well hello there how are you doing today you feel like doing a little bit of diying with me today come on in let's get started [Music] what do I have going on for you for today well it's day two of diy-n with those diyable yeah it's a word I added it to my vocabulary dictionary promising you I'm bringing to you DIYs using those round plaques you can get them at Dollar Tree you can get them at Michael's Hobby Lobby Joanne you can even now find them at Walmart these are such fun plaques to DIY with they're very versatile and today I am bringing to you a new inspiration I'm gonna call it and I hope you like it so I'm gonna quit my Gavin let's jump into it and let's do some DIY and decor DIY in on a budget because why not because we can and that's what we do here who is today's KB Creations crafter of the day you'll want to stick around to the end of the video to see if it's your creation that's being featured in today's video if you're interested in being featured as a crafter of the day in one of my videos submit a picture of one of your Recreations of a DIY that I've done to either Facebook or Instagram if you want to DM it to me you can't then you just simply have to look out for the end of each video to see if it's your DIY that I will be featuring in that given video alrighty jumping on into this diyable round plaque Yep this is a three pack I got this at Hobby Lobby I spent about three or four dollars on it this is a 14 inch plaque you can find smaller versions of this at Dollar Tree I want to say you can get about a 10 inch size wandering on over to the open scrapbooking paper pick these two sheets up to this plaque I'm gonna give it a good nice healthy code of some Mod Podge you can use Mac you can use gloss I personally like the matte finish because I don't like a shine added to my projects once I've got a good coat of this Mod Podge covering the plaque I will then take that scrapbooking paper and that's what I'm gonna use to cover the front of this plaque using mod podge and scrapbooking paper to cover a plaque like this is such a fun alternative to paint because you can add different patterns different textures and I feel like it's just kind of a cool alternative now because this 12 by 12 sheet isn't quite big enough I am gonna have to do a bit of Patchwork but nonetheless it's gonna come out amazing now you know when placing paper or fabric on a plaque or any item using Mod Podge you can get those pesky wrinkles or air bubbles if you take a scraper tool a credit card something with a nice flat Edge and you just kind of lightly run over the top of it really making sure that paper adheres to the Mod Podge it'll really cut down on any of the air bubbles and the wrinkles until I guess that paper really adheres to whatever surface it is that you're applying it to and so you can see here just how I'm running my scraper along it and I will end up with no bubbles and for this project I'm not going to add a second coat over the top because truth be told I'm using a gloss Mod Podge trying to get rid of it and I don't want a gloss finish flipping my plaque on over and and using a straight edge razor using the plaque as a guide I'm going to cut off that excess paper which is going to leave us with a nice clean Edge a nice finish these rocks have been around at Dollar Tree for a while so when you're there pick up a bag of these because look what I'm gonna do with them this may look a little wonky but give it a chance use these rocks to form flowers kind of sifting through the Rocks finding four rocks that are very similar to each other one that kind of is a bit of a darker color to act as the center of a flower I know just come on go with me with this because it's kind of a fun DIY using these rocks and so yeah I wanted to make four flowers here with half the petals kind of showing half of the flowers three of the Rocks there at the bottom are just gonna kind of act as the buds of the flower then I'm gonna take I'm gonna take some thicker jute twine this is a thicker twine or cord that you can get at Walmart it comes in a two pound spool for under five dollars and I tell you it's well worth it because if you're a twine lover like myself you want to have I guess different gauges or different thicknesses of twine and so I went ahead and I hot glued the twine in place under that Center Rock because using that Center Rock it's gonna hide the end of the twine giving it a more finished look and I'm just using hot glue to glue these rocks into place because it's being glued onto the paper so it's gonna add here just fine in stages fine [Music] foreign [Music] you'll see that when I glued the twine down I kind of curved it just to add a bit of personality to it I feel like when you add a touch like that to a DIY like this and just kind of curve the twine instead of gluing it straight down it really gives it a bit of character and again Dimension I would say that this is a pretty versatile DIY using these rocks in their natural color like I am here kind of gives it that earthy uh feel but if you wanted to paint these rocks you very easily could and you're gonna get the same fun look and feel but maybe it would be a fun addition to a kid's room or whatnot I think that this is such a fun DIY it could be something that you get the kids involved with and really create something special keep in mind that the holidays are coming and so sometimes when uh I'm on a budget or fundage is a little tight I like to DIY my way through the holidays and I feel like giving those handmade homemade gifts can be a bit more meaningful than just buying something and so doing a piece like this for somebody that you created is gonna give somebody something special and it's going to have special meaning to them so I say now's a good time to start diying for those special summons for this holiday season foreign [Music] [Music] I felt like this needed a bit more Dimension to it and so to do that I figured I'd add some lines to this giving it that kind of ship lap look I guess and so to do that using a ruler and some distress ink I'm using Tim Holtz distress ink in the color of Walnut stain you can achieve that by just using a paintbrush and that stain along with a ruler running it along the ruler there and you're gonna get a real fun line now we're not looking for Perfection here I I think the more imperfect these lines are the more perfect they are they kind of add to the creation and again the personality once I did the lines I think those look pretty cool as imperfect as they are I decided to finish off the edges with a bit more distressing and shading just because it looked a bit too plain without it and yeah I don't like clean projects I like them to look rustic I like them to look aged I like them to look like I found them somewhere and they have a story to tell and they were put away somewhere and then I found this treasure and here it is that's what distressing means to me or does to a DIY for me and on the bottom there I'm gonna finish this project off with none other than a twine bow for those stems how stinking cute is this I love this piece let's go take a look at it because I wanted this to be a wall decor plaque I just simply glued a piece of twine on the backside acting as a hanger who is today's KB Creations crafter
