going through little like canes and cliffs and rocks so far it's handling it though but we got to go very slow to get up there i don't know what to expect the homies are ready this minivan we're here okay and you wanna just get right into it oh yeah oh we can go right into it yeah we're all ready okay all right let's do this boys this is the original general store at cerrogordo it was one in 1873 like i named victor beaudry and at first the front was a general store and the back was a butcher shop and these days it's kind of the things that i find down in the mines i put back here yo this is sick so all this stuff was found here you know you figure everything from these are dynamite boxes because everything all the mining up here is done with dynamite you have those uh not a live dynamite it's a little bit too dangerous but yeah we got boxes we've got old miners pickaxes helmets wow seriously yeah yeah so this is all stuff you found yeah all this stuff that's awesome so those those things are those oh bones human bones or oh those are from the butcher shop out back what are those uh those are ore shoots so they would there would be a mine above them and that ore would come down in there and then get loaded into wagons second they have to figure the thing that is crazy is everything came up and down on mules yeah something they had vehicles back then okay so 20 mule teams pulled up anything that all the big stuff the stoves the ore anything you can do dude yeah check out this i mean this place is literally a museum yeah this back part is specifically the museum right and so like when we bought it this batch is just floor-to-ceiling stuff so imagine it's like furniture all sorts of old stuff and these days it's like anything that i find back in the mines as i'm looking around i put it here so we have like miners just like drop their pocket watches you know it's back in the day yeah dude things like that it's really creative too what you're doing dynamite instructions that is amazing this is probably my favorite place this is like 103 year old jacket that i found on one of the mines and like and reason so stiff is because they used to coat it with beeswax to make it waterproof so if you were to take this out into the sun it would loosen up immediately like a regular jacket wow the crazy thing is like the brand still around so it's this brand black bear and i messaged them on instagram and i was like hey i found a jacket and he was able to give me the pamphlet of the exact year that they sold it you know like to show the original sales document for it and all that dude i love the hustle yeah exactly daddy you're famous on there now like on all over youtube you're the guy who lives alone in a ghost town yeah that's become the thing coin yeah wow what's up what's history on that chinese uh a lot of the population was chinese miners back in the day and so these would be my grand poppy and they from my understanding these coins are older than the town these ones are like 350 years old and they're brought over as good luck so you'd kind of hang them in your little cabin um the way they used to carry these is they had to string in the reason why there's a hole in it is because it would string up the coins together and that was the wall really yeah yeah it's cool i didn't know that yeah i always wonder why there was a hole in there that was just a cool design no i mean it's functional too that's awesome and i found i found a few of these and then one day usually i let people explore the museum by their selves i'm like hey just go look around and somebody stole one of my coins but this is why i want to know people to know if you steal something from a ghost forever whoever stole my coin you're cursed forever he's probably dead or she by now so that sucks this is like where's evil in the village oh yeah yeah brizzy before yeah dude did you just find the shotgun out here i was in this building it wasn't out in the oh it was inside the building yeah oh dude all these i pulled out of 200 feet down in a mine these are a little guideline and they're all left there yeah that's awesome because the mines there's no real and a lot of there's no moisture and there's no elements they still look like they did you know 100 years ago yeah it's like intact it's wild i really like all the chest vintage chest yeah these are as close as i got to finding a pair of pants because the real the real thing you want to find in mines these days is jeans exactly find denim because levi's originally made blue jeans for the california silver miners in 1873 and the original levi's are like the holy grail to denim collectors how much are they worth about like a hundred grand a pair have you found one yet what i found a whole pair we looking though today's the day this is a levi strauss button from back in the day so they're here i know they're here and if you find them the thing is like levi's wants them backed as part of their personal archive and their archive burned down a number of years ago so they don't have any left so they want them so if you can find them and get them to them they uh all right boys we don't want gold we want levi's stuff yeah that's right all levi's [Music] however you think this is going to be and i want to see your reaction how heavy it actually is it is whoa whoa it's silver that's what they are mining silver and light here yeah exactly yo let's drop it in my hands so question yes when does place uh close down for good originally uh about 100 years ago so it started in 1865 and they mined silver and led here till about like 1890 and then everybody packed up and left and then guy came around 1910 and he discovered zinc here so we realized nobody was mining zinc so he came back and brought another 30 years of prosperity and then around the war in like 1940 everybody kind of packed up and left and it's been kind of sitting here ever since and then you came along i came along swiped it right up swiped it made it my home yeah made it my life's work yes that's what i'm doing now it's a great place to socially distance right yeah dude actually i think about it now that when i heard about you was right when covet happened yeah that's my first i first got to march last year that was like when i first started getting him videos right and then been here ever since nice this is the original assay office this is where they tested the quality of the silver coming out of the mountain and so like you would come here they would appraise like how much the silver was going to be worth and then in an interesting geographical setting this is an original brothel that was here no way it's called lola's palace of pleasure it's a woman named lola travis owned them and there should be three of these cribs that were actually got like one and there would be a bed and a bathroom in that and then a bed and a bath and a bed about you can i see here where the wall used to be and so i'm just working on rebuilding it like a month ago none of this was here so i'm trying to rebuild it not as a brothel oh all right all right no worries bro i won't say nothing how much did you buy the ghost town for i was 1.4 but i bought it with uh some investors that helped out in a big loan and so it was kind of my life savings plus a lot of other money just kind of pushed it in to make it uh made it happen nice which is one thing to buy it but then the upkeep and maintenance of something like this is insane so that's the part you don't fully think about yeah now it's kind of a dollar forty cents welcome come on in in the brothel nice okay oh this is so that's the office this is where they tested the quality of silver so these are some of the original bars so if you want to talk about heavy somebody pick up that oh i can't i actually can't we're not worthy i can't pick it up so guys this is the widowmaker and it was steam powered they didn't have uh electricity here until later and i guess he was cranking it like this like in circular motions drilling into the wall and then they would stuff a dynamite in to blow it up no way and i didn't just know that brent told me i'm just saying he knows i'm not that smart how they would test the silver so you could say this is called a crucible so you take the crucible you would melt it down you pour it in something like this you get something like this then you pinch off the end because that's where all the heavy metals would go pinch it off put it in something like this and this is made of bone so you can heat it up as much as you want it's not going to melt you heat it up you use something like this and that's some original cereal go to silver right there oh yes so this is just a test house over right to test the quality of it to see what percentage it is and all that yeah and then you need to figure out how much you're gonna make question is that just like your christmas tree that's the christmas tree you know if you got a tree like that why would you not use it as your christmas tree you know yeah living is probably the biggest living tree that we have here so that's awesome the ornaments will stay staying there uh i have one and only ghost story at cerro gordo and it took place in that building oh that's good i like to walk up to the sunset up there i was walking up one night and then that window until the lace curtains open up somebody looked out and the light was on i think it freaked out at first because originally we had i thought we had contractors up here helping with the property right a year ago so i asked the caretaker in the morning hey how long are the contractors staying here and he kind of waited and he's like no he left two weeks ago oh so i i i'm a rational person i came over here i turned off the light and i pad locked the door and then that next night i went back up to watch the sunset and light was back on and he had to flip it you know so it's like so ever since then whenever i go in there as i walk through the back i just get this overwhelming sense that i shouldn't be in there there's a lot of stories about the back left room that people hear footsteps of the night they put their belongings on the counter and they get moved and so for me what i did is like i renovated it i decided like rip out all the old lace curtains i wanted to like lighten up the energy of the place right it was like one of my big renovation projects i love that accomplishments check out the bunk house welcome to the bunk house [Music] this is fancy wow dude the check out that we're gonna go check out a mine that no one's been to off the property because a lot of people has already filmed this stuff and already seen a lot of the mines that you probably see on youtube so we're trying to do one that no one's done so we're gonna do that after this so let's see how this goes boys [Music] [Applause] [Music] up so where are we right now so we're at this is the reason cerrogodo is cerro gordo this is the hoist house and inside here is the union mine and the union mine is a vertical shaft that goes 900 feet straight down and again do you have to take a cage from 1865 that lowers you slowly down and going down there it's crazy because the shaft over time is suede right so around the 500 foot level the cage gets stuck and chatters get passed that is free falls oh god so it's terrifying but that's a real they pulled something like 500 million dollars worth of minerals out of this hole well that's a lot especially back then this whole building exists to operate this so this cage here this cage is what lowers 900 feet down and to do that you have this cable above you that goes up and then way over and it's going to pull bad spool over there there's a guy back there that lowers you down and it's not like there's buttons right this isn't like an elevator or something you're like oh go to the 200 level he has to look and i'll show you guys a dial and you kind of estimate and the thing is that when you're going down there there's no communications yeah so on this thing this is light signals how many to go up tell me to stop you have to signal up so somebody has to lean over this hole and watch while anybody goes down wow so that's crazy so all that is supported by this is the hoist over here this is all the original machinery you know back from 150 years ago and as i was saying before before there was power here it was all run by steam so that was a steam engine there damn that entire thing was only 120 horsepower do you figure these days you can have that big engine like this big so it took all that to operate this whoever wants jump up on the chair that's my favorite chair here yeah give it a ride get in the driver's seat all right so this is the so that's the guy that's controlling it all so what he's doing is look at that dial that dial yeah that's always far and he's and he's telling the guy to go down 200 feet and dropping him in with his levers he's pulling this back that's a gravity break he's locked right now right okay yeah but uh he's pulling back on that to lower this cable down to lower that cage way down into the ground and he's watching that dial to try to be like hey we're at the 200-ish level and then there's somebody signals up the shaft or the light and you're all right stop and back in the day the mine went 24 hours a day so there's day shifts and night shifts 12 hour shifts and so you imagine these days people come up here for the peace and the quiet but back in the day this town was crazy you know so busy so loud the miner was always going there was you know seven brothels here a bunch of saloons shootouts a murder per week so it used to just be chaos here this is literally the wild west guys this is amazing though this is the holy grail this is it this is the reason this place is what video do you got that shows you going down have you used that and went down there yeah so without that there's a video called going into the 200 level and the 200 level here is the most infamous level because back in the 1870s 30 miners got trapped at the 200 level and they never made it out they're still there right now yeah still they weren't able to get on such a big collapse and so they sealed it off for 100 years and then the reason i went in there is because i can get water out of the mine 700 feet down if you go all the way down water accumulates into like a pool so i pump it up and i pump it up but the pipe kept freezing at the 200 level so i thought there was cold air coming from somewhere so i went down to diagnose if i could find the source of the cold air so i went into the level for the first time in over 100 years dude that's so dangerous can i use some of your clips in that yeah for sure yeah right yeah and it's it's one of those ones that you know i've been up here for a while so i've lost a lot of weight being up here but my back was against the wall and the rock was touching my stomach it was that narrow just like slide through you can't die in there man and then the thing is that i was leaving my buddy went with me and he was like hey i'm going to dig it out for you so it's a little bit easier to get back to the shaft and as he was digging out he just yelled hey you got to come now it's collapsing because the roof started falling and so it was just the most terrifying dude i would have been yeah and that's awesome because you get trapped there yeah dude guys right now here's the video here we go it's popping on the screen check this out this video i take this cage from 1865 down to the 200 level here at cerrogoro's union mine and if you're familiar with cerro gordo the 200 level might cause you some pause this is a bit of a infamous history where somewhere in the early 1870s somewhere around 30 miners died in a collapse at the 200 level and their bodies are never recovered that's such a tight little space we'll make it bigger they're back here the jeans are back here we get back towards the exit and the hoist is there so right on time voice is waiting for us johnny goes first and he decides like hey i'm gonna i'm gonna dig it out for you more you know make the gap bigger like oh great and then he kind of says uh hey brent come now uh the roof is collapsing which knowing the history of that level is not what you want to hear and it turns out as he was digging instead of making it bigger more stuff was just collapsing and actually making the space smaller and even more dangerous and so i shoved the boxes through he gets them and then you know i couldn't record this obviously for me to get out i had to squeeze as small as i could go and i couldn't even put my hands up because i don't want too much of the way hands straight to my side and just kick with the heels of my boots to push myself back up this leg and hope that i don't touch any of the rock overhanging because it was collapsing on johnny and so it's just like what a way to end the adventure you know just kind of snaking my way back out of this thing right down there is a small cabin we're gonna go check that out really quick and after that there's like maybe like a few little buildings left as a church i want to see and then we're gonna go hit up those mines i was telling you guys about so we're taking the whole grand daddy tour but just to show you how far we really are out here i mean check for yourselves i mean this is it it's great what so what's good with this little cottage yeah you know about it so this one this part of the town is called newtown so this is to be a huge little mining district too and there used to be a bunch of these little things but over the years they just fell down and so last year this is my first project i wanted one that was away from the town in case i messed up right so i experimented on this and got it looking pretty good now it's my project man that's my way of just like kind of getting away from it all you know it sounds stupid they have to get away from it all when you live in a ghost town but sometimes if it's busy over there no one knows this is here it's kind of tucked in dude it's hidden it's my hit it's my height away all right let's go this is my handiwork this is the first deck i ever built in my life you know i think it's true hey it's stopping it's not moving at night so brett is this the last building of your ghost house those are small little tiny cabins but this is the last main building this originally was a mechanics garage it was just a center part right by a guy named ned reddy so back in the day ned reddy was the gun singer of all gun singers like people talk about like doc holliday and johnny ringo and all this there's a book called the encyclopedia of gunslingers and the guy that owned this has more confirmed kills than any of those guys oh my god the first confirmed shootout here at cerro gordo he had one in lone pine and he had one kind of everywhere it's originally a mechanic's garage and then over the years they expanded to be this church and now there's movie theater seats in it so eventually i want to be able to like imagine like teams come up uh you give them a gopro hey two days to film a video then make a video and then we have a premiere here i'm gonna make it like ridiculously fancy because i think it'll be hilarious and it goes like i have to put on a tux you know yeah yeah and then you go into this old building heck yeah let's check it out uh somebody gives a sermon just brief one minute you know just pet person i have cats because the cats kill the mice i have goats because goats can haul stuff for me the next pet is going to be mules because they can move stuff and finally i'm going to get a horse because i want to be able to ride around my horsemen this is a one-horse town you know i feel like that's what it is yeah gerbils are pretty low on the list yeah improv is hard but when you're improv it's it's good i'll do one with storage hell okay all right charades raven chicken a crow yeah crow shouldn't you oh oh uh oh pterodactyl thingy what the is going on it's a scarecrow that's this bag right now so guys when uh we first met brent he was telling us about uh the hotel that burned down that was right here now the first floor was like a like a saloon the second floor was a hotel helmet and it sucks but what they're going to do is the whole plan is to to re-fix this place up they're going to use old wood from the mines so the outside's not going to stick out because it looks new or it's like a tourist spot when they rebuild it and it's going to really fit well and blend in with this place because everything is there is all original and then they're gonna be trying to like make this into an airbnb so you guys can actually come here and check it out and sleep here and just kind of vibe out into a real ghost town it's gonna be good guys it's gonna be good all right guys right now the sun's coming down it looks beautiful out here we're going to like a peak where we can see the lowest point in the united states which is right by death valley it's in depth valley and then we're going to look on the other side and see the highest peak and it's a mountain in the whole united states as well so we're gonna see the lowest and the highest it's a cool area too is that right uh continental peak continental okay continental peak oh boys you sure you can see i'm good i can't see it is majestic but i can't oh this is great boys this is great so far it's been an amazing time here at cyril gordo and obviously you guys are asking where's the mines we want to see the mines well we're heading into one right after this so hold your horses never seen rich drive a car yes this is the surprise i've ever seen whoa yeah that's true well i'll be damned boys some of the best few i've seen sunset coming down wow i want to check out the other side so the side right here is death valley let's check this side out now personally i've never been to death valley and that is a place i've been wanting to see for a while i should probably do it now before it gets too hot geez though this is amazing god oh my god i haven't seen the views like this in a long time yeah right there see see how low it is we can probably i mean we can set like a little bit more view over here of it but dude guys this has been an amazing adventure and we're just totally winging this video obviously um the mines are coming up again we're going to do a mine that's off the property heck did he go he's like he's not even around he ghosted us he did literally ghost us though like this is not good i didn't even see his truck or his light anymore see we're literally getting lost right now i think he stopped he's waiting for us we're down over here yeah yeah but now they vanished all right he was on the right now i think he's gonna kill us nobody's gonna find our bodies kills us traps us forever i have no reception you know he's getting oh there he is i see his lights just a little tent oh boy all right guys we finally made it to the mine now no one has ever filmed this mind here so we're the first ones i don't know what to expect but it is dark and we're going in we have the adventure crew behind the camera you guys can come in we're getting it yo we got to get this know any history behind this mine or not really nope so again again this whole ghost town would have even been a ghost town if it wasn't for the mining they were doing here the money so it's just insane that now we're walking through what the miners were doing a hundred years ago and this is just all still left here and there's about at least 20 plus more other mines all around gordo in the area the property and off property that was just here just for this and it was 4 000 people here just walking through mining digging doing everything like that it is pretty interesting whoa it's getting smaller this is wild we might though you never know what is that it's um i forgot what it is is it cotton no no it's like no it's like furry oh it's pretty what the what the hell i told you what is that and i've never felt anything like it what is whoa it's like snowflakes i don't know [Laughter] this is after you shut the light off whoa this looks cool i know i kind of feel like we walked about half a mile already and we're just still going straight nonstop maybe we can find some gold and silver oh i don't know that'd be great i feel like these could just fall on us right here
