out the paragoomba how weird is that it's like it just faints in World 5 7 you start off in the clouds but you'll find an area where you go down to the ground through a pipe at the end of the ground area you'll run across a white platform the kind you can duck on and fall behind the scenery as soon as this happens make your way up the blocks and through the pipe at the Top If You're quick enough you'll wind up behind the scenery in the sky or sort of the clouds are behind you but the sky is in front of you seems kind of backwards it never wears off and you can't be harmed by any of the bad guys anymore making this a very peculiar glitch did you know that Super Mario 3 has a debug mode the developers tried to strip it out of the game so you'll need to use the game genie code triple k z s p i u to enable it this start with every item in the game and at the title screen you can pick which world you want to start on you can also hit a to keep adding five extra lives to your game and even hit a b and down on the second controller to warp directly to the princess but the most interesting part of debug mode is that you can hit select at any time to cycle through Mario's power-ups what's more is that you can hit a b and select to instantly acquire the Goomba shoe though some stages it's not meant to be there so it does look a little wacky if you enjoyed this video please leave a like on it it really helps out my channel if you want another video that's every bit as interesting as this one you'll definitely want to check
