Magnet Fishing On The Potomac River

today we're gonna do some magnet fishing and the boat ought to be fun we could have just sort of ensure I guess and pitched it out but it's kind of more fun to be in the boat that way too if we get hung up I can get it out easily plus there's a couple spots I want to check one is way down on the river before I forget I need to tell you guys I'm gonna be using a new magnet today I got this giant magnet from a seller on Amazon they actually sent it to me I didn't pay for this but they wanted me to use it and you see I've already used it once Boston MA you know fossum stuff with it but it wasn't really enough to make a video although I may put those clips at the end of this one if we don't do well today anyway it's advertised as the biggest magnet on Amazon and I'll tell ya it's the most powerful magnet I've ever used so if we hit a cannonball here it's coming up no problem at all if we hit a car that magnet might be saying down there cuz it's really strong alright let's get to it alright let's the world that direction and put some extra line a little pitching over I don't think it's a fully what you're supposed to say is it see it's gonna pull us down stream and I will look a giant log man I see we'll get hung up on that thing pretty quick I'm at the wall were on the bank and just tore it they pulled us downstream alright oh yeah I got some rocks and some little things help to slide past the here come on down get just a big old catfish with a go nothing bolt in this belly has to be made out of iron feel a lot of little pieces of iron there's like pieces of fence wire or nails really sure that gloves on I guess [Music] to work in this area and I have my first find it's not much but it's something that's quit I got a nut this is probably something someone used as a weight to fish not a grapevine but don't we try up along this Bank right here just I just turned the camera off if you look right there there's an anchor I wonder if it's uh something we can grab see it right there thought was a dead fish when I first saw it no I floated down bastard out get repossession should be right below us try dragon over top of it it's not easy to do I'm touching it hey I got it we got something that cheatin but I'll take that one that's a nice anchor right there might even use it on your cheek rig look at the Hat sweet I would say I am officially not skunked what do you think well the other end is caught on something so hopefully it's not like a body up there we did just have a guy ground up River a couple miles from us a few days ago just don't mean to laugh but have found drowning victims all right see what we got up here beep it's a tackle box full of gold coins whining you didn't by the way wrapping it around the anchor where he was caught on that shoot I guess it happened all right I have to cut it huh here we go now we just card on that old tree down there that's the end of it no bony fingers Bartles and stuff over there I don't think they're really old but I think we should go take a look at that maybe fill the magnet and see what we catch what do you say that's the sewer outlet by the way yeah oh yeah tons of bottles and plates and bricks yeah look all the pipes - this would be a nightmare for magnet fishing but we might give it a shot just lack of it same thing old miles a lot of bottles in there well I'll try a little fishing here see all kinds of stuff down there Wow all right well we catch what we have we have what appears to be a a don't know a bunch of junk I'm not gonna keep anything I need this junk because the whole river is just full of it look at the oil coming off whatever there must have been an oil filter of some sort might be a cannonball in here well a spark plug not the iron yeah it's not gonna be very good it could be anything under underneath there you know of the weird look in there and some big old irons let's say yeah kind of the kind of iron that you put on the stove and heat you know wood stove and heat up that's an oldie older it looks like hasn't if electric prongs in it though so it could be wrong about that but man I think's heavy Oh maybe somebody wants to keep that to come down and get it alright how's anything good let's go up to the bridge [Music] a little bit closer to these bridge piers float down here we go I think we're going back upriver though because we're it's sucked in behind this low-pressure system right behind this beer we have to get out of that he pulls back out into the current that way boys deeper a year yeah see how it's kind of we're stuck there that's good thing about being in the boat is we can move around if we have to you're letting it down into those uh bridge here soon so let's go ahead and look at it pack up what somewhere else don't worry here I think think that's a license plate there license plate and some other new quickie that's a Maryland farm truck I got a noise that book knife hmm probably not if a buck knife even if they're broken used to be able to send them back and get new ones harvest charade sweet yeah you see there's just tons of junk in here yeah well it's just a little bit more that's an old stove we'll go back out just a little bit further and try to get away from this really really trashy area well I'm a I'm gonna done it now really big she's uh it's a fencepost were you we've got something heavy is that the giant something something I can't get out so what we're doing is we're just kind of like trolling along the bank here see where we come up with like something there well it might be a stick yeah it's a really careful in here is that current get us is going to take us away in it maybe we have to go up a little bit further all right that's a little bit better we're just gonna drop it down here and drag it along see what we come up with it's about four or five feet here I keep the motor running oh sorry about that we have something or not big iron is genuine pig iron a sweet see how it's all melted we'll set that on a boat maybe what I'll do is I'm going to turn it off and I'm trying to just kind of anchor off to the side here it's really no place to stand but let's make a couple tosses here pig iron is pretty cool and that's a good historic item this is from the iron furnaces that were in the area I'm not gonna take it with me I'm gonna give it back but I think that's a cool fire it's good it's worth buying there all right we'll just make a couple tosses out there that's gonna pull us right out when you start doing that though innit yeah season I'm pulling right out there you hook a rock or something so we won't have to do the same thing it's hard to do isn't it I think we'll be better off if I keep the motor running that way I have some control I think we caught something yeah we definitely have something big piece of iron another piece of melted iron iron furnaces that's pretty cool I'll set that on the boat let's try again wait hey ya make cannonballs and stuff in this area so it'll cut you cannonball I guess I'm there well I might have been a rock really surprised at all that iron though huh I shouldn't be I suppose all right I'm gonna go ahead and fire it up and go back upstream a little bit and work our way down it's heavy that's a solid iron rod that's not shaking too much no idea let's put on the boat for now and let's try in this area departments we can't hold our position very well and drag it behind a circle on the bank here see what we come up with Oh well event do you know know what you might see now we just lost the rod oh well nice and deep here he's checking hey I got some stuff let's see punch iron some square nails that's good melted iron from the furnaces let's go up a little bit more oh yeah Oh something big there I shouldn't turn it off but it's a really heavy right here Wow I might tip me over what is it what is it look at that it's an i-beam I don't think I'm gonna be saving that I can't believe that magnet lifted it up open get it off don't have to drop it this is an old trash dump right here you see tons of Bartles in plastic and just junk so I'll have to go I guess get away from this edge a little bit maybe ball in the middle again Oh some good stuff in here though just so much junk let's just float down see what happens then a bomb so long Oh something there got something shakes is that let's say that's an old shovel look it's a really old shovel I swear the handle would have gone in get rid of that some old barbed wire pieces of chunk all right hopefully that's above us now Wow we're moving fast I'll be johnny-on-the-spot with this throttle because if we hook a tree or something man we're gonna go under if we're not careful all right check it maybe we'll come back when his currents not so Swift just check it out yes nothing looks like an old alright there doesn't it no Bartel I'm sure what kind of this just wash your off okay let's see it says a our France seven ounces read the rest Oh some PA so soda bottle that's pretty cool the grass is nice other stuff in there it's uh looks like obsidian but that's actually glass from the iron furnaces in the area some more bricks don't tell him I might be a minie ball in here it's all puddle right there that's glass where was molten and hardened up pieces there that's some other stuff mixed in with it that's pretty cool in it other things mixed in here some iron-on melted ice that's melted from the furnaces home look good iron but yeah they would dump this stuff along the river banks back in the day very slippery today cool that's really neat for eternity mother earth she's got her secrets she's promised to keep hidden and her dirt or deep in her Creek mother earth she ain't sayin exactly what she's saving where is
