DIYed My Home With Dollar Tree $1 Items...Fall Savings!

in today's video I'm sharing with you all new fall Dollar Tree DIYs I have such a cute way to display your food for fall and you may already have some of these items on hand you're going to need two dinner plates and two pumpkins of varying sizes I have these two white pumpkins I'm going to start by pulling off the stems then I'm going to add E6000 to the top of my pumpkins now the plates I'm going to be using are black plates that you can pick up at Dollar Tree and I'll Place one of the plates in the center of my pumpkin and I'll repeat this for my other plate and pumpkin let this dry overnight and then you can display some of your favorite treats for fall [Music] if you have the Dollar Tree plus section at your store they are carrying this decorative item now it looks great on its own but I wanted it to fit in more with my fall color scheme each year I like to pick five colors to go with my fall color scheme and then I try to do most of my DIYs in that color and when you have a fall color scheme for your house it just really helps to give your home a cohesive look whenever you're creating a bunch of DIY projects now to make it affordable what I like to do is take my fall paint colors that I want to use I'll go to Sherwin-Williams and color match them and then just pick up five sample Paints in my fall color scheme one of the paint techniques you can do to make a really thick texture for your paint is to mix sand from Dollar Tree with your paint color this really makes this like gritty texture and the best thing about it is typically when you do this you only need one coat of paint I'm going to use a paintbrush for this project and start by painting the inner portion of my decorative piece once I have that covered I'll move to the outside and then just let this dry overnight and you can style it with your decor if you like the look of the same color decorative vases but don't want to spend a lot of money you can Thrift or buy them from Dollar Tree for our next DIY I had three different vases from the thrift store I'm gonna spray them a matte black color so I'm going to spray the bottom side with one coat and then once that dries I'll flip them over and spray the top with another coat [Music] if you've had a chance to shop at Dollar Tree they have come out with so many new florals this year this is the best time of year to pick them up because this is when they have the widest selection I found these eucalyptus stems and more of the Fall colors and that's what I'm going to be using to put in my vases now if the stems are too long you can cut them down or what I like to do a lot of times is just fold them that way if I need to use them longer later I can so I'm going to put some stems in all three of my vases and then I'll show you how description box or visit betterhelp.com DIY Liz for this next project I want to show you a Pottery Barn dupe that I created now Pottery Barn has several mirrors but they are really expensive when I was at the thrift store I found this mirror and it was only twelve dollars and I felt like it would be a great dupe for a Pottery Barn mirror I'm going to create cross pieces at the top and the side with this wood weaving product that I picked up off of Amazon I'll link it for you down below as well as any other product that I'm showing you in today's video I'll cut down the wood weaving pieces to size and I'll hot glue them onto my mirror thank you [Music] now in the Pottery Barn one that I'm trying to recreate it had the look of wood so I needed to mimic that using paint before I painted the mirror I added tape around the edge as well as some craft paper to protect the mirror so I'm going to start off by spraying the entire mirror with a tan color then I'm going to go in with a textured outdoor paint that is kind of a gritty paint that you would use maybe if you were spraying outdoor furniture another technique that I did to add in a little bit of Dimension and make it look more like wood was I actually added a stain to the paint did you know that you could stain things that are painted it really just helps to make it look more like wood I used a foam brush and sporadically around my mirror I placed stain on and then I removed the excess immediately with a paper towel [Music] after I finished staining I thought the look was perfect and here's how I styled it in my home [Music] if you made it this far in the video thank you so much for watching comment the words of the day fall Dollar Tree did you know that Dollar Tree sells air dry clay in the crafter Square I'll take the whole roll of clay and roll it out till it's about one centimeter in thickness all right I'll use a faux leaf and press it down to create an indention next you're going to use a small knife or in my case I couldn't find the right knife so I ended up using a screwdriver probably not the best tool but I used this to cut around the leaf then you can remove the leaf and pull off any excess I wanted this Leaf to curl up so I added it to a bowl and let it dry overnight I think this would be great in your bathroom as a soap dish or a ring tray [Music] I really love the look of plaid for fall and I wanted to try to recreate that look on canvas I decided to attempt to paint it now Dollar Tree with their Dollar Tree plus section has so many different styles and sizes in canvases for this project I picked up one that was 8 by 10 and 11 by 14 and a 16 by 20 canvas [Music] I'm going to be using three colors from my sample paints and I'm going to be using two different styles of brushes one is going to be a flat brush and the other one's a flat brush but just a little bit smaller one of the things I noticed with plaid is there's different variation in the opacity of the paint so to achieve that I wanted to kind of water down my paint a little bit so I put it out on a container and added in some water I'm going to start with one canvas and I'm going to create horizontal and vertical lines in one color now you want to make sure that you don't mix colors until it has a chance to dry so once I was done with one of the canvases I set it aside and then worked on the other two canvases and just do one color at a time thank you once the colors are dry you can come back in with your second color and it's just going to create a better look you really don't want your colors to kind of smear on top of each other now when you're doing this project you want some of your lines to be thicker and some to be thinner and again you also want to adjust the opacity [Music] foreign I decided to come in with a cream color just to give it a light line effect it's kind of almost hard to see on camera now it's by no means perfect but I feel like I like the look of going to need three of the Dollar Tree ring sizes now these come in I think three different sizes now I got three different packages for this project and I'm simply going to hot glue them around the edges varying the sizes so that I could fill up as much space as possible also when you're doing this project you want to make sure that you reduce any of the hot glue strings before you add it to your piece for the inside I'm going to add in some white sand and a candle I had in my craft room next I'm going to make a succulent pumpkin I've always wanted to create one of these you're going to need a larger pumpkin well you could probably do this with a smaller pumpkin but I used a larger pumpkin and I used a box cutter to cut around a circle at the top of my pumpkin and then I'm going to pull off any excess foam so it's about maybe a half an inch down from the top next I'm going to add in two different colors of moss these are both ones that I had from Dollar Tree then going to hot glue four succulents that I had in my stash from Dollar Tree to make it look a little bit more fall I'm going to add in some Dollar Tree fall florals and then just add in any Moss to kind of finish it off [Music] next time you're at Dollar Tree be on the lookout for this base this is a perfect addition to any of your fall decor one of my favorite new additions to the Dollar Tree decor items is they're giving us candle holders that are variations in height I've been waiting for this for years and these glass ones are gorgeous but you don't have to keep them glass I wanted to spray paint them gold because I feel like that gold look is perfect for the fall so I spray painted the bottom half of these candle holders let that dry and then sprayed the top half I wanted to add on some white pumpkins to the top of these candles but underneath them I added in two of these pretty flowers from some Dollar Tree florals that I found [Music] and then I also hot glued on some eucalyptus leaves
