so we're at a brand new spot today up and well near Gettysburg Pennsylvania and the place were hunting is I was invited up here by friend named Roman and place were hunting it was a field hospital during the war and the main house is right there and apparently the barn sat right to my left is no longer standing they tore it down I guess in the 70s but they've hunted up here over the years and found quite a few things lots of bullets and I'm really excited because I don't get to look around Gettysburg a lot it's about an hour from where I live and a lot of my detectives more down toward the Antietam battlefield very chilly this morning if you notice how white the field looks out there that's frost and by frost I mean that is frozen like this grass is frozen within this ice so it's kind of chilly but it's supposed to get warm up nice today it's like snow doesn't it that's the house right there it was actually built just before the Civil War but this is a certified field hospital they were here for about a month so it's no telling what we might find let's get to it what do you say I'm going to be using the a-team axe today I have the big loop on it because I really kind of like loop on this we're gonna be using this with of course the wireless headphones and my favorite shovel so I want to dig for a little bit get warm back up and then we'll turn the camera back on okay give me 15 minutes what have you done so far yeah apparently the a-team axes well the MXT does not like the a-team axe they interfere with each other so we have to stay a little bit apart I can't change the frequency somewhat and alleviate a little bit of your distress but not all of it all right doesn't bother me a bit well no that bothers me but I don't hear that his machine like that so I just found my first relic it's melted ledge little tiny piece could be from the Civil War may not be we're gonna find a bullet next all right here you gonna find a plate today yeah I think you only do what you get yeah see here hmm I should recognize that I don't know for sure but I guess that's where I'll screw went through there no recognize that as being military but hey doggie how you doing hey how come easy beeping I'll call it by talking hope he doesn't bite me in the back of the legs those kind of dogs do all right let's get back to digging I'll fill in the hole first do you have a decent signal what you reading little little high for a bullet sometime a little bit yeah you just chuck the bullet right over there to about half way through my machine I'll take a look at that I'm a way back I'm making a lot of hot rocks so good in closer who's not a bottle cap it's a little hot rock I just thought these reeds really low on the machine but they kind of give a halfway decent squeak old tab yeah hi I dug one who's a little bit lower than that but it was a pretty good all right you never know until you dig it all right let's go down we'll take a quick peek at this bullet he dug down here and then I have a signal that not reading great but I think it could be something he just died this bullet right here in this hole this is a 3-ring minie ball from the American Civil War probably dates from the field hospital which had been in 1863 and I have a signal right here I'm not let you listen to it and we're gonna dig it it's not not like the best signal of heard but signals I've heard today and that's seep it well let's take a are you ready he's not really ever jumped up a little bit but it sounds more solid than some of the nails I've dug so let's go ahead and dig that up just to see there's a lot of junk in this area pull tabs and nails and just stuff all tinfoil and stuff so alright they're still there it could be something old yes it's out of the hole so it's probably somewhat junk I thought it sounded a little bit deeper though that's why I was a little bit excited oh okay yeah that's a civil war bullet too now I think the reason why it's didn't sound so great like I said I mean as a lot of junk in this area but the soils also a little funky up here it's definitely not like great soil cuz that bullet sugar ring it really loud and clear is only four inches deep first genuine Civil War relic of the day get you some good light nice you can plant that did you he didn't played it for sure but not too far from loop on his right there and then find some more like yours a twin maybe but I can see yours on the ground over there I think some more so what'd you get odd back oh I see a tree or five sure that's cool you know that could very well be well could be awesome mailbox you know it looks like a dino has that you know it's got that tin look but that back is something that would have been in touch I think to leather I think you know it's got like rivets see the rivets so it could be I mean I've never seen a civil war number quite like that right backs near than well yeah that's that's the swishes if you just showed me the front I'd say a mailbox but that is there could be a horse who knows but something like that yeah definitely say that these whole books devoted to those things so that could be cool civil war relic I think is a five makes them probably but I think you're right I like it's kind of big for you know something want to happen yeah brass huh doesn't you know if it's practice it's plated and silver plating on on something but it's not pop metal I don't believe but yeah with those rivets on the back leads me to believe this cloth or leather so awesome that I was pretty interesting that's gonna be definitely worth researching I'm still digging in the area where I found my bullet was right there and Roman found his right here so I'm just gonna dig around here a little bit and try to get down through some of this junk is law to foil in here unfortunately I'm just down from where I found that bullet and kind of back in the bushes and I have another signal here that suspicious it doesn't sound particularly good on the face of it but if you listen I'm going to show you something and hopefully it's something good not just a nail now I'm running with zero discrimination and iron audio so things sound a little bit different but I did goes deeper in this mode listen to this signal on the center of I guess just right about there every once in a while is jumping up but what has my attention is about bullet size I think we're now go ahead and lift a loop up a little bit and it's about a bullet size feels kind of like a dense feel sacks ounds like a dense object to me so we're gonna go ahead and dig that even though it's not reading very high every once in a while it jumps up but I have my suspicions about that and I think the ground is just really bad up here and we're not hearing a lot of these things which where the VLF machines it can happen you have to go to a pulse machine when you have mineralized ground I'm pretty sure that's what we're dealing with up here see what kind of red it is dug up in this area before and I know that it's not quite like the palm oil but it's uh gonna be bad okay so I definitely have out of the hole let's look at the number now yep see look at that it's getting a little bit of it's getting much rid of squeak now that's probably gonna be a polar I bet you I I don't see it yet but I'm guessing and again under normal circumstances you might not dig a signal like that because you know the meter was reading low it only squeaked every once in a while but with practice with the Machine you can kind of judge the size of an object and I say density I don't know if that's what I'm hearing but it just sounded dense to me like like what is dense than my bullet is dense I don't know if that's what it is Oh hopefully that's what it is god I hope it is especially after all that ok it's right in here we're spread it around yeah look right there's the bullet it's exactly what it was awesome awesome well the fact that it did not you know give us that good signal it was probably only down about 5 inches tells me the grounds not good up here because this machine this 80 max that coil I mean I can hear a bullet down you know 10 you know 12 14 inches no problem at all in good soil so we're gonna have to listen closely to the signals and maybe bring the pulse machine up here I would die in fact they do have the 80 80 80 pulse machine I get them all confused what is that thing 80 80 hey it's a Garrett pulse machine I have it we'd hear that thing down probably a foot and a half with that that big machine we might bring it up here after 1:00 all right nothing tests the patient let's go ahead and take a look at it that's exactly what it is say no there 3-ring minie ball from the American Civil War and this hospital site just outside of Gettysburg Pennsylvania if you guys that don't know about Gettysburg Gettysburg was a huge battle during the American Civil War in 1863 or 50 some thousand American casualties they fought it over three days the Confederates or rebels got trounced and had to retreat back across the mason-dixon line and down into Virginia but yeah great big pivotal battle one of the most pivotal battles of the American Civil War awesome that's where I just dug that bullet and I have another signal here that I'm suspicious about and you can barely hear it but it has that nice dense sound it's reading terrible on the meter like the Machine can't even read it you may not be able to hear it I'm thinking that might be a bullet too though it just sounds kind of big you may be deeper I'm getting the shovel over there I'm fortunate with that one but here's what we're gonna do friend Bill's up here somewhere and he's got an MXT with a great big loop on it I'm gonna go I'm gonna leave that signal and bring him back here so he can listen to with his machine and see if it sounds any better to him because he doesn't think the ground is that bad up here now where I'm ground balanced and I'm hitting about eighty eight with your own balance but there's something about this soil that is hiding things so I'm gonna leave that signal until I find him but I'm not gonna look too hard just yet because I want to look around here some more so what'd you find some bullets first day detecting seems like because I you know I do that too that's a nice one too looks like my have rings fire I saw that it kind of looks oh yeah too round whatever it is yeah it's hard to say certainly far enough dead right fired I guess the heist congratulations awesome he came over to get me yeah that little secrets bar over there we're gonna go hit it I'm a nice guy is that Roman right there so we're gonna get him and maybe walk over that direction and see if we can rustle up one should we go over there hey I usually have to ask pay no attention to his hat and so yeah this ought to be a good spot got three and he's over there digging stuff so I'm excited apparently that's where bill was digging his bullets right there it looks like what is the remains of a stone wall too so the barn is very marshy so that's gonna be a good place to look to anything in there will be kind of deep though what'd you say let's get to it that's the area right over there where bill was finding the bullets I couldn't get too close to him because my machine really interferes with his headed over that way to check it out cuz he split well he's up there now digging must be finding something cuz he stayed in one spot but anyway got a little signal here kind of squeaky I've been digging a lot of foil so I didn't turn the camera on but I have a button I believe it's a 3-piece Civil War button probably New York State seal but I don't know for sure but yeah it is I can tell from here let's take a look at it this is a civil war button from a uniform it's a three piece and I believe it's a new york button well clean it up just a little bit but I got to put my camera down to do that because it's very very fragile yeah it definitely is you send the point with if you look right here this is a shield and there's a eagle standing on top so I know that's the New York State seal button from the Civil War and Bill said he's found a few out here two bullets one button a little bit of melted lead and a bunch of foil but we're gonna stick around this area is just loaded with iron right here so something was going on for sure before I put it away I want to show you something should always carry a container to put buttons and stuff in this is just a little snug container that I found on the river I always pick them up when I'm out and about and you just put a little dirt in there make sure there's nothing hard and you can set your button in there just like that came a little bit more dirt that way he doesn't roll around in there too much and put the lid on and he's nice and safe if you put in your pocket or just throw in your digging bag you just have powder by the end of the day so hopefully we'll still have a button at the end of the time end of the day it's pretty rough though I can tell what I'm going to do is just walk around here just for a minute I cannot leave the headphones off for long do you hear all the iron we listen for little squeaks in between [Music] and I forget a little squeak will dig it that's what that button was just a little tiny squeak I suspect the iron that we're hearing is actually ration or not ration tens of a little square nails they sound very uniform they could come out of like the through had a big campfire here and they were burnin ration boxes have lots of little nails in them that might be what we're hearing don't know for sure but we're gonna look around some more well probably two or three hours of paths it's the last hair on the camera bill took off we were digging down in the front we're fond that New York button he took off so he didn't get to listen to the signal I'm back to where I had that signal on and listened to without MXT so we're gonna go ahead and dig it together I want to let you hear it one more time it is just like that yeah I'm not really I don't have high hopes for it but this is where I dug that bullet I think we're gonna hear somewhere but the other signal yeah there it is right there if you can hear that or not but it's not much of a not much of a signal it's really not reading on the meter let's go ahead and kick it back we'll listen to it again see it's getting better and you know little squeak everyone there we go it squeaking alright let's go ahead and take a shot one will take a little bit off the top and see if it's a boot large that old hole right there so just to this edge of that old hole so it could be another bullet down in there maybe if we're lucky I'll find out here in a minute all right that should maybe hit button it yeah there it is listen she's definitely got a nice squeak now reading 71 or so so I'm guessing that is a bullet you're ready see it yeah I don't see it I suspect that is a bullet though all right let's go ahead and run the loophole one more time it's back in here so I'll just pick pick up by the handful I have my pin pointing with the Jews but this is usually just as fast okay so it's in the hand I don't feel anything I can feel it right there ah there she is it's coming up look at it there it is if you have a handful of door like getting there's a bullet in it if you bounce it you can feel a weight of the bullet but yeah so that was another minie ball that no it's actually not a minie ball technically this is a cleaner bullet this is a Williams cleaner it has three rings like a minie ball but the base is different this would have had a zinc washer on it and a soldier would be issued I think two or four of these per 40 rounds and it's called a cleaner bullet because when they would load it in fire the zinc washer here or that would well the zinc washer here and a little plunger that would go in when it was fired and that make the zinc come out and squish out a little bit and it wouldn't supposedly clean the musket as they were firing it and the soldiers didn't like him very much you can often find us these in a pile that's what this is that was a signal that we heard there so yeah we're gonna listen to those little tiny signals in here I just wish bill had been here to listen to that because I would be curious to see what he could hear okay let's get back at it cookies turkeys [Laughter] those are turkeys by the way those are chickens Roman thinks he might have a bullet so let's go check it out yeah one no no a little jumpy do it who wounded two bullet oh well it was a bullet it's not a civil war 22 caliber bullet is it because they had them oh well maybe the next one will be a gold coin let's get back to it it's time to do the roundup we're not done digging yet but I just this is a good opportunity for me to lay everything out because we're gonna pick their stuff up and start working our way back to the vehicles let me show you what we found today but using the a-team axe today with the wireless headphones that worked out really well for me I like these headphones a lot this is what I ended up with I dug a lot of junk as you can see lots of shredded aluminum cans which in the biz we call this canned slaw kinda like hole saw a few sharpened shows just a lot of junk little beaver tail again that's what you call it that B is pull tabs basically dug some iron because I want to dig some deep stuff this is all for like a modern tractor in fact I could probably use that on mine this is a hot rock or probably coke which is like burn coal well it is burn coal and a few other odds and ends let's look at the goodies pretty safe I ended up with four bullets today I got these two mini balls and this is a Williams cleaner number one there's actually three different styles of these this is the first style would have had a zinc disc right here now I think I already explained to you how that work there's a number two number three the number two bullet is actually smaller than this and it has a flat plunger on it and the number three is actually a lot bigger than this and has a flat plunger got one round ball I'm not sure it looks like it was fired probably and I got a little rivet here this is probably my most interesting find which is little New York button but it's pretty toasty right there not gonna get much more out of it but all in all it was a good day again we're not finished bring it back out into those woods over there although this is probably the most dangerous day of the year in Pennsylvania because it's a Saturday rifle season for deer so not supposed to be anybody out there but I think we're going to scoot that way on the way back so I hope enjoys a little hunt I enjoyed being up here we'll come back up this way again I have a feeling we'll see on the next one
