[Music] [Music] [Music] so so [Music] so well good afternoon everybody welcome to our him sing this afternoon appreciate y'all coming in the hymn books are available for purchase out there also this is interesting for me because i grew up singing the first second and we stood on the fourth so i'm assuming that the third was not anointed or it had bad theology i don't know and bill was the worship leader so i don't get it but we'll figure it out today but this is really important because worship is all about a savior it's not about a style it's about christ this is really good because all of this will point to christ today so we're so glad you're here at the end of our time today as you exit out any of the exits we will have cookies coffee and drinks out there just for you to fellowship and relax but we really appreciate you being here i get an opportunity to say welcome but bill gets all the credit for this so welcome bill cole that's totally my fault good afternoon everybody i'm sure glad you're here today can everybody see a hymnal can everybody see one okay does everybody have one no you don't if you don't have one the words will be on the screens so don't worry about it and you'll and you'll probably know a lot of y'all probably have a lot of these memorized i sure do and uh and i'm really grateful you're here i just want to introduce a few people and i'll reintroduce them again in a moment but this is louvre griffin and she is a dear dear friend of mine i i posted uh we posted a thing of her playing on thursday out in east texas oh she can sure play steel she's about she's about 39 years old now she's been in ministry every one of those years so she's wonderful and then these are all my best friends in the whole world over here uh i'll we have a couple of special guests i'll introduce them too and then this is phyllis carr over here she's been with me since the first day i walked into this building and i'm so grateful for you phyllis uh so what we're gonna do we have a few rules of the road first of all uh the first few hymns we're gonna sing all the way through and i'll give you the the hymn numbers and you turn to them if you want some of the things we're going to sing are a medley so we won't sing everything so you'll know if it says medley we're going to go kind of fast the page numbers are there if you need them just work ahead okay so you can do it it's not that hard but we're just here to have a good time if there are a few hymnals still left out there and you want to go check if you want to go borrow one you're more than welcome to when you get finished just place them on the table as you walk out uh today but we're really really grateful uh that you're here would you pray with me for just a minute could we go to the lord god thank you for the privilege to sing these wonderful songs of these uh dear friends on the stage and these wonderful friends who are here to participate in the auditorium we're just so grateful to have luverl here so many wonderful folks these songs mean so much to us these are the songs that we grew up with so help us to enjoy them but help us to remember they're not about nostalgia they're about the savior that's the truth they're about jesus and so everything we do today while we want to pick this style of songs and we love it we want to remember they're still about jesus it's jesus jesus jesus no matter what we sing no matter what we do no matter what we preach around here it's always the gospel it's always jesus so thank you so much for these great folks who come today your name we pray amen amen now we're getting a bad not not bad habits a wonderful habit of standing all the time when we sing in church now that is not a bad habit it's a wonderful habit you don't have to do that today but if you're feeling it sometime and you want to just help yourself i'm not going to i'm not going to lead you any way like that but the first song we're going to sing is one of my favorites in the whole world so why don't you grab your hymnal turn to 499 this is victory in jesus let me tell you just a little bit about the guy that wrote this his name is eugene bartlett eugene [Music] had a music school called the hartford music school he actually mentored albert e brumley he's the one who wrote i'll fly away so there was a really deep deep connection between those two men this man mr bartlett had a stroke he was paralyzed he was bedridden when he wrote this song so in his suffering he wrote about the victory he still had in the lord jesus he caused the lame to walk again and he calls the blind to see that's all the more meaningful when you know his story isn't it come on let's sing together victory jesus you can stand on this one if you want i heard an old story how a savior came from glory how he gave his life on calvary to savorage like me [Music] come on oh victory in jesus my savior forever [Music] [Music] he puns me to victory beneath the cleansing flock i heard about his healing of his [Music] and then i cried dear jesus come and heal my broken spirit and somehow jesus came and brought to me my victory oh victory in jesus my savior forever he sought me and bought me with his redeeming blood he loved me [Music] i heard about that mansion is [Music] oh [Music] jesus my savior forever peace on me and bought me with his redeeming blood he loved me [Music] amen y'all sound good y'all sound good won't you be seated once you bc to turn with me to him number 511 let's sing together the solid rock [Music] my hope is still on nothing less than jesus blood and righteousness i dare not trust the sweetest on jesus [Music] [Music] when darkness seems to hide his face i rest on his unchanging grace hit every high and stormy my anchor holds within [Music] is [Music] is [Music] my soul gives way he then is [Music] [Music] okay come on let's sing that last verse when he shall come with trumpets out oh may i then in him be found dressed in his righteousness [Music] is [Music] amen you know the man that wrote that song he was a pastor you want to know the name of his church it was called the strict baptist church well aren't you glad you don't go to that church maybe some of you do you should come to our church we're not so strict is that the funniest thing the next song we're going to sing is heaven came down and glory filled my soul hymn number 573 this is a relatively new songs written in the 60s by a man named john w peterson this man was so instrumental many of you have done cantatas and musicals uh probably in church you know with students he was like the godfather of the musical he wrote the first of them he sold so many so many pieces of music he was in pennsylvania he was leading music at a conference they were given testimonies and an old man came up and said i'm new jesus today i met jesus and glory came a heaven came down and glory filled my soul isn't it a beautiful testimony and so later on in the week and it took him a little while longer but that's when this song was originated as he heard those very words in a testimony during that camp so come on let's sing this let's start on the chorus okay sing the chorus heaven came down oh heaven came down and glory filled my soul when at the cross the savior made [Music] my sins were washed away and my night was turned heaven came [Music] today i will never forgive [Music] oh what a tender compassionate friend he met the need of my heart shadows dispelling with joy i am telling he made all the darkness depart and now i sing heaven came down and glory fill my soul when at the cross the savior made me whole [Music] my sins were washed away and my knife [Music] [Music] there are those matches of a lie and it's because of that wonderful day when at the cross [Music] is to pearl from his precious hand i received come on [Music] [Music] my sins were washed away [Music] oh heaven came down and glory filled [Music] my sins were washed heaven came down and glory filled my soul [Music] [Applause] man oh man that woman can play that piano you are so good it's so good to have you now we're gonna do a medley of some blood songs in the hymnal especially if you're not familiar with it lots of times especially in more current hymnals they group songs by themes and they'll put them uh close together by numbers in fact sometimes they'll make a medley out of it for you and i chose not to do it their way but they're all right there together so if you look at those page numbers you see we're going to see 223 and then 229 and then 225 and then 227 all about the blood of the lord jesus right there in that little section that's how it is all the way through the hymnal in a lot of cases so if you're looking for things to go to the back you find those those themes and those things that you want to be singing about and you could sure find a lot of songs my friends here are going to help me uh with this and so we're going to start watch i'll come up we'll just all be up here together but we're going to start on hymn number 223 nothing but the blood what can wash away my sin what can wash away my sin nothing but the blood of jesus what can make me hold again nothing but the blood of jesus oh precious [Music] nothing but the blood of jesus [Music] this i see nothing but the blood of jesus for my cleansing this my plain nothing but the blood of [Music] at jesus nothing but the blood of jesus not of good that i have done nothing but the blood of jesus oh precious [Music] i know nothing but the blood of jesus this is all my hope and peace nothing but the blood of jesus this is all my righteousness nothing but the blood of jesus oh precious [Music] found i know nothing but the blood of [Music] of jesus there's power in the blood oh there's power in the blood would your evil a victory win let's start over i messed up but believer was still on top of it with me we're gonna do are you washed in the blood yeah sorry about that give me the words up there have you been there we go sorry have you been to jesus [Music] are you fully trusting in his grace [Music] why is [Music] do you rest each moment [Music] [Applause] is [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] have you been to jesus for the cleansing washed in the blood of the lamb one more time oh are you fully trusting in his grace this hour in the blood i'm having a blood melt down up here oh are you walks get the next song ready ruthie look in the soul cleansing [Music] in the blood of the lamb now i'm gonna get this right [Music] i'm so disappointed to myself i had a plan here but it is sure good to sing these songs sing this would you be free from your burden of sin there's power in the blood oh there's power in the blood would you or evil of victory [Music] of the lamb yes there would is do service for jesus your king there's power in the blood yes there's power in the blood would you live day his praises to see there's wonderful power in the blood oh there is [Music] [Music] let's sing it again there is power yes there is power [Music] let me introduce to you this is tammy gonzalez she's a new friend of ours and we are so glad she's here she's going to help us to uh the blood will never lose its power sing the chorus with her and then she's going to sing a couple of verses for us here we go it reaches to the high and it grows [Music] [Music] the blood that gives me strength [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] that jesus shed for me [Music] way back on calvary the blood that gives me strength from day to day it will never [Music] and calms my fears [Music] and it drives all my tears the plan that gets me straight from day to day it will never lose [Music] mountains [Music] [Applause] [Music] it will never lose [Music] oh it reaches come on [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] is [Music] it's [Music] thank you tammy so lavera's going to play us a couple of songs before she does i just want to talk with you for a second and let you all get reintroduced to her she's been in our church in years past uh with her husband jim bob who cannot be here today he's not feeling good so we're sad jim bob's not here so hate him bob we're saying hey to him he's watching us uh streaming so how many years have you been traveling and singing and doing ministry uh jim bob and i have been married 65 years and we started out working in churches you know doing music in churches and i won't name them all because there was a bunch but anyhow and and we just had a wonderful time when we first and we had five girls in the midst of all of those churches and uh they're now serving the lord with their mates and it's such a joy such a joy to serve jesus and uh so jim bob and i uh when we met we met at stephen f austin university in nacogdoches and uh god called jim bob to special ministry and that happened to be in baptist churches for all those years 21 years and then we went into full-time evangelism that's when we came to sagemote years ago we had all the girls with us then her youngest used to sing jesus i heard you had a big house remember that yeah have you ever heard that song you need to look it up remember that yes yes jesus so so y'all traveling evangelists you travel with sam kathy you played yes you're saying you had the big long trailers and you lived in church park and we're still you know jim bob and i go but we don't go as much since we're 85 and 86. right he's 86 i'm 85. you're younger than him much younger she's much younger but it's so uh wonderful to get to be back here with you and i just think you're doing a wonderful ministry here for how many years bill i'm going to ask you well for a long time if i said too much it wrote me off 34 years come 34 years bill's been here in that amazing so you want to hear her play um [Applause] okay okay thank you phil i was reading in ephesians today where it said that we don't be drunk with wine where in his excess but be filled with the holy spirit speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs singing and making melody in your hearts to the lord and i feel that you're doing that this afternoon and don't we serve a wonderful savior and his blood that he shed for us on calvary is not diminished whatsoever it's still able to save the lowest sinner anywhere or even the most wonderful businessman god's blood that he shed his son came and gave his life on calvary for us and i'm just grateful and i'd do it all over again you know it if jesus would walk with me i'd just do it all over again i'm 85 but oh his love just gets more precious every day to me so i'm glad to be here to him sing with you wonderful people this afternoon and okay i play an old i was raised on stamp stuff y'all know what stamps music is and it wasn't used in our churches so much back then but we had lots of song books we would have um they would print out lots of gospel music and it was wonderful and these are some of the things that were in those song books back then i'll start out with this world is not my home i'm just passing through [Music] so so [Music] uh sleeping [Music] [Applause] thank you [Applause] thank y'all wow um i stayed awake last night thinking about what i would do here at sagemont today and i just stayed awake all night wondering what i needed to do oh [Music] and andre crouch songs came to me i was in that era too you know when you're 6 80 no what am i 86 85 85 85 but when you're 85 you can remember all of the wonderful songwriters but this one came to me as i was wrestling with what god wanted me to do i've had many tears and sorrows and i've had questions for tomorrow there have been times i didn't know right from wrong but in every situation god gave blessed consolation that my trials were to only make me strong sing it with me through it through it i've learned to trust in jesus i've learned to [Music] trust i've learned to depend upon his word [Music] you know what i thank god for the mountains and i thank him for the valleys i thank him for the storms he's brought me through for if i'd never had a problem i wouldn't know that god could solve them and i wouldn't know what faith in [Music] it god i've learned to trust in jesus i've learned to trust [Music] i've learned to depend upon his word what would we do without god's word another song on very crouch rope that i'd like to give all the glory to [Music] so [Music] so [Music] uh [Music] so [Music] so so [Music] so [Music] so precious thank you all so much all glory to jesus amen i want to be like you when i'm 85. i'm not that far behind you golly that's all we came for that's plenty for me that was so good so i want to sing for you a song you can sing with me if you want but i'm not going to sing it like you're trying to sing with me i'm going to sing it the way i want to sing it a man named charles weigel wrote this song this man was an itinerant evangelist just like leverlin chimbop i used to do it for four years um it's hard job you go out you leave your family at home he was out doing a crusade he came home and he saw a letter there in his home it was from his wife who said i'm tired of this lifestyle i don't want to do this anymore i'm taking our son and i'm leaving you and this she did and so she left charles weigel and he spiraled into a horrible season that took him uh several years to recover from he he did go back into ministry he didn't go back to serving and traveling and doing those things that god called him to do but he'd be a songwriter and it was in that very season that he wrote this song i would love to tell you what i think of jesus since i found in him a friend so strong and true i would tell you how he changed my life completely he did something that no other friend could do only jesus can birth miracles out of hard seasons like that yes amen amen amen if you are in a season today may god write on you and through you a new song i pray it is so maybe today you're underneath it and i just pray this song would inspire you and the lord would speak to you and help you to see that this is not the end for you you're still here you're still breathing and you're still walking so i just pray you'll listen to the sweet and beautiful voice of jesus and the way they lead you in that season if that's where you are i would love to tell you what i think of jesus since i found in him a friend so strong and true i would tell you how he changed my life completely he did something that no other friend could do no one ever cared for me like my jesus there's no other friend so kind as he no one else could take that sin and darkness [Music] oh [Music] every day he comes to me with you a us more and more i understand his words of love but i'll never know just why he came to save me till some day i see his blessed face above no one ever cared for me [Music] like jesus there's no other friend so kind as he no one else could take the sin and darkness [Music] oh how much he cared for me would you sing that with me no one ever cared for me like jesus would you put those words up one more time ruthie no one ever cared for me like jesus there's no other foreign [Music] no one else could take the sin and darkness oh [Music] amen amen amen amen i want you to turn to the next hymn that's in your program it's how called greatest faithfulness and i want you to stand on this one i want you to sing with me every single verse and every course and then we're going to do a key change after the third chorus and do one more chorus okay so let's sing this it's one of my mother-in-law's favorite songs right here greatest out of faithfulness great is thy faithfulness oh god my father there is [Music] now foreign [Music] is [Music] springtime and hardness [Music] above joined with all nature [Music] to thy great faithfulness is [Music] [Applause] [Music] is [Music] is thy sing that last faithfulness [Music] [Music] [Music] out oh we sing great is thy faithfulness the lord great is thy faithfulness [Applause] morning my morning new mercies [Music] sing this three times faithfulness [Music] me [Music] i thought y'all be seated god bless you all no i'm not singing we want to raise money for the building we can start by keeping me from singing you know bill this is a great thing wherever you went you kind of like an 80d music guy you're all over the stage and as i was sitting here uh and we started off with victory and jesus this time last week right about this time i was sitting at the foot of the casket of my mom and that's how we sent her home we sent her home singing victory in jesus and then thinking about the song as great as thy faithfulness and as i drove home tuesday i looked at audra and i said audra don't have any parents my dad died last july my mom died on wednesday and i just thought i could be down i could be hopeless you know really and honestly when i really began to think about that i thought if i wasn't driving back to houston to come to sagemont i would probably be really depressed but i went home and i opened up my mailbox and there were hundreds of cards from you i've never had that and so great is his faithfulness that he knows that everything we need he knows that i used to call my mom all the time i called her before matt's sermon was on holding your tongue well before i would speak a lot of times when i was angry i'd call my mom and say mom you won't believe me so she got the tongue and then she said remember your tongue and don't say those to those people you're going to talk to i don't know who's going to get that now but great is our faithfulness these old hymns we call them old man they they're so new they're so fresh they bring hope they bring healing the words if we just took the hymnal didn't even sing and just open it up one morning and just started flipping through and just reading the words of of what that is what a quiet time that would be to wake up to jesus and just say great is not faithfulness you know believe it or not a lot of people give matt carter beef and i got a little insight on him and i could tell you a story where he says maybe he doesn't like hymns [Music] but i can tell you that he loves them he didn't know it i was two deer stands over one from him at our ranch one time and i could hear him singing it real early in the morning ruined my whole deer hunting they were handed the other direction and he was singing some of these songs and he loves them he he wished he could be here with you i'm telling you he's sick he just texted me he's got a fever he didn't have a big fever this morning he's got a fever now so just pray for him but he wished he could be here but as we sing and we go on and we look at what we're going to sing the rest of the night and bill you put this together so great the heavenly melody and all these things let's think about that as great as god's faithfulness that these these songs have lasted for hundreds of years some of them and that's not because they were written by men that was because they were breathed by god into me and so what a privilege it is that in the year of 2021 when our world is in complete upheaval we can sit here and sing these tonight in complete freedom so let's pray father god we thank you we thank you for your love we thank you for your peace we thank you for your words we thank you for song we thank you for the piano we thank you for everything that we we see we just father we thank you for musicians i thank you for this choir and bill and god just thank you for them thank you that we have an opportunity to sin right here in this worship center and say great is your faithfulness and that you will renew that morning by morning your mercies we shall see and so for all of us that are in this room that could be hurting or that we're celebrating life we want to say great is your faithfulness lord and we thank you for that in christ's name amen you guys having fun are you having a good time [Applause] see y'all this is my beautiful sweet mama sandy ingram can you all give her some love she deserves it she had to put up with me for 43 years come on [Applause] so believe it or not i haven't always been a sweet nice little hippie like i am now when i was young i was kind of an ornery little not head and she'd have to get that little switch after my behind every once in a while and it inspired me to sing this song a lot it's called goodbye world goodbye because i thought i was about to come see jesus real soon also this is the first time me and my mom have ever been able to perform together and i'm just so excited that i get to share this with you guys thank you all so much for this my heart is just full today what a wonderful day all right mom let's give them a little something little little goodbye world goodbye [Music] oh [Music] all right i need you guys help i'm the i'm a rock and roll guy okay so this hymn thing is real new for me me and bill were sitting in the office he's like hey jimmy have you heard of this one i'm like no bill those are the deep cuts do you know all of the led zeppelin songs so i'm singing the two hymns that i know today and i need your help all right we're gonna sing oh and i was informed this isn't a page it's him number six so work to the wise if there's any other young pups in there that don't know about this it's him number six [Music] once you sing this out i'll break down oh lord my god [Music] have made [Music] [Music] thy power throughout the [Music] universe my soul my savior god [Music] great thou art [Music] [Music] come on ladies sing it out [Music] taken [Music] i [Music] my savior [Music] how great thou art how great [Music] [Applause] god [Music] how great thou art shall come with shout out [Music] and take me home [Music] shall fill my heart [Music] my god [Music] let's lift it up big today come on this is [Music] [Applause] [Music] our this is [Music] now [Applause] all right i got a confession to make this book is real heavy okay i'm blind this is like the quadruple x elephant size print so if you see me fiddling around that's why i'm like god lee my thumb is cramping up holding this thing let's turn i'm sorry bill i'm going to get fired ain't i we can stand come on this is blessed assurance this is a good one let's stand to page 446 sorry bill him 446. here we go blessed assurance [Music] blessed assurance jesus is [Music] [Music] purchase [Music] i love this part right here this is my sorry [Music] this is my song [Music] praising myself [Music] [Music] this is my song oh yes it is [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] breathe whispers of love perfect submission all is at rest and perfect submission is [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] lost in his love this is my story so this is my story this is my song praising my savior all the [Music] this is my song oh yes it is [Music] [Music] one more time this is my story and this is [Music] my song praising my savior [Music] [Music] yes it is this is my song [Music] amen we praise him you guys can go ahead and have a seat bill i'm going to embarrass you a little bit okay i got to [Music] man this guy i know i've only been here for six months but bill has been a mentor to me i've learned so much from him my heart is full today that you guys came up and came out for this i'm gonna try to not cry bill was like i don't know if anybody's gonna come man he's been a little weary ward around the office is stressed pacing around i don't know man i'm like bill it's fine it's people are gonna come this is great i don't know man and you know what you guys showing up today because bill is important to me this is important to me and i love you guys and i am so thankful my heart is so full of gratitude thank you guys so much now bill's going to come sing at calvary because i don't know the words i love you bill come on y'all give bill a hand i love you bill [Applause] y'all know this right don't stand up just stay seated but let's pick it up just a little bit years i spent in vanity and cry caring not my lord was crucified knowing not it was for me he'd [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] now [Music] see there was great in grace [Music] [Applause] [Music] that brought it down to man [Music] [Applause] [Music] there was great and grace was free [Applause] [Music] isn't that a great song man i love that song i never sang that song and i was sad after having sung and i loved that song my mother was an alto so i would stand in church by my mom and she would always sing alto and i would always hear her singing thinking you don't even know the melody of this song until i figured it out and then she taught me how to sing parts just by singing around her i'm so grateful for her and she has brought me up to get saved you know eventually i found my way to the lord but it was through her and many others for sure but jimmy i thank you thank you for leading sandy thank you for being here with us we love you appreciate you phyllis is going to come over here to the piano and phyllis is going to come there not yet laverle not not just yet we've been rehearsing from afar so this is not the tightest ship we've ever run here today it's mostly my fault but we just finished this amazing series our pastor did on heaven he couldn't be here today because just like matt said he's sick he preached this morning he did not feel good this morning and we knew he didn't but he he preached great this morning but he couldn't come this afternoon so we love him we understand for sure i'm going to have him sing at the next one so i can't miss it and we hope to do another one of these in march so i hope that you if you bought a hymnal tonight you'll come back and so also in the back we put some cards out there if we didn't sing something today that you love from the hymnal uh or maybe another hymn that we could throw in there just write it down and throw it in the basket and we'll see if we can't get to it next time if you have one that we didn't quite get to but he spoke about heaven matt carter did it was just so amazing and it just made me hungry and anxious and so hopeful to see jesus can you not wait to see jesus you know the the more that people that you love who are so very close to you go to heaven you know the closer it feels that's the way it is for me it feels so close sometimes so i just can't wait to see those who've gone before me and i can't wait to see his face it's view the land it's uh from isaiah it's it's called it's it's defined by the word marriage and it's just such a beautiful picture of our union uh with the lord for eternity for eternity so i'm going to sing sweet beautyland but before that i'm going to sing another one it's called dwelling in beulahland just a verse and of course maybe you've never heard it before it's just a great song i love it but it goes uh give me the keys okay here we go far away the noise of strife upon my ear is falling then i know the sins of earth be set on every hand doubt and fear and things of earth in vain to [Music] i'm living on the mountain underneath the cloudless sky i'm drinking at the fountain that never shall run dry oh yes i'm feasting on the manna from about a full supply for i am [Music] sick for a country to which i've never been before no sad goodbyes will there be spoken for time it won't [Music] matter anymore [Music] and someday [Music] shall be eternal [Music] i'm looking now out across the river where my face will end in sight there's just a few a few more days to labor and then i'll take [Music] my heavenly fly come on let's sing i'm longing for you and someday [Music] shall be [Music] sweet [Music] you lord [Music] sweet [Music] okay we're going to sing some songs about heaven i hope this meddling goes a little bit better than the last one i did i think it will this is going to be the last big group of songs that we sing i'm so thankful just like jimmy said i've really been just stirring around here like a fool concerned that anybody would come to this but i'm so grateful bring somebody with you next time we do one and we'll this is our first go at it we'll sort of do this and make it a little bit better for you next time but i'm really grateful for you being here for your patience with us but some of our wonderful singers again are gonna lead us in this medley the first thing i think we're gonna sing is we're marching design is that
