I think that things like that can help turn some old-school motor-heads on to EVs. They probably won't want to trade in the roaring V-8, but they'll at least develop some respect for the performance of some EVs. Of course it will just piss others off, but you can't make everyone happy. I feel like it might be akin to the introduction and response to crotch-rockets in the US. There was a lot of resistance from traditionalists who would never be caught riding a "rice burner." At least Teslas are 'Made in the USA.'
