this shot is made by AI well at least most of it everything around this Frame is made easily with a new Photoshop feature let me show you how you can do it and how you can actually make it look like a video with some easy tricks [Music] you guys have probably seen people using Photoshop to expand their frame they use generate fill in Photoshop to add things like on this side up here to this side and down here and sometimes it can be really impressive actually so but how can you use this for purpose for storytelling in your short films let's look at it today in our edit editing software and see how you also can use it more organically and make it feel like the part of the shots the video to do this AI extension you have to have the better version of Photoshop if you have the Creative Cloud account you simply open up the Creative Cloud app and then click here to download the beta version then in your editing software you grab the still from your video insert it into Photoshop and use generate fill to make the AI create visuals that match your still and when you're done bring that new image into your editing software scale it down to fit your new image and then mask out the edges I will show you this in a more detailed way a little bit later in this video but first since we are using Photoshop it creates still images and you might think that it's a little bit difficult to use still images for your videos and make it feel credible well you can actually do quite a lot with the images to make it more alive the audience watching your video or film they don't know how you made the film they just assume that it's a video like when we made a film called the camera back in 2016 I needed a wide angle for one of the scenes we had which was supposed to be in moodleman's in Russia I had visited mermanski earlier and shot quite a lot of video with my Canon 5D Mark II and the magic lantern hack if you remember that's another one as for the film I needed a night shot of the city and I didn't have any ultrawide of the city during night just daytime and the shot was quite shaky so I just grabbed a still from that shot and put it into Photoshop adjusted the light so it looked like nights and then in After Effects I added moving lights with adjustment layers and some brightness and also added a little bit of video from Hardware shots and placed it in the background so when I edited this together it looked like this and I did this for another scene as well where I only had a still image of this room and I wanted it to look alive so I had to find something that was moving so I just found a lava lamp video on YouTube and I put it in and blended it in with my lava lamp in still shots and then I duplicated the video and I made it a bit transparent and made it bigger and more blurry and added it to the wall so it looked like the light was hitting the wall in a way so you don't need to do much to trick the audience actually okay so back to photoshop AI I wanted to enhance some shots from a project we shot called Cloud Mountain so we shot quite a lot of scenes for this project already and there was a particularly one scene I wanted to enhance using the AI because what we wanted for this scene was to introduce the main character's home and we wanted a quite big library to show that he was had a big house that he had like done a lot of research his wife was like this scientist doing a lot of research so we made actually this library at our office we used some of the furniture we had Aaron helped us out with the set design created a lot of fake books using this paper uh so we managed to create a kind of a medium-sized Library during the pre-production of this scene I looked for a lot of other locations to see if we could find a library that was big and old it was really hard it was really hard it was expensive those they were available was really expensive so we ended up building the whole library at our office so this was the result and it's I'm pretty we're pretty happy with it but of course the idea that the script said it was going to be like a really really big Library so what can we do now what can we do in Photoshop to make it as it was written in the script so let's work on this now so I'm just pressing the color tab here removing the a lot on the color grade we have on it and right click and grab still I'm gonna export it and then open up in Photoshop okay we are in Photoshop the beta version of course we need that I just want to let you know I'm not a Photoshop expert so I might do things here that looks a bit strange okay I'm gonna duplicate the layer and then press canvas size and make it up to 8 K so this is going to expand the frame it's not gonna it's not gonna stretch it but it's gonna create a lot of empty fields let's now start using generate fill okay I'm trying first at this side I just Mark here and press generate fill let's see what he creates okay wow already you can see this is this is this is just crazy what the the Photoshop does is that it matches the lighting and even the perspective like it knows we are filming like in towards this room it's crazy so you get three options to choose from the first time you press generate fill I want to do it one more time just to see if we can get more options I did this I did this three times before I wrote in shelf because you can write in a prompt to make it go into a Direction so I just will shelf so after some uh some different suggestions this was the one I was most happy with so I made a new one to of course we're going to fill out the whole frame just continued generating all the different corners and chose the ones I like the most and the reason why I'm doing it step by step is because as it is now what Photoshop creates within the frame you're choosing is not very high resolution so instead of choosing the whole surrounding and then press generate fill and doing bits by bits so I know I get more resolution and also that I can choose and the right direction for the AI to to go into actually this this is how it looks at the office in the ceiling it's just scary uh yeah it's just crazy and look at the perspective again it's like it's nose to perspective it's just crazy and the lighting and everything and that you got three options to choose from and you can do it over and over again it's just it's just amazing so after only 10 minutes the AI had created quite a lot uh for my image since the final film is going to be on 239 um we can now see the power chords power extension on the floor because it's it's not supposed to be there when we are cropping an image and we see it now so I'm just gonna remove it and this this is also genius you can just select something in the shot and um and press generate fill or you can select them and type remove and then it will remove the object okay let's continue building this room we're sitting down now just gonna do the floor and then okay this is the room crazy okay so what I want to do now is to make it more alive I want to make it feel like it's more of a video and not a still image so I wanted to try and create some depth and create some movement in DaVinci with a perspective so I'm going to try to create uh some foregrounds I'm gonna just select here press generate fill and type in Shelf foregrounds just to see what it creates let's see oh yeah okay okay sometimes it just creates something really strange I don't know why but this is this is the beta version so sometimes you get you get strange things let's try one more time to see if you can create let's do it on this side now okay join Phil let's try bench see what it quits oh that's again the perspective is crazy okay I think this one just look at the reflection from this lamp and down and this one it's just I don't know what to say again this is a library we have a lot of old books and stuff I want to see if you can just put some old books on this uh this bench or table or what we call it I'm just gonna type it all books and see what it creates oh nice see it's blurry it's blurry it understands that this is close to the camera so the book and the table is blurry and again see the lighting like the light hits the book on the edge there wow I just want to do something fun now let's see if we can create a lamp so floor lamp just to see what happens maybe the lamp creates an old floor lamp see if the light creates something around it it only affects what's inside the square you made and actually it doesn't affect anything here now it's just a lamp but let's try to make another foreground old bench with old Maps okay what is this look that's just the old bench old bench and then add some old paper ah stack of books oh nice I like that let's see if we can create some more because we have a lot of practicals here we have a lot of small lamps around the room let's try to add a lamp in this Shelf old table lamp ah look at that I'm gonna quickly make it blurry and also a little bit less bright and then just gonna select here and remove there we go remove those strange things and now this looks fake right because it should be bright around it it's like it should the light should hit the books around it I have a quick trick for you guys I'm just gonna find the layers that are around this lamp then I'm going to go to dodge tool and up here and choose uh yeah a little bit more exposure range go to uh shadows I'm just going to select the books around yeah maybe that's better I want to see if we can create another type of ceiling because this ceiling is typical office or it's not very pretty so let's see if we can create let's try wooden ceiling just to see what it creates creative ideas from the AI hmm another trick oh maybe this one I'm just gonna adjust it a little bit to the brightness and stuff like that the more blended into the rest of the room I don't want to take too much attention from the main character okay so about 30 minutes has passed and I want to try and use this image for the test we're doing first um I'm not going to do something to create this um depth in the shot make it feel like the furniture is more part of the room than just being like a still image so I'm gonna do a little thing here now I'm gonna find the foreground I'm gonna select those layers make a group so I know it's a table front left I'm gonna make it move differently in DaVinci when I add like a slow movement in the shots a select table I'm just gonna merge these layers as well so it's one image I selected it I go to select and then modify feather yeah maybe 20. and duplicate it since the foreground is a bit blurry I also wanted the selection to be a little bit blurry so when I make this a separate layer it doesn't have like these hard edges see that's gonna look strange so I'm using feather to make the edges of this table a little bit soft I'm gonna do the same with the table to the right okay so now we selected both of them made them into their own layers I'm gonna now export first the background without their tables just export it as a JPG and then I make only the front right table visible the rest is invisible I'm going to export it as PNG 24 so all the background is transparent then I do the same with the left table so we're back in DaVinci I'm gonna now insert the new background we are made I'm just gonna drag it down to our shot and now I put the video clip itself above the background image and then make it a little bit transparent because now we're going to match them and then I scale it down to fit the shots yeah something like that nice and then you see that we still have some of the old stuff from the image so I'm just going to use cropping here on the right side and crop out everything that is not AI made there we go when you play back now we can see that he's moving inside this big video library and this is kind of okay it's like it would work I think I think people would get tricked because there's nothing that should should supposed to move around in this Library it could just be static but I wanted to make it even more credible that's why I'm at the foreground as separate layers so I'm going to add those at the top I see now that they look a bit wet they look a bit wet but that's okay this is this is just a quick test okay so I did both of them I'm gonna now make a movement I'm going to select the original video and the new background we made and make a new compound clip and I'm gonna find the exact uh part of the shot I want have the movement let's say we start from here I'm just gonna select use those tables as a reference point so we start here I select the background and make a key Point here at the zoom I'm gonna find out how long we're gonna have this shots and then assuming a little bit so now it will create a little movement in the shots a digital zoom and then I cut this down so it matches this last key point just as a reference I go to the beginning of the table I create a zoom and position key points for one of them I go to the end and then I just look at how much we see in the background one two three seven then we Zoom a little bit more on the table maybe one for 20. let's try that let's now try with the other one as well and let's play back yeah we want it to look like the camera was actually moving on the set that day we shot it let's Now quickly look with the color grade yeah looks quite okay but I wanted to do more before I shot this video before I recorded my screen I actually did a test as well just because it was the first time I I did the AI in Photoshop and as you can see it's a little bit different but still has a lot of the same elements it's the same I created the same the the shelves on the sides with all the books you see the floor is a little bit different and also the ceiling but I like some of this I like the the shelf on the left side so let's try to do something more in this shot and now I want to create a glass ceiling because in the script this guy is Rich so I thought if we have like a glass ceiling we could also introduce where we are like is it in the forest is in the city and at which time of the day this is and this is supposed to be in the middle of the night or early morning so let's select the ceiling and see if we can have a glass ceiling Knight and just go scrub through this oh that's a big moon just glass ceiling Maybe I like this one now let's try to choose the floor I'm gonna make it uh I'm gonna make the glass ceiling more transparent very soon I'm just going to change the floor first yeah I like this one I think we can make it blend in like it can fit I just had to make it a little bit less Sprite just drag everything down and then select the curve to just hit the floor to make it a little bit darker okay and then I'm going to do the same with the glossed ceiling and also going to add some Forest here so stay tuned I see also on the right side here in the shot it's a little bit red I'm just gonna pull that down a bit I'm going to separate the shelf on the left side from the rest of the image because I'm going to move it in a different way just as we did in DaVinci okay we're back in DaVinci we have a new background okay good make a compound clip again for the moments and then we add the shelf on the left side make it a little bit bigger so it's about the other one and then we do the same with the movements first you move the background zoom in a bit with key points then we do the same with the Shelf but if we zoom in a little bit more so because it's in the foreground of course so it's moving moving quicker than the background good okay okay let's make this even more interesting I'm going to add a landscape outside the glass ceiling at our production company we have licensed on something called odd grid so we have access to a lot of stock footage high quality stock footage I'm going to try and see if we can find some trees during nights and you can choose if it's supposed to be on the tripod it should be on the tripod because we when I have full control of the movement our original video was shot on tripod so when one has tripod here as well this looks quite good I the perspective is a little bit off compared to what we have from our original shot but let's see what we can do with this one we're gonna download it in 6K I'm gonna duplicate the background so we have two layers I'm gonna put it up and then add the forest in between then I'm going to search for key and then go into 3D gear put that on the top layer of the background and then adjust this one until I've selected the glass let's see now it's the glass itself is transparent I'm going to scale down the forests and place it approximately where it's going to be as you can see the video is a little bit outside the glass ceiling as well so I'm going to go into the color tab I'm going to select the stock video and use the mask tool around and then go in here press right click and add Alpha outputs and then you see that it has cropped that video yeah first I'm going to make a movements with the force so it matches the movement of our camera it's not going to be a lot of movement because it's even further away from the camera so it has less movement but it still has to have some movement to make it credible yeah some of the trees look a bit strange but let's go for this now just so you understand the process I'm gonna now adjust the key we added the 3D key so it's a less transparent that makes it more credible I hope just it a little bit and also I'm going to pull down the brightness of the stock video the forests so it doesn't stick too much outs yeah and also the mask of our video so it looks better so let's just crop it or crop it down a bit more there we go okay now let's add those tables from the previous shot we made to make it even more alive the shot it's also for the scene we wanted to have a hologram uh it's in the future so that's one of the few things we have in this shot which shows that in the future um I found one on the art grid a hologram effect I'm just gonna use that as a as a reference now for later just gonna adjust it a bit so it fits even more with the original hologram little light we have from small rig here if you have seen the the video where we made this uh this scene you probably saw that we used like this small small rig lamps to create the Hologram let's add some sounds we are using epidemic sound in all our videos I'm gonna find the sound effects there as well you can search for hologram okay and download those every video we upload on YouTube we use music from epidemic sounds so we don't get any problems when we upload if you want to test out the epidemic sound for free yourself there's a 30 days free trial link in the description let's add the sound effects from epidemic sound and the music from epidemic and this is the Fine Results hologram programs activated [Music] [Music] I just use an hour or so on this imagine using more time fine tuning make it more credible I think this can be uh this is the future and the question is only who owns the copyright like who owns this shop now I read that everything that's generated by Ai No One owns because it's not created by a human so in if that's the case this shot I can use it but I don't own the whole shots I only own the middle part so people can copy it except the middle part because that's been shot by us the humans in a way yeah so if you know more about this please comment below I bet we're gonna do this more on this channel so subscribe to stay tuned and if you haven't noticed we have uploaded a new episode of making a film company where we create a big commercial with a small crew check it out by pressing somewhere here in annotation or the link in description and if you haven't seen we made a video production video with nerdforce and William foucher check that out as well by pressing somewhere here and I'll see you again [Music] thank you [Music]
